TERRI, the women I work with can not believe how much Pete loves to shop. Before we go into the store I have to tell him, not to get lost & I'm buying what I came for & that's it. We joke about it all the time. He bought a new cell phone with so many features. He wanted me to help him with it. Me of all people:rolleyes:
HollyGirl, you hang in there. My 2 sisters are stuck in unhappy marriages. Well, one of them is getting a legal separation after 26 yrs! My oldest is married to an alcoholic & stays with him cause she feels sorry for him. This is my second marriage. My first one was a disaster. I was only 18 when I got married. I got divorced after 8 years then 1 yr later met my hubby. Best thing that ever happened to me. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well:( Hope you have some fun tonight. You deserve it.
Well, going to get my clothes ready for work tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everybody:wave:

OMG - some bad news. A student was stabbed at my university today apparently by a teaching assistant who may have been her ex-boyfriend. She's in critical condition and he shot himself to death when the police surrounded the school. I can't even imagine what its going to be like at work tomorrow. I don't know the whole story yet, the president's assistant left a message on my phone this evening. The one thing that I'm grateful for is that is was on a weekend so there weren't many students at school. I can't believe it.
I'll let you guys know what happened tomorrow.

Hollygirl,
That is sad that you are not happy. :( I hope things work out for you. You have taken a step in the right direction. Maybe you will be happier once you start feeling better about yourself.
Try to have fun tonight you deserve it.

Dianne, that is awful news. I hope your day will have some calm moments. Senseless acts like these affect many people.
Es, Joe is the EXACT opposite of Pete when it comes to shopping....especially when it comes to clothing. Of course he's happy in Home Depot or the Bass Pro (fishing) stores.
I was also married when I was 18, and Joe was 19. We are very lucky it has worked all these years. Of course we realize now that we were babies and didn't know each other at all!
Well, it looks as though the end is finally in sight....after more than a week of prepping, we've begun to paint! My kids don't understand why it's taking so long, and have said I'd never make it on Trading Spaces. They're right, as we washed and primed before painting; on that show they just empty the room and slap the paint on. Joe usually wants to relax when he gets home from work, and has only put in weekend work on it.
I've chosen a darker taupe color for the walls and an ivory shade for the ceiling/woodwork. Still haven't found the right fabric for the window treatments/pillows, or a rug I like. Shopping is sooo time consuming! I've had to juggle that along with studying, haven't begun any gardening yet. How did I ever work full time?? We've been discussing my returning to work in the fall; one of us is ready for it, and one of us isn't ;)
Terri, did I read that Brittany is turning 16 ? Wow, where do the years go? She was just 14, wasn't she! lol Glad you had a good trip to D.C. Is the security still very tight there?
 to everyone.......have a wonderful Monday,

Jen,
I wonder who wants the return to work. ;)
Yes she was 14 two yrs. ago. It is going fast.
That is so cool about your room plans. We are doing the entire outside and I am going to do part of the inside before the in-laws come down. Getting excited. I wish I was Samantha though. Now that would be cool except we wouldn't have met cause once I started getting fat I would have just twitched the ole' nose.

Welcome Back Terri!!!!!!!!!:D:
It is so good to have you back. You always seemed to me kind of a spiritual leader of this group. Somehow you keep us focused. It is so wonderful to "hear" your virtual voice again.
Zoe,
Glad you got your modem stuff worked out. It is a necessity these days, isn't it.
Dianne,
I was wondering about your mom. I am glad to hear that she has stablized. Don't feel guilty about not going to see her every day. She knows you love her and she wants you to take care of yourself and your family too.
Es,
That is so funny that Pete likes to go shopping. Steve hates it. I want to get a dining room table and I guess I'm going to just have to go without him. I hope you guys have been able to settle things with the cable company. Not being able to see the Yankees play would be awful. We don't have cable. We just don't watch enough TV to warrant the cost. I would probably take up residency in a local sports bar, but here in CA they don't broadcast the east coast games very often anyway.
Holly,
I am sorry that things aren't going well. I agree with Terri. If you start feeling better about yourself, the other things should start to work themselves out. Hang in there girl. E-mail me if you ever just want to "talk" <dignon@llnl.gov>

Hi Buddies:wave:
Wowowow Terri, It is so amazing to see you back, welcome home!!!
Things are going really well now, much calmer as work has slowed down, my mom is continuing to progress, and I am really enjoying working out in my garden. We mostly have flowering trees and perennials, but I usually grow tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, beans and zucchini. Here in Mass, it is still too early for planting the tender stuff outside. I have grow lights inside where I have been tending my little seedlings. Since we have no pets, I suppose you might catch me talking to my plants, especially when I am disturbing them to transplant them.:o
Dianne ,
That is so horrifying about that student, I hope she will make it.
I didn't realize you had been visiting your mom every day. I am actually relieved to hear that you are going a little less often. I have to say "been there done that"with my mom, and it is not a good idea to overdo and forget to take care of yourself in these stressful times.
Janie ,
I will have to avoid talking baseball with you guys, we have some really avid Sox fans here.
Essie,
You will have to lend me your shopper, none of my guys want to step in a store of any kind unless the situation is absolutely dire!!
Holly Take a breath sweetie, that PMS can make everything look worse. Perhaps you are in the wrong situation, but first look out for what you need to do to feel better about you. Visit here often for support.
Zoe glad your modem is ship shape again!
Jen That is exciting that you are redecorating, I hope to some day. In the meantime we are coasting along with the previous owner's taste and saving what I earn for the 2 boys college tuition. Dave is finishing his sophomore year, and Greg will be going in 3 years.
Hi Pogo, Mel, Viola and anyone I missed,

Hi guys:
Just a quick update on the student. She is going to make it, thank God.
Apparently, she and this teaching assistant had a relationship for 2 years and she broke it off about 4 months ago. He wanted to get back together with her, etc..........I guess this is the old story of romance gone bad. Anyway, apparently they had an argument while in one of the labs and he stabbed her twice in the chest with an 8 inch knife. She was able to stumble up to the 1st floor lobby where the guard was and fell into the guards arms. The guard immediately called the police and evacuated the 20 or so students who were in the library. The police came immediately. They located the office where the teaching assistant had barricaded himself and when they broke down the door, he had already killed himself with a gun. So sad, she is only 23 and he was only 27. What a waste.
Anyway, I'm still grateful that it wasn't during the week, when there would have been so many other students, staff and faculty. Obviously, he came into the school with a knife and a gun, so he already had intentions of harming her. Today, we have been dealing with many calls from the press, concerned parents, students and other staff members. I'm just happy to report that the student will live and she graduates this June, so hopefully she will be able to graduate with her class.
Gotta run, talk to you all tomorrow. Thanks for listening and your concern, I appreciate it.
Hugs,
Dianne

