100 lb. Club - How do I start a mini goal?View Full Version : How do I start a mini goal? WifeyBoo 12-21-2008, 07:19 AM and does anyone want to join me in a ten pound loss? anastasia 12-21-2008, 07:22 AM what's the time scale? Or is it just to lose 10 lbs? i will join you! :) WifeyBoo 12-22-2008, 05:56 AM I would love for you to join me. I see you have completed mini-goals before, how do you set them up? I just don't want to gain 10lbs over Christmas/new years/snow days - maybe we should give a month or even two. Let me know what you think. Thanks for answering my thread! SnowboundChick 12-22-2008, 06:13 PM I would love to join you as well! Kalilung 12-22-2008, 06:50 PM  ooh, i'd like to! I have to lose 10 lbs by January 25th... gonna be a bridesmaid for a decades old friend. :yay: WifeyBoo 12-22-2008, 10:42 PM does anyone know how to get started? SnowboundChick 12-23-2008, 02:31 AM I assume you just decide on how you want to do it. Say I want to lose 10lbs by the end of Jan and when I want to start. that is my mini goal. I can make a little ticker and just get started. WifeyBoo 12-23-2008, 11:03 AM Thanks for joining me for this Mini goal. Since you have all lost significant poundage, I would like to know what your programs are. What do you eat, how do you exercise and how do you stay motivated? I am snowed-in right now. Its freezing cold here and there is nowhere to go and nothing to do. AAARGH! Kalilung 12-23-2008, 05:56 PM Food: 1900-1950 calories a day. Complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, lower sugar fruits, and (eventually as I build up a good recipe book) veggies and veggie snacks. Water: I live in a desert. That said, I am awful about drinking enough water, so my goal is 64-80oz, but I should really be drinking closer to 100oz. Exercise: This week, the plan is 17 minutes of elliptical or fast-paced walking, as well as 5 sit ups every morning for the rest of the week. I'm working up to being able to do the first level of the 30 Day Shred for the full time. Motivation: The first time I truly decided to lose weight was because I couldn't ride on a roller coaster. This time around, it's because I'm truly concerned about my health. It's a much less shallow reason. Ooh, cabin fever is awful - do some push-ups against the wall, and call/catch up with a good friend! SnowboundChick 12-27-2008, 12:01 AM Sorry I didn't respond right away the last few days have been very busy with the boys, i have 3 so life is busy, busy during the holidays. Things are a bit more quiet. For me I follow the Canada Food Guide, thought I have really been thinking about going to the counting calories to see if that will make a difference. For exericse right now I do a lot of walking either around town, the neighbourhood or I do the WATP(Walk away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone). I also have restarted doing pilates which I just love, the last time it really helped me lose the inches but it's harder going this time as I have more...um..bulk in the way. As I do it I'll get more stamina and energy and move on to things like The Biggest Loser workout, Billy blanks Tae-Bo and others, I love when I get to the point of needing to sweat and having the lungs and heart be so healthy that I can actually do it. I need to get back to that place again. (Background: I had started for about 6 months and lost 25lbs and then I got pregnant with my last son and totally fell off the wagon. My baby is going to be 2 in January,so it's been 3 years since I last started this journey) I'm very ready to be here again. To stay motivated, I just think of how good I will feel. For me it took a lot of time to get here and really I don't know what it is. I call it my lifestyle mojo. It's just there right now and I need to keep moving ahead to keep it, it seems at times. zoesnana 12-27-2008, 11:17 AM I'd love to join you in a mini goal. Baby steps right? I'm also in rural WA..sick of the snow & cold ! Jolly Molly 12-27-2008, 11:48 AM I'd like to join too. SnowboundChick 12-27-2008, 02:31 PM Today is not going so well so far! I'm at home alone with all 3 kiddos and they are a handful, all boys! I've eaten my stress, 4 eggos with syrups and 2 cc cookies. I'm trying to hold it together. Drinking water and working on having a good rest of the day! How is everyone else doing? Jolly Molly 12-27-2008, 02:56 PM Trying to hold