Hello Friends ~ just thought I would start a new thread since we were on page 7. I am really so happy to be back here with y'all. I gained 3.5 pounds while I was gone but feel great about getting back on track. I am ready.........I decided to try very small goals this time rather than thinking about the big picture. So my first 'mini' goal is to be in the 180's......that will be accomplished when I lose 7 pounds.......that will be by next Saturday......this is positive thinking here.

Well, have a great Saturday you's guys.......

Knowing you Zoe you will lose that much the first week. You go! Glad you are back. I love the STOP sign you made telling us about the new thread. No way to be confused there.
How do you get the red letters to be bold and big at the same time? I try and I can either make them colored and nothing else or bold and nothing else. I am still a little pc illiterate. Thanks.
I hope you have a wonderful Mother's day.

Hi! Well, I had a great day today, out shopping for something cute to wear to a staff appreciation day on Thursday. Got two pair of cropped pants, still size 14, but very cute. BUT I did drop down a size in my GAP jeans, which is great. At least, I'm saying I dropped down a size -- I have two pair that are both labeled 14. One of them right now is very loose on me, the other pair (the pair I wore today) is better fitting (just a tad bit snug in the waist, but not unbearable). It's so frustrating that clothing sizes are so varied, even within the same brand! Oh, well, whatever :)

Have a great rest-of-the-weekend :)

Mel,
Congratulations You are awesome. You inspire us all!!

 Everyone,
I just invented this incredible recipe for chicken. On WW it seems that you eat chicken so often that you start to cluck, so I try to inovate when I am in a creative mood. Occasionally it's awful, most of the time its ok, but sometimes, like today, it's terrific. My DH said he would expect something like it at one of those cute trendy resteraunts in SF. Here goes:

Apricot Glazed Chicken

8 chicken breast cutlets
garlic powder
black pepper
1 pkt french onion soup mix
2 c apple juice
8 tsp apricot jam
1 sprig of fresh rosemary or 2 tsp dried rosemary leaves

Preheat oven to 350 deg. Veg spray bottom of roasting pan. Wash chicken and place in pan. Spread 1 tsp of jam on each piece of chicken. Sprinkle with garlic powder and pepper. Pour apple juice over chicken. Pour onion soup mix over chicken. Strip leaves off of rosemary sprig and sprinkle the leaves over everything. Bake for 50 minutes. Serve with sauce from pan.

Makes 8 servings and I figure that it is 4.5 pts per serving. Really yummy.

Got to go. It's time to put Ellen to bed.

Hugs,
JanieD

Hey Terri ~ the way I make those BIG letters in another color is this way:

Click on the color you want and type your line. Hit enter like you were done.

do a "cut" of that line

go to the size and choose HUGE and type the bold thingy [ b] then "paste" your cut lines and hit enter

go to the end of the new line and type your bold ending, the [ /b] thing

that's it :D

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MY BUDDIES!!!!!

I'm sorry I haven't been around lately. My mom was moved to a nursing home so I've been going back and forth, etc. I've been reading your posts and promise to write ASAP. Just want to congratulate all of you for losing, for posting and for just hanging in there!!!!!!!

I'll be back soon!

Even thought it's almost at an end.....Happy Mother's Day to all!
Hope everyone had a great day with their families.

We spent the day at home, relaxing with the kids. It was a cool rainy day, perfect for staying in.

Dianne, it was so good to hear from you!

Janie, that recipe sounds good, very creative. :)

see you tomorrow,

Dianne,
Great to hear from you. Let us know how everything is going with your mom. Hope you had a nice Mother's Day.

Zoe,
I think I've got it!! . I will see in a moment.
Thanks so much.

Jen,
Sounds like a relaxing day.

JanieD,
Thanks for the recipe. Sounds scrumptious.

HollyGirl,
Congrats on finding cute pants.

We went to the Outback instead of the brunch. I wanted steak so bad and that is a good place to go. I had about 30 points there. I could only eat half the steak. When my family goes out you don't have to worry about eating too much bloomin onion. I had about 4 points worth.
Brittany bought me two CD's (Trick Pony and Jodee Massina) and Tango and Cash DVD and Bruce got me wind chimes with a wooden center and the DVD of Friends first season. I didn't start watching until the third season. The boys made me adorable gifts. The cards are hysterical. Brandon started out with 4 lines that rhymed and the last line was"...and I am glad you are not an airhead."

Hope everyone had a great Mom's Day.

It worked!

I love learning something new. Thanks Zoe:D

I had a nice Mother's Day. We went to the Red Lobster & had to wait 1 hour. I mainly went for my oldest sister. She doesn't have any children & since my Mom isn't around anymore she gets really depressed. She wanted the Red Lobster so I went to make her happy.

Terri, I've been dying to go to the Outback. I didn't count points yesterday. By the way, The Points Lady lost 5 lbs! She's very happy with WW.

Jen, what you did for Mother's Day is what I wanted to do. Stay home, rent movies & just chill. The weather was prefect for it.

Dianne, why did they move your Mom? No need to apologize. As long as everyone is okay. I do miss you:( Mi amiga.

Janie, chicken is pretty much all we eat & ground turkey. Sounds good. :T I better watch these smilies. I get too carried away sometimes.

HollyGirl, way to go! Down a size, I'd be on cloud nine.

I haven't been on line the past couple of days so I'm going to go browse around.

Have a great evening.

Till tomorrow:wave:

Hello, Friends!

Ok, Zoe, I still can't do the size & color changes! I'll keep trying!

Terri, We were supposed to go to Outback for Mother's day, but my DSS cancelled on me, so DH and I just stayed home and read.

JanieD, I'll try your apricot chicken, looks YUM! I made spagetti squash for the first time and it was really good. Just cut in half, cover with plastic wrap and microwave 15 minutes. Scrape out the "spagetti" and serve.

Hollygirl, Size 14? WOW! You are doing GREAT!

Hi DecemberDiane, Jen, Essie and everyone else! Hope you have a wonderful OP week!

HELP! I've been doing so well and then today at work I had a surprise birthday party. I did great -- ate raw veggies, fruit and small slices of sandwich wrap. Then tonight, I started looking at the cake and decided to have a piece. It was so rich and good and I reverted to my out of control m.o. :o and had two more pieces. Now I feel sad and sick. What's wrong with me???????

Sorry to end on a down note! I'll recover, tomorrow's another day! Hope y'all are all doing better than I am!;)

MEL,
Tomorrow is another day. Just start again and forget about the extra cake. That is what is wonderful about this program. You can restart anytime of the day or night. I can't believe that when I do what you did, and we all have, I actually start as soon as I dust myself off. I mean it is actually dark outside. Before I would have jumped in the car in search of my last snack and start "tomorrow". Don't worry about the cake now. It is done, gone, finished. You will be fine. Just don't let it go into a binge and then it could take you days to get back on. Whenever you go off a little on program just start again right away.
I am sorry about the Outback. You are the one who lit the fire under me to go there. I had actually forgotten about it. Haven't been there in awhile and didn't think about it. Sounds like you relaxed though. That is always good. :D

I just got this TIP OF THE DAY in my mail and it is fitting here:

TIP OF THE DAY: Still upset that you "blew it" and had that piece of cake last night? Get over it! And a piece of cake is far from "blowing it!". Those who have taken weight off successfully and kept it off for years have learned that it's not going to work to analyze every little bite that you put in your mouth, at least not long term. Most of us would go crazy and burn out without our favorite foods once in a while! The goal is to eat good most of the time, and when we do eat something that others may label as "off limits", we should slow down, enjoy it, savor it, and then get over it!

ESSIE,
What a great sister you are. I sent my sister (no kids but wanted them) a box with a bath pillow and dog treats and bones and toys for them. Her Sheltie and 2 yorkies are her babies. Brittany bought her a CD. Tell the point lady congrats!!!!!!

ZOE,
Thanks again. I watch that only when they have a celebrity I like like Donny Osmond or a Days of Our Lives person. Kind of grosses me out. Congrats for being back on track.

Bruce brought me home a cd that is pop hits from the 70's.
Your Momma Don't Dance, Maggie May, Free Ride, Fooled Around and Fell In Love, Momma Told Me Not To Come, The Cover Of the Rolling Stone, Rock On, Without You, Evil Woman, Baby Hold On, Wildfire and American Pie. I love it!!!!!

Better run and get to bed.

