Looks like the ice and white stuff is melting, but before it really out of here where I can walk I'm going to use my Treadmill for the first time in ages. Leo got me a portable DVD player ,and now I will be able to look at a movies while walking on my treadmill. I weighed-in this morning as its my official W-I day and:carrot: I lost 1.5. :carrot: to my surprise. I experimented by going int o a higher point range and if worked. I was afraid:fr: that I wasn't eating enough and just going up to 1500 calories per day I think did the trick. Will continue eating in that area & see what happens next week. sloanie 01-05-2009, 12:38 PM Hey chickies! It's been toooo long!! Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. I was not able to achieve my goal of maintaining through the holiday, but I guess I could have done worse. I gained 3 pounds, but was able to continue some exercising during my break. We are back at school today. I have cooked for the week and have my freezer stocked, and I will meet my walking buddy at 6:30 in the morning. I now have seven pounds to go to meet my goal, so here I go!!! Wish me luck! blessedwithsarah 01-05-2009, 01:11 PM Maryann, congrats on the loss!! Are you going to continue at the higher range? If its working....... Sloan, WELCOME BACK! I've missed you! Hope you had a wonderful Holiday season. 3 pd gain is not too bad, you'll have it off in no time. Got to run, BBL ontarget 01-05-2009, 07:58 PM Paula, thank you for giving us some new pages today. And 2009? The one in your post is adorable. Maryann, congratulations on losing. Getting to eat more points? I like that. Sloan, your gain was less than half the average. You did well. We went to the fitness center today. I did 45 min :swim: Life is good. pattygirl63 01-05-2009, 10:09 PM Hi Everyone, Paula Your 2009 is cute any way. Thanks for the new pages. Maryann CONGRATS on the 1.5 lb loss. I think I found them + because today is my WI day too and I was up 2.5 lbs. I am re-evaluating what I'm doing and going to pick more SF foods especially fruits and veggies. I've been thinking about how I lost down to 174 lbs about 5 years ago and that is how I ate back then. Didn't eat many carbs etc back then either. So I think I have to make my Momentum more Simply Filling foods. Sloan I am pretty new here myself by a month or so and look forward to getting to know you. Sandra, Rhonda, Coco and others  ontarget 01-06-2009, 01:34 AM Trish, that's not a big gain. You did well. Tejas 01-06-2009, 09:27 AM  Rhonda beach bum 01-06-2009, 09:54 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Thanks:thanks: Ladies for your congrats.I have no idea:idea: if it was the upping the points that caused the loss. But thinking back when I was going to the meetings my leader keeps on telling me to use only 20pts [1000c] and I either stalled or gained. Than when I moved myself to the core I was eating more and I was losing .2 or.5 slowly but I was losing. Now that I'm doing the Momentum or Flore at home and I'm adding more points I'm not as hungry as I was previously. Last week my average point range were 25-30pts[1250-1500c] This week I'm going to lower it a bit from 24-29[1200-1450c] and see if I get the same results. SLOAN-I think it was had to maintain over the holidays I gained 2lbs but as soon as I was home and OP again I lost the 1.5 of the gain.So I have .5 to be back to where I started the holiday. You can do this also. There a lot of factors that might have caused the gain other than food. Hang in there you'll see a loss again.and you be down to your goal very shortly. PAULA-Yes I will continue to see how far I can go,before a gain starts.I have to find my correct calorie intake in order to get this 1st & 2nd 10% off me. SANDRA-I have to find out how to get this poundage off.My doctor told me at my age I should start losing,he recommended me to stay around 1200c but Its not working so I decided to add more pts and see .You're luck that your swim.I never got back in the water after a wild wave knocked me over as a child and I still afraid of the ocean or a pool. TRISH-You'll lose it again.I believe that the grainy carbs are what did me in also. I filling up with veggies & fruits and I see the difference.Don't get me wrong I do eat grainy carbs but I watch the portions.1/2 c is not 3/4's or a cup its has to be measured. Have a great morning pattygirl63 01-06-2009, 12:12 PM :wave:Ladies, Sandra Thanks for the encouragement. I know 2.5 lbs isn't much and could be meds, salt I could have gotten etc. Just tired of losing the same lbs over and over. Time to keep going. I never learned to swim and never would get into a swim suit since I gained so much weight. Maryann I agree with you about the carbs. I'm doing Momentum and mostly eating the good carbs, but I've always had to watch the amount. So while I'm eating them because I believe they are important, I'm still think I'm going to have to learn to limit them and measure them. Also, I