Dianne, Thank God the student is going to be alright. I was checking Newsday & the news this morning to see if they had anything to say about it. Very sad.
Sandy, Pete is too funny with the shopping. He looks forward to the Sunday paper so he can check out all the circulars!!! David likes shopping too.
Janie, the problem with cablevision hasn't been resolved. I just remembered about "my Jeter's picture" I'll ask him, I promise.
I went out to lunch with a couple of the girls from work to an italian restaurant & I made good choices. One of the girls just joined WW & she had her book out with her slider, it was hysterical. The rest of the group made fun of us the whole time. We didn't care. I had soup & salad with a diet coke & she had the same thing. I was starving by the time I got home. I'm done with all my points for the day!! <sigh> I gotta stay strong. I made sure to exercise for 1 hour so I could have extra points.
Terri, Britanny is growing up right before our eyes! When is her birthday?
Jen, so nice that you & Joe have been together so many years:love: I love redecorating! After you're all done it's going to look soooo nice.
HollyGirl, how are you feeling?

Hello ladies
Ok, I just have to put my "2 cents" in here about the shopping hubbies.....Greg LOVES to shop!! I mean, we can go to the mall and he is looking for all the bargains for me and I mean in CLOTHES! He says that I'm a buyer and he's a shopper. I love it!!!!
Hollygirl ~ Be strong and hang in there. I know it must be awful to be stuck in a situation where you feel helpless but if you just concentrate on getting yourself healthier, I know that you'll feel better about yourself.
Dianne ~ My goodness sweetie, I'm so glad that you weren't around all that......Thank the Lord that she'll be okay and you be careful!!!
Jen ~ Don't you just love redecorating? We are in the process of doing some ourselves.....new carpeting is coming on the 24th of May so I've taken this time to paint the living room and wall paper and border the kitchen. We even replaced the windows in the living room to those great ones that snap open for cleaning!! Yippee!! The carpet is taupe ~ can't wait!! I'll bet yours is looking great!
Hi to everyone else. Gotta run....I don't want to miss the Gilda Radner movie tonight. Have a wonderful evening.

Hi, girls!
Okay, things aren't looking so bleak today, but I am going to officially start tomorrow. I shouldn't have started on the same day as my PMS was at its peak. Needless to say, I didn't care what I ate!
Do you all REALLY think that once I start losing weight I'll feel better about everything? It's one of those vicious circle things to me -- I'll feel better when I lose weight, but since I'm not losing weight right now all I want to do is turn to food for comfort. :o
The group I work with had a retreat today and one of the women gave a testimony of how she had a very rare form of cancer several years ago. It kind of made me put my perceived problems (weight, home life, etc.) into perspective.
I'm going to try to post daily, or several times a day, so I can get the support I so desperately need -- especially until I start seeing some progress. Weigh-in is on Tuesdays now :D
For each 5 lbs. I lose, I'm going to treat myself -- mini-goals I guess! I love to shop, so I'll probably treat myself to a new Coldwater Creek outfit or a great accessory or something. When I reach my goal weight (140-143 or so) I'm going to buy a pair of Brighton sunglasses! Wish me luck :spin: :spin: :spin:

Good morning everyone,
Just a quick check-in. Es, your last line above said "don't forget to drink the water"! Wow, I was just analyzing what I've been doing for the last 2 busy weeks. I realize I've really forgotten to fit the water in to my schedule. While in SC, it was hot and I carried a water bottle everywhere with me. But back in Massachusetts, it's cold, windy and rainy! However, the sun is peeking out today. I drink way more water when it's warm out.
My son has picked the University of SC - so now we can focus on that. I drive to PA to pick up my daughter on Friday, so, I'll be missing the weigh-in again. I'll get there on 5/10. (I'm a lifetime member, so I don't have to get there every week - I just aim for that.)
My walking has slowed down a little bit at home, but we have been gardening! Sounds like everyone is doing home-improvement projects. We moved to a smaller house that's very dated! (It's described as "hideous" by my daughter.) However, my husband and I can see the potential. We've talked to a few architects and will probably choose one in May. We'd like to start renovations in the fall. That's the plan, anyway.
It's nice to scroll thru the messages and catch up with everyone! Welcome Terri! And hello to Sandy (my son sat in the rain in the bleachers at Fenway last nite! Too bad they didn't win.), Holly Girl, Zoe, Dianne, Myra, Janie, Jen and all the other Fab 40s!

Hi Pogo. It is nice to meet you. How old is your daughter? I'll bet the U. of SC is beautiful. My oldest is going to college in two years and I am already sad. I am pathetic.
Es,
Brittany will be 16 on Sunday. :( I want her 9 and the boys 4 and 2. I loved it at that time. I am not longing for an empty nest. I think it stems from not having family anywhere around.
Pete sounds like my FIL. My MIL hides the Sunday Paper until she has ahd at least 4 cups of coffee cause he goes on and on. The kids and Bruce and I can't wait for the Sunday Paper to get on that table. He is so funny.
I am so glad you kept going on at that restaurant. I'll bet they had guilt that is why they made fun.
"Weigh" to go HollyGirl. Things will start looking up. the 5 pound goals are an excellent idea! Good luck. I know you can do it!
Dianne,
I am soooooo glad about that poor girl. What a terrible situation.
Zoe,
I taped the Gilda movie and am watching it over the weekend. Was it any good? I watched Behind Enemy Lines last night cause it was due back today. Enjoy those new carpets.
Sandy,
I am so glad to be back. I am so glad about your mom. This is one thing (among Many others) about growing older. The parents' health. I know what you mean about plants. I say "sorry baby, I didn't mean to clip that petal off. Hope it didn't hurt." I have to put mine up high cause my 1 year old pup will eat them.
JanieD.,
I missed you too. I get so much inspiration from you guys too.
How are you doing?

