If you have 50 or more pounds to lose, or are in the process of losing, this is the group for you. So jump on in and join; you'll be sure to get a warm welcome!

Carol, thanks so much for the update on Texaslady; so glad to hear that she is doing well!

Dh and I went to Dallas over the weekend for a tech. conference. We did lots of walking, but didn't do that well points-wise. (That is, I didn't; dh did a pretty good job of staying op!)

I'm going to stay OP all this week, despite upcoming deadlines. I just have to lose this last ten pounds to get to my personal goal, and it's not gonna happen if I don't work at it! (Guess I thought it would just go away on its own. Sure.)

So, how's everyone's week looking? Carol, I guess you are super busy getting ready for the move! Janet, is your dd home for the summer yet? Or is she taking summer classes this year? Linda, how is the garden going? JOYce, sure hope you and your dh will be able to stop by and stay with us in August after your dgd's wedding in Oklahoma..

Gotta run!

Hi everyone! We are few in numbers, and very quiet these days!

Did you all hear about the terrible tornado in my area? LaPlata, the county seat, which is about 15 minutes down the road from my home, was hit by what they now think is a category F5 tornado. The mayor says 75% of the businesses in the town were destroyed, and many homes. Many of the businesses were handed down father to son for several generations and now everything is just gone. It was a pretty, historic town. Hundreds of homes were destroyed. A Catholic school was levelled, as was much of a fairly large shopping center, and 2 fast food restaurants (one with the building toppling on the cars in the drive through lane). The blessing, and the amazing thing, is that there were only 3 deaths and 100 injuries that required hospital treatment. When you see the pictures you wouldn't believe that the deaths weren't in the hundreds.

Other than that, things are okay here. My little sweeties are fine, and I'm working a lot. Not much new- my points system seems to be down the tubes lately, but once I'm back living on my own hopefully that will get straightened out before I start gaining everything back.
Speaking of food, dd is cooking tonight, and dinner is about ready, so I'd better run. Talk to you all soon.
Carol

Carol, omigosh, I just heard about it on tonight's news. I had no idea that was so close to Waldorf; how awful! And you're right, it is amazing that there wasn't more loss of life. Those pictures were incredible. Who would have thought a tornado would hit so far up north?

I know you must be looking forward to getting settled into your home in Ocala; sure hope we get to see you there this summer!

Hope everyone is ok; drop in and say hi when you can! Texaslady, we're all thinking of you!

I've lost 2 long posts in the last 2 days, both were my own fault.
I had oral surgery on tuesday so have been a couch potato with my ice pack and meds. today is supposed to be the peak swelling day, and I am staying true to that, plus a bruise under my jaw all makes me look like I took a nasty upper-cut!
I'll be back later.

Luv to all, stay well and OP.

Joyce, you poor thing!!! You and Texaslady have got to find better ways of breaking a plateau! :D Seriously, take care of yourself, and get enough rest! Let other people take care of you for a while!

Good morning ladies! TGIF.
I had a call from Texaslady last night. She was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, and is staying with dd and dsil for a little while. She's feeling pretty good, but of course is still pretty sore and gets tired easily. She said she felt like Goldilocks the first night "home" trying different beds in dd's home to find one that was relatively comfortable for her! She gets her sutures out on Monday, and may be able to go back to work part time in 4 weeks if all goes well, but 6 weeks is more likely. I told her I'd let you all know how she's doing. She sounded great- cheery and like her old self!
I hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm meeting a cousin of mine for lunch in Pennsylvania tomorrow- she wanted to get together before I move. Other than that. it will be a quiet weekend. My back is giving me problems ( to the point that so far I seem to be losing the battle to get dressed and go to work this morning), so other than my PA drive, I plan to take it easy.

Gotta run and try to get dressed again. I figure once I can bend over far enough to put on my slacks, I'll have the battle won! :D
Talk to you all soon.
Carol

Carol, I'm so sorry your back is acting up again! I hope you can get some rest. What a time for this to happen to you! Have you been lifting a lot of stuff getting ready for your move? Maybe sil could do that for you, do you think? Have a great time in PA tomorrow; that's nice that your cousin wants to get a visit in with you before you leave.

JOYce, thanks for the email! I just loved that last line: Inside every old person is a young person saying -- What the heck happened? I can sure relate to that! I hope you're feeling a lot better today, and that you took Carol's advice and let others wait on you for a change! How sweet of Linda to bring that casserole over!

I also talked to Texaslady last night, and she sounded just amazing! She said that she'll check back on the boards as soon as she moves back into her own house. It's so fortunate that she had this done in time; my Dad had the same thing 12 years ago, but didn't know it, and ended up with emergency surgery and 90 DAYS in the hospital; he could easily have died. Thank God Texaslady and her wonderful doctor caught it in time!

