Good morning! We are warming up - sort of. Today we are going up to a high of 10ºF - a veritable heat wave! We are also getting snow which will cover up the yellow marks on my deck! (I can't say I blame Jazz since it has been a cold week and he is a puppy.)
This morning, after more coffee, I am tackling the list of niggles I made on Monday. (I've been a bit lazy this week.) :nono: At noon I'm off to town for a quilting class. I'll be gone until around five so Claire is going to pop in and give the dogs a potty break. It's so nice to have friends. I've made her a Shepherd's Pie and some cole slaw as a thank-you supper. "One hand washes the other."
Next week is shaping up as a busy one so I need to get "stuff" done this weekend.

Good morning ruth and all the other chicks!
Gosh, I hate myself when I wake up early on aday off. Woke up at 6, can't fall back to sleep, darned it. Problem is...I don't do anything...that's good and bad, I guess....time alone without children, but house still dirty!
Ruth - I understand the procrastination thing. That's sweet of you to make stuff for your friend!
Me - nothing much on the slate. Clean the refrigerator out...really good. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Were thinking of taking the kids ice skating sometime too (indoor rink). It's too cold (-5 right now) to take them outside. Wish I knew if we were getting the house, I could start packing!
I could finish packing up my "fat" clothes...hmmm....maybe tomorrow :D.
Have a great weekend ladies, stay warm!

I guess being in single digits below zero is better than double :brr:
I'll just have another cup of coffee.
Ruth - Bundle up and stay warm up there! Have fun erranding :)
Twynn - Enjoy your quiet morning. I look at it as found time, might as well enjoy it since you aren't sleeping in.
I think it's going to be a quiet at home weekend. We toyed with the idea of going somewhere bird chasing but it's cold everywhere and that means 8+ hours in the car and no real walking or even good stretching. I just don't think I'm up for it. There's always a lot to get done around here like baking and cleaning and laundry and organizing all those storage closets/cupboards.
I hope it's warm & cozy where you are

The aroma of coffee brewing lured me out from under the covers this morning. :coffee2: We have the heat off in the bedrooms, and I was all snug and warm in my bed. :)
I don't have a thing planned for the day except for a visit with my mom & dad. My DD and I were going to go to Wilmington for Obama's Whistle Stop tour, but it's way too cold for that sort of thing today!

Good morning, everyone! How is your Saturday shaping up so far?
Ruth: I don't blame you at all for being a bit lazy this past week. In cold like that, I'd just want to stay wrapped up by the wood stove! Enjoy your day out and about and be careful!
Twynn: I really hope you get the house! Home ownership, while sometimes trying, is a huge blessing! Enjoy your unplanned Saturday...those are my favorite.
Cyndi: As cold as it is up there, I don't think I'd want to be in the car for eight hours, either. You've always got car heaters, but what if that goes out? :yikes: I don't even want to think about it!!! Enjoy your day!
Cottage: I'm sorry the weather is going to cause you to miss that! It would be a wonderful experience to be there! I hope you stay warm and cozy whatever you do!
Me: I've just checked the weather and it's a toasty 45*F for us right now. If it weren't foggy I might throw on my bathing suit and get a nice, winter tan!
Anyways, it feels like we have a lot planned today, but we really don't. We'll be grocery shopping and doing a little bit of "fun" shopping this morning. This afternoon we hope to get the shed cleaned out, which will only take an hour or so since it's a tiny shed. I'll only need to pick up the house a bit and start washing bed linens since the house was cleaned and the laundry was done on Wednesday. Tonight we're planning on having some rematches on the Wii while we enjoy our weekly indulgence. (I'm having half a bacon cheeseburger with a salad on the side! Can't wait for that!)
Funny thing happened yesterday. I've been keeping a food log on spark people and have consistently come in under 1500 calories. Yesterday, as a result of the lack of movement on the scale, I was cutting back a bit and would have only gotten to 1100 calories by the end of the day. Well, DH got worried and did some research and discovered that, to maintain my weight without exercise, I should consume 2900 calories a day!! To lose 2 lbs. a week, I need 1900 calories a day! With exercise, it should be about 2300. Well, the reason that is funny is because I did the research last year and tried to give him this shocking info and he was adamant that it wasn't possible. Funny how men think they know everything even if we've done the research. ;)
Anyhow, we've decided that I will stay under 1900 cals a day (easy-peasey) and do my best to get more than 1600 a day (that is a bit of a struggle for me). I've been working out so hard that I'm shocked at how much more "fuel" I need just to get through a day. I will throw in that my menu looks very similar to my SB P2 menu, so we're making sure that I'm putting good calories in besides my once weekly "cheat" that is allowed if I do all my workouts and eat OP all week. It's DH's method of choice!