Hi everyone,
Since everyone is telling what they got for Mom's Day I will tell you, but you guys have to promise not to hate me afterwards ;) Ellen knows that we're finally (after 11 yrs in the house) doing the backyard this summer and she knows I love wild flowers so she got me wild flower seeds. She also wrote me a very touching Haiku poem and made me a plate with all kinds of pictures of cats on it. One of the kitties looks just like the cat I grew up with, Missy. SHe was such a wonderful cat. I picked her out of the litter when I was about 9 yrs old. She lived till she was 16 yrs. I still miss her.

Now the part you guys are going to hate me for. Steve gave me a 1 day pass to the Claremont Hotel Spa. I think I told you that we took my FIL there for dinner on his 80th Bday. I guess that was when DH got the idea. It is a beautiful turn of the last century resort with a 4 bridge view of the SF Bay. A whole day to pamper myself. Massage...facial...manicure...pedicure... Now all I have to do is find a whole day in my schedule to do it. That will be the difficult part:dizzy: For dinner we just did Thai take-out.

Dianne,
It was good to here from you. I am glad that your mom is doing better.

Have to go and get my walk in. Will check in tomorrow after i WI.

JanieD,
You will love it. Bruce has done that for me a couple of times and it is WONDERFUL! I did it in Florida. You will be sooooo relaxed. Have a wonderful time. What a thoughtful gift. Last year for Mother's Day Bruce gave my sister and me a cruise to Nassau. We were supposed to go on Sept. 17 last year but we have postponed it cause of 9/11 and will take it later this year. I love unselfish gifts.

Have a great hump day everybody.

Wow, I hate it when I don't check in everyday. I get so far behind on answering post. But I'm gonna give it a good try now.

JANIE, we will try not to hate you too much. That is a wonderful gift. Ellen is such a sweet girl, I love hearing about the relationship you two share. Now, are you really going to have a hard time finding a day to be pampered!!

TERRI, the quote of the day is so true. Thanks for adding it, they are words that we all need to remind ourselves from time to time.
Wow, I could really do some walking to that 70's CD.

ZOE, congratulations!! I am almost on track. I have more good days that I've had bad days, so that is a start. I really have to get my rear end in gear and start walking. You really inspire me, I will definitely go for a walk tomorrow!!

MEL, I second everything that Terri told you. We have all been there, best thing is that there is always tomorrow. You'll be just fine.

ES, hey girl, how was your Tuesday!! I hope it was a good one. How sweet to share your mother's day with your sister.

Well, I'm off to bed, hello Dianne, Jen, Myra, Hollygirl, Sandy, I hope I didn't forget any one.

Oh yes, I managed another 4.0 this semester. I now have 30 hours toward my degree with a 4.0. I rewarded myself with a new monitor for my computer. The old one was so dim that I couldn't see some graphics. Now things are so bright, I gotta wear shades!!!

THANK YOU, TERRI!! I sometimes don't feel very smart. Such as when I almost lost the 4.0 because I thought the Algebra class was another remedial. I thought I'd get a Pass or Fail and it wouldn't hurt my average. Wrong!!! It counts as an elective toward my degree and I was getting a grade. Boy was I full of regret for not applying myself more. I guess the Lord is watching out for me, because I pulled off an A somehow. But, boy did I feel stupid!

Take care ladies, I will check in more so I can keep up with all the post.

Ruth,
Just take it as a lesson learned. You will know better next time to make sure. I probably would have done the same thing. When I was in college I probably did.
You did great!

Hi all! I just found out last night that we are going to Colorado Springs for 6 weeks this summer. I just read in Woman's World mag. that it is the number 1 fittest city in the country. They say one reason is because the city is at the base of the mountain and it draws people outside. I saw pictures and it is beautiful. We are taking Tanner.:dizzy: That ought to be an interesting trip. Bruce, as you know, works for NASA and they are involved in a project with the Air Force and they asked him to go out there for 6 weeks so we are all going. I am kind of nervous.

Have a great day!

Ruth and Terri,
Thank you both for not hating me too much  You're right Ellen is a very special girl. I hope we stay close even through those dreaded teen years.

Everyone,
Well I WI this morning and lost 1 lb. That takes care of most of last week's gain (1.5). I think I am going to reward myself with that day at the spa after I reach my goal weight. I guess I should be happy that I have been maintaining for the last 4 months but I would rather be maintaining 5 Lbs lower. There are still some of my old clothes that are a little tight.

Hugs to all,

Janie, WOW A day to get pampered! A dream come true. Gee, I wonder if I would have a hard time scheduling a day.
WTG with your loss.

Terri, soooooo cool. 6 weeks in the fittest city in the country would motivate more than I can imagine. I think I would take up running instead of walking till then. Why are you nervous?

Ruth, I have to laugh everytime you ask how my Tuesday was. Thanks for asking. It was soooooooooooo slow. A real draggy day but I survived it along with tendinitis on my right arm. Something new. Congrats on your 4.0!!! You Go Girl!

Es, Sorry about your tendonitis. Sounds painful.
I guess I am nervous because when we leave for 2 weeks everything can be let go without much thought. Now we have to get someone to cut the grass, forward our mail instead of just holding it cause the bills can't be let go that long , It will take us awhile to get there so we can't all go into a restaurant together cause we will have Tanner, no fence probably at the rental place
for him to run (normally we kennel him for 2 weeks), 1 TV. Major. I think I talked Bruce into taking 2. 3 kids 2 adults 1 tv, NO WAY! I don't know how we did it growing up. He is now thinking of taking a small u-haul so we can take our bikes, computer, 2 tv's, and any assentials we may need. I plan for us to do a lot of sight seeing, walking and maybe we will see why they are the most fit city in the country. Columbus, Ohio, where I used to live and sister still does, is the 5th fattest city. She wants to go with us.
I guess 6 weeks is just a little longer than being able to pack clothes and go.

Great loss JanieD. Keep iy up and you will be going to the spa in no time.

TTYL,
Terri

Well, a quick post before I'm off to buy text books for the summer semester.

TERRI, I would love to have six weeks away from home. Of course, it would only be my husband and myself, so it would be such a simple matter of just packing and leaving. :D

JANIE, thanks for the congrats. I did receive a small scholastic scholarship for the fall and spring semester. It is only for a thousand but every little bit helps. My former employer has allowed $7500 for the first two years, that $1000 will allow me to spread that out a little. If I keep the grades up next year I may check into more scholarships. I have Federal assistance, but the paper work is awful!! OH, I ALMOST FORGOT, CONGRATS on the weight loss!!! Every little bit helps, especially when it is taking off those small gains!

ES, "thank you, thank you very much!" (that was my Elvis impersonation, could you tell?) Glad you made it through your Tuesday, now its Wednesday, almost the weekend.

Well I'm off to buy books. I'll check in later. It is so much easier to do this several times a day so as not to get behind. I know there are still post that I haven't read.

Ruth, you did a spectacular job! Way to go on that GPA. How do your daughters feel about you pursuing a degree? They must be proud of you!

Janie, how sweet of Ellen to have the perfect gift for you. She sounds like a very loving daughter. AND how cool that you received the spa gift from your husband! What a luxurious day that will be. Congrats on the loss :D

Terri, I would freak about being away from home for 6 weeks. The preparation for a one or two week vacation is hassle enough. I think you're showing remarkable restraint in using only a small u-haul  I'd definitely need a large one for the kitchen sink! It's a great opportunity to really get to know Colorado Springs and what it has to offer. I'll bet you and the kids will love it.

Es, how's your arm? Tendinitis can really be painful. Do you know what caused it? I used to get tennis elbow from blowdrying my hair when I got it cut short  and I don't play tennis.

HI to everyone else.....Dianne, Myra, Sandy, Zoe, Mel, Holly Girl, hope you're all great.

I love the thing with the names big and bold. I'm copying ya. :p And wow, Colorado Springs for 6 weeks!! Jen is right, I don't know how I'd be prepared. Will you be taking a computer? Oh please, oh please, we'll miss you. :)

Janie ~
What a wonderful Mother's Day you had. Ellen's gift must have really touched your heart. As for the day at the spa, can you believe that I turned that down once???? :?: The thing is, I think that would be so much fun if it was a ladies day out, doing it with a girlfriend but I have no one that could afford it. :( Have a great day whe you go!!

