South Beach Diet - Finally Friday's Chatter bugs!View Full Version : Finally Friday's Chatter bugs! Loriann7 01-09-2009, 07:00 AM Hi girls... have to fly by this am since it's 6 and I'm just now crawling out of bed, must shower and get out the door! Hope you all have a great day! me4life 01-09-2009, 07:02 AM i'm not around long either, my daughter has a test at the hospital and i want to eat something before i go...laterz all cottagebythesea 01-09-2009, 07:09 AM Brrrrrrrr! Another freezing start to the day! We're supposed to get snow tomorrow, but if it's going to snow, then the weekend is the best time for it! :) I have to be at Cindy's extra early this morning to get the girls off to school, but there's not going to be much for me to do there. I'm sure I can find something to do to keep me busy. ;) The repairman finally made it out to figure out why the dryer keeps shutting off (it's less than 2 years old!), and he discovered a critter had gotten into the vent and made a nest in the ductwork. There was a 5 foot long blockage! It's a good thing the dryer had that "over-heat" sensor, or there could have been a fire. Richard is going to install a cage over the outside venting ASAP, and this is a reminder to all of you to check your dryer vents regularly. Monica and Carley are coming out to spend the weekend later this afternoon, since SIL is up visiting Caitlyn in ME. It should be a fun weekend! CyndiM 01-09-2009, 07:28 AM Good morning Chicks :coffee2: Lori & me  Cottage - one more place to worry about mice! We've been having a mouse circus this week (or so the cats think). Just one mouse but Luna thinks it's the best toy we ever got her. I'm going to put the traps out tonight and relocate it. Just another day here. I'll be at the office for the morning then drive my friend home, do some grocery shopping, and work at home the rest of the day. Looks like I'll be using the laptop without all my stuff until the end of next week when my tech guy is back on his feet. We are hoping it's just the power supply. The microwave says breakfast is done. Have a good day everyone! cottagebythesea 01-09-2009, 07:35 AM Cyndi, congratulations to Julie on the new job! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: That's such good news! Enjoy your breakfast. I'm going to have my breakfast with the girls. :) TwynnB 01-09-2009, 07:54 AM Good morning! Lori & Me4 - Have a great Friday! Cyndi - Congrat's on DP's new job! That's awesome! Cottage - we get mice through the dryer vent too....then they invaded the house. My cats were THRILLED. I however, was not so happy. (One jumped out of DD's drawer as I went to get clothes for her) Me - I go to work at 2, so off til then! I love lazy mornings! little chick 01-09-2009, 08:05 AM Morning chicks. Was not around yesterday we had a snow day and it was busy busy then as I was cleaning the stove and ended up getting a 220 volt shock... not good let me tell you. Eating has been OP since I have started back the scales are not reflecting any loss yet but I should know better than to get on them after only 4 days OP. Well gotta to dash need to get the wee ones off to the bus. I will try to pop back in if I get a moment of quiet time. Have a great day girls. Ruthxxx 01-09-2009, 08:06 AM Hi to all the early Beachers and TGIF! It's the end of the first "normal" week of 2009 and I feel like my interior GPS has me on track. Lazy morning here as I don't need to go anywhere. That's a good thing since it's :yikes: -16 ºF here. I loaded the woodstove last night so the back room and kitchen are cozy and warm. Not a darn thing on the calendar this morning except to make appointments for bloodwork, mammogram and Jazz's snip. I'm considering getting them all on the same day but that may be pushing it. The Church Bulletins are written and printed so I may actually get some non-quilting sewing done! I love days like this! I hope your day is cozy and warm in many ways. Kim_Star060404 01-09-2009, 09:58 AM Finally, Friday, indeed! I"m definitely ready for the weekend. Hi, Lori and me4life! I hope you both have a great day! Cottage: Thanks for reminding me about the dryer vent. I meant to do that last week and forgot. I had all the appliances pulled out to clean under them, too. Oh well. I hope you have a great day and don't have a problem finding something to keep you busy! Cyndi: Congrats to Julie on the new job! Keep us posted on how she likes it. Enjoy your day! Twynn: Enjoy your lazy morning! LC: A 220V shock?! :yikes: That's pretty scary. I hope you're fully recovered now. You're doing great staying OP and I'm sure the scale will reflect that soon. Ruth: Yeah, -16 is a little cold to be out and about! Stay warm and enjoy your lazy morning. Me: The scale is moving and I like it! Last night's workout was tough (heavy bag plus walking/sprinting), but I was glad I got through it when I saw this morning's weight. DH is thoroughly proud. I'd better watch it or he's going to get a big head! Not much going on for me today. Just work and getting a jump start on the weekend