DH and I are heading up to SA in a little while to WW; he is continuing to lose steadily, a pound or two a week. I'm so happy for him! Meanwhile, I'm still stalled out, hovering around WW goal; I hope I'm under the limit at tonight's meeting. I've been journaling faithfully every day for two months, even when I'm over points, so I can see exactly where I've messed up; in fact, I'm amazed that I've maintained, on so many points. I just have to get more serious so I can reach my personal goal!

Janet, I hope your nephew continues to improve, and that you're doing ok! Stop by when you can!

Linda, how's that garden doing?

Guess I'd better sign off and get ready to leave; hope everyone has a great weekend!

Boy, it's quiet in here! I guess Carol is moving to Florida today, Texaslady is having a checkup and maybe about to go back home, and JOYce is recovering from her oral surgery. Linda, Janet, how are y'all doing?

I thought Carol's move was on the 20th???
Whenever it is, I'm sure you are excited about it! Hope all goes well.
The movers were here yesterday to move dgd's things to Oklahoma. 2nd dgd will leave in 10 days to be with her sis.
1st dgd's fiance` is in the middle East, in Operation enduring Freedom. She will be glad to have her sis with her to help with wedding plans, they will have a ball!

My mouth is still very sore. I have an appt today with the surgeon, hopefully he can remove some of these stitches that are causing the discomfort....although they are supposed to dissolve.:?:
Que sera`
Dh and ds are getting ready for the big fishing trip.
I have the 'big tea party' at church on Sat., and wouldn't you know that the ceramic class is having the sale the same day! so have to , well, am going to, help set up the ceramic sale in the a.m. and get to the teaparty shortly after noon.

A quick story! On Sunday I had my things laid out on a table on the church patio in preparation for taking reservations for the tea after church. Included in 'things' was my hat which has a birdnest on the side of it with small pigeon size ceramic eggs in it. A man told me he saw a big bluejay come down and try to take my egg!!! which was glued securly to the nest!!! Ahh for a video of that! could a meant $10,000!

I must scoot! have to do some thigs for the tea before my appt.

Hi girls - I'm back!!! Now I am not moving too fast - but heck, at least I am moving which is considerably better than 10 days ago!

I finally talked dd into bringing me home late Sunday. She had taken so many days off work and just waited on me hand and foot - I knew I would never get off my duff if that kept up. She took off work on Monday too and took me to the surgeon's office for a follow-up. He removed all the staples - I tried to count but he kept asking me questions and I lost count. Oh well, I can count all the "holes" up and down my mid-section = when I can finally see them all again! But the 45 min trip there, walk to his office at the END of the floor, and the 45 min trip back just about whipped me out and I have been recouperating today.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and telephone calls. I really do appreciate your friendship.

I too thought Carol was not moving until more the end of this month. Of course, I could have heard it differently and my fuzzy head just didn't take it all in. Hope she is getting around a bit better now and now having so much back problems. Now that I am sitting/laying around all day, my old familier back and neck problems have re-emerged. After just one night in my own bed, I could barely move the next day. Just as soon as I am able, I am going to get one of those Select Comfort air beds like Carol and my dd & sil have. It was wonderful to sleep on when I was staying at their place. We pumped it up hard for the first night and then made it softer each night as I healed.

Jan, Thanks for the words of encouragement about having the surgery done. The doctor did tell me I was headed for big trouble and was conderably lucky to have gotten away without it blowing up. How many pounds has dh lost now? I think he is doing just wonderful and I know you will lose that last 10 pounds - eventually !

Joyce - How are your doing with your sore mouth? I feel so badly for you. My Mom has had extensive mouth surgery and it is NO FUN, that's for sure. I had a good laugh over the bluebird story with your hat - & you are right - that would have won you some big money on a video show!

Linda - Thanks for checking in on me too. How are your vegetables growing? I gave my dd six little tomato plants for EAster and she plopped them into 2 big pots, added tomato plant food, and they are growing like crazy. She had about 18 little tiny ones growing now - they are supposed to be a little larger than cherry size - and she is so excited. I hope she can harvest them before the birds do.

Gotta go, girls. I am wearing out fast. Take care & I will check in again soon.

Hi all! I just have a few minutes, but wanted to stop by. It's been a LONG day!!!! I was covering for a sick nurse, training a new nurse she was supposed to train, plus training a medical technician that I was supposed to train. I'n not sure which end is up at this point! :dizzy:
Jan, Joyce is right- I move on the 20th. It will be here well before I am ready for it, either at work or home, unfortunately!
Joyce, your hat story was great- just what I needed today!!   How did the dental visit go? I hope he was able to ease some of the discomfort! Don't overdo for the tea, now! Remember to delegate and take it easy!!!