Morning ladies,
I've been so busy with school that I'm definitely behind on posting. I finished reading the last tread, taking notes while I read, but I never got a chance to post. I couldn't believe it this morning when the new thread already had 14 post to it.
FIRST OF ALL*****WELCOME BACK, TERRI!!! Let's see if I can catch you up on my life these last few months. The operation I had was to remove my gall bladder. I wasn't having bad attacks with it, but I had been having lots of nausea. My doctor decided to do an ultra sound and sure enough I had a couple of large stones. The surgeon said they were the size of quarters. I guess they didn't cause more discomfort because they were too large to exit the gall bladder and cause restrictions anywhere else. The surgery was March 22, so it's been about 5 weeks ago. I've healed just fine and I'm back to walking.
Actually, I've been off the diet wagon since Feb. I'm just now getting back on track. Mostly concentrating on drinking more water and walking almost everynite. Unfortunately, I feel better, but I'm not seeing any results on the scale. Maybe I'm adding muscle. I know I need to get back to counting points, then I would probably see more progress. Oh well, one step at a time.
The only other major story in my life is that I'm still in school and my husband is now unemployed. He had such a hard time adjusting to working the night shift at Fed EX. He was either sleeping or working, and if he was awake inbetween he was like a zombie. That was 7 weeks ago, now he is trying to figure out what he wants to do. He is so tired of mechanicing. So we will see. I guess I could always take out an ad in the classifieds, "Husband for Rent"
DIANNE, wow, those are the types of things that always happen to other people. I know that things like that happen, but it seems hard to fathom that they can happen in our own surroundings. Thank goodness that the girl will be okay. I will continue praying for her, because this will undoubtably effect her for a long time.
How is your mom doing?
ZOE, I know how you felt while your computer was down. I was without mine for a week. I had to send the cpu in for warranty work. I was surprised to only have been without it for a week.
Have fun in Virginia!!!
MEL, congratulations on the weight loss. You are doing so good!!
Are you exercising also? You may have said earlier but my poor brain is on overload at the moment. Finals are next week!! Oh, did I say 4 miles in 45 minutes, it was 4 miles in 65 minutes.
HOLLYGIRL, good luck with your "new way of LIFE". You'll find that WW is a great program and very easy to do. I hope you are feeling better. I also had a bad first marriage. It was an abusive marriage. We were married for nine years when we divorced. I've now been married to my "knight in shining armor" for almost 18 years. My advice is do what is best for you and take time for yourself. I agree with the others that taking care of yourself will make you feel better.
ESSIE, Happy TUESDAY!! Hope you are having a good day!! My husband doesn't love to shop, but I don't have a problem getting him into stores. Of course, he is the one that is always looking for the cheapest of everythink. That's okay sometimes, but I prefer to buy brands that I know and sometimes don't care for the cheaper products. Rather buy items I want "on sale".
POGO, you aren't the only one not drinking as much water as they should be. I've had that problem lately. But I'm trying to do better. Keep up the walking, our weather was slow to warm up this year, so I've just now started walking again.
Well, I have to be in school in an hour, so its time to jump in the shower. Hope everyone has a good day.
Ruth

Dianne,
I am so glad that the girl will be alright. I am currently reading a novel "Falsely Accused", of which much of the plot revolves around abusive men. My husband is such a sweety and is so gentle with me. I can't imagine how these beasts can harm the objects of their supposed affection.
I guess that is just it. They think of them as objects not humans with feelings. There I go again, Jen, being analytical. BTW, What school do you work at, Dianne? Adelphi, Stony Brook, Farmingdale, Dowling, or do you commute into the city?
Es,
Hope your Tuesday isn;t too stressful.
Everyone,
My MRI is today. Wish me luck. I really don't want to have surgery if I can help it. We got our car back. It looks as good as new. The only thing is the other driver's insurance is playing games and only taking 75% of fault. Now we have to go to arbitration to settle for the rest. :p:

Terri, see how many 40's Fabs we have? Quite a group. I absolutely love it here. It's complete now that you're back.:D I couldn't believe one of the girls that went out to lunch yesterday was still talking about it today how I was counting points at the restaurant. Sandy, great loss!
Janie, I hope you don't have to get surgery. I'm glad you got your car back.:)
Ruth, Pete works 10p.m. till 6:a.m. He still hasn't adjusted to sleeping during day. He likes the night shift cause there's no bosses & it's a small crew.

Hi, girls! I had a great day today, planned out this a.m. what I was going to eat, took food to work with me so I wasn't tempted by the vending machine -- and I feel like it was all good! I do need to work in more water though (why do we ALL struggle with that?!).
Personally, it's been okay so far. I guess I can work on one thing at a time. Get my weight under control and then deal with other issues.
Just curious, how many of you are at goal weight and how long have you been there?
Bye for now, might post again later!!

It is so cool to come here and see everyone's posts! What a great group this is. :D
Janie, how did the MRI go? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that surgery won't be necessary. You remembered that I had said you were the analytical one here? Hope you didn't mind!
Ruth, actually a "Husband for Rent" ad could be very lucrative, you never know. Joe used to have a whole network of widows (old college chums of my Mom's) whom he did work for....everything from painting to repairing windows, etc. So many of them were lost without a man around the house. He only did it part-time, but it really helped out when we paid tuition for the kid's Catholic schools. And......good luck on your finals! Your semester is a bit ahead of mine. My final is three weeks from today.
Holly Girl.....planning is so important! Good for you on avoiding that vending machine. Feeling in control also makes me feel stronger.
Es, you must win the water award ;) keeping a bottle by your bed. I'd be spending the entire night in the powder room! You set a great example for all the rest at the restaurant. You know you won't be the one regretting what you ate!
Sandy, YAY for you! That loss is good. :D It's the Happy Dance for you. I know you're on the upswing now.
At a meeting this evening I ran into a woman from our town that I had done some volunteer work with. She looked great, like she'd lost a good amount of weight. When I asked what she had done, she said she lost 70 pounds since last September, on WW.....of course!!!

Not much to look forward to. Asleep when everyone else is awake and awake and working when everyone is asleep. Good luck with everything. You are a sweetie.

I hope your MRI went well. My fingers are crossed for you.
SANDY!!!!!!! WooooooHooooo! That is fantastic. I am so proud of you. What a loss.