have to be careful with the salt so I am trying to learn to use spices for flavor rather than salt. Everybody have a good day. ontarget 01-06-2009, 08:06 PM Maryann, WW online recommends I eat 22 points a day. That's not much. Today I've had 26 and am satisfied. I don't like using the WPA's, but looks like that's what I'll be doing. Twenty-two seem to disappear quickly some days. Trish, I hear you on losing the same pounds again and again. I've been doing the same. I find that I tend to get comfortable at a certain weight. (Wayyyyy over goal) and when I gain 5 or more pounds, I get "uncomfortalbe" till I re-lose them. Then I fall into the trap of "comfort." I need to lower my comfort zone. We went to the club today and :swim: for 45 minutes then did the sauna for 5-10 minutes. I may do :ebike: tonight while watching bl. Rhonda, how's your day going? I got a brochure in the mail today with lots of flower goodies. I'm going to look it over in a few minutes and may order some more for the new beds. coco99 01-06-2009, 08:33 PM Hi Everyone BEACHBUM :congrat: on the loss. That is awesome. PATTYGIRL  I have to be careful with the carbs. And I really have to watch the salt. I need to drink more water. ONTARGET That is great you swam for 45 minutes. Bet it felt good. Am thinking of everyone. It is raining here. Was suppose to get some ice. But it didnt come. Thank goodness. Well I maintained this week. So will take it. Figured I would be up. Eating the kruat and pork for new years. So will have to try and get more water in this week. Well I better get off here for now. Just checking in for a few. Have a wonderful evening. Oh is anyone attending the meetings. Have you got the week 5 book yet. It is about setpoint values for food. I am having a hard time understanding that one. Said you would use those like if you went out to eat. Or at a special occasion. Like wedding or a banquet. Will have to reread my book. And see if I can make sense of it. If not. Guess I will have to try and talk to my leader on Monday. We had several join last night. So didnt get a chance after class to talk to her. coco ontarget 01-06-2009, 11:15 PM Coco, you're right--just keep chugging that water. I did enjoy :swim:. Tonight I did 20 min :ebike: while watching Biggest Loser. That felt good, too. blessedwithsarah 01-07-2009, 08:42 AM Coco, I don't have the week 5 book yet. But my understanding of the set points is that if you can't weigh or measure, you use set points on filling foods. You still should eat a "portion". I've used it at home for lean meats. It basically estimates a higher point value for your item. For example, chicken breast is 1 point per ounce. If you use set points, its 5 points for your "serving" HTH Tejas 01-07-2009, 08:43 AM Hi All: I'm just checking in quickly. The first few days back at work have been full of things I don't like. I'm having to deal with people behaving badly, and I don't like being a disciplinarian. Lots of good things also, but I've been really swamped. But, I have gone to the gym twice: Sunday afternoon and last night. I've been on the :ebike: and :tread: both times. Not for long, but at least 20 minutes each. I hope I keep this up. The :exercise: class there is getting way too crowded for me, and that is a disappointment. My eating has been mostly OK. I did have two pieces of the world's best bruschetta last night, despite my "no bread" vow. Oh well! Our weather continues to be crazy. It is snowing, sleeting and raining all at once it seems. Got to run now... Rhonda beach bum 01-07-2009, 10:14 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Its like a skating ring out there where we live. The streets & parking lot for our complex is like a sheet of ice. Leo had such a hard time getting the garbage down to the street. Watched the B/L last night & I couldn't believe how people and young adults being that huge in weight. Sad that they got that way. TRISH-Carbs especially the grainy ones were always my problems.I think the only way to control them is to portion them out at each meal. Sodium is another taking a look at. Can't understand that if lots of people have high blood pressure why don't company's stop using MSG in the products. SANDRA-So if you think that 22 pts is not enough for you, wouldn't it be better to have more points to be satisfied than to have less and start mindlessly snacking on anything in sight. That what I don't understand about WW. Portion control is wise but the point range is not enough in my opinion. COCO-Thanks for the congrats hope I'm on a roll this year to reach my goal. Your kraut could be sodium, and water will flush it out. But you maintained and that better than a gain. PAULA-I not even going to guess what the set points are all about. I will continue with the old core along with using my pts for the foods like I did in the past. "If it works don't fix it" is my motto. RHONDA-Glad that you have a gym to go to.Our curves had a fire and never