Ruth ~
WTG on that 4.0!!! Wow, you're such a student! Are you back on track yet? You told me the other day that you were "almost" back. Hope you are.

How's your arm sweetie? That can be so painful and I am hoping that it's better now.

I feel like I haven't 'talked' to you in ages......how are you?

Okay, now for exercise.....I am going with a bunch of girls canoeing. (sp??) We are going, 2 to a canoe, down the Brasos River. We start at one of the girls homes...(yes, right on the river, how nice, huh?) and then canoe down about 15 miles....Woo Hoo....am I gonna hurt in my arms OR WHAT!?!?!?? I am really excited about it.....breakfast of bagels, fruit and danish....(no, no danish for me!!) and packed lunches in water proof coolers.....can't wait.

Hi everyone else. Have a wonderful night. I'm going to relax....I'm pooped again. How on EARTH will I make it through Saturday's canoe trip?? ha!

RUTH,
I am very excited but I am overwhelmed a little. I know I will fall in love with the Mountains and climate. Bruce loves it there. I just want to be Samanth from Bewitched and be there and unpacked now. I hate thinking of the preparation for such a trip. I won't want to come back.
With bold colors, just decide what color and click on it and type message in little rectangle that pops up and click ok. Copy it and then delete it and click on size and click on huge and then paste what you copied in the rectangle that pops up and click on ok. Go down and copy again and delete and click on bold and paste in rectangle again and hit ok. I can't just add . Didn't work for me.

JEN,
I need 2 tvs, computer, bikes, microwave if one isn't available. Heating things up on stove is inhumane... I plan to get Brandon and Bradley in shape for football while out there we will breathe the mountain air and I won't want to come home. I just know it. My sister and BIL are flying down to visit. That will be so much fun. The Olympic training center is there. I haven't been any further west than Tenn., Ken... It will be so cool! When we took Britt's hamster on trips to Ohio we would sneak him in the restaurants in my purse. Carrier and all fit in there. Don't think I can do that with Tanner.

ZOE,
Brittany would go through withdrawals if I didn't take the computer. If not we have Bruce's laptop. But I want the big one. Can't get used to those laptops.
The canoe trip sounds wonderful. Your arms will look wonderful.
Have fun!!!!!

Goodnight everyone!!!

Zoe,
You're going to love the canoe trip, but yes you will be sore the next day. More in the shoulders than the arms if I remember correctly:strong:. Steve and I used to canoe all the time when we lived back east. We would win races and everything. We had to get rid of it when we moved. I miss it and keep trying to convince him we should buy another. I think he just doesn't want something else to take care of and load/unload onto the van.
Your friends home on the river sounds lovely. I grew up very close to the Connetquot River (on L.I.) and spent many many hours playing on or in it. I really miss living near the water. We are about 30 minutes from the Bay here in Livermore, and an hour from the Pacific. Every now and then I tell the family that I need an ocean fix and off I go(usually they come along for the ride).

Terri,
I know what you are going through with the packing. My parents were "Snow Birds" in FL for about 10 years. They traveled with their cat. They would go back and forth for ~6 months at a time. They got very good at packing, but then again they didn't have any kids with them. I also remember when Steve and I moved out here to CA. We decided to make a a vacation of it and took 4 1/2 weeks to drive out. We wanted to stop and see friends/family do some sight seeing, camping and scuba diving. We were able to survive for a whole month with just the stuff we could fit in a Honda Civic hatchback. That included all of our camping and scuba gear. It was actually very freeing not having to worry about anything except what was with us. Our friends and family didn't seem too put out when we came and after the Hellos we asked "Can we use your washer and dryer?"

My buddies,
I think I have written enought of a novel for one day. Sorry I didn't get to address each of you individually. Hope you all have a wonderful Thur.

Hugs,
JanieD

Today is a very bittersweet day for me.....Joey has leased an apartment and will be moving out. He will be 24 this year, I know deep down that it's perfectly normal that he should be on his own. However, the mom in me is saying, "NONONONO" !

He has a good job, and, more importantly, a good head on his shoulders. I don't have to worry about him in that respect......but he is my baby.

This is a very exciting time for him. He's got a roomfull of stereo, video, audio, computer equipment here, but no household items to speak of. Shopping to set up the first apartment is a blast.

The town he's moving to is only 10 minutes away, we'll see him often; I already told him he's got to come for dinner once a week.

I'm feeling a bit lost....of course Joe said now we can walk around naked if we want  typical guy-take on the situation!

The best part is that now Joe and I are back to where we started, it's just the two of us.

thanks for listening,
~Jen (feeling quite old at the moment!)

Boy you girls have been busy!! I can't stay away too long cause then I get way behind in reading all your posts. I love it though. Hope Myra can come back soon.

Zoe, HOW EXCITING! I've never been on a canoe but would like to try it. Ouch! Talk about sore arms:eek: Did you see The River Wild? Meryl Streep had some toned arms in that movie. Sounds like a lot of fun.

My Girl Jen, how I can relate. David was 22 yrs old when he moved out. It was so quiet I couldn't stand it. He always had music on & friends over. It was very lively. Pete on the other hand adjusted real quick. I'm glad to hear he's only 10 minutes away. Dave moved out 9 yrs ago & we talk on the phone everyday & he comes over once a week or I go visit him. They will always be our babies. Don't hesitate to email me if you need to. ;)

My Buds, thanks for asking about my arm. Every now & then I feel a sharp pain. The Dr. wants me to rest it as much as possible & gave me Ibuprofen 600 mil. for the pain. She said for the next couple of weeks not to do much of anything. I told her I'm a secretary & I type all day, write messages etc. It almost seemed like she wanted me to take off work for a few days. She said it's a really bad case of tendinitis. How I got it? I have no idea.

Janie, my brother takes the kids canoeing(sp?) at Connetquot. I keep forgetting you're a L.I. girl:D What ever happened with your elbow?

How's our challenge going? I'm at a stand still. I need to try harder. The Saboteur told the Points Lady that she doesn't want to hear anything about points anymore!!! It was so funny.

Terri, I can understand now why you're a little nervous about this trip. I hate packing but I hate unpacking even more. You were away from here too long so I hope in those 6 weeks you'll be checking in with us.

Patti/Zoe:lol::lol: here we go again. Everytime I think of Dianne thinking you were two people I crack up.

Ruth, have you had a chance to walk? Since my arm has been hurting I didn't do anything for 1 week. I got on the treadmill today for 1/2 hr. It felt good.

Well, I'll be back tomorrow.

Have a nice eveing everyone.

Hugs,
Es

Boy, don't sign on for a few days and the posts really stack up!!

I guess I've just been busy at work/church and didn't realize I hadn't been here for a few days. Glad to hear that all is going well.

TERRI -- you'll love Colorado Springs! I haven't been there in ages, but I know it's still beautiful.

Well today was my WI and I'm up 1/2 lb. Not a huge thing I guess, but disappointing anyway. I did have a rough week. yesterday was staff appreciation day where I work, so we got to see a movie (Star Wars) and had a buffet lunch (and I had a slice of carrot cake). Gotta get back on track this week and see a decrease next Friday!!

I'm going on a weekend vacation in early August so must look good in a swimsuit :o I've even been to a tanning salon a couple of times 'cause I'm tired of being lily white

Have a great Friday, girls, and I'll post again tomorrow.

Thanks HollyGirl. Bruce said it gorgeous. Can't wait.
1.2 pound isn't to bad. You will get that off. Stick with it.

JanieD,
You and Steve sound like you have so much fun. It is great that you two do so much athletically.

Jen,
I am so sorry your baby is moving out. I would be so happy never to have an empty nest. I am so glad it isn't too far away.
I remember my mom when I left Ohio for Florida at 24. It was traumatic. Have fun and now you have even more incentive to stay op. Naked around the house. Like I said have fun.

Es,
That is way to funny about the sabatour and the point girl. I can just picture it. I hope your tendonitis gets better. That has to be rough. Great job on the treadmill. "weigh" to go.
I will get on as much as I can while in Co. I promise.

Doing well today. I made this stuffed french toast that was so good. I used light cream cheese instead of fat free though. Here is the recipe:

Hi Es,
Thanks for asking about my elbow. The Dr's office finally called me on Wed and I have an apt on the 30th. I guess it must be something because no one would tell me on the phone the MRI results. "The Dr. needs to discuss it with you in person." Now of course ... I am worried :?:.
Considering what you do for a living I wouldn't be very supprised if your tendonitis is from a repeatitive stress injury. DO take care of yourself!
Do you know the Idle Hour area of Oakdale, by the Connetquot River? That is where I grew up. Right near Dowling College.