cleaning and laundry. I hope everyone has a great Friday! The weekend's almost here! :carrot: Chelby29 01-09-2009, 09:59 AM My cat is so old and fat, when we have a mouse, she just points at it and says, "Hey, People, there's a mouse." She's very handy. :) I have a challenge today. I'm having lunch with a good friend at an Italian restaurant. Surely, they have an excellent salad I can have, or fish and veggies. My montra for the day: No Bread, No Pasta! Pearlrose 01-09-2009, 10:25 AM Good morning everyone, Lori, Me4life, Chelby29, TwynnB- hope you'll have a great day Cottage- I will have to check my dryer ducts now, it has been a few months since repairman was her to fix. Cyndi- Congratulations on DP getting a new job- hopes she likes. LittleChick- sorry to hear that you got shocked it is quite the experience isn't it. Ruth- brrrr -16, do not miss those days- we do not get many of those here. I complain when it is around 20 degrees lol. Kim- You are doing fantastic, you should be so proud of yourself. Me I have been doing the supercharged workout and I am feeling a difference in my body, not the scale yet, but I did not return to a phase 1 just a clean phase 2 is it will take longer for the scale. Today not much on the agenda a weird work day. work in the morning off for 3 hours and then work in the afternoon. I have to make sure not to have overtime. But will make for a relaxing work day since it is wfh. Tonight DH is taking some of our friends to rodeo- not my cup of tea. So I am taking DD1 to get a replacement wallet which was stolen. We got back her cell phone and class ring from the police who got the thieves but no purse or wallet. We are still happy. Have a great day ladies Schmoodle 01-09-2009, 10:29 AM Good morning chicks - this promises to be another eventful day. We had a mouse in here last week too. Fortunately the most recent addition to our cat family is young, energetic, and apparently a good mouser, so the poor thing didn't stand a chance. The other two cats are more like yours Chelby. lc, I'm glad you are allright. That is a scary thing - is there a short in your stove? Are you going to have it checked? Kim, I'm glad things are working for you with your DH's plan. We should all have a hunky personal trainer in the house! Ruth, I envy your cozy day. I was trying to figure out the last time I had a day when I could take even a couple of hours to do some sewing or reading. I can't remember. This too shall pass, I know. And I know you have earned your peace and quiet. Anyway, enjoy it for the both of us and stay warm. :brr: Twynn, yikes, I would have had a heart attack! I hate to see those things even from a distance. I hate it when DH is away and I am the one that has to get rid of them. Cyndi, congrats on Julie's job! cottage, I'd better check the weather - wonder if we are supposed to get any of that snow. Hope the test goes well me4life. Isn't your DD pregnant? Have a great day Loriann! DH is on a road trip to Mass, he should be back home around dinnertime. Kids are off to school. Things are quiet. I can actually see sunshine, except the wind is blowing something fierce. I hope to squeeze in a lot of laundry today in-between all the work. This weekend will be more work, and catching up on the cleaning, shopping, menu planning. With my trip this week, all that has gotten behind and this place is a pit, and the cupboard is practically bare. Have a good one chicks! rdw1 01-09-2009, 10:30 AM :coffee:Morning Ladies! Lori & me- Cyndi- We have squirrels in our attick right now and the cats just wish they could be allowed up there!!! We just put our christmas decorations up and the tried every sneaky way to get passed us and up there! Congrats on dp's new job! Ruth- DANG that is COLD! Glad you have the wood stove fired up and are staying nice and warm! little chic- thats so scary!~ twynn-enjoy your lazy morning... I got called in late, have to go at 10 but thats still better than 8! Kim- enjoy your friday, love when I can get all the "chores" done before the weekend and have nothing to do but relax! Chelby- sending some :dust: your way! As for me, I am just finishing my spinach and egg breakfast. called into work late so don't go till 10... was planning to go to the gym this morning but guess I will have to go after work... maybe on my lunch break or something I can walk so I won't have to go after ;) Got called off work yesterday completely so I spent the afternoon painting my kitchen- it looks great! I painted it a sagey green- before it was more of a seafoam green(an accident)... then my pipe came out of place under the sink while the dishwasher was running so I did a little plumbing as well! LOL. Hope everyone has a great day!!! CyndiM 01-09-2009, 11:24 AM Rikki- Watch out, we had a squirrel chew a hole through our attic door last winter. We eventually relocated it when it tried to get through the hole again. They have sharp teeth! It's good to see you. Schmoodle & Chelby - Our younger cat was separated from her mother at a very young age so has no idea that she