Happy May 1st. I love the 1st of every month. I guess it makes me want to push harder cause it's a new month. Does it work? Nah::lol:
Terri, I laughed so hard when I read"let her eyes roll until they fall out and roll on the floor" She's one of the nosiest people I have ever met. She has her desk facing mine so she could see who comes to talk to me & when I'm on the phone. If anyone speaks spanish to me she yells out THAT IS SO RUDE only cause she doesn't understand. She says it in a joking way but I know it bothers her. Yesterday when she was leaving she said she won't see me till next week & in my mind I'm saying YESSSSSSS! Good morning, Friends,
WOW, I just missed a few days checking in and I'm already way behind! This is week 3, day five for me, and I'm hanging in there OP. Yesterday was hard, though, and today I had a sausage egg mcmuffin for breakfast -- I can work it in, but it's going to be a long day! I'm taking my corgi mix to his first agility training class this afternoon and am really excited about that. If all goes well, that will be fun for Charlie and good exercise for me!
Big Hellos to Jen, Dianne, Essie, Terri, Saandy, JanieD, Zoe, Hollygirl, and Pogo:wave:
Zoe, My hubbie is Mr. Bargain hunter and drives me :dizzy: crazy when we shop together! I don't really like to shop, except online, though and so mostly avoid purchasing debates:s: .
Hollygirl , I used to love Coldwater Creek for their washable knits, but lately eveything seems to be Dry Clean Only and they have fewer plus sizes! Glad you are feeling better about life, hang in there!
Dainne, I'm just horrified about the incident at your University. Thank goodness the victim will recover (physically at least.) I manage a large public library, open nights and weekends on a shoestring staff, and we have constant concerns about staff and public safety. I hope you are okay!
Jen, Just say "no" to going back to work!;) I had about a six month hiatus at home after I married, and those were the happiest days of my life:D . Your redecorating project sounds great! I started a wallpapering project in the bird room over a year ago and it's still not finished:p !
Es, Way to go staying OP at the Italian place! That's the way to do it, points calculator and all!
Terri, Hello! I love your graphic, are you a dog lover too?

I had to laugh when you appologized for calling me analytical. I am a scientist. For me "analytical" is a compliment  Sounds like your living room is going to look great.
Congratulations Sandy,
Wow what a loss. Way to go girl!!!! I had a good loss this week too, 2 lb. But I don't think all of it was real because for some reason I started throwing up last night right after dinner. I feel fine now. No fever, no nothing, just lost my cookies and that was it. I know what you're thinking. I am not pregnant! I've given up hoping for a second child, I don't think that is going to happen. :(
Hollygirl,
According to WW I am already at goal within my range. My personal goal is 143 and I am at 147. Almost there...but I have been almost there for 4 months:shrug:
Everyone,
Thank you all for the crossed fingers, etc. I still haven't gotten the results from the Dr. The MRI itself wasn't that bad becuase it was "open MRI". That means that it is open on 3 sides less claustrophobic than the tube type.
Es,
Great job at the resteraunt. You are an example to all of us:D:

Es,
I smell saboteur. I think she is waiting to catch you. What incentive. One time when we first moved to Fl. There were two guys (who soon became our best friends) from Puerto Rico and they used to talk in the break room in front of Bruce in Spanish and then they would throw Bruce's name in there. They loved to watch his face. Being the newbie he was soooo paranoid.
Hi Mel,
YES!!!! I love animals especially dogs. My beloved little mix, Bucky, died in 2000 after 17 yrs. We now have the orneriest dog alive. He is a mix from the shelter and I looooove him so much. He is my baby. Your corgi sounds so cute. My niece has a corgi mix. We did classes when he was 18 weeks old and it was fun. I just wanted to learn how to get him to listen to me. He still doesn't.
Good luck with your day. You are doing great.
No news is good news right? JanieD. I am thinking of you. Please let us know.
I went to the gym today and did weights, elliptical (15 min.) and treadmill (20 min). I feel hungry now so I will indulge on some ww stuff.
Talk to y'all later.

Janie, yep, I DID mean it as a compliment. Glad it came across that way! Congrats on the two pound loss!
Mel, you're not the only one with an unfinished project....I've got 2 out of 3 laundry room cabinet doors stencilled. I ran out of time on the day I began, and just lost interest after that. It drives my niece and sister-in-law crazy when they come over and see it's still not complete.....after more than a year. When they say anything to tease me about it, I tell them I'm waiting till they shut up about it and then I'll do it....not nice, I know

--------------------------------------------------------------------
If you can start the day without caffeine or pep pills,
If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,
If you can overlook when people take things out on you when, through no
fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can do all these things,
Then you are probably the family dog

Hi Girls:wave:
FYI from another website:
Drink Up!
Many reasons why you really should drink those eight glasses of water a day is the fact that givingyour body all the fluids it needs actually helps to speed up your metabolism. As your metabolism is the natural rate at which your body is able to burn fat, dehydration has the unwelcome side-effect of slowing that fat burning capacity down. The more water in your system, the more properly the fat burning function operates. Plus water keeps that hungry feeling at bay!
Zoe, that has happened to me several times{{{errrrr}}} Come back & let us know how you're doing.;)
Jen, I wish people would learn to mind their own business. Sometimes family could be worse than friends. That would bug me if they kept making comments. Sometimes they mean well but they don't realize how annoying they could be.
Terri, that woman makes me feel like she's just dying for me to slip!! I see her doing it with other people too. If she hears you're on a diet she'll take out every fattening thing she can think of & offer it to you with a big smile on her face. She gets upset when I refuse.! Ha! Someone sent me that email too. Maybe it was you? Great going on the exercise:D

Ok, I'm back......grrrrrrr.....I should know better. I tend to forget how many little "smileys" I use, especially when it's a LONG post so when I hit the submit button, it says I have too many.....so why oh why doesn't it let me go back and take some out??????????????? This has happened to me before and I started doing a "copy" just in case I had to "paste".....did I do that this time??? NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO.....<sigh> So here I am again, no time to address everyone this morning but will do that tonight.....
About 3 weeks ago, I may have mentioned the fact that I was just a half a pound away from slittling my throat...yeah, it was a funny line but hey, I was dying!! Anyway, I can say that as of yesterday, I've lost 8 pounds!! :D:D I am still up from my low but I am on my way back down. I think I even may do good on vacation. If I can come back the same, I'll be thrilled.
Well, I have to run to work now. I'll be back tonight to address Y'all. Have a wonderful Thursday.

