South Beach Diet - Another reason why we should eat good fats (especially olive oil)

The "You" docs explain why olive oil could help curb hunger pangs in a recent article (http://www.realage.com/ct/eat-smart/food-and-nutrition/tip/7804):

Olive oil contains oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat. Upon reaching the small intestine, oleic acid triggers the production of oleoylethanolamide (OEA), another fatty substance. OEA then finds its way to nerve endings that carry a hunger-curbing message to the brain. And that message is loud and clear: "Hey. Stop eating! You're full!!"

They suggest dipping whole-wheat bread in olive oil (sound familiar? ;) )

What a great way to start the new year! :hat:

That's a great article Laurie. I checked out the recipes and I highly recommend the spinach pesto. I make it alot during the winter and skip the basil but increase the garlic to three clover. Its good on fish and chicken too.

Thanks, Beachgal. I am loaded with garlic - 7000 plants - and should make pesto more often in winter.
Sophie, good idea to use spinach as my basil supply is dwindling.
