I lost the weight between Dec. 2006 to Dec. 2007. Exactly one year on the day. I have kept it off since then. I swing between about 175-185. My more important little tip is to never give up. In running the 40 mile and 50 mile ultra marathon, I learned that a person is capable of so much more than what they had ever imagined. I learned that one foot in front of the other will take you to the finish line for sure in whatever journey you are on. Walking2lose, you would know about that. One step at a time gets you to 30 mins. , 1 mile, 5 mile, etc. Same with the weight loss. You fall, you get up, you keep on keeping on. You finally get there. THanks

Thanks alot for your very wonderful words. Thank God my wife liked me before, now the eye candy is so much more meaningfull, it is like she got married to a new guy. HAHA My only advice is to never stop. The ultra marathons really taught me that even though things are really tuff and might hurt, you can still keep going. So that is it, maybe it is to simple, not sure, but just to get up after a binge or a fall and keep on keeping on.

All of the threads in the "goal" section are terrific, but for some reason, your story is such an inspiration to me.

Once I reach my goal, I plan to run the Comrades Ultra Marathon in South Africa (88km). I really do see my journey having the same ending as yours - but I am still at the before stages, though.

Oh, and by the way, I will look twice if you pass me on the street - you are one handsome guy. ;)

Snoozle, What an awesome goal, to run the comrades. THat race has such a tradition of excellence when it comes to people helping people finish. The togetherness there I have heard is tremendous. I would love to run it one day too. If you have not watched the videos on youtube about this ultra, you should. You will cry your eyes out, well, I did anyway. Very short videos, but powerfully movie.

THanks a lot. No problem. It is nice to know that I look good now. My wife tells me the same thing and that means a lot. You just wait until your hottie is transformed. It's gonna be great. Anyway, it is nice to hear because although I have lost all the weight I still have the "fat mind" on the inside and it takes over at times and then I think I look fat.

You truly are an inspiration! I lost 100 Lbs and am struggling now to get the last 40 off. I fell off the wagon, so to speak, and gained 16 of those 100 Lbs back. The new year brought me new inspiration and have since lost 13 of those 16 Lbs. That might have been a little confusing but I just wanted to say CONGRATS on not only taking it off but maintaining it. I too have started jogging, not marathons, but on and off for my 4 km walk. I know it isnt much but compared to where I was at 2 years ago it is a great accomplishment. Anyways, enough about me, you look great! CONGRATS, CONGRATS and CONGRATS!

You look so fit and healthy, full of life! Discovering a love of exercise has been possibly the most positive thing that has happened in my life - it has changed me so much and in so many ways, mentally as well as physically.

I know it can be hard to change your mindset when you have been obese - but just keep reminding yourself that you are now a normal weight and enjoy your success!!! You deserve it.

Question for you - During your year of weight loss was running the main exercise you did? Did you encounter any physical problems due to the running?

I ask because I enjoy running for weight loss but wonder if I should be mixing up my cardio (I also weight train) and also because I'd like to extend my distance faster but find if I push for too far too soon I have knee aches.

I have lost 51lbs since 8/08 and now I am stuck on a plateau. Did you ever hit plateaus? If so, what did you do to get it moving again? I have tried increasing strength training and shifting calories a little. I now know that this is a life( in every sense of the word) journey and will continue. Having said that, I am getting frustrated that I stopped losing at 6 mths and haven't gone off plan. I even made it through all of the holidays so far without going off plan. (something I have never done before)

Any advice would be great! Again: YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION!!

I am at the very start of my journey and have set myself a 100lbs to lose (which depending on how I feel closer the time I may increase by another 13lbs) and although I feel a little overwhelmed at all the effort that is needed and whether I have the ability to get there..... stories like yours are such an encouragement, and show me that anything is possible when we keep working at it...
