Good morning! Come and huddle around the woodstove with a dog on your lap and plan our Saturday. It's ffffreezing out there but the full moon is glorious.
My biggest problem today is finding my car keys which seem to have disappeared. I wonder if the ghost of Lucy is still around. When the sun shows up, I'll bundle up and go check the floor of the car. If they don't show, I'm grounded as they are the only set.
In the meantime, I have two very contented dogs, my oatmeal and apple and lots of coffee. It could be worse!
How is your weekend looking?

Good morning Ruth :coffee2: Any luck with those keys? I'm pretty good with my keys but lose my coffee 2-3 times almost every morning! Apparently we are getting that intense cold the end of the week. I am so not looking forward to it.
So I went to bed thinking we couldn't go to the coast this weekend because they were getting a storm south of us and discovered the storm is now coming here too! more darned snow. Guess we aren't going anywhere! I don't mind so much because I have a lot to do around here. I need to reorganize and make room for my new exercise bike before it gets here. That means moving the TV and the cable wires so a fairly involved project. Of course there will also be applesauce, bread and Nessa bars and the crockpot.
Rikki- We have lots of outdoor squirrels here all winter invading our bird feeders. They are well able to deal with the cold. Get those squirrels out of your attic before they really make a mess. They are fun to watch but can be incredibly destructive.
Stay warm and safe wherever you are!

Good Morning Ruth I sure hope you find those keys!
No doggage on my lap, I am sure he is still snuggled under the covers on my side of the bed now that I am out of it.
Not much on tap for me today, laundry and cleaning and that is about it. I went and got groceries lastnight so this weekend would be pretty much my own. Plus it is unknown what we are going to get out of this storm this weekend, we seem to be right on the line for rain/snow/nothing.
Jenn I am so sorry to hear about your job! Try to enjoy your weekend.
Hope you all have a great weekend. I am off to see what is happening in the world.

Good morning chicks!
Ruth - uh-oh! Better make another set! I frequently lose mine as well. It seems to be happening more as I get older.....
Cyndi - I'm so excited it's going to snow here!! Time to get out the sleds and to make a fort too!! Ya wanna borrow a 4 and 5 year old to make it more fun!??
Steph - have a relaxing weekend!
Jenn - sorry about the job.
Me - Have to work a bit. The day is slow, and I don't think it'll pick up much with the snow.
Then, we're going to look at a few houses. Our renters in our house in NC extended their contract til May 2010, and I don't think i can handle this rental another 1 1/2 years. We realized with the mortgage rates (4.75%!!!) that we can buy for the price of renting. The market here is still good, we're in one of the top "recession proof" areas on Forbes. We don't know yet...it's very nerve racking.
Maybe I have to go play in the snow to soothe the nerves?!?!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Morning, Friends,
I lost my keys a couple years ago. Searched and Searched. I finally found them in my then-3-year-old's pocket. Sheesh!
All the guys in the family are going to see the Monster Jam Monster Trucks tonight. My DS is too excited. The girls are staying home and watching Mamma Mia. I'm excited, too. We're making cauliflower soup. Yum! (Just a little off plan -- towards fat, not carbs)
Yesterday's extra appetite cost me a pound today. I hate that. But, I really can't complain. Today is my last day on ph1 and I'm down 9.5. WooHoo!
My day is going to start with an 8:30 Jazzercise Class. My favorite!
I hope you all have a great, warm day.

good morning,
i was planning on sleeping in today but my puppy (boxer btw) had other ideas. doesn't look like i'm doing much today with the possible exception of going and picking up my 10 yr old from her dads. on the plus side i lost 10 lbs in the first week and was thinking my scale was lying to me...but it went down even lower today. still have 4 days left on phase 1.
ruth-hope you find your keys and it warms up out there.
cyndi-good luck on the reorganizing...i have a treadmill now but miss the exercise bike.
pacergal-good luck with the weather i think we're on the line between good and evil weather
jenn-i'm really sry to hear about the job, i went thru the same thing and you'll feel better soon just need to get out there looking and i'm sure you'll find something even better.