Good Morning everyone!
Kim - I have trouble getting my min calories in without eating junk. It's something I have to keep an eye on since it doesn't just feed me.
I ate what I thought was a lot yesterday but it was only abt 1200 calries, not so great. I have trouble getting breakfast in because my mornings are so busy so I am off to try and make me something while the baby is happy.

Good morning ladies....I guess coming and going is my mantra for this month....I enjoy keeping up with you ladies...it seems to add some peaceful moments to my life, but since I am not back on SB I feel like I should just observe. I had a terrible experience this week and my chocolate lab was put to sleep this week and I am having a hard time. I remember when Ruth went through the same last year and I was hoping you (she) had some suggestions to get over the first few sad days. I have my golden girl still, but my lab, Harpo had a crisis this summer and it just ended poorly, although it wasn't expected to....will be doing some cleaning today...need to put the empty crate in the garage and rearrage the furniture or something.....have a great day ladies.... - Suzyq

SuzyQ, many hugs to you. Allow yourself to grieve and give your Golden extra love. It'll help you both. Let yourself cry too.
Kim and FlMom, calories don't need to be exactly the same every day - it's the weekly average that counts.
TwynnB, I didn't clean my fridge yet but my stove is now sparkling! It's been on my list over a week.
Me4, glad your pup is feeling better. I'm a big fan of cleaning up after your dog and it really is important when they have been sick. $56 fine around here if you don't stoop and scoop.
Cyndi, I can't find my Patterson so need to ask what kind of sparrow is in your avatar? Yellow stripe on the head? My feeders are pretty busy in the cold. The suet and peanut mixture is getting a good run.
I'm off to tackle the fridge!

fl mom - Are you eating nuts and good fats? remember your body needs those fats. Just thought of that because when my calories really dip I've usually gone too low fat.
Ruth - It's a horned lark :) They are all over this year.
Well I remembered there's basketball on at noon so I'm definitely staying home. Getting the stepper out so I don't feel guilty about sitting in front of the tv for 2 hours :)

H chicks,
I've had a lovely lazy morning. The kids are at my moms so I slept in and lounged in bed reading for a long time. Had a cup of split pea soup for breakfast and now I'm surfing and watching some Goodfellas on the tube. I also joined paperbackswap and listed all my books. Hopefully taking it easy wll help kick this cold. I gave myself until noon and then wll head out to the grocery store. I'm not looking forward to venturing out into that cold!
Ruth, it's a great thing to have friends you can depend on and that know they can depend on you!
Tammy, my house is dirty too. I'm tryng not to let myself feel guilty about it. I will do a little cleaning later, only if I find the energy.
Cyndi, sorry you didn't get your birdwatching in. I hope you can find something to do!
Kim, enjoy that cheeseburger! You've earned it.
suzyq, I'm so sorry about your pup. That is a hard thing to do through.
fl_mom, don't forget that dinner leftovers make great breakfast food too. I love beans or bean soup in the morning.
me4life, glad to hear your puppy is doing better.
Well, I'm going to enjoy my last hour of quiet. I see on facebook that DD1 has had a fight with a friend, so I guess I can look forward to an angry chick rolling through here soon.

