.....that I love the way I feel after I go to the gym or work out at home, but I have to talk myself into going everyday? I'm just wondering if anyone else feels this way. I will give myself every excuse not to go work out, but I know I feel better when I do? It's obnoxious!
It really is, isn't it? But as they say, the road to **** is paved with good intentions.
I can tell myself I'm going to the gym every day of the week, but I've found that has little to do with whether or not I actually go. I've said it before and I'll say it again, motivation is fleeting. I think half the battle is figuring out how to deal with the peaks and valleys.
I have always told my husband the hardest part of my run was getting the first foot out the door. Now I have a hard time getting my butt upstairs to do a video but once I'm going it goes super fast and I feel great. I do the same thing when it comes to cleaning though. Once I get up and get going I can't stop. LOL!
I'm kicking myself now because I didn't work out in the morning when I should have and now either have to wait until my family goes to bed to work out in the basement or try to do some quiet exercises in my room. I wanted to wake up this morning but it was like my face was glued to my pillow!
I always get an adrenaline rush after working out, and if I work out I usually end up eating better so that I don't waste the calorie expenditure, but sometimes it's really hard!
I wish I had advice but I'm still trying to figure it out myself
I'm the same way- once I'm home I don't want to go workout!
BUT when I'm at work I want to go home- so I go on my lunch hour to the gym lol.
Days that I have off and I want to go to the gym, I plan stuff to do in the area so I'll go- my gym is by the grocery store I go to so I'll go to the gym then go grocery shopping.
It's just one of those things where you got to force your butt to go!
I've been doing it for almost 5 years, and I still feel that same, "Aw man, I'd so much rather stay home." sometimes. Especially when it's -55 degrees and I have to shovel myself out just to go (last week, yuk.) But, I have a quote that says, "The only workout I've regretted is the one I didn't do." And that usually get's me going. The poster that mentioned half the battle is getting started, is so right. I say to myself, "Okay, 10 minutes and if you still really want to leave, then go." By the time I'm at the gym, suited up and get a little sweat on, I'm ready to really work hard.
Sometimes a few new songs on my iPod will do the trick... I run on the treadmill so I'll search for the perfect song on iTunes at night and then the next morning I'm all excited to go and run to it.
This works occasionally...
If this is new for you, I would say that reaction is very common--at least it was for me. I didn't want to go and walk in the heat with everyone in my neighborhood looking at me. Now, I feel like I have lost my purse on the days I don't exercise. It's just a matter of time until it becomes your habit too. Congratulations for making this happen for yourself.
wow! this is my life. i just developed the habit of working out the minute i get home from work. in fact, today i ended up in my shorts and sports bra before without even thinking about it. if i give myself even 20 minutes to relax after work, the workout will NOT happen.
but man i love the remainder of the night post workout.
I feel the same way and I find that if the workout is a little boring or it begins to feel like a chore its time to change it up. Also remember to find some things that are fun! I LOVE going to Zumba (Latin dancing) and I tried Kickboxing aerobics last night at my gym....However that said..there are STILL days when I come home and feel the exact same way...rather just stay home...I ask myself...what feels better?? Lazing around all evening or the feeling like I just worked my butt off??

I guess we're all like that. I have to really force myself to go the gym. Once I'm there, I'm usually good and want to be there. AFterward,I feel pretty awesome. But of course, the next day I have to force myself to go the gym and the cycle continues
i was the same way when i went to a gym now its a little bit easier to use the glidder i have it in the living room so i can watch tv while i work out it doesnt even feel like im working out but i am and its been feeling great today is my no workout day but tomorrow will be back to my 2