Terri,
I had to laugh when you made that comment about Steve and I doing fun stuff together. When we were first dating we were in graduate school at Stony Brook and I was still living at home. We would always be off on some kind of hike, canoe trip, softball game, the beach, or other adventure. My mom said to me, "You know, Steve isn't your boyfriend, he's your playmate." I thought about it for a minute and said "You're right, what's wrong with that?" Having grown up during the depression I don't think she ever considered a guy as anything but a provider. Unfortunately my parents marriage hasn't been very happy because they don't realy enjoy each other's company and have very little in common. When I told Steve that story, we dicided we would always make time to play. That is my prescription for a good marriage. Sounds like you are going to have lots of time to play now, Jen  Enjoy it!!!

Got to get back to work now.
Hugs to all,

JanieD

Terri, that recipe sounds really good; I've printed it to try next weekend, thanks!

Es, please take care of that arm! If it is due to work, it'll be a challenge to get it back to health if you don't take some time off. If you're not able to exercise, that may be why you're at a standstill.

Janie, your rx for marriage is a good one! I know it's hard to not worry about what the dr. is going to tell you. I'll keep my fingers crossed, let us know.

Holly Girl, all we can do is try to not go overboard when occasions arise. Where are you going in August? That's good incentive!

Thanks for the thoughts about Joey moving. It'll be a while to get used to just 2 of us here. I've gained a guest bedroom, which is a very good thing!

Hey Jen, this post is just for you.........

I don't know if you remember me talking about my "baby" moving only less than a year ago.....what a horrible time I had. He was just under 22, only 21 y/o and decided that it was time to move out. I know and I really knew that it was probably a good thing but my heart was breaking. He moved out on a day when my husband happened to be out of town on business. It just worked out that way. I came home from work that day to no hubby there, no cooking to get done and when walked in the back door, in the kitchen and looked down the hallway to my baby's room, his computer, desk, and bed were gone. He was coming back for more 'stuff' but that sight just killed me. (I sure hope I'm not making it worse for you with this story sweetie) He is in the same town although Fort Worth is HUGE. He is looking to move to an apt closer to this side of town when his lease is up. I hate having an "empty nest" and would probably have another baby if I didn't think people would think I was crazy. Anyway, I know what you're going through as my situation is still pretty new too. My thoughts are with you.......I guess it's just a way of life.....our little one's grow up.

Love,
Patti <><

Patti,
I do remember what you were going through when your son moved out....and how I prayed it'd be a long long time before we went through it. Thanks for the reminder of how strong we can be when we must be.
The situation could be far far worse, I know that. He'll be close by, and it's not like he's moving back to Chicago, in which case I'd worry about his safety depending on which neighborhood he chose.
I can totally understand your comment about having another baby...we have so much love to give it doesn't seem unreasonable.
It's great that your son will be looking for something closer to you!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words :)

I felt so sorry for you Zoe. I remember.
Thanks JanieD. for reminding me also about having fun. It is very important. We used to go water skiing and sailing and stuff. We will have to do some of that this summer.

All this talk of kids leaving home is depressing me!! My son, who turned five a month ago, just "graduated" from preschool Thursday night. Next thing I know he'll be off to college! Wow, has time flown by fast. I'll just enjoy him for as long as I can, and bring him up right so he'll be able to live on his own (not like the mid-40s brothers I know at church who still live at home -- yikes!).

OMG!!!!! You guys are certainly prolific, lol. I don't think I can begin to keep up with all your posts.

Jen - ahhhhhh, I know its hard when your kids move out. My oldest son Steve who now lives in Florida, moved out at 18 - decided he wanted to live in Philadelphia and get to see his dad more. That was tough, but we were able to visit a lot. Then last year when he decided to move to Florida with his wife and kids, I really cried like a big *** baby! I wish they could be closer, but I visit as often as I can and I never give up hoping they'll eventually move back to NY. Your joey is close to you guys, so I'm sure you'll see alot of him. There's a quote I love, but can't remember who wrote it: "we give our children 2 things, roots and wings". Its sure, and if the roots are strong, they'll always stay near or come back to us.

Zoe Girl - have a great time on your canoe trip girl!

Hey Es, mi amiga, how are you doing sweetie? Yep, I remember thinking Patti/Zoe was two people, lol.

Hi Terri - wow, your trip sounds exciting, scary, hectic all in one, lol. I'm sure you'll love it though once all the busy packing, etc. passes.

Hi Ruth, Holly, Janie, sandy, myra, and anyone I missed please forgive me. This group has grown soooooooo much and since I'm in an out lately, I might forget some names, sorry!!!!!!

Well, let's see what's going on with me. Well, my baby's home!!!!!!!!! We went to get Alana yesterday (and all her "stuff") holy moly, were still unpacking. I'm so glad she's home. We've had a double whammy this weekend, yesterday Alana and today, Justin - Willie's with him now, getting his "stuff", while I'm trying to find room for everything! Its gonna be kind of strange having them home, we've gotten used to being along for 9 months. Talk about walking around naked, willie started to go to the bathroom in the altogether and then said "OMG, look at me", lol. And I totally forgot Alana was home and said "the shades are all down, the neighbors can't see you", LOLOLOL!!!!!!! Well, I'm sure we'll get used to it soon.

My mom was moved back to the hospital from the nursing home - they have her in isolation and are trying to rule out either pneumonia or tuberculosis. She's really not looking good at all, sometimes I feel it would be better if she just let go. I know that sounds bad, but I look at her and the way she is living and I told willie, if that ever happens to me, please pull the plug. I would not want to live like that, I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound cruel.
So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Sorry this was so long.........but that happens when I'm away for awhile, I get diarrehea of the mouth! lol.

Oh, and I lost .8 this week, which puts me into the 140's from 150 - I'm about 4 1/2 pounds from ww's goal for me, and about 14 1/2 from my personal goal. It sure is slow, but I'll take it.

Well, guys, I gotta get back to working on Justin's room. I'll try to get back here soon. Love you all!

Hugs,
Dianne

Dianne :D you can have diarrhea of the mouth any time! It was so good to hear from you. You've got a lot going on with the kids home, what a great summer it'll be with a full house! As long as everyone keeps their clothes on......
Your feelings about your Mother are normal, but it remains something that people are afraid to talk about. When my Mom was ill, I was torn between praying that she'd go and then feeling terrible guilt over having prayed for that. Hang in there; my prayers are with her.
I didn't realize you were so close to goal!!!!!! Absolutely wonderful! Keep it up.

Good Sunday Morning!!

I'm being lazy today ~ I'm so, so tired after yesterday's canoe trip. I was gone from 6:15am until 7pm! No major injuries occurred, just a few bruises on my legs and a pretty bad sunburn. :( I used sunscreen but obviously a #30 wasn't enough for that hot Texas sun. Thank goodness it was only 75 degrees and not 90!!

I will go back and read the few posts I miss but right now I just wanted to say hi ~ I'll be back later.

Good morning ladies,

DIANNE, I'm sorry to hear that your mom is back in the hospital. Don't feel quilty, seeing love ones suffer is not very easy. You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers. BTW, congratulations on being so close to goal, and enjoy having the kids home!

ZOE, so you were a "Survivor"!! I bet it was awesome canoeing down the river. Just think of the calories you burned.

JEN, you girls make me feel quilty. Unfortunately, my ex-husband always create turmoil for our family. From that my girls have self esteem issues, and there was a lot of acting out on both of their parts. Most of the time I felt totally inadequate as a parent. So as they have gotten older and moved out on their own, our life is more peaceful. But I sometimes feel quilty for enjoying the freedom. It's great that you have a good relationship with your kids. Have fun shopping for your son's new place!

Well, I better get off. Hello to the rest of you, take care.

Dianne,
Nice to hear from you. Don't feel guilty. I am sureit is out of love for your mom. I sometimes feel that way about my dad. My mom said to him once after he was complaining about this or that
"At least you are alive" and he said "If you call this living." It was so sad. He has cardiomyopathy and will die with it and is very frail. He used to be so strong and was always running around. It is so sad when the parents start to go down hill.
My prayers are with you. Enjoy Alana and Justin.
And CONGRATS
on your loss. I didn't realize you were so close either. That is great!