re built,a furniture store is taking its place. I started to use my treadmill in the basement as my gym and than I have the bike in the computer room.Like you I going to continue exercising.Don't worry the class will get smaller, once the Exercising New Years Revolutions people start slaking off, the class will be the same again. Have a great morning, will check on you gals later. Vickie 01-07-2009, 10:20 AM I'm 308 Maryann. It apparently wasn't hard. coco99 01-07-2009, 08:29 PM Hi Everyone The wind is blowing. Guess its blowing in the colder weather. It is trying to snow. We are suppose to get 1to 2 inches of snow by morning. We had alot of rain. And the creeks were coming up. But they are going down now. Made some sf ff cooked pudding today. Boy did it taste good for a change. Had been making the sf ff instant. Guess when I go back to the store I will have to get some more of the cook kind. I didnt get to watch the Biggest Loser last night. The guys were watching something. And then son was playing his WII. Guess I will have to fix up a TV in another room so I can watch it. I had seen some previews. Thought it looked like it would be good. Well I am going to get off here for now. Hope everyone had a great day. Thinking of each of you. coco Tejas 01-07-2009, 10:48 PM Vickie! I haven't had to contend with the amount of weight that you have had to deal with, but I didn't find it so darn hard to weigh over 200 pounds in my life! I have managed to keep off 10% from my highest weight, but am finding it hard to get to where I ought to be. I hope that I'm on to something though with the one pound a week goal, and I hope you're on to something with the 15 pounds 10 times for yourself. Froufy once told me that she had been overweight for practically her entire life, and she believed that there was a difference in the ease of losing between people who experienced that and people who gained weight later. She believed that it was much, much harder to lose if you had been heavy as a child. I haven't read any comparison research...but it's tough no matter what your history or experience. I teach a session on motivation in our courses. And research really shows that if you believe that you CAN do something and if you believe that the benefits of changing are worth the costs of changing, you can change. But, a belief in your own ability to change is fundamental. I imagine that most of us struggle with that (over and over). I had a really really long day. I also had to trudge across campus twice in blowing snow and sleet. :brr: Yeech. It was so nice to get home this afternoon. Hope you're all having a good night. Rhonda where's Sammi and Tech? Vickie 01-07-2009, 11:53 PM Beautiful post, Rhonda. Thanks. You and Frouf are good women. pam920 01-08-2009, 09:51 AM Good morning. I'm doing SBD and WW Simply Filling. I can't make up my mind which one to do. I like both plans. I did WW for almost a year then hit a plateau. Went back to SBD in Sept and still at a plateau. I rejoined WW this past Monday, mostly for support for my daughter. She gained 18 lbs since we left WW in July. I have maintained. I am tracking my foods, but eating Simply Filling foods. I finally have dropped a couple pounds. I'm only 7 lbs away from reaching goal and it's been a long struggle. I only get 19 pts each day and they sure add up fast. I know I don't have to count points if I eat Simply Filling foods, but I wanted to track, to see if I'm overeating, since I've been stuck at this weight since July. I wanted to share that I made the Mexican Meatloaf, from the new Book 1. It was very good. The only thing that wasn't Simply Filling was the stuffing (1 cup), but I counted the points for it. A serving is only 3 pts. Just wanted to introduce myself and maybe join in the daily chat. beach bum 01-08-2009, 10:58 AM Good Morning Ladies:) The winds are the problem to on the Cape. I think ther howling aver 50MPH.We have to go out to the bank & got to buy some tin foil pans for our stove. VICKIE-I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you or anyone.I just mentioned what I saw on the B/L show. Hope you forgive me for speaking out of turn. COCO-I have some FF/SF cooking pudding in my cupboard ,hadn't attempt to make them yet.Is there a big difference in the taste??????I remember that day when I had to share the TV with DD & DS,but It easy for me to watch tv and we only have two people in the house and Leo watches his programs in the bedroom and I watch my shows in the living room. PAM-Welcome to the thread.I was on the south beach, but when going into Phase 2 and introducing carbs the weight stopped and sometime a gain. With WW I finding that there to many carbs for me,so I trying to watch them by eating a few each day. You mentioned that your only 7 lbs to your goal the closer you get the harder it sis to lose. Both food lists are healthy it just a matter what foods you like best. Have a morning blessedwithsarah 01-08-2009, 03:36 