Brian got off to his campout yesterday although I found his Winter Camp cap in the car so he may have been a bit chilly last night. Don and I had dinner after a trip to Home Depot and I sat around and watched him replace a faucet in his trailer and clean the trailer. We fell asleep watching Law and Order around midnight so I had to get up at 1:30 and head home. Good thing we don't live far apart but by the time I was awake enough to drive it was hard to get back to sleep.
Today I'm trying to get a lot of little piddly stuff done, I've got sheets in the washer now and then need to head out for cat and gerbil food, office supplies for Twilight camp, a parallel to USB cable to connect up the laser printer and look for some new towels. Don's working today so I don't know if we're getting together. The three of us are going to the district scouting dinner tomorrow so it isn't a big deal if he doesn't have time today. We just have such a good time hanging out together. If he wasn't allergic to cats we'd hang out at my place more.

Good Morning, All,
Just finished a wonderful Jazzercise Class and am home back in my robe with my hot tea. It's about 30* outside and this Southern Belle doesn't like it! I'm ready for summer! I know, I'm a weenie! :)
Not anything exciting going on today. I made a wonderful pot of 15 bean soup for dinner last night. We'll have it for lunch today, too. "Beans Beans, good for your heart...." heehee
This week, I am down two pounds -- 12 total. Yippee!!! I don't know that I could have done it without your daily help and encouragement. You all are wonderful! Thank you!

Almost good afternoon -
Ruth - both my stove and fridge need a good clean. I miss my MIL so much, she was so good at helping me. She always wanted to feel useful.
Twynn - good for you getting rid of some clothes.
Cyndi - did you get your new bike. A webcam would be great but my DD computer is completely out of date for one and I guess when the old one goes then it will happen.
Kim - men never believe you in some things.
me4 live - I am so glad your puppy is getting better.
sstambler - I know its hard to lose a beloved dog. We all have been thru it and I still think of mine especially when I'm making pancakes that was her favourite treat.
Schmoodles - my kids told me very plainly that they don't want me on facebook. I guess we find out too much that way.
Barb - enjoy your me day.
Chelby - congratulations think of how much 2lbs of butter looks like.
Not much going on here. I have a few projects to finish for my occasional business (reknotting some pearl necklaces) and just love sitting in the front room doing it with all the shades up and watching the world go by.

Schmoodle - we don't usually have leftovers in our house. There are 5 of us eating so we finish it off most of the time. I made some breakfast cups but I guess I lost my muffin pan in our last move and they turned out terrible in the mini pan with paper cups. Next time, I will use the mini pan, and just cut stuff up really small. I still had half the bowl left so that's what the 5yo, 2yo, and I had this morning.
Chelby - woohoo for 12lbs!
Cyndi - I will have to check the fat, I think I am getting that, just not eating enough altogether.
Ruth - How many calories should the weekly average be? (based on daily need?) I need to make sure I get at least 1600 everyday or else my milk supply might suffer.
SuzyQ - I am sorry to hear about your loss :( I was sad to see Ruth refer to Lucy's ghost a few days ago. I remember her posting about Lucy when I was here before I got preg with my youngest.
me4life - glad to hear your dog is feeling better!
Sophie - my mom is on facebook, she just got it figured out this week. I say join anyway ;)

Afternoon Ladies!
Cottage- I've been meaning ask you, what is it that you do for work?
SuzyQ- Sorry to hear about your pup.
Chelby- I agree this weather is COLD. We're at the same weight now but you're losing much faster than me!
Me: Confession- I cheated BAD last night, but not as bad as I used to binge, and I'm still down 1/2 lb from the day before! But it's okay and I'm back OP today. I made a tom, cuc, onion salad, veggie soup, jello yogurt, & quiche cups. We're have pork parmesan tonight SB style and balsamic asp. I'm due to end P1 on Wed. but since I cheated I may stay on a few days longer. I've only lost about 3 lbs in 1.5 wks which I am not impressed with and I have been following it very closely until my slip up. I'm thinking of staying on P1 until I lose 10 lbs.

Good morning! It's warmed up a bit - we are now over 0ºF and it almost feels like Spring! We did get 2" of snow just so we don't get too excited.
Not much scheduled today except Church. I'll be reading and sewing plus making a niggles list. I may even do some! This week is going to be busy so I'll appreciate a quiet day.
Hope your Sunday is "sunny" in all ways.

