#32 reporting in in 56:53. It's a start, and I can only improve from here!

01-01-2009, 01:06 PM

I was in so much pain at the 2.5 mile mark that I lost a lot of my endurance, but I pressed on!

Next year I want to improve my time by 20 minutes!

01-01-2009, 01:09 PM
Jeannette-- I have improved my time and endurance dramatically over the course of about six months! You can do it, girl! That is a great goal to have!

JahJah-- What a tremendous improvement! Way to go!

01-01-2009, 01:18 PM
Thanks, IrishRose! I'm going to do my best to be awesome!!! (And maybe my boobs will FINALLY shrink so that I can actually RUN!!!!)

Well I am still a bit under the weather but much-MUCH better than a few days ago!

I finished my 5K about an hour ago. EVIDENTLY I forgot to mention that is was a race to my personal trainers.....they stopped and sniffed every freakin' bush, hydrant and light pole on the route :) I let them, if Angie was with me she would have hurried them along, she's not as "forgiving" as me ;) But we left her behind taking down Christmas decorations.

The weather was almost perfect! Cool and a bit breezy in the shade areas but real warm where the sun hit us.

We did our 3.25 mile route in 60:35.....not gonna qualify for Boston with that one :D

01-01-2009, 05:28 PM
I'm trying to add a little running back in and completed my 5K in 46.42. I really hope I can keep it up this time (last time my knees would have none of it!)

01-01-2009, 06:47 PM
I did it! I have no idea what my time was, I had surgery a week ago, so I had to break it up.

01-01-2009, 07:09 PM
5 hilly miles in 50 minutes. It was a gorgeous day! I could've worn shorts, actually. What a great start to 2009!

01-01-2009, 08:37 PM
#1 here. Did my 5k this morning before anyone was up and about. Actually, I ran in the house for 70 minutes and if that's not 5k it's going to have to do. :D This was the first run in about 3 weeks so I'm expecting some residual pain tomorrow around the calf area but it's about time I get off the Christmas celebrations and get back on track. I felt good after running. Happy New Year everyone and thanks EZ for keeping these 5ks going.

01-01-2009, 08:58 PM
I can't remember if I actually signed up for this or not, but I did get a 3.7 mile run in today. It wasn't my fastest run ever, but I felt pretty proud of myself for getting out there and risking the midwest cold and even some ice! I'm hoping to get in another run tomorrow.

01-01-2009, 10:05 PM
Did my 5K today. I did it inside since it is about 15 degrees outside. I am envious of all you people able to do yours outside. I was doing WATP. I even got a picture. Funny!! It took me 45 min. with the DVD.

01-01-2009, 10:30 PM

I know your families are PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

01-01-2009, 11:37 PM
Hi--- #2 Checking in and I did it on the treadmill -- not to fast (63 minutes) but that is a start and I plan to keep this up. I haven't been to good with exercise lately so at least this will get me moving again! Thanks for keeping these going.

01-02-2009, 09:46 AM
My first ever 5K results.....1:21:33

As you can see, I walked the whole thing--sometimes at a 24 minute pace, sometimes at a 30 minute pace. But I FINISHED, and that's all I care about!

01-02-2009, 11:44 AM
WTG, Jen. You did great! We all had to start somewhere and if you keep up the good work you'll see a difference in a few month's time. I always walk outside because my knees hurt but I jog indoors. You should be truly proud of your accomplishment.

01-02-2009, 01:03 PM
I missed the signup, but I ran anyway when we had some warm weather. First outside run in weeks!

01-02-2009, 01:07 PM
Ok I have an official 5K time - 51min 9sec. Hubby and i went to the track at the navy base(didnt even know they had one) so I had a marked track and a stop watch. the first 1.5 mile was my Couch to 5k training of walking 2 min jogging 90sec for 20 min. Know that I know where the track is I can take my son and go during the day. He can ride his bike around or play in the grassy area. Yippie!! so excited. Oh my first 5K back in Dec was like about 75 min. I have an official 5k run on the 17th this month. Cant wait

01-02-2009, 01:56 PM
WTG Jen! Congrats on your first 5K!!! :celebrate: :hot: :celebrate:

Ok, #8 reporting here. I chickened out of the New Years Eve outdoor run since it was very cold here in NY with the wind chill...but I did it this morning on the treadmill. 3.1 miles in.....drumroll please....

36:43! WOOT!

Happy New Year's 5K everyone!

01-02-2009, 03:51 PM
Sheesh, I finally had to tell myself, this is a cold, not pneumonia, and it's been a week since it started! So ... I ran my 5K. Wooh boy, colds still count! Took me a long time to get over the grunting while exhaling :o

Anyway, at Thanksgiving I ran 3 miles (for the first time!) in 38 minutes even.

This time, I ran 3 miles, plus walked .16 miles (to and from my starting point), in about 39 minutes +/- say 45 seconds (I only timed by my alarm clock, no seconds). So, I'll call it 39 minutes even for the whole thing.

So for comparison purposes (using math;)):
3 miles 38:00 / 5K 39:24 / pace 12:40
New Year:
3 miles 37:01 / 5K 38:23 / pace 12:20

Not to shabby for running while coughing and blowing my nose!

Boy, I have got to get a stupid stopwatch :o

Number 30 is Done , despite a waterlogged pedometer. Luckily I remembered my old route.

#41 here. I started out doing a Triathlon for this one but it ended up being a Quadathlon. I swam for 2/3 of a mile (When I did it I thought I did a mile then I did the math. I have to do 12.2 more laps to make it a mile.). I stationary biked a mile, I walked 1.1 miles then to make up that last third mile I ellipticalled it. No Jet this time. I hope the weather cooperates for next time. Jet and I miss our route.

Gary - Happy New Year to you and Angie! Thanks for organizing these 5k events for every holiday! Please keep up the good work.

01-04-2009, 02:02 AM
I finished 3.3 miles in 47 minutes, which is much slower than usual, but I'm just happy that I'm out there and running again :)

01-04-2009, 01:28 PM
Great Job Ladies!

01-04-2009, 02:55 PM

Great job PONYTAIL!

We will have another one soon!

01-05-2009, 10:17 AM
For this 5K I walked 6 miles on Jan 2. It took me about 2 hours.

01-05-2009, 05:54 PM
I forget my number... but I've been doing lots of treadmill and mall walking! Just before the new year I visited my friend in Philadelphia and we walked ALLLLL over town. It was fabulous, except for the cold wind!

#69 reporting in. I did do my 5K around New Years, I just forgot to come here and post the results.

I actually did a bunch of runs in and around Jan 1. That's me, always running. :running:

Date: Dec 28
Type of run: Trail, steady pace
Time Taken: 29 min, 11 seconds
Total Distance: 3.53 mi.
Pace: 08:16 min/mile
Speed: 7.26 mile/hr

Date: Dec 29
This was a trail run in a park I wasn't familiar with. I don't have exact stats, but I'm estimating about 3.3 miles with about 500 ft in elevation. I finished in about 45 minutes, but in my defense I had to walk all the downhill parts because of my runners' knee.

Date: Jan 1
Type of run: Treadmill, some intervals, some steady pace
Time: 45 min
Distance: 4.83 miles
Pace: 9:19 min/mile
Speed: 6.44 miles/hour

Date: Jan 4
Type of run: Trail, steady pace
Time: 1 hour, 1 min, 54 seconds
Total Distance: 6.32 miles
Pace: 09:46 min/mile
Speed: 6.13 miles/hour