PM Hi everyone. Well, we had 23 join WW at work yesterday! Its great to have such a big group. The best part is we have the 17 week program. I'm really determined to get back to goal this time (I know, I know, I've said this so many times, but at least I keep trying!). The last official wi I had was on 12/10. My goal for this week is to be below that weight. That will be a big deal for me -- getting past the holidays and the holiday eating and being down. Yesterday was just registration, the first wi and week #1 is next week. Maryann, I like the sf/ff cooked pudding better than instant. I recently found it -- I think its creamier and it doesn't separate in the fridge. Pam, WELCOME to the board. I'll have to check out that recipe. I love meatloaf and mexican spices. YUM. Rhonda, congrats on the working out! It does make a difference. Well, got to get to a meeting. I may be working from home tomorrow, dd came home from school sick. DH picked her up at 11, she has a low grade fever. DH said she seems to be ok now. I'm wondering if maybe her teeth are causing problems -- she lost one bottom tooth, a second is loose and her 6 year old molars are starting to cut. I hope that's all it is rather than a flu or virus. BBL ontarget 01-08-2009, 03:58 PM Hi there, Chickies. We have gone to the club 3 days this week so far. Today Curtis went for a massage because of neck pains. I'm staying home training for archery and catching up around the place. All week I've been picking up the granddaughters after school since their sitter has the flu in her house. I've been op now 7 days in a row. I'm taking this one day at a time. This Saturday we're competing in a tournament between here and Houston. After competing we'll drive on to Houston and spend a couple of days or so with family and friends. We will be eating out the entire time. I'm going to do the best I can but am sure I'll use my WPA's. But that's what they're for, isn't it? I am one of those who's always struggled with weight issues. My nickname before they brought me home from the hospital was "Butterball." I remember a WW leader years and years (20 or more) telling me something about being overweight in infancy causes our cells to retain fat more easily thus requiring those of us who were overweight at young ages to have to work extra hard to lose. She didn't say losing was impossible but said it would require more work. I think she's right. I also think I'm right (and I'm probably not the first or even 1000th to think so) that we develop comfort zones. Right now I'm battling a comfort zone that's in the 190's. When I gain to 200 or more, I am out of my comfort zone and I have an easier time sticking to program---till I get back into the 190's. This pattern has repeated over the past 30 years. Before that my comfort level was in the 170's. I don't know why it changed to the 190's but it did. A few years ago I lost down to around 160. Then I slowly crept back to the 190's. Yes, I would get upset with myself every time I crossed to an upper decade, but I wasn't upset enough to do anything about it. It took me about 3 years to gain back to the 190's and I've been there now for over a year. I need to work on the mental part to lower my comfort level. I think the people who lose to goal are those who have decided that goal is their comfort zone. I've never made that decision and would like to know how to get some help on how to do so. Any Thoughts on this? :welcome: Pam. I applaud you for being so close to goal. Maryann, now that I'm exercising more, I think my daily points should be raised. After I wi in the morning, I'm going to adjust my profile to see if more will be added. If not, I'll start using my activity points if I get hungry. Today is my last day of the week and I still have 22 WPA's left and 7 activity points earned. If I get hungry tonight I'll use some. Thank you for the thoughts on adding more points. Rhonda, thank you for your post. I'd love any tips you have for motivation. Vickie, I miss Frouf. Have you heard from her lately? I hope she's all right. ontarget 01-08-2009, 04:01 PM Paula, I'm glad you have enough for the class to make. I hear you on the not giving up. You'll get to goal. Vickie 01-08-2009, 04:06 PM Nope, I haven't heard from her Sandra. I hope she's well. blessedwithsarah 01-08-2009, 05:55 PM Sandra, I completly agree on the comfort zones. But it is possible to change those. Mine used to be 195, but not over 200. I've now settled close to 185. My goal however is 174. So now I need to get back to goal, stay there for a while and have that be my new comfort zone. I do believe and am living that you can re-program your comfort zone. ontarget 01-08-2009, 09:21 PM Vickie, I hope she's all right, too. Paula, did you do some mental exercises to reprogram your comfort zone? Tejas 01-08-2009, 09:43 PM Hi: I'll send more information on motivation over the weekend. But, basically, if you want to change the following are the