We woke up to a covering of snow, and it's still snowing but warming up to almost 30* today. I DO hope that was the last of those single digit numbers for the winter!
Yesterday was a quiet day for us, too, although I did spend some time with my parents. Mom was making chicken pie and sent home a big piece for Jake, so I didn't have to cook for him. :) I made myself a fast and easy tofu stir-fry that was delicious!
I have to go out for a few groceries today, and want to do some laundry. I imagine DS and family will come over later for supper, so I'll cook up a roast beef for them and probably another stir-fry for myself since I have to use up that tofu. I wish they made it in smaller packages!

Good Morning!
Every Sunday morning, my family goes to a flea market in North Alabama. It's always fun to see what people drag out. This time of year, vendors visit the big farmers market in Birmingham and bring veggies. It's what the grocery stores buy, just less expensive -- tomatoes $2 a cup instead of $2 a pound. I can't wait till spring when the fresh stuff starts showing up. For me, the first sign of spring is strawberries from Hammond, LA. Yum!
Hope your day is warm, lazy and on plan. :)

Good morning Chicks :coffee2: I'm enjoying a bowl of crockpot steel cut oats thanks to Murphmithch's find. Yum, can't wait to get to the store that has the unsweetened dried cherries.
Ruth - Enjoy your warm day ;)
Cottage - I freeze tofu sometimes but it does change the texture a bit. Some people actually prefer it that way though so it's worth trying with a chunk.
Chelby - I so miss fresh produce. You will see it a lot sooner than I will!
Sophie - The bike should be here Monday or Tuesday. I'm on Facebook but my DD isn't!
It's very snowy here so although there are now a couple of birds we would love to chase I'm not risking the drive. I drove home from the coast in bad weather once last year and will never do it again if I can help it. It's really scary white knuckle driving over the mountains.
Instead it will be chores - Nessa bars, some kind of food for the week (DP starts her job Tuesday so we need lunches for 2 now!), more laundry more organizing, more cleaning..... You get the idea.
What's on your agenda this snowy Sunday?
Kim_Star060404
01-18-2009, 09:22 AM
Morning everyone! No snow here, but it did get colder than we thought overnight. DH had to wake up and get all the heaters turned on just to warm the house up a bit! It's still cold right now, but not as bad.
Cyndi: I know it'll be more work to prepare two lunches, but what a blessing that DP found a job! I'm glad you're not venturing out into the snow. Enjoy your Sunday!
Chelby: Oh how I love flea markets! We don't have any here, but every once in a while we get to travel somewhere that has a great one and they're so much fun! We have a decent farmer's market, but we rarely get there in time to get anything good.
Cottage: Mmmmmm....tofu stir fry sounds yummy. I'll have to put that on the menu sometime next month. (This month is already planned and pretty much shopped for.) I hope you have a great day!
Ruth: I'm glad it's "warmed" up for you! It's still colder there than our low today will be. Enjoy church and I hope you get your niggling done!
Me: Boy did we get a TON of things done yesterday! Groceries were bought and were shockingly enough only $93!! We bought a lot, too, so we were surprised. I also stopped by the local Wal-Mart type store and bought some fleece blankets on sale for $4. They're incredibly warm. DH and I got the shed and carport cleaned and organized with no fighting and they both look great. We should have done it sooner! My workout yesterday was KILLER, but DH was sweet and stayed outside to coach me even though he was done working out. I also got all but two rooms cleaned in the house, so I'll be doing those and laundry today.
Today should be fairly low-key. I'll be getting things ready for the week and making my list of niggles made in addition to the above. My family is getting here late Thursday night or early Friday morning. Since I don't want to skimp on workouts after work, I need to make sure I know what needs to get done and when so that the house is ready for them.
Well, the coffee is done, so I'm off to make breakfast. Maybe that'll warm me up a bit!!!!

Good morning chicks, another slow start today. I've managed to get in a load of laundry, make breakfast for the kids (they like a big nasty farm breakfast on Sundays), neaten up the kitchen, and give the cat her medicine, but that's about it so far. Yesterday was my lazy day, but I'm supposed to get stuff done today, so I really need to find some energy, but so far, not happening, even after 2 cups of coffee.
Regarding facebook, I think it's funny that kids my DD's age don't understand that everything they put out there on the internet is for public consumption. I think privacy may be an old fashioned concept. I tell her, if you wouldn't want your boss to read it, don't post it. Anyway, I say go ahead and join if you want to, sophie. If they don't want you looking they can always block you. I'm not on there to spy on her (or the nieces and nephews), but sometimes I do find out things I wish I hadn't!

