I have been fighting my inner battles this month to quit sugar. I tried a year ago and lasted about a week. I came to a major realization tonight. I had a major craving and ate only a few jelly candies. I felt so dizzy and out of it afterwards. I realized that I thought that sugar was my best friend, but sugar is my worst enemy. What kind of best friend would make you feel like crap?

I don't feel like I would miss candies or cakes much. My main reason for not quitting has been tea. I love my tea sweetened. I'm not too big on unsweetened tea. I'm hoping that I can develop a taste for stevia.

I'm going cold turkey tomorrow. I can't wait to get it out of my system and feel balanced. Good bye moodswings, dizziness, and cravings. Hello weightloss, hello good health, hello joy.

Hi wendy,
what about honey in your tea? i realize it is still a sugar, but a sugar with nutrients in it at least. Agave nectar is another natural sweetner.

Are you talking about iced tea or hot tea? Are you talking about adding a teaspoon here or are you talking about that super sweet southern style syrupy thick with sugar iced tea?

I still like tea if it's just lightly sweetened. Actually, the southern style makes me dizzy when I drink it. I have used agave nectar. I may use it and raw honey sparingly in the future. I think I'm better off staying away from sugar entirely in the beginning and then see what I can minimally add back in.
