Wow-it's been a while since I've started a thread. I'm vowing to get moving so I can look smokin' for a romantic Valentine's day! I've been avoiding the scale over the holiday, but I'm going to commit to 12lbs by v-day. We have 45 days to shed this Winter coat!

I'll post my starting weight and a ticker tomorrow.

I think I need a goal to keep me motivated. I think I will say 15lbs by V-day.
I know I gained 3lbs this holiday season so that needs to come off first.

I have been thinking about joining WW since my centre closed, I really do need the accountability

Ok. My ticker is up. Boy was that hard to do! I have gained 5lbs over the holidays. I'm hoping it's just "water" and will come off fast, but I really hated having to put that number. But it is reality so here I go!

I know we are all coming off of the Holidays, but let's think forward and try to have an OP weekend.

I am in as well. I am off to Mexico with family on March 23. So, Val day is about half way. I will lose 10 lbs by that day, and I will exercise (treadmill) 5 out of 7 days per week minimum. Today, am cleaning out my treadmill room and getting all the stuff I piled onto it so that it's ready to go.

thanks for the challenge!!! I am also going to COD today to weigh in again today, I'm sure it will be busy. I'm in Calgary, and our centers are still open.

I'm in. I haven't done very well in maintenance. Gone from size 8 to size 12! Time to get back with it. Although, I'll have to figure out how to do the LAWL on a very limited budget until February. :) I think just adding back in exercise will help alot! I'll shoot for 10 pounds (or size 10) whichever comes first is fine with me.

I am in also. I am setting a modest 13 pound goal for V-Day. Right now I am at 153, but I am starting the new year off with some great walking so I hope that will help to motivate me to eat right also.
1/2/09 - 153 lbs.

Hey Amylou!

I am in! I cannot weigh myself as my battery died in my scale and am awaiting new batteries from eBay... but Iam guessing 245. I weighed 243 3 days ago on the Wii Fit, so this is a guess-timation!

I am in for 10lbs!

I'm so glad to see a good group of people up for a challenge. Just to be clear-this is just a place to come and post your short term goal and progress! No rules or anything. Join in whenever you like!

If you want to have specific w/i days or post menus etc, feel free! I'll probably be posting my mini-goals.

Hi all,
I have been on LAWL since 3/15/07. Did not continue faithfully, but made the commitment to go back faithfully only to find out my center is closed. I'm over the initial anger, and ready to get on with it. I know the program, and I know if I follow it I will lose the weight. Looking forward to joining in with all of you to my goals. Valentines goal of 12 pound loss. I will post starting weight on Monday.

Okay so I am committing to weighing myself "officially" on Mondays. I remember last year that my official weigh in day was like Wednesday or Friday so I would binge and cheat on the weekend hoping to recover before my WI day. Not this time! If I WI on Mondays, I have to be good on the weekend to see my progress! (Did that make sense to anybody? lol)

I just started doing the take off this morning...weighing in at 197.8.....come on 180's...... CANT WAIT !!!
This is my first time doing the takeoff without the juice from the COD. I'm trying it with the oranges, and i do have enough LA lites left over from my last takeoff, so hopefully it'll work out well for me. See what happens on Wednesday morning, i guess....lol.

Hi Vday Challengers!

So my "official" w/i day is Tuesdays-but I got a sneak peak today and things are looking good! I've walked 8miles since Jan 1st! My goal is to complete 12 miles by Friday. I feel SO good. I've done 6 miles with Leslie and 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday (first time back at the gym in a LONG time).

My food choices could be a lot better, so I'm really going to work on getting my portions under control today.

Monday goals: measure everything and walk at least 2 miles.

Stephanie- I can't believe how much you have lost. Keep it up girl and let this challenge motivate you to fit into those skinny jeans!

WFaith-wow!! I'm glad you have Leslie too. I've been so motivated by her DVDs. I actually just rented a couple off of blockbuster online. I'm so excited I can switch them up! Keep up the great work!

Amy, I didnt last season b/c I was pregnant.. I spent commercials looking for junk food! LMBO! But I am sitting here at work making out a routine for tomorrow's big Season Premier!! I will share it with you all once I get it done!

These are the exercises that I usually do during my Biggest Loser commercial breaks. I just repeat them until the show is over.

Start off the first commercial walking to warm up, dont wanna pull any muscles!