Chelby- My Mom is in B'ham today, we adore the farmers market downtown.
Cold Weather Folks- stay warm and toasty.
Facebook- It's not just the kids posting inappropriate things, parents & TEACHERS from my son's VERY conservative private christian school are posting pictures that leave little to the imagination. We had to give our "born agian Christian testimony" at on our application to get him in the K-3 class!
High of 65 today!!! DH was hunting this morning as was actually hot!
I had some leftover taco bake for b'fast today. I'm doing a table at church for our woman's touch dinner. My theme is Valentine's day so it's really easy.

Good Morning Ladies- Saturdays are so hard for me to check in so here I am, a day late! Hope everyone had a great Saturday I was busy working wishing I had the day free lol
Ruth- SO nice of you to cook for your friend! I love that! What is a niggle?
Twynn- I need desperately to go through my clothes, unfortunately I already got rid of my fat clothes and now need ot go through and put away my skinny ones till I am able to wear them again! UGH.(I shouldn't say skinny but my less 20lb ones!)
Cyndi- Did you get all your organizing done that you hoped to accomplish? Bird watching is so cool, speaking of which I never put my feeders up since we moved... really need to get on that! LOVe the little horned guy! Beautiful!
SO, do you make your meals ahead for every week for lunches or? Just curious... I usually end up just trying to take leftovers, mostly soups... but would love some new ideas!
Cottage- Hope your visit with mom and dad was lovely! Enjoy time with DS and fam today!
Kim, its amazing how your body will burn or hold on depending on what you are eating!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!! I have been working out this week and every morning I step on the scale to have gained a lb!!! UGH. I know its just water but that is always annoying! I should hide the scale... but I won't ;)

Marissa- Hope your foot feels better soon!
As for me, this weekend was work on Saturday and going to try to do some organizing today. Need to run to the grocery just for a couple things... as I said before I need to hide the scale! It goes up a lb every day!!!!! I have been working out though and did eat soy sauce with dinner last night and didn't buy the reduced sodium one this time either...oops. Not giving up though. I am really sore from my workout last night. For those of you who have on demand you should check out their fitness part- tons of workouts there! I did Jillian's p1 of the shred program and feel it today! I also did an ab workout... Plan on doing them again today as well! Schmoodle, yesterday was my lazy day, too, so I have a lot to make up for today. It was sure nice to just take it easy all day, though!
Our snow is mostly gone now, and we've made it up to 32*! Groceries are put away, laundry is almost finished, and I have spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove for lasagna to take to a friend who's recovering from a shoulder replacement, and I'm making an extra one to stash in the freezer. Brian really enjoyed his backpacking trip. He's showered and watching TV while he uniform gets cleaned and then we are leaving for the district dinner. I doubt if the food will be on plan but I had a healthy lunch of grilled shrimp, spinach and asparagus so I'm not worried about one unhealthy meal. I enjoy the district dinner each year. My son was going to Boston for a concert tonight so he and his freinds left at like noon and got there by 2 and now have 5 hours to kill before the concert. Got to love 20 yr olds!!!!! I did some laundry and baked a cake since I have three teens sleeping over last night and tonight. They actually were nice and shoveled for me twoice instead of me having to pay someone. Took a little nap and gave my golden some extra attention. Tomorrow we all have eye doc. appointments so I will pay some bills today since I probably won't be able to see tomorrow!!!!! I bought a core workout take by Gilad, wow was that intense today....anyway hope you all have a wonderful evening....we are eating chinese food and watching creepy movies...perfect for a cold and snowy night!!! Brian met with a Scoutmaster at the dinner tonight to go over the civic requirement and will meet tomorrow to do the orienteering course. He will then do his Scoutmaster conference and Board of Review tomorrow night and will get his First Class rank. This is a huge honor. Typically it takes a boy a year to make First Class and he will do it in less than 10 months. He makes me so proud of him :)