should do anything but play with the mouse. She actually caught it by the tail the other day and was absolutely panicked when it squeaked and moved. Apparently if their mother doesn't teach them the death grip they never learn it. We had another cat who loved to hunt but never could kill anything. Makes living in the country an adventure! Kim - :woohoo: Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and congratulations. Apparently I am celebrating by getting a new Christmas present. We spent very little this year because we didn't know what would happen this year. Today Amazon has an amazing sale on an exercise bike and it is heading to my house! I am soooo excited. I've missed my bike since it got cold. Now I have to get the front room reorganized. It's looking more and more like a gym! zeffryn 01-09-2009, 11:33 AM Morning, girls. DH put together our new glider last night - it was sure nice to use it over the night. He's in court this morning, but it should recess at noon and then we're going shopping with my mom. I bought a new pair of boots yesterday and I can't wait to wear them today. I took my dark denim pencil skirt out of "pre-pregnancy" storage and it fit well. Now, I just need to find a cute shirt to wear. time to feed the baby again... Chelby29 01-09-2009, 12:20 PM My cat, in her prime, was a MEAN mouser. She'd play with the mouse till she was tired of that game, then eat it up! It was pretty nasty -- but there were no mice in my house. My lunch date cancelled. :( But, on the good side, lunch will definitely be on plan. Jenskihere 01-09-2009, 12:23 PM TGIF! It is cold and snowy here today. It is supposed to get even colder and the forecast calls for more snow this weekend! Sure wish I had my cross stitch project, not that I have a lot of free time this weekend. Tomorrow the kids and I have a dentist appointment (finally getting my bridge started!!) Sunday I am having breakfast with friends to celebrate my birthday, make a trip to Trader Joe's and see the local theater group put on Wizard of Oz with DS. Somewhere I need to stop back at New Balance for my gym shoes. I didn't sleep well last night. DH and I had a little "tiff" (about money of course) last night. He is paranoid he is losing his job, so he wants to completely shut down all spending (No Disney on Ice!) and live like he already lost his job. Our neighbor lost his job on Monday, so this sets DH's paranoia off the charts. We agreed to try not to panic and cut back where we could, but still the stress is a lot of handle, and I don't think I told him that very nicely! :( This is going to be a long year!! Then DS woke up cold and ended up in bed with us. After getting kicked 10 times... I didn't get any good sleep. I even missed the gym this AM because I was too tired. Just in a blah mood. DH and I made up, just still feeling the effects of the stress and being tired isn't helping much. ellie6388 01-09-2009, 12:39 PM Hi Ladies! I'm a newbie here, I posted my bio earlier today. I'm Elizabeth, this is my 2nd time doing SB, I'm on Day 3 of P1. Trying to lose the pregnancy weight from my 10 month old. It's warm and sunny in NW Florida today, I do wish we got a little winter though. Can't wait to get to know ya'll! jenne1017 01-09-2009, 01:56 PM I was fired exactly 2 hours ago. Laid off. Whatever to make themselves feel better. I want junk food so badly right now. Trying to be strong though on all fronts. Have a good weekend all. CyndiM 01-09-2009, 02:54 PM Jenn  I'm so sorry to hear about the work situation. I hope it's a layoff with some severance and unemployment coming right in anyway. How is the job market down there for policy stuff with the new admin coming in? Thinking of you RNMOM 01-09-2009, 03:02 PM I'm looking forward to 5 days off! Now I can focus on ME and my menus and my exercise and hopefully when I start back to work I can be armed with better planning. Day 3 of Phase one.....kinda waiting for the sugar headaches to hit because I have been SOOOO bad for SOOO long. Hugs to all! sophie 01-09-2009, 03:12 PM Jenn - so sorry to hear that. Everything will work out just you wait and see. Just think of going to new interviews weighing less. I have Cyndi's baked beans on in the crockpot. OMG is says 2 tablespoons of molasses 24g of sugar. I will try to spoon out the juices. I wonder if brown sugar has less, will have to check. Having fun using my new scale - it goes in increments of .2(I thought it was two ounces) but DH pointed out it was a little over 3 oz. My tracker is really off but I will wait to adjust it. I didn't realize how off my old scale was. Tomorrow if the weather is nice we hope to go to a mennonite market to see if I can buy some turkey bacon. I really don't like the one sold in the supermarkets. Anyways, according to the new scale I am down about 3 1/2lbs but I guess just having chicken broth for two days helped. Have a good evening chickies. Sophie Kim_Star060404 01-09-2009, 03:42 PM Jenn - So sorry to hear that. Joni 01-09-2009, 04:44 PM hi everyone :) home from work and just relaxing