Default Special K Bars

I ate a Special K Bar (the protein kind) for Breakfast at 11:30 am and I'm still full 3 and a half hours later! It was only 180 calories!! Has anyone else experienced this?

How many grams of protein did it have?

I love them, but don't eat them much anymore. My favorite was the chocolate peanut butter - 180 cals, 6g fat, 10g protein, 24g carb. The double chocolate chip is good, too.

I actually moved on to other protein sources in the morning that gave me more protein for similar or less calories, but the Special K bars got me started eating more protein in the beginning of the weight loss process, so I'm not knocking them at all. I actually still have some in my desk drawer at work, but am more likely to eat one as an afternoon snack now rather than breakfast.

You can sometimes find good deals on the bars on Amazon.com, by the way - they are crazy expensive in the stores here in Atlanta!
When I first started out I would eat one at 9:30 and not be hungry until just before my 1:00 pm lunch time. Now, I need more calories and protein in the morning and am still hungry faster, but I think that is from the diet changes.

Never had them, but I do have the SBD high protein bars. They do keep me full for a while.

Just a heads up to anyone that wants to try a new bar without buying a whole box...many grocery stores and Target sell a number of different bars individually. I just bought a single of the Strawberry Special K bar from Smith's (owned by Kroger) so I could try it out without committing to a whole box.

Yeah, I've tried both the regular Special K bars that are 90 calories (they look like a granola bar and come in flavors like Chocolate drizzle, Vanilla, Strawberry, Blueberry, etc.) and the Special K meal replacement bars that are usually chocolate dipped and full of protein. I love 'em both, but haven't had either in awhile. I should pick those up at the grocery store. Thanks for reminding me!

I have had the strawberry ones and they are pretty good, though I do prefer Zone perfect bars to them I do eat em on occasion when I am out of Zone bars.

Sorry, I'm veering off topic, but I was reading this thread and ended up reading Botzz's blog.

Nice job on the weight loss Botzz.....and a very cool blog too.

On the protein bars. I'm new at this but I bought a box of them a week or so ago and ended up eating four of them at once.

I'm getting into the swing of healthy eating now....but that's the danger I have when I have boxes of food items that I should only eat sparingly.

I know what you mean Okpik!!! I can't be around a bag of pretzels or chips or anything like that. I eat the whole thing at once.

But yeah I'm starting to think it was the 10g of protein. I usually just have a tiny bit of protein at every meal to get enough for the day and never that much at once. They're definitely delicious though! I switched having oatmeal when I wake up to these. Now I have the oats before bed. I'm not starving by lunchtime and I have more energy all day. I love these things!

It is definitely the protein making you less hungry. As you get used to eating more you might find yourself hungry sooner. it happened to me - I have 35g of protein with breakfast now and still need a little snack after a couple of hours.

Botz mentioned the Zone bars - I have some of those too. The one i have has 200 calories and 15 g of protein. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, I think? Yummy.
