LA Weight Loss - Victories for the week ending Jan 16th
01-12-2009, 12:57 PM
Not that I have any, but I loved reading everyone's victories! So motivational!
Ok, I'll dig deep and post my victory for the day...I have a renewed sense of urgency to stay on plan this week- I gained 3lbs over the weekend due to some liquid starches and it scared the pants off me so I WILL stay POP this week!
01-12-2009, 01:59 PM
i printed out some LA-style journal sheets so i can at least keep track of what i'm eating throughout the day....it's so easy for me to forget with my prego brain. and i'd like to start back into the habit or at least attempt. i'm sure i've been eating way over what i actually need. (note--i'm not following an eating plan to lose weight, i'm just writing down what i'm eating throughout the day.)
so it's a start for me. we'll see how long i keep up with it. :)
01-12-2009, 02:29 PM
Oh, doens't that suck, Julie? It will be gone by tomorrw, I'm sure :)
Jillian......I think that is a wonderful idea. Before you know it, tiny little Xanthia Rose will be here, and if you get into a good habit (journaling) now, you will probably have a better chance of finding time to do it. Are you thinking of breastfeeding?
01-12-2009, 02:32 PM
i don't think i'll be BF'ing. i only did it for 3wks with Julia because i wasn't making enough milk. and i didn't even attempt with Jag. my milk just never came in with either of them. it was weird. i was all expecting to get engorged and uncomfortable, etc. but it just never happened for me. we'll see what happens with this baby. if it comes in, i'll try it out again, but if not, not gonna stress about it. i guess it's just what my body does.
01-12-2009, 02:38 PM
that is the perfect attitude, Jillian. I do hope it works out for you this time, but it is nothing to beat yourself up about if it doesn't. Each one of my kids BF'd differently.......and only 1 out of 5 was easy.....that was my second DD. I will hope for you that Xanthia is a natural, and the two of you can enjoy the experience :) I can't wait to, "meet," her!!!!

Halfway through day 1 of TO! It's going pretty good!
01-13-2009, 11:36 AM
GL CECIL! Gosh I just hate TO, I think I only did it one time bc I couldn't do it, so more power to ya!
I just did 2 miles with Leslie. I'm committing to 2 miles before I watch TBL tonight. I really need to step up my game.
I want to hear everyone's victories today!
01-13-2009, 11:44 AM
I didn't stray from TO once yesterday! Perfect plus I did 30 min on the treadmill 20 min on the elliptical and 6 reps of 10 on the ab machine!
I am excited for TBL tonight too Amy! You can do it!
01-13-2009, 04:47 PM
Victory for the week - still off of caffeine!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Huh? No, it's going well, really! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz
01-13-2009, 05:34 PM
Kim, I would just have to stay home and sleep for a week if I tried that! 7 pounds down! That is amazing.
Cecil, Wow! that is a lot for a day you are doing TO. I tend to take it easy on myself when I do that.
01-13-2009, 06:23 PM
Thanks Barbara! I actually just wanted to occupy my time so I didn't want to eat. HA!
01-13-2009, 10:00 PM
Cecilia- You're a crack up. I amd with Amylou... I HATE TO!!!! I give up halfway through hte second day which is not a good thing... I just can't stomach anymore chicken or veggies!!!
I am excited for TBL tonight too!
I walked for 25 minutes yesterday, did 20 jumping jacks and 40 chrunches! Of course I am feeling it today, but that's ok! I am going easier today, just some chrunches and Wii Fit. On WW, I considerit Moderate Exercise!
Can't wait to see what surprise is thrown at TBL tonight!
01-13-2009, 11:27 PM
Oh I don't want to spoil TBL for anyone... but I am sad to see that person leave. : ( Tonight I did 30 min fast walk on the treadmill 20 on the elliptical and 6 reps of 10 on the ab machine. AND I MADE IT THROUGH TO! Time for bed!
Amy great job on the work out! Did you ever check out the gym with your SIL?
I WANT WII FIT! Have a great night! More Victories to come tomorrow!

I'm pretty proud of my NSV today.