Glad you had a great time on the canoe trip Zoe. I'll bet it was so much fun.

Hope you all have a nice Monday. My 2 boys have end of the year parties today and Brittany gets out at 11:30 so I will be doing the kid thing. Their last day is tomorrow. I cannot wait to sleep in. They are not allowed to come into my room until after 9:00. Unless there is blood present. :D

Dianne,
I was not aware that you were so close to goal. WTG chica!! Muy buena!! Esta fantastica! Mi espanol esta poco a poco mas bueno.

My buds,
I was not very OP this weekend. Sat was the annual dinner/auction for my daughter's school. It was very entertaining. They did it with a Carribean theme so everyone was in tropical prints and sandles, and there was a steel drum band. The food was quite heavy. They had twice as many people come this year. I think because they made it casual. It has always been black tie optional in the past.
There is a lot of money at my daughter's school. Most of the families are silicon valley money. The two things I bid on were quickly out of my price range. The money was just flying around the room...Scary.
Since Ellen was staying at a friends house for the night we decided to go to see Star Wars after the party and of course had to have popcorn. I liked the movie, but it wasn't great. Then on Sunday, Ellen wanted to surprise Steve and I and she set out wine and cheese/crackers for us before dinner. I really didn't want to consume those points after Sat night, but it was so sweet. I didn't want to hurt her feelings. Now I'm afraid to WI in wed.

"Talk" to you all later,

Hi, Friends!

I'm back from our cold and rainy (but fun) Chicago vacation! We went to the Art Institute and Field museum, ate wonderful food and saw a very funny Wayne Brady improv. concert. We also did a lot of walking and I was so surprised to have actually lost 1.5 pounds for the week! After eating birthday cake last week and splurging in Chicago I thought I was sunk!;)

I can't catch up with everybody, so I'll just say hello to you - Terri, Zoe/Patti, Jen, JanieD, Ruth, Essie, Diane, Sandy, and Hollygirl!

Ruth, WTG on your 4.0! :spin:

Terri, Congrats. on -1 lb!:jig: (Your tip of the day was great, thanks!) Once you get organized, Colorado Springs will be a treat! It's beautiful!

Zoe, Have fun canoeing!

Jen, As Seinfeld said, "There's good naked and there's bad naked!

JanieD, You go girl! Minus 1.5 and going to a SPA!

Essie, Hope you are feeling fine!

I saw Star Wars on Sunday and I agree. It was good but I still like the originals better. The twins will be born next movie. That ought to be cool. We will see what turned him to the dark side. I hope they have a young Hans Solo and Chewy walking around.

Mel,

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!

Terri, I know you're verrryy happy about that! My rule of thumb as far as my kids went was also, "if there's no blood it can't be that bad..." and they survived. I hope this is a long fun-filled summer for your family. It's so sad to read about your Dad's condition. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Ruth, no matter how good of a job we strive to do in raising our kids, it is out of our hands at a certain point. I'm sure you provided as much balance and good example to your girls as was possible. You continue to do so by going to college and getting great grades....I'm proud of you!

Zoe, glad you had cooler weather for the canoe trip. Was it fun?

Janie, Ellen is so cool! That is such a neat thing she did for you and Steve.

Mel, you were in my stomping grounds over the weekend.....lousy weather wasn't it? I absolutely love Chicago. Good going on the loss!

This morning I had my final exam, am finished for the summer YEESSSS!!! I won't get my exam grade till Thursday.

I've got so many projects planned that I've been putting off due to studying...and the cold weather. I've also got to buckle down and get seriously OP. I've planned menus for the next week, which will help me feel more in control. Can't forget that Spring Challenge!

Hi Mel,
Talk about cold, rainy weather. It usually doesn't rain hardly at all here from May 1 through the end of Sept, but the past 3 days we have been hit with a great big storm out of Alaska. Rain, hail, and some areas had tornados. Yosemite and the Sierras had snow. I am glad that the bad weather didn't spoil your trip. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. Congrats on your loss!

Terri,
Yea, we did have fun on Sat. I sat at the dinner with my friend that is the second level supervisor of the person who I applied for the job from. I asked her "I know officially you can't tell me anything, but what can you tell me?;)" SHe said she hadnt' talked to him about it directly but she did say that she hadn't heard anything negative regarding my interview. I guess no news is still good news. She said that he has one more person to interview that he is definately not interested in but for some administrative reason has to go through the motions anyway. I hope to finally hear some time next week. This has been going on for so long. She originally told me about the position last Nov. It didn't get posted until mid Jan. I applied in late Jan and didn't get interviewed until late Apr. It is now late May and I still haven't heard. That's the government for you:lol:

HI to Zoe, Es, Holly, Sandy, Myra, Jen, Pogo, Ruth, Dianne. Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Hello friends

I'm having a really hard time getting on track here. I start each day with a promise of doing good and I end each day in a prayer, asking for God's help to do better the next day. I have no idea what is wrong with me but I am hoping that it all works itself out soon or I'll be back to the "slit my throat" stage.

I love Wayne Brady too. I saw him in the DFW airport. He got off the same plane that my husband was on. I saw him walk past me and I looked at him (close enough to brush my arm) and thought "wow, I know him". When Greg got off the plane, he said "did you see Wayne Brady?" He is sooooo cute!!

Sorry not to mention everyone but I have some things to do before settling in to watch the season finale of NYPD Blues. Have a wonderful evening.

Okay, am I out of touch here? Who is Wayne Brady?!?!

I've been SO busy at church/work these past 3 days, and I've been eating horribly. Must get back on track in earnest tomorrow.

I'm beat right now, just ran a TV camera for a 2-hr H.S. graduation ceremony at our church; did the same thing last night. Fun, but tiring! So ... I'm off to bed now and hopefully sweet dreams :)

HollyGirl,
I hope you feel better tomorrow.
Wayne Brady is on "Whose Line Is It Anyway" with Drew Carey.
There are 4 people and the do improvisation skits. It is soooo funny. He and 2 men from Canada (Colin and Ryan) are pretty much the regulars and then they have a floater guy or girl fill in to make it 4. Ryan is also on the Drew Carey show. I don't watch that though. Wayne is so talented. He sings so well.

ZOE,
That is so cool that you saw him. My kids love him.
Good luck with the program. Remember NEVER GIVE UP! You will do it! Hope you enjoyed NYPD. My husband watched it. He also has to watch West Wing tomorrow. I don't watch either of those. I love Dennis Franz. Hope I spelled his name right.

JanieD,
I hope you get the job. that would be so cool. Please keep us posted. I know all about the govt. Bruce works for them.
Good luck.

Thanks for your kind words. I would be lost without my kids. They are such a comfort to me. I really love summer. Thanks about my dad. He is a wonderful husband and daddy and he deserves so much more.
Hope the weather gets warmer for you. How is the temp. supposed to be for memorial Day?
Good luck and keep us posted on your grade. I know you did well.

Hello Friends!

I had a nice day off yesterday and enjoyed (what's wrong with me ?) cleaning house with the windows open. Took the dogs to the park for a romp, made a special dinner for my DH and watched the season finale of NYPD Blue.

Zoe, Wasn't the ending touching? I almost cryed! Lucky you to see Wayne Brady in person! He is so funny, charming and keeps it CLEAN (ok, so I'm a prude;) ). We laughed our heads off! When I'm trying to get back OP, I eat high end comfort foods that I really love and make me feel satisfied for the first day or two, using personal choices and extra calories (I'm on personal choice plan). Examples for me are:

1. Gorgonzola Pasta w/Mushroom and Pepper - 1 box of fresh sliced mushrooms, 2 oz. crumbled gorgonzola, 1 tsp. butter, 6 oz dry spagetti. Bring water to boil, add salt to taste, mushrooms and pasta. Bring to second boil and cook according to pkg. directions. Toss with cheese and freshly ground black pepper.
=3 bread + 2 pro + 2 veg + 1 fat (yummmmmm:T )

2. Spinach burritos with fat free all white meat turkey dogs, string cheese and sauteed veggies - Use butter flavor PAM to saute Videlia onions & green pepers until soft. Use fat free spinach tortilla (or whole wheat) and roll up sauteed veggies, 1 dog and 1 stick of string cheese. Microwave on low until cheese melts. = 1 bread + 1.5 pro + 1 veg (sauerkraut is also good if you don't have time to saute veggies.)