most important: 1)you have to believe that you can (self-efficacy), 2)that the costs are worth paying (costs-benefits ratio) I'm guessing that many of us could do some work on believing in our own abilities, and that we could strengthen our belief that the costs---for example, the time it takes to exercise and to prepare good food--are worth the benefits, such as better health, improved self-esteem, looking better, etc. Also, if YOU do not really believe that something is a problem, it is not. It won't matter if your doctor tells you its a problem, or your family does, YOU have to believe it. I know these sound like "truisms" but they are true and well supported in health research. So, you can definitely change your mind and your behavior..we know this, we do it all the time! But, you can help yourself with positive self talk, with really understanding and believing that extra weight is a problem, and with realizing that the benefits are worth the costs. I know all of this and still let my weight go up to 220 about six years ago, then lost 10 pounds and went to WW...got down to 170 within about six months, then went back up to the 190's and remain stuck. There was a time when I was miserable at 150, so what happened to that!? And even that is 25 pounds more than I weighed in my early 30's. Anyway, I have now clearly defined myself as someone who can lose at least one pound a week, and I'm going to do it. If those other people can, I can. :welcome2: Pam..hope you like it here and good luck with your goals. Rhonda ontarget 01-08-2009, 11:35 PM Thank you, Rhonda. I appreciate everything you shared and am looking forward to more. Curtis and I work on positive self-talk for our archery. I need to do the same for weightloss. Tomorrow is wi. I'm excited and am looking forward to it. I'm also excited about competing Saturday and visiting folks the rest of the weekend. I'm going to pack clothes that will help me feel good about myself. That should help with the eating. Isn't it a shame that after over 60 years I still worry about what I'm eating? But I guess we all are, aren't we? blessedwithsarah 01-09-2009, 09:26 AM Sandra, I don't think I did anything specific to change my mind set. I think back and a lot had to do with a focus on being healthy and eating in a way that was a good role model for my dd. Also, I got rid of all my larger clothes. I had gone from large size 16s (I would never buy an 18) to fitting nicely in a 12. As I got down and bought new clothes, all my larger things went out to charity. That was a big trick for me -- there was no going back. So when my 12s get tight I need to do something -- as now it will kill me to buy a 14. Yes, I'm very hung up on numbers. In my life I've always been a larger size girl and 12s were NEVER in my wardrobe. Well, I'm working from home today. DD is home sick from school. Still a slight fever and now coughing. BBL beach bum 01-09-2009, 10:57 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Leo bought himself a weather/radio station,as his hobby is meteorology. We according to the reports we are going to get another snow storm this weekend staying tomorrow afternoon & into Sunday.Going out to get the stables like milk & bread. Was going to get a bussed hair cut but I think I'll wait until next week some time. My DD always like the way I used to style my hair when I was younger and had at pix of me with it.So if my hairstyles agrees with my DD I will get the new style. PAULA-Thanks,:thanks: I will try the the cooking pudding and let you know if I like it not. Sound good enough, just to hear that's is creamy then the other kind. SANDRA-Yes I think you you can eat more especially with exercising.I always forget about my A/P and I do have lots of them exercising 6 days a week.I find just going up a few points or calories keep me from being hungry and I don't need to mindlessly eat while watching tv. You did great, having those extra points left at the end of the week. Congrats:carrot: on you managing that. Best wishes on your W-I. Have to go and get my staples pam920 01-09-2009, 11:05 AM Good morning ladies. Thanks for the warm welcome. I was a skinny kid and never really had a weight problem until I reached my 40's. When I got into the 160's, I joined WW. Then I gained it all back, plus 10 more. Then I tried SBD. Gained it back, plus 10 more. Am I seeing a pattern here? Yep. I rejoined WW in Oct. 07 and quit attending meetings in July 08. I rejoined, again, this past Monday. I did Core and now will follow Simply Filling technique. I hate to track, but I am doing it for a couple weeks, so I can see where the problem lies. I believe it's my snacking in the evening. I have CAD and I know I need to eat healthy and no if's, and's or but's about it. It's a lifestyle for me now, not a diet. I got rid of all my big clothes too. I hope to do personals as I get to know everyone. I'm glad this is a small board, so I can keep up. Have a great day. ontarget 