Default Couch Potato to 5k

Hi guys! I just joined yesterday and I'm already motivated by everyone here.

I was just wondering... has anyone tried the couch potato to 5k running plan? I can't post links, but it's the first thing that pops up when you search "5k"

I started today and realized how out of shape I am

Any other suggestions for a beginning runner would be appreciated

I really wanted to try that too! I tried to download it onto my iPod but it wouldn't let me for some reason. Let me know if it's great and I will work harder at getting it.

Hi Soybean,
Welcome to 3FC!

If you go to the exercise forum, you'll find a bunch of threads about running, beginning running, buying shoes, etc., and there is even a thread for people doing the Couch to 5K program.

Yes - I did it, and now run 5K regularly! It's totally doable. Just take your time, and don't feel like you need to run the 5K in 30 minutes by the end of 9 weeks. After 9 weeks I could run 3 miles, but it took longer than 30 minutes. Now I can do 30 minutes

I did it too. I could BARELY do it the first week. But now I'm thrilled to be running 3 miles 3 times a week, and now I'm adding in some intervals, and will be adding some extra distance and probably and extra day this year. Love it. Didn't love the podcast music, but it served it's purpose. Now I just run in silence, which I rather like. Although, I would like to run with music sometimes. But I worry about having headphones on since I run in the dark before dawn.