for a bit before the kids get home from school. Hope everyone has a great weekend :D Jenskihere 01-09-2009, 04:52 PM :( Jenn.... I am so sorry!! Everything happens for a reason (isn't that what they say??).... there is something bigger and better waiting for you!! Thinking of you! zeffryn 01-09-2009, 05:51 PM Jenn - I'm so sorry to hear about your job loss. You're in my thoughts  Schmoodle 01-09-2009, 06:04 PM Sorry Jenn, that stinks.:hug::hug: Be tough chick, you can get through this without the junk. hmacneil6 01-09-2009, 06:22 PM Quick swing by to say hi.....busy morning that started with falling down while out walking the dogs. But the days looked up from then. Jenn - So sorry....hang in there! cottagebythesea 01-09-2009, 06:54 PM Jenn, I'm so very sorry, that just stinks. :( Heather, that fall must have been scary! I hope you are OK! L.C., I hope you didn't get a burn from that shock! What caused it? I hope you get your stove checked out. I'm making pasta fagioli for supper and stopped by the grocery to pick up some cannelloni beans, and you can't get within a mile of the store! There's snow in the forecast for tomorrow, and everybody's in a panic to get their milk and bread. :dizzy: I didn't need the beans bad enough to stand in line for an hour, so I'm going to use Great Northern beans, instead. Barb0522 01-09-2009, 07:20 PM Jenn - I am so sorry! Me - I was off work today since they give us a day off for our birthday and I picked today since I had to go down to the college and check out where I will be teaching tomorrow. I should have no problem with my presentations and I'm only teaching two one-hour classes and working the Wood Badge table when I'm not teaching. I also got estimates for the golf carts we'll need to rent for day camp this summer and got a bunch of other little stuff for camp done. I probably worked an hour but not too bad. I'm reading a Danielle Steel book and am glued to it. I need to go get Brian now. I think I'm going to grill fish for dinner. It's been 74 today but tomorrow is much cooler with a low of 28 tomorrow night. sophie 01-09-2009, 07:43 PM I just had the baked beans that Cyndi posted yesterday. They were delicious. So surprised that 2tbls of molasses left such an impression. Thanks Cyndi Sophie Chelby29 01-09-2009, 08:10 PM Jenn, I am so sorry! I had a very hungry day today. I didn't eat anything off plan, but ate lots. It will probably show on the scale in the morning. Bummer! Tomorrow is my last day on ph1. My plan, for a while anyway, is to only add fruit after tomorrow. I'm scared of bread -- even whole grain bread! rdw1 01-09-2009, 09:05 PM Jenn- So sorry to hear about that! thinkin of you! Heather- I posted in the daily eats thread to ya- wondering how you made something- can't think of what it was at the moment though! ;) check it out when ya get a chance though please:) Cyndi- We have to get the squirrels out, but me being the crazy person I am I told DH we should wait till its warmer outside LOL. I must be nuts! Elizabeth- :welcome: Chelby- don't sweat it- your body was telling you that you were hungry for a reason! Thats the beauty of p1! Hope everyone is enjoying their evening!:carrot: Just got done with a not so satisfying dinner... that is always disappointing!!! oh well... had curry stir fry... guess it just wasn't what I was wanting... but the glass of Pinot Noir is ;) baristamon 01-09-2009, 09:12 PM hello, ladies. doing pretty good this week, although we had dinner last night at an italian cafe and i shared the tiramisu with bf. i absolutely love tiramisu so i feel it was well worth it! also had a really delicious salmon salad with fat free blueberry vinagrette. I finally got the Wii Fit bf promised for christmas, and it is so awesome! i easily exercise an hour a day, somethimes more cause the games are so fun. anyway, happy friday! Pearlrose 01-09-2009, 09:55 PM Jenn- so sorry to hear that news  - I think it is on the mind of everyone rather upfront or in the back. When God closes one door it is because another is waiting to be opened for you. :) Welcome Elizabeth to the beach.... Chelby- Congratulations on reaching the end of Phase 1- and you have the right mind set move slowly into phase 2, what we call Phase 1.5 Chelby29 01-09-2009, 10:46 PM Hubby and I just finished watching the Will Smith movie 'Hancock'. It was too much fun! For dessert tonight, I mixed a little SF maple syrup with a tablespoon of peanut butter and ate it with a spoon. Yum! jenne1017 01-09-2009, 11:17 PM Thanks all. I am a mess. I did keep me OP eating to a minimum: 1 slice of pizza and 1/2 a beer. It wasn't making me feel better so I stopped and am chugging water right now. I am a hot mess. I was sooo unhappy there but I wanted to leave on my own accord. I am the breadwinner in the family so this is stinky all around. Going home to NY for my nephew's bday. Sticking to Ph1 for a day or so in case of cravings. But have no plan since I can barely think. Will catch up sometime on Sunday. :hugs: vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