Hi my Buddies:wave:
Zoe, Your post was so expressive ! Even without the smileys. A happy dance and congrats on being 8 lbs down.
Janie, I hope you are feeling better, a big WOOhOO to you on your 2 lb loss. You are so close to your goal, it must feel great to have it in sight.
Es, I have had some really nosy types at work in the past too. One lady I remember actually picked up my lunch when we were sitting together in the cafeteria and passed it around for the others to check it out. It was a WW concoction that I liked, but I guess it didn't look that appetizing.
Terri, Thanks for the laugh, I checked, but I am not barking, so I guess I am not the pup here.
Mel, You are doing fabulous on program, I am on week 2 and I hope we can all help eachother stay motivated.
Jen, I sure do have projects like that too, I have a friend who can't resist the comments also. So I like your response. I need that, I usually take her observations to heart. I think I need desensitivity training!
Holly, I hope your week is on the upswing, and you made it safely through Wednesday(humpday).

Hello, Friends!
Happy Thursday!!! I've had a rough week and ended up going off program last night, but I got back on this morning and will hang in there until WI tomorrow. I'm sure my loss will be adversely affected, but it's day by day!
JanieD, Congratulations on your weight loss! 2 lbs. is GREAT!
Zoe, EIGHT POUNDS - WOW, WTG!!! You are an inspiration! BTW, I've lost several posts lately and it's very frustrating. I'll start making a copy first too, that's a good idea.
Terri, I'm sorry you lost your Bucky, but am glad you made a home for a new shelter puppy. My Charlie is a shelter "return" and my Ellie is a "throw away". Sweetest babies in the world! Charlie was very shy at agility class last night and I didn't have the right treats, so he mainly just ignored me. That's ok, this week we'll work on "Come". (Baby steps :p , Charlie ignores me too!) Your family dog poem is wonderful, thanks!
ES, Thanks for the info on water. I always feel better when I am drinking my water, but it seems like it is so easy to reach for something else!
Sandancy, How is the program going for you this week? We do need to help each other stay motivated! Just hearing from everyone and sharing our successes and struggles with each other is motivating!
It's going to be 98 here today, hope y'all all keep cool!

Zoe, you're doing it!!!! Allright! The "slitting my throat" phase will be far far behind you in no time.
Mel, one day at a time. That's all we can do. I'm terrible when it comes to straying off program at one meal or snack, and then giving up on the rest of the entire day. Sounds like you'll have fun at those classes with Charlie! Enjoy that heat wave.
Sandy, I can't believe how people can be so insensitive to the feelings of fat/overweight people. They'd never think of passing around someone's hearing aid, or cane (ok, so I'm stretching it a bit!) but it's ok to tease us. GRRRR I absolutely hate that. No one is perfect.
Terri, thanks for the dog poem. It's so touching, I forwarded it to my bro and sil....their "baby", Mabel, is the center of their lives. I know they'll love it! You continue to set a good example for us all......you're at goal, still going to the gym. :D
Es, great article about the benefits of H2O.......it's always a much needed reminder for me! Of course, it's much easier to get most of the waters in when the weather is warm.
Today was my exam....I ACED it with a 94!!!!! Highest grade in the class. I thought I had read it upside down, that it was really 49%.....I thought, no way, this can't be a 94! What a relief. Now begins the studying for the final. While the other classes I took were for fun, and WERE fun, this one is truly challenging. Have to keep those old brain cells working
Today was the SECOND day this week that I exercised. :strong: While I know it shouldn't be a big deal, those of you who have known me a long time know it is. And I love the way I feel for the rest of the day......so I've got to remember that tomorrow when I try to talk myself out of it!
have a great evening,

JEN, I am very happy to hear you're exercising. A little at a time then before you know it you'll look forward to it. I came home with a headache today so I'm going to take it easy. WTG with your 94!!!!!:D I knew you could do it.
MEL, it was wet & dreary here in NY. We had lots of heavy rain this morning but I was at work so I didn't care. We need it anyway.
SANDY, that lady was a real pain in the butt! Passing your food around. She had some nerve! I really have to pray for patience. This woman is not well liked in the office. I'm a softy so I put up with her:rolleyes:
ZOE, "slitting your throat"
There's a lady at my job that joined WW for the first time ever!! At first it was funny cause all she did was ask me how many points in everything she looked at, but now it's not so funny anymore. She walks in talking about points & goes home talking about points. I have to look at it from a positive "point" of view, it'll keep me on track.

Mel,
Congrats for getting right back on. That is the one most important thing we need to learn to do on this program. Straying and staying off is when we mostly give up. Good for you!!!
Charlie and Ellie sound like little dolls. I don't know if Tanner will ever listen. Bucky was an abused dog when we got him. He was already 14 mos. old and had a little mange on his nose. Didn't bark for 3 months and never played. It was so sad. He came around beautifully. When my husband went to get a puppy he couldn't resist those eyes. He was the only one who didn't bark. He had 3 more days until it was time to put him down. He brought him home and I thought it was a 25 pound puppy. We had him for 17 years. Tanner was brought in with his litter. He was 10 weeks when we got him.
Jen,
Too funny about the 94%/49%. That is wonderful. Congrats!
Also congrats on the exercising. You go!!! :strong:
I agree with the insensitivity of overweight people. It isn't fair. They wouldn't dare touch on other subjects.
You are doing SO WELL!!!
Es,
Thanks for the water article. I love water.
Hope you don't have nightmares about POINTS. I hope your fellow ww/co-worker doesn't get burnt out. She is probably excited that there is someone else doing it. You have two extremes there, the sabatour and the point girl. Good luck!

Zoe, have a great time. About my ww at work buddy, it's just that she has to let everybody know she's on the program. Every minute!!! If someone is walking by her desk she'll say something about points or take out her book or yell out to me, how many points is so & so! Not only that, she's a tiny little thing who thinks anyone over 125 is obese! I'm surprised WW let her join. Having her around I have a constant reminder!!!!
Have a fun vacation.;)
Terri, funny about having the 2 extremes:lol: You're right. I had a piece of cake last night & who was I thinking of? The POINTS LADY!!I could hear her voice in my head, asking me how many points is in that piece of cake!