I unexpectedly got called to go up north after my hearings today, so I had a pretty tiny lunch. I was starving by the time I made it to the office. The first thing I see on the receptionists desk: cookies from a local bakery.
I walked past them, barely giving them a glance. Victory! I scream inside. Then, evil skinny receptionist picks up bag of thousand calorie cookies and brings them toward me. Oh god! I scream inside. No! No! No! I shake my head violently, closing my eyes. She takes them away. Then, evil skinny boss comes out of his office with some sort of speciality cookie (aka 500 calorie cookie). I say no before he even makes it to my desk. Phew. Then, out of nowhere evil skinny boss returns with cookies, are you sure? he asks. YES!!! Can't have cookies!
Cookie crisis averted. Yeah baby!!!
01-14-2009, 07:05 AM
hahaha evil skinny boss asked twice? Good for you!
At my office, the gathering area around where everyone brings in food and leaves it there is right outside my office door...it's awful! Gotta love the comments coming in..."Ohh this is so good! Why aren't you having any?"
But gotta stay away from those dangerous BLT's (bites, licks, tastes)

01-14-2009, 08:19 AM
Great recap Amy! And congrats on resisting the evils.
01-14-2009, 08:54 AM
My victory this week has been making the change and starting this program! I only have the one day under my belt and it was pretty tough in the evening, to avoid the snacks, or beer during the hockey game but I'm sure it will get easier!
I seriously considered putting off starting just a bit longer but I'm tired of wasting time...If I had of done it last year I could be at goal today...and I don't want to be saying the same thing next year. So here I am! Day 2 of fast forward. How did all those on TO make out this week?
01-14-2009, 09:39 AM
wow.......Amylou, Jersey Amy and Cecilia........you guys ROCK. I am seriosly thinking of copying Jersey Amy's build up to exercise. And, Amylou............what a cookie nightmare. I am so proud of you for resisting. The whole work treats thing just sucks. If they don't ask........you have to wonder why, and if they do ask.....you want to pound knobs on their heads for being so inconsiderate........and I can tell you........if I had bakery cookies around me.......it might be all over. I can mostly control my food environment.
01-14-2009, 09:40 AM
Oh, and Kristin......WTG. It gets easier and easier :)
01-14-2009, 10:42 AM
Amylou - GREAT JOB! I can totally relate to the cookie crisis! I was always the one in the office that would be first up for cakes/cookies/candies. At times over the years I would be on a "diet" and skip the treats, no one knew why and they would badger my "why aren't you having some? This is delicious!". It got to the point that when I would think about sticking to the diet and skipping the treats, an evil voice would come into my head and say "everyone thinks your an idiot for missing out on the treats, you know that next month you will not be on the diet anymore and will be partaking in the treats anyway, so why not just have some today?"
So when I started LAWL I told everyone that I came in contact with! Everyone knew what I was doing and what I could and couldn't have and guess what?! They all became very supportive and avoided offering me treats! At the potlucks some people would even jump onboard and make sure that we had a fruit tray and a veggie tray! It got me through and now that I've lost a considerable amount of weight they still accept when I'm willing to try a SMALL piece of whatever is offered that day, they leave it up to me and I am confident in my newfound sense of judgement and ability to balance treats with my food for the rest of the day / week. You can get there! Stay strong :)
01-14-2009, 10:44 AM
Keep it up Kristin! It definitely does get easier, but start training now to avoid those unneccesary BLTs and beers.
I know you started the alcohol thread, but I'll post here that I really cut back my drinking for about 8weeks when I started. I think I probably only drank one time. I noticed that the next time I did have 2 glasses of wine-it hit me HARD! It was actually pretty fun being a cheap date. I tried my hardest to stay away from beer, or any of those flavored beers like Mike's hard lemonade. Those seemed to effect my weight more than wine or hard alcohol (gin and tonics). I know it's hard but it's SO worth it!