it together here too. There are way too many leftover Christmas cookies laying around! I did manage to get in a short walk. SnowboundChick 12-27-2008, 05:43 PM It warmed up to -24C, so I think I might take the two older boys sledding. I need to grocery shop too I'm out of lettuce! WifeyBoo 12-28-2008, 06:15 AM I'm having a hard time too. Still pretty much snowed in and eating way too much of the wrong foods. The only good thing I've done is get lemons for my water. I find I can drink much more water with a touch of lemon or lime. I haven't gained any weight, I think I'm burning calories trying to stay warm. Anyway, I've sent all the chocolate on the road with my hubby and I'm starting fresh now. WE CAN DO THIS! SnowboundChick 12-28-2008, 12:10 PM Yesterday was a bust but I tried all day. I ended the day craving a cigarette(I quite at the end of Sept) and knew things had gone too far. I cleaned and then went to bed. Today will be much better. More water, exercise and fruits and veggies! That's my plan for today. I set my living room back up for my ellipital and treadmilll. LuvMyMr 12-28-2008, 10:38 PM That's actually how I do my goals. Ten pounds at a time. I don't think it's too much weight or too little. I used to try to do 20 at a time! I don't have to tell you that wasn't too successful. I have come to find ten at a time works well for me! Good luck with it! SnowboundChick 12-30-2008, 01:44 AM How are the mini-goals going everyone? WifeyBoo 12-30-2008, 02:34 AM I'm still afraid to weigh. Good news is that I've been drinking alot of water, got a bit of exercise today and have not overeaten today. I'm going to try and string together 3 or four more days like this before I weigh. anastasia 01-02-2009, 12:19 PM i'm following a diet called Rosemary Conely GI Jeans Diet. basically you eat low fat and low GI where ever possible. my instructor gave me a calories allowance of 1700 per day which i usually hit though i've been awful over christmas (must stat back tomorrow recording what i eat!) and i do 1 (usually 2) salsa classes a week and have just started karate. WifeyBoo 01-03-2009, 03:57 PM and I've lost one pound! How's everyone else doing? 3turkeys 01-03-2009, 11:05 PM Well I would love to join ya'll in the mini goals. I started my new life on Jan 1 and to date have lost one pound. I am following WW points for right now. I will add a ticker to show my progress as soon as the site allows me. GL to all. And it is cold and windy here in KS as well and supposed to be getting snow this weekend. Kari Dumplin 01-04-2009, 10:43 AM Pretty cold here in Kentucky today as well! I would love to join you all in this 10 pound mini goal! I want to lose 10 pounds this month. I think I can! Good Luck everyone! SnowboundChick 01-04-2009, 11:15 AM Basically, I haven't gaimed over the holidays and I'm happy about that! Jolly Molly 01-04-2009, 02:36 PM I weighed in today at 299.4, so I'll consider that my starting weight. My weight has been all over the place the past couple weeks. Too much holiday eating and no routine whatsoever. Tomorrow is back to school and work, so my routine will be back in place and hopefully my weight will stop fluctuating and just go down... 3turkeys 01-04-2009, 04:59 PM So far yesterday and today I have stayed OP. And I have actually increased my water intake :carrot: so I have to say I am happy so far with this lil trip--LOL :D 3turkeys 01-11-2009, 12:11 AM how is everyone doing with their goals?? I have a 4lb loss to date. Jolly Molly 01-11-2009, 07:06 AM I'm down to 296.6, which is a 2.8 pound loss! :carrot: As much as my weight has been fluctuating, I hope this is the first step of a general downward trend. SnowboundChick 01-11-2009, 12:47 PM I'm down 2lbs now. I don't know how I did it, I've had a terrible week but I wasn't eating a lot and I did manage to exercise. 3turkeys 01-11-2009, 08:08 PM WTG Jolly and Confessor---hope we all continue to do well in the future weeks with our WL. WifeyBoo 01-13-2009, 06:19 AM I hope it is OK for me to post this - I've found a good replacement for those expensive "full cookies". For about 5 bucks a box, Metamucil makes fiber wafers that taste good and really fill me up. They are fairly low sugar and lower carb. I've been eating two with a huge glass of water before meals and I find I eat much less. Good luck. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