Anyway, sometimes planning, shopping and preparing favortie program foods makes it easier for me to get excited about being OP again.

Terri, You must be so proud of your children! Congratulations! They must get their intelligence from their Mom!:)

Jen, Are you in Chicago? We love Chicago! This was my first time to ride the trains and it was fun. School is out here tomorrow and, as a public librarian, I'm looking forward to a little break from school assignment questions! I'm still working on the spring challenge, and hope to make my 10%!

Hi, Essie!

JanieD, I think of CA. as being perpetually sunny and pleasant. I think this weird weather must be global! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your job.

Hi, Hollygirl!

Bye for now, everybody be good to yourselves and eat favorite OP food today!

Just a quick check-in between meetings today. WI this morning and lost .5 lb not as much as I would of liked but I'll take it. Every little bit counts. Been good about staying OP this week. Weekends are harder and this one is a 3 day.

Got to go,

Essie,
I hope your arm gets better. Poor thing.

Mel,
I love cleaning with the windows open. It is the best feeling.
Those recipes sounded good. Thanks for your kind words.

JanieD,
Congrats. .5 is great. It all adds up. You go!

Well, today is the first day of summer vacation. Bradley and Brittany were in her room making up math multiplication problems
on her dry erase board. They were solving them. Brittany said she wants to do that to keep him in practice for the 4th grade. I planned to do that but was going to wait a week.
I plan to read a chapter book (taking turns reading) every week with the boys. Also I want to have a half hour (no tv) of silent reading every evening. We all have our own book and read together in the living room. We did it last year and it worked out well. They actually wanted to read more during school.
Well got to start dinner in a few. Hope you are all having a wonderful hump day.

Janie, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the new job. Do you find it's easier to be patient now that you're in your 40's? I could never stand the suspense/excitement of waiting for something....waiting patiently was an unknown to me! I do find, as I mature (? ) that it comes easier. Good going on the loss! .5 is better than a gain :)

Es, I've missed you. :( I hope your arm is feeling better each day. Staying off the keyboard is a good idea.

Mel, I was born and raised in Chicago, on the NW side. We now live in a suburb about 18 miles nw of O'Hare airport. It's such a great city; we try to get downtown at least a couple of times a year. We've got friends who have a condo overlooking Navy Pier, and I love going to their place for the view!

Terri, too funny about the kids already doing schoolwork! I used to LOVE to play school when I was young, and remember starting right after school let out. The family reading is so important, it's wonderful that you've established the routine.

I've got a meeting this evening, so I made the Greek Salad hero sandwiches that were featured on the recipe page of this site. The "dressing" consists of cukes, tomato, garlic, feta and vinegar.....best part is the whole sub is only 5 points! They smell and look great, I'll eat after I post this.

Tomorrow is my birthday, and I've promised myself that I'll celebrate the next one (the BIG one!) in better shape than I am now. I've had two good OP days in a row. Tomorrow we're having dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant.......definitely not OP, but I'll just have yogurt for breakfast and salad for lunch.

HI  Dianne, Myra, Zoe, Ruth, Sandy, Holly Girl....didn't miss anyone, did I?

Just popping in for a minute for Jen!

Hope you have a great day - enjoy your meal at your favorite restaurant! You've caught up to me now and I think Terri's right - we have to stay 49 forever so they don't kick us out of this joint! LOLOLOL!

Hi to everyone and I'll be back later when I can really "speak" - soooooooooo busy at work right now.

:hb: Happy Birthday Jen :hb:
Don't feel guilty...on WW you are supposed to enjoy once in a while. Have a great one. My DH will be 49 on Sat. I asked him if he wanted a big party since I know that this is the last birthday he will ever want to celebrate ;) He said no, cause he really hates being the center of attention...unless he is lecturing in front of a class that is.
I am still waiting regarding the job. The waiting really hasn't been too bad because I still really like the people that I am currently working with. I just feel the Lord is telling me it is time for a change. I have been in this division for 12 years.
Have fun opening up the pool this weekend.

Everyone,
Thank you all for the congrats. As I said, Every little bit counts.

Terri,
WHen do you leave for CO? Spending 6 weeks in the Mountains sounds wonderful. I was sorry to hear about your dad. Where is he? Do you get to see him often? I was thinking that Steve and my folks
are so far away. I don't know how we'll be able to take care of them when/if the time comes that we need to.
Dianne and Sandy, at least you guys are able to see your parents on a regular basis. That is such a Blessing.

Ruth,
WHat are you doing with yourself with no school. Enjoying every minute of freedom I bet.

Mel,
Today is your "Classic California Day". It is sunny, dry and warm. I knew there was a reason we moved here

Hello, Friends!

I have to work Friday and Satuday, but will enjoy a two day holiday weekend! My brother and I have the same birthday, a year apart, on Memorial Day and will celebrate with our families in St. Augustine. I'll feel like spring chicken at only 47!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy 49th Birthday (and holding), Dear Jen, Happy Birthday to you! :hb: :spin: BTW, I love Navy Pier too, didn't get to go this time.

Terri, I admire your family time plan for the summer, such is the stuff from which memories are made! Some of my fondest memories are of my father reading to our family at night. Dickens, the English poets, Poe... wonderful seasonal prose at holidays. Even though he is gone, I can hear his voice and recall favorite verses and passages with great tenderness.

JanieD, Congratulations on your -.5 weight loss! I'll take a loss over a gain ANY day!:D Enjoy your classic California weather this weekend, Florida has rain, wind and cold weather!

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Love,
Mel

Happy Birthday Jen! :hb: Hope you had a great day!

JanieD,
Thanks for asking about my dad. My parents are in the same house I grew up in in Ohio. It is about 700 miles from here. We go up every Christmas. We have never missed one Christmas since we left in 1983. Wouldn't feel right. My kids looooove it. Everybody lives there on both sides. They get spoiled for 2 weeks. We also go up in the summer every other year. I cry every time I leave cause I think it will be the last time I see him.
His medicines are what is keeping him going.
We are leaving for Co. around the second week in June. We will stay until the first of Aug. The kids start back to school on the 8th. The Air Force wanted Bruce to stay there until the 15th but there was no way we would let the kids miss 1-2 weeks of school at the beginning like that. So Bruce said he would drive us back to Al. and then fly back if he had to. They wanted him to move there permanently but with Britts being a Junior next year we didn't want her to have to change High Schools. They are so fragile at that age. I think her world would end. Watch her fall in love with it out there, afterall there is the Air Force academy there. And then she will want us to move. We might have to kill her then. It will be an experience. We are taking a small U-Haul.
Hope your husband has a wonderful birthday.

Mel,
I love what you said about your dad reading to you. What a loving father. You will cherish those memories forever.
I love St. Augustine. We have gone there quite a few times when we lived in Fl. I hope you have a great time.

Tonight Bruce and I went out for coffee (him) and Tea (me).
We went out to discuss what we need to do to get ready for our trip and there was a band that came in and played. They were sooooo good. I wanted to sit there all night and listen. I am going to find out if they will be there next Thurs. and take Brittany. She would love them. It was so relaxing. Bruce got a dessert and I didn't. I wanted to come home and have a ww sundae for 2 points. He had a beer and I resisted. I shocked myself.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day!:T

Hi All,
Haven't got time to read all the notes, but I was wondering how that Spring Challenge is coming along with everyone? I'm weighing in at noon today. I've been walking alot and eating more salads.

Hopefully, I'll get time to sit at the computer and catch up with everyone.

Happy Long Weekend!

I'm back...just weighed in at 150.5. I'm happy enough with that for this week. I just got the journal out and wrote down my breakfast and lunch. I think it's just back to basics if I want to break that 150 barrier.

My daughter is home from college and working an unpaid internship. Son #1 fininshs classes today at his HS. Graduates on 6/4. Son #2 is a freshman at that same HS. We moved in Sept. to a smaller house/nicer area. But it needs lots of work and it's a little bit crowded when we're all here.

When it feels crowded, I'll just go out for a walk!

Longer letter over the weekend hopefully.

Well, new carpet came yesterday and it looks great! Now for the rest of my 4-day weekend.....

tomorrow is my birthday and I'm still not sure what we're doing. Funny you should mention the "49 and holding" thing because I was just going to ask about that... I'm not 49 yet but in a few years, I will be. This is 47 for me......