I am having a stretch of good days on program and I am really grateful for it right now.
Tonight Mike and I are going out to dinner and to a play. We go to 6 plays a year at the Huntington Theatre in Boston as subscription members. We have seen all kinds of things that we never would have chosen individually. I can't tell if I am getting any classier or more intellectual doing this, Heaven forbid. I prefer to be the down to earth type. The truth is if I ever have wine at dinner before a play I tend to doze off.
Es, We talked about rent a shopper and rent a husband, but maybe I need to rent your points lady. I will be out to dinner tonight, and also tomorrow. I banked 6 pts and I am trying to eat low pts today. by the way I am a softy too, they are my favorite people
Jen, That is fantastic, a 94%, Highest grade, WooHoo!
Terri, I watched Will and Grace last night, Glenn Close was a stitch
Zoe, Where in Virginia are you going?
I used to live in Virginia and then Maryland from 1975-1983.
Holly, I am finding that planning ahead is one of my best tools right now. I still need to work on journalling better.
Mel, Glad to hear you jumped back on program. Each little choice is what counts over time.
Hi Ruth, Pogo, where is Myra?

Zoe,

Es,
You have a bunch of wacky women where you work. The sabatour:devil:, the points police:nono:, what next???
Holly,
I am not a Medical Dr. but I can certainly speak from my own experience. I was on a prescription medication for migrane (unfortunately I don't remember what it was) and it made me so irritable and short tempered. At one point I found myself in the laundry room crying over the laundry. Now laundry is not my favorite chore but it never put me in tears before, that is when I knew something was really wrong. I figured out that it was the med that was making me irritable, and stopped taking it immediately. Hormones can do that too. In our 40s our hormones turn on us, after we've finally gotten used to them. All I'm trying to say is that maybe there are some chemical imbalances and you should consider talking to an MD. I appologize if I am sticking my nose in where it shouldn't be, but I have been thinking about you a lot lately (because I have been where you are) and would like to help if I can.
Hugs to everyone,
JanieD

Hello, Friends,
I'm so glad it's Friday and I don't have to work this weekend! YEAH! I have WI tonight and my DH already told me not to get discouraged and quit (he knows me pretty well) if I don't do as well this week. I'm fired up again for a new week OP!
Terri, Bucky's story makes me want to cry. I rescued our Ellie from a park -- she was mange, skin and bones, dirty and dull eyed -- just a pup and now she's happy, healthy and sweet as pie. Our Charlie was so shy when we got him that he wouldn't eat in front of us and didn't want to look directly at us. He's still a little shy, but he is a loving caretaker for Ellie, the cats, the birds, DH and me! Tanner is lucky to have found a home with you! BTW, at agility class Charlie was shy and baffled, but I think he'll enjoy it when he gets comfortable.
ES, Your points lady would drive me crazy too, especially if she does not need to loose weight. Maybe you should try giving her a dose of her own medicine and go on and on and on and on about your diet when she over does it again? Maybe she'll start avoiding the topic!
Jen, Congrats on your high exam score! What, may I ask, are you studying? Are you getting a degree? Keep up the good work with your exercise. I've done a little more this week and it always feels so good!
Sandy, What play are y'all going to see? I love theater but don't get to go as often as I'd like. We're going for a long weekend in Chicago week after next and will see if we can get tickets to anything while we are there.
HollyGirl, You are doing great! Cake is OP as long as you count it. I agree that hormonal changes can do a real number on your emotions during your forties. I'm thankfully past it now, but had problems with mood swings and anger flashes, besides all the rest. What worked for me, and still does when it comes up, is to just take a breath and then tell DH what I am feeling: "I'm feeling really angry/upset/sad right now and I don't know why. I need for you to ...." My DH has always been responsive to this and does whatever it is (hugs, make dinner, feed the animals...) Hope your fell better soon.
Everybody else, hello and have a good weekend!

Mel,
I "retired" from my retail job of 24 yrs. in Aug. 2000. I've always regretted not having gone to college (was married at 18!); now that I have the time I'm taking classes that interest me. I've completed some computer and bookkeeping classes. This semester I'm taking Accounting 101. While I originally didn't think I'd pursue a degree at this stage in my life, I'm starting to give it some thought now. Thanks for asking. And hey, no matter what happens at WI this evening....don't quit! You have us here to help you....along with what sounds like a very supportive husband.
Sandy,
Have fun tonight at the play. Good job on planning and banking in advance. Let us know what you see.
Terri,
Who are you picking as the winner on Survivor? I'd love to see Vecepia win it. Looks like we all have the same favorites on Thursday evenings. Did they make mention of Sept. 11 on the show? How do you know that?
Zoe,
Enjoy your trip! 5 days of R & R......have fun!

Hi All my buds,
We have had a really busy weekend. The play was interesting, but not really uplifting. It was "The Sons of Ulster Marching Toward the Somme". It was about the camraderie and support soldiers give each other, amidst the horrors of war. It is a little too real nowadays where we can identify with some of it only too easily.
I had a successful WW dinner out on Friday, and I thought I would make it through Saturday too. BUT, that church dinner got to me. It was our annual canvass dinner, and our minister had just came back from sabbatical. Everyone pulled out all the stops, and my downfall was the dessert buffet. It was only one event though, and I am feeling really good about dusting myself off and eating my Kashi for breakfast.
Es, We have a pool too. I never expected to own one, but this house, we bought just 3 years ago, came with an old inground pool. (lots of maintenance, but so far it is worth the effort) You have access to pools all year round, you lucky lady! Don't resist! Someday, I know you will have to take advantage of it.
Teri, I don't have animals, too many allergies here, but I love them so much, I love hearing your stories.
:hb: Happy Birthday to Brittany, what a wonderful time of year to have a birthday.
Jen, Congrats on getting the painting done!
I will be joining you in the gardening efforts this week, it is one of my favorite places and a great distraction from my other main interests, studying cookbooks, cooking, and of course eating.
Hi to the rest of the gang, hope you are enjoying the weekend!