Squatkicks - Stand with feet shoulder width apart, squat down, kick up alternating legs. To make more intense add a punch with the arm opposite the leg that is kicking.

Lunges - Front, Side or alternate both, you can also use hand weights (or I use cans of soup) and bicep curls, to make more intense.

Knee lifts - pretty self explanatory, elbow to opposite knee(Think Y-M-C-A! lol) , dont limit your range of movement. Stand with feet spread further apart to make more intense.

You can also do some floor exercises like situps, and pushups but I try to refrain from these (especially this soon after having a c-section!)

I'm forcing myself to wait until Saturday to change my ticker, but let's just say SO FAR SO GOOD! It's nice to see the scale inching down again. I haven't gone off plan, especially in the evenings when I was doing the most damage before. Have a great day everyone. Let's stay POP! Woo Hoo!

I'm in for this challenge - of course my goal will be the same as the last 2 challenges - to be at goal! So that's 8lbs... The difference this time will be that I AM going to exercise! I got a DVR especially for that reason!

Well folks, Just wanted to let you guys know that the Takeoff with the oranges worked VERY well for me. I did it monday/tuesday, and I weighed in this morning 3.8 lbs lighter. I AM THRILLED !!! I wasnt sure how it was going to work, because this is my first time trying it with the substitute, but I have to say I am very pleased with the results. Its a great kick-start to my Valentine Challenge.

Ok, I weighed this morning and I was 200 lbs. Good news: short trip to onederland. Bad news: I weigh 200 lbs. This means I need to be 189 by Valentine's. I am not doing Takeoff because I need to start slow and my hubby gives me a lot of grief when I do TO...but he is going out of town next weekend so I might do limited TO when he is away.

Mary - why does DH give you grief over take off? I make salads for my DH also when I do takeoff - but if he's not up to it, I make him whatever he wants to eat... He told me yesterday that he "loves his new wife" :)

he gives me grief about how unhealthy he thinks it is- he thinks it is faddish and that you can only lose weight by long term changes. Blah blah blah he's even more overweight than I am! I really dislike TO myself but it is great to get a boost when you are stalled.

Yea, I used to get some looks when I did takeoff, especially over the juice. Everyone thought it was that hollywood juice that makes you "run" for 2 days. I just smiled gave a brief description and went on.

Ok guys, it's been one week since I posted this challenge, I know we all joined in at different times, but make sure to update and let us all know how you are doing.

My mini goal today is to really get all of my veggies in. I've been doing ok with everything else but have really only been getting 2 veggies in a day. So I'm going to work on that today.

I also found out my mom is going to come visit in 2 weeks! I'm excited and am trying to use that time frame as a goal to get 5 more lbs off by then!

I really hope you all are doing well!

Hello...I am on track with my weekly exercise goal having completed 8 of the 10 miles...yippee! I am trying to create a 2-week menu plan by this weekend with the hope that it will make my last 2 weeks on the LA Express Menu plan (Plan 3 with lites) will be easier.

Hi everybody,

I did okay this week. I didn't lose quite a pound but I'm still happy with any loss. I have been excercising very well since the beginning of the year. I made a promise to myself that I would put my health first this year. I know that I will never be perfect with my diet (I just like too many things that aren't great for you). However, I can always do better with my diet and there is no reason I can't walk every day. Well, enough with the soap box. Here are my numbers this week.

1/9/09 - 152.2 (-.8) yeah!

Hi everyone. Hope you're sticking with this challenge. Whew, this hasn't been easy for me. I've been fighting and clawing not to eat late at night, and PREVAILED! I'm posting my weight as of this morning 1/10. This was the first week I've stayed entirely on plan for MONTHS! We're supposed to be getting snow, so I'm headed to the gym early today. I am going to Miami in on Feb 13th, so I would like to get back down to 130 by the time I leave for vacation. I just finished take off today and I am going to use Tuesdays as my official weigh-in day! The batteries in my scale are dead, so I had to use my old scale this morning. I got on 3 different times and I got three different weights, so I will see tomorrow!

I just posted a 2lb loss for the week. I was shooting for 3, but a loss is a loss! I know I Sun/Mon I could have made much better choices, so I'm glad the loss showed.

Mini goal for today: walk 3 miles w/Leslie and get 4 full servings of veggies today.