01-09-2009, 04:22 PM Pam, it's not always easy to keep up here even with the board's being fairly small. Some days there's a lot of activity here. Last night I couldn't even get on, but that was for the whole 3fc site. Paula, I guess I need to wear more fitting clothes. I can wear several sizes. Maryann, what does bussed hairstyle mean? I'm out of the loop. I'm off in a few minutes to go get the girls from school. I've enjoyed picking them up each afternoon this week. We've had a lot of "girl time." We did 20 minutes :swim: today. I had a loss at wi. Life is good. Have a good evening, everybody. I'll be back tonight. I'm not sure if I'm taking the puter this weekend to Houston or not. (I prob will.) blessedwithsarah 01-09-2009, 05:21 PM Sandra, congrats on the loss! WOO HOO! Why not pack up the larger, looser clothes and get them out of your closet. Out of sight....maybe that will help you keep on the right track. I have one pair of jeans that when I'm going the wrong way they get uncomfortable. When I drop that bit of weight, they fit great. Just a suggestion. Pam, what is CAD? I do also love this board. Its been great to get to know everyone. We share more than just weight loss issues. Well, my day working from home is over. Its nice to know it works out so well. I was on the phone most of the day, with dd being older she can entertain herself more. I've got to love the fact she won't change the channel on the TV without asking. That was really the only interuption I had from her when I was on the phone. She is still spiking a fever, not so bad. I'm keeping her medicated - Robitussin for her cough and Ibuprophen for her fever. Thank goodness its the weekend.. I'm praying she is better by Monday. Well, got to start thinking about dinner. BBL beach bum 01-09-2009, 05:47 PM SANDRA-the hair style looks like a razor cut on the sides and back.I had that hair style about 18 years ago and my DD like the cut. When I called my DD and told her I was getting it done next week she than talked me into getting it done tomorrow. Congrats on your weigh-in. http://www.elle.com/Beauty/Hair/Hottest-Hollywood-Hair/(imageIndex)/4/(play)/false[Its going to be a lot shorter on the top than the models is going to be] PAULA-Sorry that your DD is still not feeling well. I remember those days & sleepless nights. Hope she on the mend real soon. Have a nice evening pam920 01-09-2009, 06:37 PM Sandra, congrats on a weight loss this week. Paula, I hope your DD feels better soon. CAD is coronary artery disease. I had a blockage and stent placed a year ago last July. It took me over a year to get my cholesterol numbers where they need to be. Eating healthy and exercising is just something I need to do to stay in good health. Maryann, that is a cute style. Wish I could try something different, but I have thick wavy hair, and it has a mind of it's own. Getting ready to make dinner. coco99 01-09-2009, 08:24 PM Hi Everyone WELCOME PAM920. It is nice to have you here. BEACHBUM How exciting a new hair cut. Guess we are getting some snow this weekend too. Or maybe freezing rain. Just depends on how the storm goes. Hope we dont get anything. And then we get colder weather next week. YUCK!!!! BLESSEDWITHSARAH hope your little one gets to feeling better. Guess there is alot of stuff going around now. ONTARGET Congrats on the loss. That is awesome. TEJAS Thanks for the info you posted. You have given me alot to think about. Looking forward to more post. VICKIE How are you doing. How's your weather there. We are suppose to be getting some snow this weekend. Thinking of you. Well I better get off here. Need to go put the towels in the dryer. I am thinking of everyone. Everyone be careful out there this weekend. coco Tejas 01-09-2009, 10:22 PM :hb: Sandra, congrats on the loss and "break a leg" at the tourney (I'm sure that archers have some other expression, but that's all I know). SO, after a loonnnggg week I was looking forward to DH picking me up at the subway and going out to dinner. I was planning the meal: fish, salad, and maybe white wine. He was there but the car wouldn't start! He was so unhappy :tantrum: I decided to be as cheerful as I could be (isn't love grand). After we called CAA, I said "let's have a picnic!" I walked to a local pub and got us cheeseburgers, fries and drinks. So, we sat in the cold car, in 19F temperature and ate our burgers (I ate only half and just a few fries). Then, he told me that the new boiler at home had quit working and that the temperature in the house was down to 62! He had tried to get it restarted but wasn't successful. Oh well, I thought, we have some back-up electric heat and an electric blanket. We won't die even though the temperatures are supposed to get even worse. The good end of the story is: we have a new car battery, we had dinner together, and he was able to start the boiler for the radiators in the house. :woohoo: Nothing to complain about....;) Rhonda Tejas 01-10-2009, 