I know there is a thread on this, but I wanted to start my own anyway. Before I talk about my resolutions, I just wanted to announce as of 1 month ago (I'm late in announcing this) I became certified as a
ACE Personal Trainer. (I am the 1st one) I am currently studying to become a Lifestyle Weight Mgmt Consultant for ACE as well.
I put on some weight last year, either by poor diet choices, or the bodybuilding diet (feeding the muscles). I decided to re-evaluate things. Even though I don't depend on the scale, I still wanna see 220lbs. If I continue to workout out, and not lose muscle mass (through intense cardio cycles), if I can keep my lean body mass the same (181lbs), then when I see 220 I will be at 17% bodyfat (fitness range) - my ULTIMATE goal! To do this I need to lose 35lbs.
I also went back to food journaling. I quit about a year ago. Food journaling iwas the secret to my success. I am now back to monitoring calories, sodium, carbs, fiber, protein, fat. I played around with numbers. I have figured out how I can reduce my intakes, and still "feed" the muscles. I can have the best of both worlds! Since Jan 1st, I have lost 9lbs so far!
My resolutions by June 1st (3rd yr anniversarry of being diagnosed with Diabetes):
1. Food journaling
2. 220lbs/17% bodyfat
3. Pass my ACE LWMC course
4. November - run a full 26.2 mile marathon
I have had many changes besides the physical ones over the past few years. I finally asked a girl out on a date (a co-worker, a friend who I run with). My self-esteem has improved, my self-confidence has improved. I live a much different lifestyle now.
Jan 1st 2006 my new years resolution was to lose weight. Best decision I ever made.