Has anyone heard from Saara? I even emailed her a couple weeks ago and got no reply. And Janet and Linda are keeping themselves very scarce too. Come on in and say hi, ladies!

I don't think I told you all that my cousin, who is 64, had a stroke last week. His son, fortunately, was at home and found him so they were able to start treatment quickly, which should help him. He is paralyzed on one side, though, and has weakness in the other leg, as well as some expressive speech problems. The doctors are guardedly optimistic that he will make a good recovery, but said they will not really know for 4-6 weeks. So, if you would add Dan to your prayers, I'd appreciate it, my friends!

I've got to go- 4:30 AM will be here before I know it! Take care, and have a good Wednesday!

Texaslady, we were posting at the same time! It's so good to have you back! I was just wondering, as I was doing my other post, when you would be able to return home! Take good care of yourself, and don't overdo!

texaslady is back!!!
I was so glad to read your post! Do take care, and don't overdo!
Same for you,Carol! Don't get all out of whack in time for your move.
The surgeon took some of the loose sutures out today which eased the discomfort to some degree, although my mouth was pretty sore tonight, so I had yogurt for dinner. I'm supposed to be eating regular food, according to the directions, but it isn't enjoyable! I get some in, but prefer the softer things.
When the doctor came into the room this afternoon, he asked how I was feeling and I turned and looked straight in his face so he could see all the bruises, and kind of glared, jokingly at him. He said "Oh My!" and then blamed it on gravity, and working with bone. The assistant was concerned too, and told me it was a really large graft that they had to do. The doctor thought it was nice for me to have worn purple outfit to match my face. Actually, it is looking lots better!

I have lots of help with the tea, so don't worry about me! I even delegated opening up on Sat. to someone else...this involves being there 2 hours early to meet the caterer. and we cut the fashion show part, because no one had time to work on it with me....maybe next year.

Must go, dh is packing to leave early tomorrow to catch the little fiddies.

Texaslady, so glad you're back home! Sounds like you are doing really well; like JOYce said, though, be sure to get plenty of rest! (I remember that last summer, while recuperating, I actually enjoyed getting to read paperbacks and listen to music without feeling a bit guilty about staying in bed or on the couch!) The hard part is over now, so be sure to take it easy! Re: dh, he's lost 16 pounds since joining (and a few before joining). Even though it's not a fast loss, it's steady, and I feel sure he'll keep it off. My wt. is still stalled out, alas. The most I can say for myself is that I haven't had to pay to attend WW, as I haven't exceeded that 2-lb limit. Gotta get going!

JOYce, I'm so glad you're feeling a little better after having those sutures removed. And kudos to you for delegating some of the tea responsibilities! It sounds like it will be lovely, as I'm sure all the events you plan are. I just *loved* the hat story! That is hilarious! Too bad you didn't have a camera handy, you're right, you could have sold that for a fortune. Tell me, what are the fiddies your dh is going after? Finnan haddie (sp?)? Hope he catches lots of 'em!

Carol, sorry about mixing up the move date; senior moment, I guess! I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin Dan's stroke. We will keep him in our prayers. Sure hope your schedule today is less hectic than yesterday's!

I haven't heard from Saara at all; sent her a pm a few times, but no reply. I hope all is well with her, and that she's enjoying her year here; I wonder if she has to go back this summer?

Janet, hope all is well with you, and that your nephew continues to recover!

I sent everyone a PM with a proposed date ... sure hope that will work out! I got a pm back from Linda, but unfortunately she won't be able to make it.

Gotta run; classes start in a few minutes.
Regards,
Jan

Good morning.
I guess it should be a busy day, and here I sit!
I plan to get all the things for the tea party that are here, together in boxes to take to church tomorrow night where a few others will help set up the tables and decorate. What will take the longest is attaching little teabag angels to the front of menu/place cards....but others made the angels, so this part is easy!

Jan dh and sons will fish for whatever is biting best, in a cupla different, favorite places. One is good for trout, and another is great for crappies. In July they will go for the BIG ocean fish.

I hope others can make it for the get together, I want to be there.

texaslady, I hope you are feeling better each day, and getting your strength back, but don't rush it! It's o.k. to take your time.

Carol, take it easy getting moved. leave the heavy stuff to those with strong backs:strong: , so you will be in good shape for the get together!!!

gotta scoot! have a great day!

JanetMae

Wow, JOYce, teabag angels! You are so creative ...
I agree, sure hope Texaslady takes it easy, and Carol, let dsil do the lifting!
Gotta run ... we're headed to SA for Dad's doctor appt (checkup on his skin cancer) and then we're all heading to the hill country for some R&R. Will probably take Dad by his old college for a little tour, if he feels up to it.

Everyone have a great weekend!