10:27 AM 15F, now there's something to complain about. Thank goodness DH fixed the boiler last night! Have a great day everyone. I'm going to the gym later even though it's too cold to even think about going outside. blessedwithsarah 01-10-2009, 10:55 AM Rhonda, we are only about 19F here. Its cold! I'm gald you were able to get the house and car fixed. Maybe you can have that nice dinner tonight. Pam, thanks for the explaination. I'm gald your getting healthy. Thats whats important. Well, DD was up quite a bit last night. Her fever spiked to 103 at about 2am. She was complaining of her ears and throat hurting. So, I didn't get much sleep and I was planning on heading to the pediatrician this morning. Well, she seems soooo much better this morning. Still a low grade fever, but she just had 2 boiled eggs, mango and toast. She's missing a birthday party today. Oh well, they'll be more. The busy social calendar of a kindergartener! Well, I suppose I should get in the shower. I'm sticking around the house again. I'm going to get dh to give me a couple hour break. I can run to target and maybe get a pedicure. BBL blessedwithsarah 01-10-2009, 10:56 AM HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA!! Hope its a great day. Vickie 01-10-2009, 12:17 PM :bday2you:Happy Birthday to You. Happy Birthday to You. Happy Birthday dear Sandra. Happy Birthday to You!!!:bday2you: I hope you have a wonderful day full of presents :gift: and a wonderful Core birthday cake :hb: that you can eat with lots of friends and family :celebrate:. I hope you whole year is worthy of a special person like you. :balloons: pattygirl63 01-10-2009, 02:10 PM Hi Ladies, Pam -:welcome: I am working toward learning to eat healthy myself. I look forward to getting to know you. This is a great place for encouragment. Sandra - :bday2you::celebrate::balloons: Hope you have a great one. Rhonda - Thanks for the motivation info. Really put me to thinking. Glad the car and the boiler is fixed. :brr: too cold for me. Have a good day and maybe you and DH can go out tonight. Coco, Maryann, Paul and others I missed - Have a great day and stay warm. I have been counting pts doing Momentum and it isn't working. I'm not losing weight. I decided today that it isn't working for me because it is too easy to eat junk or processed stuff. I've been thinking anyone who could keep weight down during 2 holidays should be able to do better now that the holidays are over. So today I switched to the Core/Simply Filling program. I started over as if I haven't ever dieted making today my WI day. I really like the idea that once I get the water, fruits/veggies, dairy and good oils (basics/Core) marked off that I can quit. I don't have to take another bite. So I am going strickly Simply Filling foods. Going to work aa eating very little if any of the WPA and no AP. This will be much healthier as well as much easier. I hate tracking points because either I get through eating for the day and there are points to use or I get hungry because I've probably eaten some junk or processed foods that triggers me and there aren't enough pts. So I think this will work better for me. Y'all have a great weekend. pam920 01-10-2009, 02:37 PM Good afternoon everyone. Trish, nice to meet you. I have always done Core and now SF, but I went into etools and switched it to Momentum, so I can track my points. I know I was eating too many snacks and this is keeping me accountable. I'm only doing it for a couple weeks and then will do SF. I very seldom stray from the Simply Filling foods. Paula, I hope your daughter is on the road to recovery. My granddaughter has been fine during the day, but at night, she is coughing, etc. coco, hope you didn't get too much snow. It's 52 here, but I think they mentioned snow this weekend. I'm originally from Michigan and always hated the snow. Rhonda, glad you got the boiler fixed. I don't know if I could stand the bitter cold. It has been a cold winter for us, but I just stay inside as much as possible. Sandra, :celebrate:, Happy Birthday. Hope you have a fun day. Me, I'm so sore. I bought the Walking Away the Pounds with the waist belt and did that yesterday. Plus I tried to do the 30 day Shred video by Jillian Michaels. That one is too hard and I only made it through 1/2 of it and gave up. Every muscle is hurting. I did manage to do 2 miles on my treadmill this morning. I'm being lazy today and playing on my computer. Hope everyone stays safe and warm. beach bum 01-10-2009, 02:39 PM Hi Ladies:) Got my hair cut,and does it feel good to get that extra weight off my head. The style is as extreme as the pic I posted earlier today.Cut short in the back and on the side with a about 2 inches on the top to run a curing iron thought it. Still on the top of my range in points and hope that my W-I this Monday will reflect a lose like it did the previous week. It amazing since I started doing this,I'm not as hungry and longing for the next meal to