Good morning chicks, I'm eating my blueberry buckwheat pancakes (yum!) and trying to decide what order my to-do's should be in - cleaning first, then go shop? Or get the shopping done early, then clean? The kids stayed at my mom's so I'll need to pick them up too. DH is happily holed up in his radio shack with his new radio, so I doubt I'll see much of him today...
Happy househunting Twynn - hope you find something great. We're thinking it's time to refinance, but waiting to see if things might go a little lower, as they're predicting.
Cyndi, I guess things shifted North? I was expecting to see snow this morning but nada here.
Me too Steph, an exciting day of cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
Ruth, hope those keys turn up soon.
me4life, sounds like Ph1 is treating you well!
Sounds like a fun day Chelby. Jazzercise is the only exercise I ever really enjoyed. I used to ge 4-5 times a week when DD1 was little. I'd love to get back to it, but there aren't any classes near me.
Have a great day Barb.

Today is my turn. I got a call last night that it looks like I will be losing my job on Monday. I work part-time from home as a computer programmer. I work for a consultant and our biggest client was bought out and all funds were "frozen" for the time being. My boss called yesterday and said stop working on that project, they are done. He is going to find out Monday if this is a temp freeze or if they aren't gonig to be taking our software anymore. IF this is the case, I will be out of a job because I worked only on this account and there won't be enough work for me to do.
I am freaking out. Not only because I am losing a job I LOVE, but because I have been working at home, on my own schedule, so I can be here for my kids. So I either need to find another job that changes all our schedule, or I stay home for a while and we cut way back. DH isn't worried and said we can make it work, but I am so depressed and can't stop thinking about it. I think I am going to go out today as see if I can find a part-time job in the evenings/weekends for now.... makes me feel better that I am working a little!
Dentist apts today. Lots of snow that needs to be cleared off the drive first.
Pray for me that Monday brings good news and this worrying is for nothing. (Which I doubt.... but trying to stay positive.)

Hello to everyone else  I have been online too long this morning and need to get going.
Great news for me- finally sold the Blazer on Ebay now just waiting to see if the buyer will come through and pay. The person who bought lives about 4 hours north close to Chicago so we shall see. Not much on my plate today did grocery shopping last night to get out of the way.

Jen - I'm so sorry....I will be saying prayers. I hope it all works out!
Good morning ladies! I can't believe that it's already the weekend! I was SO NOT GOOD last night. I found out that my chiropractor/nutritionist is moving to Vegas this weekend which kind of sent me into a tailspin. I came home after the appointment and ate lots of pretzels and ww raspberry newtons. Then, we went to a restaurant for a friend's bday and I ordered PASTA  Not good!!!! Today will be better and I'll get my control back! Got a whole lot to do on the To Do list.....I'm actually going to write it all down so I don't forget. And hopefully tonight DH and I will get out to see a movie, we're trying to see Milk. I hope we make it!
Have a good Saturday, ladies. I'm going to probably sneak back in tomorrow to see how things are going.

I am so sorry to all of those facing job lose, I can't even imagine what a stress that must be. I'm a SAHM but DH is in heavy equipment sales so his company is really struggling and cutting back, luckily it doesn't look like he will lose his job anytime some but we are definitly praying and looking at other jobs/options JIC.
No snow in Florida, high of 74 today. I'd like to have a little winter.
Day 4 on Phase 1 for me today. I'm feeling good and really making a point to get my dairy in and eat some beans, it's been pretty easy since the bean portion is so small. I've been having a cup of milk with SF nesquick which I'm really liking as I've NEVER been a milk drinker, and a cup of NF plain yogurt with Nesquick or SF jelly mixed in. I need to invest in some SF syrups, maybe when I go to the city- we live in neighborhood, outside of a tiny country town. So we have to make trips to the city.
I saw that a couple of ya'll are from Alabama, I'm about 45 minutes South of Dothan.

