So I am back. Again, I know, I know.
I haven't been here in probably close to 6 months; life hit me hard and fast and I had to do a lot of growing up in a very short amount of time. I started a new job, very fast-paced, very stressful, and very full of yucky food choices. And they are just that: choices. I'm working in the ER as a Registrar, which involves 12 hours shifts that usually span 2 meals.
I looked in the mirror the other day and I was absolutely horrified. I know I have to do this this time, no more big talk and small game. I can barely fit into my 3X scrub pants; something just has to give!
The main difference between where I am now and where I was the last time I tried to lose weight is that now I am at a point financially where I can be in control of my own food choices. I can go to the store and buy my food and not have to be dependent on whatever someone else brings home, which is what wound up happening before.
But the past is the past, and tomorrow is a new day. Today, I'm working on make a menu or at least a rough food plan for the next week, and tomorrow I'll make a run to the store for provisions. I really want to do this right this time.

Amen, amen, amen! Definitely do it while you are young! I applaud the younger girls here (and the older ones, too) I so wish I'd gotten a grip on this whilst I was still "young". I'm 40 now and it's not as easy as it was when I was in my late teens or twenties.
I'm new here, so I don't know you from before but I am glad you are here!

Welcome back. Someone has a sig that says... you sometimes have to fight a battle more than once to win it. I think that is so true of weight loss, but it's definitely worth it. I'm another forty-something that wishes I would have taken care of this problem earlier. Rhonda's right, do it while you are young.

:listen: I hear ya. I'll chime in, too -- I was down to 199 in January 2006, but let myself fall into old habits. If I didn't struggle daily, I wouldn't be maintaining at this current weight, but easily bypassing my heaviest.
I can't give up, as much as my emotions, hormones and taste buds want me to!

Welcome back Sara!!!! I know you can do this!

Sara - Welcome Back!!
Gardenwife - Good to see you too!!
I never post an "I'm back" because I am always here. But that doesn't mean I am doing well. A while back I even took my weight down. That's my way of hiding. But I am with you guys 110%!

Gardenwife-Welcome back to you, too! So many familiar faces! .
Sandi-No need to hide from us, honey! We're all fighting the same battle, just in our own way. You say it best; it's not about perfection, it's about consistency.