Anyone else have a goal for today?

I started the challenge weighing in at 197.8....today my weight was 193.8, so thats a 4lbs loss for me. Off to a fine start. My original goal of 170lb looks much more acheivable now. I started at LAWL in May 2008 weighing in at 238.

Hello everyone! I'm just popping in for some inspiration. My arthritis and the cold weather is killing me. I skipped Monday's work out but made it up yesterday. Now I have to work out again today to get back on schedule. Just reading the posts here is making me feel better already (although it could be the Vicodin, ;) LOL!).

I just finished Leslie Sansone's "Walk Slim Fast & Firm! 4 Really Big Miles" so now I'm back on track with my exercise schedule. Unfortunately, I felt sick all the way through it :(. My warning is not to exercise while on pain medication (i.e. narcotics like Vicodin anyway!)

My daily goal is to stay on plan and try to get some exercise in! My schedule is crazy, so when I get home in the evenings I don't want to do anything except relax. I just can't pull myself out of bed in the morning to fit it in! I am going to try tomorrow to get in at least 30 minutes.

Green Plan -- Food for today:
Breakfast: yogurt & 3/4 c fiber 1
Snack: Luna Bar & tangerine
Lunch: Lean Pocket

If so - do you have a hard time with that one? I was supposed to switch down a plan, but just eliminated the lites and stayed on plan 2 and that has helped with the feeling hungry part...

Julie-- From a post on another thread the exchanges are the same, but I think the serving sizes are different. On the green plan protien is 6oz and a starch is only 1 piece of light bread. I think, from what I have read, plan 1 protien is 4oz and a starch is 2 pieces of light bread. My center never switched to the new plans before they closed.

I find that I have to eat every 2-3 hours and when I do my stomach is growling. Sometimes at night can be tough. I have found that saving my veggies for dinner and drinking a lot of water helps keep me full. I can't wait to get to my goal and start adding food back in!

Green Plan -- Food for today:
Breakfast: yogurt (1/2)
Snack: Luna Bar & tangerine
Lunch: celery, peanut butter & yogurt (1/2)
Snack: Luna Bar & tangerine
Dinner: chicken, salad, and skinny cow choc. fudge bar

I know that I shouldn't have two starches at one meal, but I have been craving ice cream all week long. I usually end up eating too much, so I set aside 2 starches.

Hi all. I actually gained a pound back this week. The good news is I have not missed 1 day since the start of the New Year when it comes to excercise. I have hit at least 30 minutes every single day which I am proud of. My eating on the other hand - not so good. I can never seem to get both things going at the same time. I either eat really well, or I excercise. I am going to keep going with the excercise and just try to reign the eating in a little better as I go. Here are my stats:

RRmom - I have a hard time with both also, I tend to get really hungry when I work out and feel like I 'deserve' to eat more! I'm trying to add an extra 1/2 protein or a protein bar closer to my workouts to curb this, it seems to help.

I went out to dinner on Friday with my BF and was so good. I only ate one piece of bread and asked for veggies instead of a starch with my dinner. As a result Saturday I was only up .2 lbs, which are now gone plus a little more! It is so hard to stay on plan when I go out to dinner!

Charlene-- I am so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Lady Zaidi-- Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

Julie & RRmom-- I am the same way! I have been so good about watching what I eat and the pounds have been coming off, so I have no desire to workout. I just need to set aside at least 30 minutes everyday, but I just don't feel like it!

Heather - if you don't feel like working out, don't. I know for me when i try to go all gung ho on something, I get burnt out and lose focus. I didn't have a regular exercise routing for the majority of my plan! Just recently started to get more focused now that I've got the eating thing under control...

Thanks Julie! That makes me feel better about not exercising! It is probably easier to learn to eat healthy and then add the exercise in. One thing at a time!

Well, today is the official WI day and I am down 5 lbs in a little over a week! I have been so good about eating POP! I just might be able to make it to my overall goal by the time I leave for Florida!!!!

One measly pound...just kidding...a loss is a loss! And I'm thinking that if I would have gotten all my water in the day before my weigh-in I might have gotten better results...