Hi, Jenn, I'm so very sorry about the job. Losing one's paycheck really is one of the scariest things in the world, and it messes with you in bad ways. I will just share one experience (mine) in the hope it will give you a bit of encouragement.
I was fired from a job for the first and only time in my life in 2003. It wasn't my performance -- in fact, the boss said I was a stellar performer. But, as he put it, "I just don't like you." And that was that. I was out of work.
Because of that experience, I resolved to never let one person have that much control over my fate again. I already had a part-time business working from home. I got busy and built it up to a full time business while working part-time to keep some extra money coming in. Now my home-based business is all I do.
This is a fantastic time to take stock of what really matters in life and choose new, more promising directions. I know it's very, very hard to view a lay-off as an opportunity, but sometimes it really is. If you can tease out the silver lining, it might end up being the best thing that ever happened to you.
Meantime, figure out your worst-case scenario, take help where it is offered and use whatever assistance comes your way. I wish you every happiness and every success as you move forward!!

Hello! Contrary to popular belief, I am alive, and definitely not starving.....
Moo.
I've been extraordinarily successful with Mary Kay and super busy. Plus, my laptop is still down for the count, so when I can steal the computer away from Tommy, I'm usually working. Still working retail full-time until I make enough doing Mary Kay that I don't have to anymore, which hopefully will be in the next couple of months.
Mary Kay was my solution to our financial issue. I started doing it before we had the issue, and didn't know why I was so compelled to do it, but I was, so I did, and here we are. Last month I made enough to make up for the issue (plus $13,) so we were back to where we should be.
Guess I should've known that a company that has the philosophy "God First, Family Second, Career Third" would be God's answer to my prayers.
So yeah. Just on here doing a little work but thought I'd pop in, say hello, and let you all know how much I've missed you over the last month or so. Gotta finish my work so I can get in the shower. I have a skin care class this afternoon, and then have to come home and clean my house so that it's ready for my mom's skin care class that we're having here tomorrow. Everyone pray that I have a successful weekend!
I hope all of you had a blessed Christmas and New Year, and I'll try to pop in more often! Miss you girlies!!!!!

Jenksi, I hope everything on the job front looks brighter on Monday. Hardly a day goes by, anymore, when I don't hear of someone concerned about their job security.
Monica and Carley came out yesterday to spend the weekend with us, and we stayed up way past my bedtime last night chatting away. This morning we all slept in a bit, then went for a late breakfast and some shopping. We had expected more snow than the light cover we got, but the storm went north of us. I just hope my SIL doesn't get hit with it, as he's driving back from Bar Harbor today!

I made a shrimp salad for lunch, baby shrimp, chick peas, eggs, grape tomatoes, bell pepper, celery, mixed up with some mayo. I wrapped it up in some romaine leaves and had some sugar snap peas on the side.
I think I'll make chili for supper.

Thanks for all the hugs and prayers. I am hoping that Monday I wake up and find this is all a bad dream. DH has been a rock, just great, about this. He sat down with me today, we went over the finances, said I can be a SAHM if we really cut back. But at least I know we can pay our bills. I might still look for a part-time job just to earn some extra cash and get out of the house a while. Just love my programming job and finding PT work programming is next to impossible! I know I hit the jackpot when I found this job and I treasured it for the 2 years I had it. Just sad that it is leaving! The company I worked before I got pregnant let me go part time when I had the kids, but they weren't as flexible on hours, so I left for the one I am in now. My old job will take me back, but not part-time... and at this point in my life, I can't imagine working more than PT.

Hello, Everyone. I'm so sorry to hear about the economoy issues/job losses everyone is having. Good luck with everything and I hope this opens doors that may not have opened otherwise.
Tomorrow is my last day on Phase 1. It hasn't been perfect this week (pretty close), but I think I will have a 6 pound loss. I went back to work and didn't plan well, so even though I was eating approved foods 99% of the time, I went through periods where I was starving because I didn't have a plan. I wanted to eat whatever I could get my hands on. That didn't happen in week 1, but I was on vacation so it was easier to take it one day at a time. I realize I will have to plan my week's meals on Sundays to make sure I stay on track.
I hope everone is having a great weekend.
Bye!

Good morning! I'm not going to gripe about how cold it is - just smile because the woodstove started up really quickly with just a little loving care. I need a little loving care myself this morning as I have the beginning of a sore throat. Zinc lozenges and Vitamin C are on today's agenda.
I goofed off most of yesterday fretting about my lost car keys. Rob and John came over to change a lightbulb for me, walked into the barn and found the dratted things on the floor y the trunk! I got lots of teasing about needing a man but they were not about to volunteer.
Church this morning, some hand sewing, a nap because I was up too early and then I go to Claire's for dinner. That will be a great way to end a cold but sunny weekend.
What's happening around your towel?