Thanks, everyone, for the great birthday wishes! It was a nice day, and we'll be celebrating again today when Jess, Mike and the boys come for an overnight visit. :D

Janie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STEVE! !

Mel, :hb: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! hope you have a great day.

Zoe, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! ! to you :hb: I hope yours is wonderful.

So many Geminis here!

Terri, you showed great restraint in passing up dessert and a beer. Way to go! There are many times that I have absolutlely no will-power, no backbone, and just give in to everything, and have everything. You've certainly got a lot of planning and preparation before you make the trip out west. Once you're there safe and sound it'll be a relief. You'll have to make sure you keep us posted!

Pogo, wow you'll have a full house this summer! I'm sure you'll break the 150's if you're back to journalling. Good luck.

Es, how's your arm? :( I miss you!!!

Sandy, I'll bet your garden looks great. I love perennials, they're like family members, each with their own personality, likes and dislikes. Joe built permanent raised beds for the veggie garden this year. No more roto-tilling!

Did I tell you that I got a B on my final? Which means my grade for the course is a B. I was so glad it was over with! Spent yesterday in the yard gardening, I'm so far behind due to the weather being lousy and school. It's raining today, but sunny warm (70) weather is promised for Sun. and Mon. We're opening the pool and getting the solar cover on so it warms up as quickly as possible.

We went to see Joey's new apartment last night; he moves on the 1st. It's exciting for him; a nice building, no worries for Mom!

Have a Happy Memorial Day, let's remember all of those who fought/served for the USA.

Hello my buddies

Just posted a big post and got knocked off aol (UGH!). I'll try to reconstruct, lol.

Goodness all these May babies!

Jen - Glad yours was a good one, enjoy tonight with Jess and family. And big congrats on your B grade - WOW, good job!
Glad to hear Joey has a "mom-approved" apartment!

Mel - Happy Birthday too you! Enjoy.

Janie - Happy Birthday to Steve! Oh, and I've been meaning to tell you, I loved your "spanglish", lol, sooooooo cute!

Zoe Girl - Happy Birthday you too!!!!!!!! Have a great one!

Terri - Good job on passing up the dessert! I meant to ask you, where will you be living in Colorado - on a base of some kind with other employees and their families?

Es - mi amiga, I'm sorry to hear about your arm sweetie. Hope it gets fixed soon. Miss you!

Hi Ruth, HollyGirl, Myra and everyone and anyone else I may have forgotten. Hope you all have a great weekend. And like Jen says, remember our vets especially at a time like this. This morning there was an older man in line in front of me at the store and he had on a jacket that said Korea and the dates he fought, etc. When I got outside he was getting into his car and I said, Happy Memorial Day and Thank You!!!! He smiled and tipped his hat, he looked so happy to get a thank you. That's all it takes to show that you remember what they did for us, such a little thing right? Anyway, I felt good too.

Oh, almost forgot, I lost 1.2 lbs at wi today for a grand total of
10 lbs. (finally!!!) so I got my ribbon that says "I lost 5 lbs. and under it another little star that says 5 lbs." - SHEESH! How cheap is WW???? They couldn't give me a 10 lbs. ribbon??? Guess they don't have much money,  Anyway, I'm happy to have lost 10 lbs even though it took a long time.

Well, let me go, gonna go visit my mom - she's now in a new nursing home, this is like musical chairs, hospital/nursing home/hospital/nursing home, what a vicious cycle. Anyway, at least the pneumonia is gone, so that's a good thing.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Hugs,
Dianne

Zoe,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :hb:
So glad your carpet came in. I know how exciting that is.

Jen,
CONGRATS on the B. You did great! Glad it is over?
:jig: :jig: That is wonderful that Joey is in a safe place. Now, do you actually think you won't worry? It would be heaven if we didn't worry.
Once we get to Colorado it will be fine. I might talk to the vet about a tranquilizer for ... me. No Tanner, no me, no Tanner. I am confused. :dizzy:

Mel,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you too. Boy, so many in one week. Too  :hb:

Dianne,
Congratulations for losing that 10 pounds. "Weigh to go"
Bruce is going to Colorado Springs next week and he already has two realtors looking. It has to be a safe place, pool, 3 bedrooms (at least) and an extra room and a place where they take a dog. Not too many restrictions. I trust him. I let him pick out the rental for when we first moved here. He did a great job!

I thanked a bunch of guys that were at the WALLS in D.C. and you could tell how much it means to them. Great job Dianne.
Whenever we see boys in fatigues my boys run over and shake their hands and say thank you. They always giggle. We cried at the Veterans Day parade. All the vets look so proud.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!!!!!!

Morning ladies,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Memorial weekend. My hubby and I are planning to go out of town, but probably will not leave until Monday or Tuesday. Problem is, we don't know where we are going yet!! I've thought about Memphis and maybe driving up into the mountains from there. Oh well, I just want to get away for one last time before I go back to school and he has to get out there and find a job!! Which will be soon for both.

Wow, I've been off the computer for a week or so, it will take me an hour to catch up on everybody, but here goes.....

DIANNE, wow, 10 lbs, that is wonderful. Keep up the good work. Remember "they" say that the slower you lose the better!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to everybody: ZOE, MEL, JEN and also Janie's STEVE.

JEN, congratulation on the B. Don't you hate waiting for grades? Are you taking any summer classes. I'm taking 9 hours, I'm hoping I haven't overloaded myself.

JANIE, well, I've been enjoying my time off doing not a whole lot of anything. I've gotten some of the cleaning done that I was planning, but nothing like what I wanted done. I even worked in the yard one day, that was a small miracle, cause I'm not a yard person!! I did manage to send some packages of genealogy information to people, a couple of them have been waiting for over 2 years for the information. The one thing I haven't done is lost any weight!! I've really got to get back on track!!

MEL, I didn't realize you were in Florida. I have a cousin that lives in Jacksonville, she loves St. Augustine, she wants to move there when her husband retires. I have another cousin who will retire in Melbourne in the next couple of years. I keep telling my husband since I have family in the state, we are moving too!!!

Well, my mother-in-law is calling so I better see what she wants. Take care and have a great memorial day.

Hello My Buddies:wave:

I haven't been here in such a long time I don't know where to start.

RUTH, wherever you decide to go it'll be nice just to get away. I would like to get away with Pete for a few days. I hate leaving my Susie (chihuahua) behind. She is very attached to us & we are to her. It's like having a child. Have a great time.

TERRI, your trip sounds very exciting. About the tranquilizers for you & Tanner does not sound like a bad idea. Is the whole family still on WW?

DIANNE, AMIGA! What's up Girl! So you missed me huh. I missed you too. WTG with your 10 lb. loss. Geezz, you would think they would have given you the 10 lb. ribbon!! Once I lost 5 lbs. & I didn't get anything. It wasn't my regular leader so I let it go. Whose in the hospital?

ZOE, Happy Birthday!! I read in one of your posts that you were having a hard time getting back on track. I've been there the last 2 weeks but you know me & Mondays. Brand new week, starting fresh! Hope your birthday was a real special one.;)

JEN, B on your final - so cool:cool: Can't believe it's that time of year already for opening up your pool. It seems that it was not so long ago you were telling us you got a pool. How time flies.

POGO, even though it's going to be a little crowded at home it's nice having the kids around. Good going with your journal. I always start out with writing down breakfast & lunch then it's downhill from there. I always think I'm going to remember but no such luck. I have to get back in the habit of writing every single bite.

MEL, Happy Birthday to you.:)

I'm back!

I'm always afraid of posting a long post & losing it. It's happened a couple of times already.

My arm was better but today it's bothering me. I think it's because I went food shopping & was carrying the bags. Also, it could be the weather. It's very damp today. I haven't been doing too well with WW:( I haven't given up, it's just that I stopped journaling & exercising has not been happening. BUT, that doesn't mean I've given up on our Spring Challenge. I still have 3 weeks. I know I'm not going to lose 17 lbs. by then but even if it's 10 I'll be very happy.

Gotta go browse around. I have alot of catching up to do. It feels so good to be back.:D

Happy Memorial Day:wave:

ES, HI!!!!!
Yes, we are all on it. Britts lost 2 last week. She is off and on. Stays the same when off and then will lose a few and then off again. She is going down slowly. Brandon watches like a hawk. he either maintains or loses. They are so into it. Bruce is staying the same for now. He has about 15 more to go. he burns out easy.
Glad to hear your arm is doing better but that shopping can do it.