HI!!!!
Thanks for Britt's birthday wishes Es.
Susie sounds so cute. I could just squeeze her.
Britt's thinks guys are hot but she isn't interested in going out yet. She has had a few ask her out but she diesn't feel comfortable yet. She wears a little make-up.
We have the DVDs of Remember the Titans, Return to Me, Battlestar Gallactica, Stand By Me, The Godfather trilogy, Matrix,
Shrek, The Mummy and The Mummy 2 and about 10 more. We got our DVD about a year and a half ago but I still love the VCR. I have to tape my shows. LOL
Jen,
Have a great time in that pool. I am so jealous. One day! :D
Thanks for Britt's birthday wish.
The one thing I love about DVDs are the extra stuff you get.
Thanks so much Sandy. Britts loves to read these when it pertains to her. I am so sorry you are allergic to these wonderful fur balls.
We had a pool in Fl. but it will be a few years before we get one here. We may move to Colorado Springs in a couple years so we may wait. Colorado Springs is the fittest city in the US right now. I just read that in Womans World. I would have to move there. I better stay at goal.
We are taking her to Bennigans for her b-day dinner. I can then partake in embarrasing her with song from the waiters. I hope there is a cute young guy and that will really embarrass her.
Then we are coming home to 2 chocolate cream pies. She doesn't like cake so pies it is. I will put her candles in a zinger. She loves those. I am not eating until Bennigans.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Hi:wave:
Terri, I found the website.:) Thanks anyway. OMG Bennigans!!! We celebrated lots of birthdays there. One year the whole place sang Happy Birthday to David. We had a blast! I hope Brittany has a great time. Cool place to take her;)
Sandy, just the thought on putting on a bathing suit makes me not want to go to the pool. One of these days that will change. Great attitude about dusting yourself off. This is for life & there will be lots of days when we'll slip. As long as we get right back on track. That's why we're called Fabulous 40's ;)
Well, my buddies, I'm going to relax & watch my Lifetime channel.
They have the best movies on Sundays.
Enjoy the rest of the day & Happy Cinco de Mayo:wave:

I didn't get back on last night Es and I was about to go find it and I decided to check out the Fab 40s first and I am glad I did.
I loved Bennigans. We had the best waiters. They made it fun. A cute guy did sing to her and she was flustered. :o
I did pretty well yesterday. I went over points a littleand will make up within the next couple of days. I call it charging my points.

Happy Monday, everyone!
Even though it's cloudy and raining now, the weatherman has promised it'll become sunny this afternoon. I was planning on getting some work done in the yard, but it'll be too muddy.
I got my grandson "fix" yesterday  Jess, Michael and the boys were here for the day. Matt is 22 months, has no fears, was mud from head to toe, trying to climb the fence, trying to eat worms. He's a little tornado  Brandon was thrilled to be Gramp's buddy all day, looking up different bugs in nature books, and feeding the turtles (Joe's "pets"....5 of them). We had a great day, barbecued and had some Mexican dishes in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Terri, glad Britts bday was fun. Be glad she's not interested in dating yet......they're gone way too soon! You must have moved a lot over the years due to Bruce's job? Colorado Springs sounds cool.
Es, I'd give anything for access to a pool, etc.year-round! The only thing that's keeping us from moving to a warmer climate is the grandsons.....I couldn't bear to be away from them.
Sandy, as Dianne says, life has a way of getting in the way of our efforts to stay OP. You've enjoyed the dessert buffet and got right back OP. That's all we can do.
I did fairly well over the weekend in terms of staying OP. Didn't journal :( but was so busy that I only ate at meals, no snacking :) which is a step in the right direction. I've got to concentrate on drinking my water, which I know fills me up so I stay away from munchies.
see you later,

Hello, Friends!
How's everybody doing on the spring challenge? I lost 1.5 pounds at WI, so I'm still moving in the right direction!
Jen, School sound great! I'd be a perpetual student if I could. You are soooo lucky to have a pool. I'd give anything to be able to cool off with a swim whenever I wanted. We have to drive to the beach or the community pool.
Terri, What a beautiful tribute to Bucky! Thank you for sharing!
Sandy, You made me smile, I eat Kashi most mornings for breakfat, with yogurt. Have you tried their "Go Lean" product? Lots of good sticks and twigs!:D

Happy Birthday to Britany! Hope she had a good one.
Everyone,
I have not been very good this week at all:devil: I really haven't journaled since last Wed. I am back OP today. Mondays are always good for starting over. I also haven't been exercizing as much as I usually do because my allergies have been awful. I am going to go to the gym today but I will probably do a lighter workout because I am so scratchy/sniffy/sneezy/wheezy/sleepy I could be all 7 dwarfs put together
Still no word on my MRI. This Dr. is sure taking his time.

For some reason I stopped getting emails notifying me that there was a new post -- so I completely forgot to stop by!!!
Tomorrow is the end of my 1st week on WW -- I'll post then and (hopefully) will be able to celebrate with all of you :D A girlfriend at church/work lost 5 lbs. already. I'm setting mini-goals, so when I lose that first 5 lbs. I'm going to treat myself to a piece of jewelry or something (costume, of course, nothing too overboard!).
Gotta go, it's so HUMID here today. 77 degrees but 80% humidity -- ugh.
Watch for my post on Tuesday a.m. :) :) :)

Hi Buddies,
Mel, I sure do eat the Go Lean often. It is on sale at my supermarket this week, and I stocked up. It was only 1.99 a box. I usually eat it with a few dried cranberries on top.
Holly,Good Luck tomorrow with your weigh In. You really worked hard this week!
Janie I get that 7 dwarf syndrome in the fall. My younger son has it now as he is allergic to the oak pollen which is in full force today. I hope you feel better soon.
I had a hard time sticking to the program over the weekend. I started Sunday back on track, but when Mike suggested stopping for an ice cream yesterday, I went along. I did get frozen yogurt. I usually don't have such a sweet tooth, but this weekend was a toughie.
Big hugs to all, talk to you tomorrow,

Okay, I went from 166.5 to 165 -- just 1.5 lbs. lost, but I guess that's better than a 1.5 lb. gain. I've got to hide my scales this week, 'cause of course I couldn't resist just taking a peek (like 2-3 times each day). I KNOW that'll make a difference.
Anyone have any favorite WW recipe websites they can share with me? I need some ideas for breakfast especially.
Gotta go start my day, chat w/ you all later on! Have a  Tuesday!!

Hello, Friends,
Day 4 on week 4 for me and I'm holding steady OP!;)
JanieD, Monday's are a good day to get back OP. How is it going today? You can do it! My allergies used to drive me crazy until I got on Zrytec -- it's great and I'm virtually sympton free now.
Hollygirl, :jig: Hurray, hurray, it's YOUR Day! -1.5 pounds your first week is terrific! Doesn't it make you feel great?:D My breakfast menus are limited: boiled eggs & instant cheese grits or yogurt & cereal or cheese toast. Not very original, I know!
Sandy, Good deal on Go Lean! Do you use dried, sweetened cranberries, fresh or frozen? I love fruit on my cereal but haven't tried cranberries. It's soooooo hard to say "no thank you" when DH asked me to go out to eat or get some ice cream, etc. I feel like I'm depriving him if I don't go and he doesn't like it if I don't eat with him. But so far, this time, I am just saying no!:s:
Hi, Ruth! Hi everybody else! Hope y'all have a good day!