arrive. I'm satisfied, and that what the simple foods is doing for me. Love this plan, even if I twix it to fit my needs. PAM-Sorry about you having CAD. Happy to hear that your are healthier now. I just couldn't take care of of mop on top of my head, now its going to be so easy to keep it under control. COCO-We're going to have another duzzy of a snow storm again, but this time they really don't know if it will come to us on the Cape. We bought a weather station radio and it was quite all this morning until 30 mins ago when the snow warning came on.Talking about 3=5 Inches of the powdery stuff. or a Possibility of freezing rain.We have wait to see. RHONDA-Oh my Sorry you had a trying night, with having car problem than house furnace problems.Happy that things worked out, especially during cold weathers your were experiencing.Maybe you can make up the dinner that you planned this weekend. PAULA-Oh Goodness those are high temps. Happy to hear that she feeling a lot better.Hope you have a better night this evening as you have to keep up your strength into order to take care of her. SANDRA-:woo:HAPPY BIRTHDAY & MANY MANY MORE:woo: Have a great afternoon, will lurk by later Tejas 01-11-2009, 12:37 AM snow, snow, snow....thank goodness we're warm. We did go out, to a friend's house and the drive home was quick. But, the weather is miserable. I'm craving hot chocolate and don't have any low calorie stuff in the house. I think I'll just have hot milk with a square of chocolate in it or something. Or, maybe I'll wait and see if the craving passes. I love the haircut Maryann. Mine's too wavy in the front for the same effect, but it is very short like that. I love it since it is so easy to keep. I did :exercise: at home since I didn't want to go out again after doing grocery shopping. But, that makes three times this week that I've done something aerobic. Definitely an improvement. Rhonda beach bum 01-11-2009, 03:26 PM Hi Ladies:) Tried to get into the thread this morning and the site said that where under construction. Did any one have a problem getting in like I did. Didn't go to church this morning as the roads look bad even if we didn't get the snow like they[3-5"] predicted. We got a 1" if we were lucky, but the rain and cold weather is turning this into ice and that worse to drive in that the white stuff. PAM-I was going to go on my treadmill now for two day,but the basement where the :woops: is set up was too cold to stay in. Did my bike instead while watching a movie on on my DVD player. Looks like I'll be on the bike again today. Never tried the Leslie or Jillian workouts. When I use the Leslie ones its WATP's videos. RHONDA-My hairstylist recommended for my age, that I get my hair cut short on the side as back. The top isn't as long as the models. In other words its not the crop. She cut it short but I still have enough hair to roll up in a curling iron. Can't stand this weather anymore I haven't seen my friends is such a long time, and I miss them. All of us don't drive in this kind of weather. Have a great Sunday See you in the morning Tejas 01-11-2009, 04:19 PM Hi: I haven't tried to get on the site until now and I didn't have any trouble. I turned out that DH had a stash of hot chocolate mix, so I got my craving satisfied without too many points. About the weather...I was out today to see my former MIL in the nursing hom and came within seconds of having two accidents because other people couldn't see around snowbanks. I was looking out for them and managed to avoid collisions, but my heart was racing for certain. :fr: That said, it's a beautiful day: no wind, partly cloudy skies and it's about 15 F. I'm making a roast in the crock pot and can hardly wait for dinner! :hun: I bought the January issue of People magazine today. It has stories about those who have lost over 100 pounds. I think that People has been printing such stories in January for a few years. If you haven't read it, you might think about doing so. It's inspiring. I hope you're all having a good day. Rhonda coco99 01-11-2009, 08:51 PM Hi Everyone Well we didnt get the snow. YEAH!!!! But today we have been having some kind of snow mixture. It is really fine. I figure if it keeps it up tonight. The roads will be bad in the morning. So keeping fingers crossed that it isnt bad. Havent done much this weekend. Just trying to clean some. But not getting much done. I made some cooked SF FF pudding today. But there doesnt seem to be too many flavors in the cooked SF FF. Or at least Wal Mart there isnt. Might try Gaint Eagle. Or Kroger's. I think the cooked pudding has a creamy taste. Sure taste better than the instant. But at least in the instant there are a few more choices. SANDRA Happy Belated Birthday. Well I need to get off here. Hope everyone has a great evening. Be careful if you go out. coco beach bum 01-12-2009, 10:52 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Didn't see a thread of this week so I posted here.