Ruth - so glad those darned keys showed up. I keep a couple of copies ever since I had to call AAA to retrieve mine from the front seat. I could see them just sitting where I put them down but couldn't get them :o
:shocksn::snow4: Snow again! It's just getting light so I'm not sure how much but the trees outside my window are laden. It's supposed to clear about midday. I would love to go snowshoeing but can't convince DP that it's fun and hate to go by myself.
Another day of house stuff today. I have to finish taking care of the mess created by my reorganizing. I ended up working in three rooms and completing a few things I'd been talking about for months. Everything looks good, which is always a relief!
I didn't get the bread or Nessa bars done yesterday so there will be baking today. Yum
Hope things are warm and toasty in your world today!

Good morning!
I'm the first one up and am waiting for the coffee to get done. Monica and Carley stayed over again last night because of the weather, so we stayed up late again. :) Her DH called from Connecticut, where he finally had to pull over for the night as the roads were so bad. At least he was able to get a hot meal and a good night's sleep before he started back out today.
I'm not sure what we're doing today. I know Monica would like to leave early so she can make it back in time to teach her adult class at church, and Carley has Sunday school. I just heard the roads are pretty slick, so I guess she won't be heading out too soon!
Carley just came down and crawled onto my lap, so I'll be back. I can't pass up this moment to cuddle with her!

Ruth, the last time I lost my wallet, was in 98 or so. I searched high and low to no avail. I replaced my wallet, drivers ID, all my bank/credit cards etc.... the next winter I put on my coat and guess what I found!!!!!!!!!!!!Yup, the old wallet! silly me.
Gave Cody a bath yesterday, he likes to roll in everything, YUCK.
I had offered my sister to take her wee ones for the weekend so she and her hubby can celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary. I guess her answer was no as I have not heard from her and it's sunday already! :(
I now know why this position at work is available all the time. My immediate boss is very difficult at times. This past week she kept ordering me around instead of trusting me to do my job. Then Friday she kept shushing me when I tried to answer her on a few things. So at the end of the day when she told me I needed to be in one place, I tried to tell her I needed to do something else first for payroll on Monday, but she wouldn't hear me and said "Auto End of Month"... so, working on Auto she asked if I had the guys' benefits ready for monday, and thats where I should be. GGRRRRR I told her "I'm just doing what I'm told"..... Very overpowering lady! And when you try to speak up she hushes you, she's hit me upside the head a couple of times....
I love my job, I'm hoping this all changes as we get out of open enrollment for our benefits and she gains confidence that I can handle the job. She just has to learn to be more trusting!
OK, enough of that... I need to go, later all.

Hi Jen,
I'm a new member and just read about your job. I hope what comes next will be even better for you.
I view it the same way as raebear. I'm a counselor and even though I work for an agency it is becoming very clear to me that I have to take charge of building my own client base and view my practice as a business owner. It's a big transition in thinking but it's a way to put my finances more into my own control.
Good Luck!

Well that was a bracing way to start the day. Apparently it's dumb mouse season (I'll skip the details for city Chicks who find mouse stories squicky. If you are used to mice though it was pretty darned funny). I just relocated a mouse outdoors, through the snow. I bet some owl or fox or other critter is really pleased.

Lori - hits upside the head?!?!?! Hmmmm...I might be outta there. I guess in this economy and unemployment you've gotta be careful.
Those darned keys! The story reminded me of camping, only about 30minutes away, but difficult to get to (and no cell service). DH locked the keys in the van (I thought you had them! he says). This is when I realized I WOULD pay that AAA every year. Phew!
We didn't see that house yesterday b/c of the snowstorm, but it's scheduled for 11 am today...hopefully not to change again (I think the snow is done). I'm so excited at the prospect of having a home I care about. I live in a POS right now!!
Speaking of snow, we of course went sledding yesterday. My neighbors went to a large sledding hill that's lit at night in town last night...so I sent my (46 year old) DH with them....he had a blast! I knew that southern boy needed to try night sledding at least once in his life! What was crazier though...is that my neighbors had an outdoor fire afterwards, having hot dogs and marshmellows. Sorry crazy people, no outdoor fire for me at 20 degree temps. At least he had fun!
Have a great day ladies!
PS - Matt made my client a flourless chocolate cake for losing her pup last week. He brought part of it to work yesterday.....FABULOUS!!!! He's going to give me the recipe. It's only a little bit of food porn...high in fat, but no flour, and he didn't remember it being much sugar. I'll share it when I get it!