I'm having problems this week trying to stay on track nutrition and exercise-wise. It's been very stressful trying to make sure my father-in-law's obituary mentions everyone, making sure DH & DS7 have somber suits that fit, giving support to family members that need it, etc. On top of that, I had a physical today and my doctor wants me to stop following LAWL. He gave me a referral for "Diabetes Education and Nutrition Services" to get a more personalized program...I'm not sure what to do...:?:

I'm so excited to see everyone on a losing streak. I was 1lb down this week, but have been doing extra great with my food this week. Weekend is not going to ruin me!! I want to show a big loss on Tues.

We have thre weeks from Sat to get to this goal. I've still got some lbs to lose so I've got to turn on the heat!!

Sorry! I should have added more detail. His problem was not specifically with the LAWL program itself rather the fact that I was doing it on my own since there are no centers in my area anymore :(

Also he is concerned because I have multiple chronic illnesses (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, rheumatoid arthritis, an enlarged thyroid gland AND of course obesity...:?:) and suggested that it would be better if I was losing weight under medical supervision :(

Good Morning! I checking in really quick this morning! Hopefully I will have time later today to catch up!

My weight has been up and down this week, but for the most part it has stayed at 131. After being on plan for the past two weeks I went off plan last night when I went out to dinner with my BF. I had two glasses of wine and then we split this unbelievable bread pudding for dessert. Amazingly I was only up 1.2 pounds this morning!

I am going to spinning class this morning for 90 minutes and I am sure that I will be drinking a lot of water. By tomorrow I should have no problems getting rid of the extra that I put on.

I am off to get some work done before I go to they gym. I will check in later! Have a great Saturday!

I've been sick this past week and didn't stay on plan. The result was terrifying when I got on the scale yesterday. After eating light yesterday and hot lemon water last night, the numbers look better but still up. Hopefully I'll kick this cold soon! One thing is for sure - I will not use feeling under the weather as an excuse to go off plan again!

Okay, so I fell off the wagon this week! I got on the scale again this morning expecting to see that they five pounds I had lost went back on, but they didn't. Somehow I managed to lose almost a pound after eating pizza and and choclate covered peanuts last night. Thank goodness I went to the 90 minute spinning class yesterday and drank a ton of water.

I know that I am not supposed to get on the scale everyday because of fluctuations, but it helps keep me on track from day to day. If I go up because I was a little off the day before, it helps keep POP for the day and really watch my starches. Not to mention following the green plan can be really tough.

I am going to start TO today and to the 21 day boost. I leave in 3 weeks, so this should get me to my goal and hopefully beyond by the time I go on vacation!

So, ladies, I have revised my goal. I didn't feel too bad about revising because of the surgery at the beginning of the challenge contributing a few pounds. I was shooting for 265, but now as long as I make it to 270, I will be satisfied!

Let's make this a good week! I was just pleasantly surprised by the scale. I ate out ALL weekend. I pretty much stayed w/i pts but just didn't get in the good stuff. So I will take this loss!

Ok so I am becoming honest with myself. Everything I had lost for this challenge was gained back. UGH! I have no focus. HA! So I updated my ticker to reflect my real weight. Yuck! ha!

Oh no! Cecilia what did you do? You know what whenever I put extra pressure on myself to lose for some special event, it tends to backfire on me and I just kind of fall apart and eat. Don't fret over Mexico. Heck, I took two 8th grade girls with me last time I went, and I was probably heavier than when I started LAWL when we went, and I had a good time. If I can feel OK at 210 on the beach laying next to skinny 13 year olds who are tanning while I burned, you will do fine... OK it may take a few margaritas, but they are the best down there. You probably just ate something salty and when the salt and extra bulk of what you ate passes you still might have some lost left.

Ok kids-we're in the home stretch. About 12 days to shed these last few!

I lost 1 more lb as of Sat. Hoping tomorrow (officialy w/i) will be another loss, but I'm highly doubting it after a little binge yesterday during the game. BUt I know I can get 3lbs off by the 14th. I just know I can and I know you guys can do this too. FOCUS!!

It's amazing what being perfectly on plan can do. So let's do it!!

My body is doing its own thing. I retained tons of water from TOM last week, but I am not sure whats going on! I was 272 on Saturday, then boom 275 Monday morning. Come on body, get with it!!! I gotta work extra hard this week to see 270. I made my Vday goal last year, gotta do it again this year!! Since we have been WI on Mondays, I may let myself go to Presidents Day on this goal. Especially since I had such a rough month with the surgery and then TOM. lol I am pitiful!
