Heh .. I saw that on the news this morning. Craziness. I don't think in the 15 years that my in-laws lived there, I ever saw snow in NOLA.

wow... must have been a shock! I'm used to snow here in Canada...

Traffic is bad during snowfalls here, I can just imagine in New Orleans... safe driving, and enjoy that snow

It was great! Even better was that all the schools closed around us and DH didn't have to work. We played in the snow for about an hour before it all melted. Came inside, drank hot chocolate and made a fire.

In the entire time that I've lived in LA, I've never used a fireplace until this morning.

I lived in New Orleans for 6 years before moving up here to Virginia and I never saw it drop one snowflake there the entire time I was there!

I bet Bourbon Street was beautiful with a light dusting of snow!

I'm happy you enjoyed the snow - and your family wasn't affected too badly

We've got a storm warning here in Calgary for 6 inches of snow... we had 6 inches on Sunday... lol

We're used to that stuff though.

WINTER STORM WARNING: City of CalgaryIssued at 4:28 AM MST FRIDAY 12 DECEMBER 2008
10 TO 15 CM OF SNOW WITH BLOWING SNOW TODAY AND TONIGHT. THIS IS A WARNING THAT DANGEROUS WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE IMMINENT OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS...LISTEN FOR UPDATED STATEMENTS.

AN INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER SOUTHERN BC THIS MORNING WILL MOVE SOUTHEASTWARD THROUGH MONTANA TONIGHT. AN AREA OF SNOW ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM IS DEVELOPING IN THE NORTHERN FOOTHILLS THIS MORNING AND WILL SPREAD INTO SOUTHERN ALBERTA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. 10 TO 15 CM OF SNOW IS FORECAST ACROSS THE REGIONS BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH UP TO 20 CM OVER HIGHER ELEVATIONS. IN ADDITION, A COLD FRONT ACROSS NORTHERN ALBERTA THIS MORNING WILL DROP SOUTHWARD THROUGH ALBERTA TODAY. BEHIND THE COLD FRONT STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS OF 40 TO 60 KM/H WILL DRAW COLD ARCTIC AIR ACROSS THE PROVINCE AND DROP DAYTIME HIGHS INTO THE MINUS TWENTIES FOR THE WEEKEND. THESE STRONG WINDS COMBINED WITH FRESH SNOW WILL PRODUCE POOR VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING SNOW ESPECIALLY IN SOUTHEASTERN ALBERTA WHERE WINDS GUSTING TO 80 KM/H MAY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO AT TIMES. AS THE TEMPERATURE PLUMETS AND WINDS PERSIST ON SATURDAY, WIND CHILL VALUES OF -35 TO -40 CAN BE EXPECTED.