Wow I slept in this morning. As I kind of figured we didn't get anything out of the passing storm. Don't think we are going to be able to bypass the frigid temps they are predicting though.
Jenski Very sorry to hear about your job. for you.
I finally got around to tweaking an old recipe I had for granola yesterday. Usesd Agave instead of Honey and Natural PB instead of regular. The Agave throws that taste off just a smidge but overall I am very happy with it and it was quick and easy.
Another day of just this-n-that around the house. Maybe I will finally watch the Dark Knight. Have a great day ladies.

Good morning everyone,
It is cold here but looks to be sunny. Off to church this morning and then
Lori- you might want to have a talk with your boss, not cool to be hitting upside the head, period. I can see overbearing but not touching.
TwynnB- Wish we had snow here the only thing we have gotten so far is ice, much rather have snow so we can go sledding behind the house.
Cyndi- Luckily we have not had to deal with any mouse this winter so far, but we also have the cat in the house, he has been taking care of the crickets in the basement.
Ruth- glad you found the keys.
Cottage- enjoy the snuggle time.
Have a great days ladies!!

Lori- that boss sounds like a nightmare!
If we lived in a snowy place we would have the perfect backyard for sledding! But in Florida it's good for nothing, except washing away in the rain.
I slept in today after DH & his friend got back from hunting. I was proud, I made SB friendly food and fed it to 2 hungry "meat & potatoes" guys. Chili & Salad (added some bisquits for them).
I'm on Day 5 and haven't lost anything so I'm trying not to get discouraged.
I'm making the Rosemary Chicken and White Beans in the crock pot tonight with roasted veggies.
Didn't go to church today, we moved here about a year ago and the church we picked is having a lot of problems, our pastor left right after we started, I just got an email from my Sunday School teacher that today is her last Sunday. It probably for the best, she was okay at first and then it went down hill. I hate to leave because we have a great children's program.

Jenski - So sorry about your job. I'll say a prayer for you.
Ruth - I'm glad you found your keys. That makes me wonder where my extra set is. Maybe I should put it where I can find it easily in the house.
Me - Brian and I are back from Sunday school and church and we're meeting Don in an hour. He's taking us out for Mexican for my birthday. It was supposed to be a birthday dinner but he has to be in Ft Worth tonight so lunch made more sense. I'm not sure what else is on plan for today.
Brian spent all day with his dad yesterday. He didn't ask him about Winter Camp or even find out he will be camping next weekend. Sounds like he didn't ask about school either. They did make banana bread and built a kit that his aunt sent for him for Christmas. He's trying to get on Social Security disability and SSI and Medicaid and wanted me to cover him on my insurance for the two years it will probably take for that to happen. Um, No! The divorce has already taken a year and I'm not waiting another two. He wants to do the delay game rather than try to come to a settlement so I'm going to push for a court date.

Loriann, I agree with the other chicks. Smacking upside the head??? Way over the line. How can a management person think they can get away with that sort of thing? To answer your question, I visit with Nessa on facebook frequently. She seems well, just preoccupied with her puppies.
Jennski, I am sorry your sweet deal has come to an end. Maybe there is something even sweeter waiting in the wings? I am constantly waiting for someone to decide that having me working from home at such a distance is not a good idea anymore. You never know when new program managers arrive on the scene.
Wish I could stay and visit longer chicks, I am trying to conquer mount laundry today, and my friend brought her three kids over for the afternoon, since her MIL broke her hip and is having a replacement today. How could I not offer to help? It means I won't be able to get to my work until tonight though, and DD has a basketball game after dinner, so I think I'm looking at a late night. Good thing I slept in this morning. Don't know if I'll have a chance to check in tomorrow but I hope everyone's week gets off to a great start! I did lots of cooking last night so at least I feel prepared in the food department.