01-14-2009, 10:53 AM
Yes, I'm looking forward to being a cheap date again too! I've always drank light beer but it's gotten to the point that even 8 barely hits me...that's BAD! I am definitely giving up beer for awhile...when summer hits that's when I'll really want beer...till then an occasional wine spritzer or couple glasses of red wine is what I am thinking. ANd of course I will try to compensate by working out more on those weekends and drinking more water.
I can't wait till this day is over! Looking forward to getting to have La Lites everyday! Just wish I could find more of the Chocolate peanut butter ones...they are so good and I only have one box!
01-14-2009, 12:37 PM
Congrats on your NSV Amylou. Offices are the WORST place for a diet. Then on the other hand they can be your dump zone too. Haha! If I had fatty foods or a recipe turning out not like I planned, I would take it into the office! HAHA! That's NOT me being generous fools!!
Nicole- The building up is awesome. That chart is in this month's ssue of WW magazine. It starts small with walking 5 minutes and 5 jumping jacks. It's TOO easy almost! But by the end of the 8 weeks you're walking 30 minutes and doing 30 jumping jacks!
01-14-2009, 12:38 PM
Kristinx- Good luck witht he alcohol. I have never been much of a drinker, so I didn't miss it. There are so many beers now with lower calories. I see the commercials all the time. So when you have one, you can choose wisely. I think I remember on LAWL that 4oz of wine counted as a fruit. 4oz!!! That's like one sip!
01-16-2009, 07:27 AM
Sounds like everyone is doing great this week!! :cp:
I apologize I don't have time for personals, it's yearend/quarter end and we have twice as much work to do and half the time to do it in!! Lots of overtime until the 31st! :comp:
My small victory this week? I'm down another 2 lbs!! :yay: We have a treat cube right behind me with chips, salsa, crackers and I even brought cornflake bars (just like rice krispie bars, but with cornflakes - YUM!). Today I brought chocolate chip cookies, but will not have any, mostly because I don't like them. They are the ones that are preformed in the box, fund raiser cookies.
Back to the grind I go! Have a great OP weekend everyone!! You can do it!! :cheer2: :cheer3:
01-16-2009, 12:08 PM
My non-scale-victory this week happened this morning..
As I was paying for my coffee at the gas station after filling up, the clerk asked me if I wanted to sign up for their rewards program.. You get a little key fob card that you swipe when you fill up or buy items from the convenience store.. So I go ahead and sign up.. Well, the "premium" for signing up is a big ol' snickers bar. So as she's handing me the bar, I turn her down, telling her to give it to someone else (it will probably end up in her pocket, right?)...
So I feel pretty good about being able to resist.. I LOVE snickers bars, but haven't had a one (a full one, not the little bites) in at least a couple years...
01-16-2009, 12:21 PM
great job dan! that is definitely an awesome victory!
01-16-2009, 12:27 PM
Great job Dan!
My DB got an 8 pack of beer last night. He first tried to hide it but I told him don't worry about me, you can drink it and I had no problems not having a one :) And then I even got him on the Wii Fit after I did my workout :)
01-16-2009, 12:34 PM
keep up the good, I mean GREAT work everyone :) My victory....a 3 pund loss this week. But even greater than that.....my comittment to getting and staying healthy got a bit stronger this week. :)
01-16-2009, 03:54 PM
Kristin - was it easier to get him on the Wii fit after the 8 pack? ... as far as I know they only sell 6 packs and 12 packs here in the US. Interesting concept. I know, I live a sheltered life...
01-16-2009, 11:55 PM
Way to go everybody! :bravo:
My main victory this week has been having no binges! I'm not saying that I've been POP, but I keep working at it, lol...:D
Have a great weekend...
01-18-2009, 09:41 AM
My victory this week was going out to dinner on Friday night and not eating lots of bread or starches!!!! Overall a 3.8 lb loss this week!!!!!
01-18-2009, 11:21 AM
Yes it was easier to get him on after the 8 pack...haha. You can't get 6 packs here for most brands...us Canadians eh? We need those extra 2 beers :P
01-18-2009, 01:56 PM
WTG Heather :) My victory for this week was staying OP all week......two iin a row. Only about 50 more and I'll be to goal.....whoohooo!!!!!