Ruth, Wherever you and your hubby go it'll be fun. That sounds like what my hubby wants to do when Bradley leaves.

JANIE, so sorry to hear you & Steve aren't feeling well. Pete was sick for 1 week. He NEVER gets sick! He had chills, sore throat, aches all over, a headache & he slept a lot. By Saturday we were in the ER cause he said he couldn't swallow. His throat felt like it was closing up. The Dr. said there's something going around. He gave him antibiotics. He's feeling much better. Hope you feel better soon.

Terri, you & your family are just too cute. All WW. I guess if I had somebody to do it with it would be more fun than an effort. I went to buy a pair of jeans today & I'm still a 14. If I would have been a 16 I would have cried!!! I want to get down to a size 10.

ZOE, I saw your Labor Day Challenge thread. I'll do it. I'm always down for a challenge. I'm going for 20 lbs.

This was the quietest Memorial Day holiday I've ever seen. I guess a lot of people went away. I like quiet:)

I miss our attachments. :(

Hi everyone,

I'm pooped after the weekend! It was a very productive weekend, my daughter & family stayed till yesterday morning, Joe and I both had a great visit with Brandon and Matt.

We opened the pool, the water is a very chilly 64 degrees, so needless to say no one was anxious to jump in. The veggie garden is planted, as is the herb garden. I've still got lots of flowers to plant, but will take my time and enjoy doing a bit each day this week.

Dianne, congrats on the 10 pound mark!! Good going :D

Ruth, wherever you decide to go....have fun and relax. I'm not taking a summer class, too much gets crammed into a shorter semester. I'd freak out. Good luck on your classes.

Terri, it'll be such an exciting summer for your family! I'm curious as to how much weight Brittany has lost, she sounds like she's really sticking to it. Good for her.

Es, hope Pete's feeling much better. What a lousy bug to catch! Carrying those grocery bags will do it, be careful with your arm. I know you'll end up the Spring Challenge by having a loss, whether or not you reach your 10%........any loss is better than none!

Janie, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Take care!

Just a quickie.......

Dianne......the Sansone walking tapes are great! We finally have the video/audio things all hooked up and I was able to use the tapes for the first time this morning. It is definitely going to be my favorite workout in my collection. Absolutely no strain on the knees, which is a big plus. Didn't use the blue balls  but will work them in tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dianne. If anyone's interested, I bought the 3 pack w/ the bb on amazon, for under $30. They're worth it!

Dianne,
Congratulations!!! 10 lb. is a major victory!!! WTG girl. How is your mom? Glad to hear she is over the pnemonia.

Es,
It sounds like Pete had something similar. I have most of those symptoms also. I am now on antibiotics and am starting to feel better but they are totally screwing up my intestinal tract.
ALso I still don't have any energy at all. I had to do laundry yesterday because we were totally out of towels. After I put the wash in I had to go take a nap. I wish my energy would come back, I want to get back to exersizing. I miss my walks and my kick boxing.

Terri,

JanieD,
I am happy to say that I am 43. Anyone younger than 43? My brother, brother-in law and siter in- law are all going to be 49 in 2 months. I am not as nervous now but I just found it is 1200 miles away. I have also never been further west than western Tennessee.
Hope you are all feeling better. It sucks when everyone gets sick.

Zoe,
Good luck. I know you can do it. That is a neat challenge thread.

Essie,
You will get there. I just know it. 12's are right around the corner. Hope Pete is doing better. I think the point lady is losing the motivation. It can happen soooo fast.

Jen,
Glad to hear you had a good weekend with all of your babies.
Brittany has lost a total of about 20 lbs. She put a few on at Christmas and when we went to Washington D.C. and she just got done getting those off so she is maintaining and worrying about gaining in Colorado. I told her that Woman's World has called Colorado Springs the fittest city in the U.S. and we were going to try to live up to that. I told her we would not bring fat clothes. That way we have no choice.

Well, we just bought Harry Potter and we are getting ready to watch it. I just wanted to say that we went to Pizza Hut to try the new insider pizza and there were two medium pizzas in front of me and I ate 2 pieces. I lwft the rest right under my noise. It was so cool. I felt so good walking out of there. Normally I would have eaten at least 4.

Hi my buddies

How is everyone after this wonderful long weekend we had? I had a great weekend, lots of family time.

Strawberry Irish Puffy Jade (Jessalyn) turned one this weekend (would you believe it?). So we celebrated her birthday at my step-daughter's house and then on Monday my step-son had a barbecue at his new house - very cool. We had a great time. It was funny cause we had 3 sets of grandchildren there and they each have a different name for me. My biological grandson Andrew calls me Nana, my step-daugher's kids call me Gramma Dianne and my step-son's kids call me Papa Dianne. Its very confusing when they're all together at the same time, LOL!! But we had a ball and the weather was fantastic.

Jen - I'm so glad you like the walking tapes! Just be careful with those blue balls - they did me in, lol - I'm afraid to use them again!

Es - the tapes are 1 mile, 2 miles and 3 miles and the (dreaded) blue balls come with the package of tapes. They all come in one package. I haven't tried the 3 miles tape yet, but I will. Now that the weather is good, I like to walk in the park by the water - so cool!

Well, gotta go shower and iron my clothes for tomorrow. Hi to EVERYONE - hope you all have a great day tomorrow. talk to yous soon!

Hugs,

Dianne

Someone asked if anyone here is younger than 43 -- I'm 41 (can I still be in the group?!?!)

Anyways -- I'm not doing well at all. For the past two weeks I haven't even been tracking points, and I've not been eating OP (probaby why I haven't been tracking points). I feel like I'm sabotaging my potential success. For example, I ate okay today for breakfast and for lunch, but when I got home I immediately ate (1) baked beans, (2) a salad, (3) a granola/cereal bar, and (4) I don't know how many little "candies" -- melted chocolate chips over those crispy little Chinese noodle things (I made them the other day when I was depressed). Then of course I felt horrible and wished I had given more thought to what I was doing.

Any suggestions? I can't even get motivated enough to exercise at all. I have two big events this summer -- a picnic with friends from work/church on June 24, and a weekend away with my sister on August 2-4. I'd like to look nice for both of those events.

HELP ME! What can I do to get & stay motivated? What can I do to convince myself to stick with something long enough to see results? I'm seriously beginning to wonder if I need psychological counseling or something.

Thanks in advance for listening once again. I know I'm a drain, and I really want to turn that around and be a motivator.

Dianne,
Congrats to little Jessalyn. That is sweet. I remember when she was tiny. Going fast. I love all the different names.
My kids call my mom Memaw. What is funny is that Britts started that soon after she began to talk. My sister and brother called my grandma that. britts didn't know that. There are a lot of kids that call their grandmas that. Wonder how they come up with it?

HollyGirl,
I say just start over and work on one aspect at a time. Pretend you have just stepped foot in a meeting for the first time. Nothing feels better than a fresh start. Good luck.

Have a great Wed. night everyone. The week is almost over. YAY!!!!

Hi my Bud's

I feel like my wheels are spinning this week.....busy, busy, busy. I just got home and tht wonderful man of mine is playing again......golf.....so I'm debating if I should page him and see what's up or just be lazy here and use that as an excuse to not cook....."I didn't know when you'd be home so I didn't want to make anything that would sit and get bad". :D:D

Dianne ~  Wow, I haven't heard that since moving from Rockland County, NY....(Oy Vey)

Terri ~ YEAH to BRITTANY!!!!!!!!! You must be so proud!! (and rightfully so)

Hollygirl ~ I know from where you speak. I have not been OP for more than 3 days at a time for going on 4 months now. I have GAINED all the weight I originally lost and have been so discouraged about it. I recently made a decision to challenge myself (and others) to lose a certain amount of weight by Labor Day. I have a long term goal and a few short term goals. If you want to join in, there's a thread at http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=16616 ~ since starting that post, I've revamped my thinking and my process so that I won't be stressed about it. I am going to post my modifications later. Come take a look but if not, just take one day at a time. We all start over and for me, it's a weekly thing lately......head held high, you can do it!! :D

Hi to all the rest of you's guys....gonna go change my clothes. Later......