Good afternoon,
Happy Birthday Barb, enjoy.
Cyndi - loved seeing your pictures. You look gorgeous, what an inspiration.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend
The weather is beautiful here. We took a drive on Lakeshore Road by Lake Ontario and it was beautiful. Yesterday I went to the market but didn't find any turkey bacon, instead I bought some adzuki beans, I have read about them and they are 25% protein but very tinny so probably will throw them into soup. That's about it here . Willpower has been good.

I looked in adzuki beans. Here in the south they are called Field Peas. They are one of my favorite beans. Yum!

Well, chicks, I just have to share this:
I'm on Day 7 of Phase I. No idea if/how much weight I've lost and I really don't care... I have a lot to lose, so if it's 3 pounds, 6 pounds, I'll find out sooner or later. But what's amazing is, I don't feel like I'm on a diet!
I expect many of you have already experienced something like this, but my goodness, this is a first for me. This is the first food plan I've ever been on where I don't have to obsess about food, don't have to weigh and measure everything, don't feel hungry, am not suffering cravings. Color me gobsmacked!
I've been carb-addicted forever. No day seemed complete without bread, pasta, rice, potatoes -- the usual culprits. Sure, I made certain everything was homemade and homegrown (well, not the rice), but that didn't make it healthful. I was frankly horrified at the idea of a Day Without Carbs. I avoided any kind of food plan that limited them like a patch of poison oak.
After my husband died, I gave in to comfort eating. I didn't really gain, but I sure wasn't losing, either. In the past few months, I started paying attention to the things I reached for when I was feeling sad. Carbs. All carbs. Bad, bad carbs. I decided I had to do something to break their hold on me. And I came back here to 3 Fat Chicks to have a squiz at what options I had.
I didn't know anything about SB, really, except the food plan looked like a good way to mount an offensive against the Carb Battles. So I thought, can't hurt to try. Success beyond my wildest dreams!!! :carrot:
I leave town on Tuesday to help see my dad through a surgery and will do most of my second week in Phase I away from home. That's usually a challenge. But I'm not even worried about the food plan -- it just hasn't been difficult to stick with it. Did I mention I'm amazed?? :dizzy:
A friend loaned me her copy of the book day before yesterday... I read it in one sitting, and it all makes so much sense.
Why did I wait so long????
Thanks to everyone for being here -- I'm really excited about all this!!!

RaebeaR, :bravo: I'm so glad this plan is working out so well for you! I hope your dad's procedure goes well, and that your next week is as successful as your first. It's stories like yours that keep us all motivated!

Hi, everyone. I think I'm coming back. though I know I should have planned things much better.
I just read through the weekend posts ans my heart really goes out to you who are facing job losses.
I just packed my lunch for tomorrow, and it's a phase 1 lunch. and planned tomorrow's dinner, which is a phase 1 dinner. tonight's dinner certainly wasn't. I guess (from my ticker) that I was last here in October. that was a half-hearted attempt at best.
my parents were here visiting over the holidays. so we did lots of baking in addition to the mass quantities of chocolate and of wine.
so, I guess I'm starting phase 1 tomorrow. I'll weigh myself tomorrow when I get to work.

Welcome back, rebel. Today was nowhere near on plan. I can usually stay onplan when I eat at restaurants but I didn't try today. Tomorrow I'll be back on phase 2 and eating healthy.

I just wanted to put my foot in the door to start out the week. I've been a member here for a while, lost some weight and then got pregnant. I was gone for a while, back when I got the ok to do phase 2 while nursing and then left again when I got pregnant with #4. I am done with having babies but DH wants another so we will see how Phase 2, round 3 happens this time around.
I am at my highest non-pregnancy weight and just got the ok to go back to phase 2 while nursing (again). I won't be starting until I go to the store but I am planning my meals and reading throught the recipes. I remember from the past few times, prep is important!!
I just realized that since the last time I was here, my Dh has left the Navy to join the Army, we've moved 3 times (2 states) and had another baby LOL