Mel, congrats on the loss! And it sounds as though you're into another good week :D
HollyGirl, way to go on the loss! If you think it's "only" 1.5....think of it as 6 sticks of butter......gone!
Janie, I don't know what I'd do without Zyrtec for my allergies. This time of year is the worst for me. Es and I love Mondays  that's why I call myself the queen of fresh starts.
Sandy, good choice on the frozen yogurt.....better than going with the ice cream. It's difficult for couples who are 50/50, one needing to lose and not the other.

Jen,
We have been pretty lucky. We moved to Florida in 1983 and stayed there until 1997. Then we moved here. Bruce was offered a transfer this year to Colorado but we hated to move Brittany while a sophomore in high school. So we will see after she graduates.
I am so glad you had a great time with the grandkids.
Mel,
Yay!!!! That is a great loss.
I love the Go Lean Crunch by Kashi.
JanieD,
Thanks for Britt's birthday wishes. Hope you feel better.
HollyGirl,
Way to go on the loss. Going in the right direction! YAY!!!!!
I eat eggbeaters or oatmeal or the Kashi cereals.
Here is a good site. I just found it last week.

Ruth,
Good luck in school. When is it over?
Sandy,
"WEIGH" to go on the yogurt. That was a great alternative.
That cow is cute!
Well Bruce is in Atlanta for a few days. Brittany treated us at Wendys. I argued and I lost. She does this whenever she has money. She loves to buy stuff for us. She bought me a DVD of Tango and Cash for Mother's Day and a few other things (won't show me). I try to tell her to save but she loves to buy. I am so glad she is good hearted. She'll be poor but good hearted.

HI gals,
I WI this morning and gained 1.5 lb. Considering I just got my period and I was not journaling for most of the week I guess I should be happy it wasn't worse. OUr weather has been so perfect for exercizing but my allergies have been so miserable. Today I will try to do my 2 mile walk at lunch time. I have been popping the allegra like candy. My daughter takes zyrtek, because they won't prescribe allegra for children, but my insurance doesn't cover the zyrtek. That is why I am not taking it.

Does anyone else here eat when they're stressed? Today was a horrible day for me at work -- so much to do, so little time (and only me to do it all, as I have no assistant, no secretary, etc.). I had my husband swing by and get our son and I came home to continue working while they went to church. When I got home (I had internet work to do) the cable modem was out  Unfortunately, the first thing I thought of was food, and I gave in  Oh, well, I guess there's always the hope that tomorrow's another day and no sense beating up on myself for a moment of weakness.
I'm going to try to move my WI day to Friday, more convenient for me I think. My next WI will be on Wednesday, then Thursday and finally Friday.
Have a great night, everyone!!!

Hi Buds,
I found my little indiscretions added up to a gain this week. I weighed in yesterday and was up 0.6. I was disappointed to find that I have so little leeway. I am hoping that if I up my exercise, that would help in the long run. I am back on track though and looking ahead.
I don't know if I mentioned that I exercise at a Bally's fitness club with my younger son Greg. He spends 30-40 minutes running on the treadmill, while I do 30 minutes on a stationary bike. Then he moves on to use the weights, and I spend about 20 minutes walking on the treadmill. We have been going twice a week. I was counting my time in the garden as exercise, but maybe I need to walk more often.
Mel, that is a neat site, but thank Terri for the link.
Holly, I am sorry you had a tough day, I am a master at eating under stress. We all have to work on changing our choices a little at a time.
Es,I hate losing posts, and I was really looking forward to hearing from you. Try again tomorrow, we miss you.

IT"S OVER!!
I took my last final today. I should have the official grades by next Tuesday. I think I came away with 3 A's and 1 B for the semester.
First thing tomorrow, I plan on reading all of your post and catch up on everything around here.
JEN, good luck with your test. I now have 3 full weeks of freedom before summer classes begin. I plan on spending them doing spring cleaning. Heck, I may even plant some flowers!!
BTW, I am really getting back on the wagon. I am walking 3 to 6 times a week now, and I'm drinking my water. My food choices are getting better with each day. I'm still concentrating on making the exercise a regular routine, then I'll work on FOOD!! I'm currently hoping to be down by 10 lbs by Summer. I know that isn't my 10%, but since I've been stuck in the lower 160's for several months, 10 lbs will be more than enough to make me grin!

Sandancy, I'm get frustrated at how little leeway we have too, but since you are exercising, maybe you are building muscle (?), which weighs more than fat.:D

I think that there are 2 kinds of people in this world.(Here I go again Jen...being analytical.) People that eat when they are stressed and skinny people;) Everyone of us in this group has their own favorite comfort food. Mine is chocolate...Milky Way bars :T: to be exact. The important thing is that you get right back OP.

That's what I love about this thread.....everyone brings something different.....there you go again, Janie, being analytical  but you are so right about there being two different kinds of people in this world.......my take on it is that there are two classifications....skinny people and people who love to eat, whatever the reason. I definitely belong to the latter.
{As a disclaimer: I know there are many thin people who love to eat. My best friend can eat whatever she likes, and never never shows it. THAT'S the type I mean.}

Hi Friends,
I have had the chance this week to be totally obsessed with my garden, and so mostly I have been raking and moving my small mountain of loam (4 cubic yards). I am only 30% done.:strong:
I have a little respite this weekend, we are off to Maine right by the ocean until Sunday.
By the way, my mom is continuing to improve. She is now moving along with a cane rather than the walker. The question now is where she will live. Ever since the car accident she hasn't been able to live on her own. That was in Nov of 1998. She still owns her home, but none of us can see her managing it alone again. My sister-in-law wants her to move out of their house this summer and is becoming uncivil to my mom (sometimes downright mean). We are telling her to move in here, now! I think I will need some support not to stress eat sometimes over this. So thanks ahead of time for any words of wisdom.
Ruth, Way to go on working hard! Those are terrific grades! sometimes when I am off program I work my way back gradually just like you are starting with one aspect like the exercise or journalling.
Holly, I like your idea for rewards. I used to buy myself flowers every week for a loss. Nowadays I think I will reward myself just for weighing in at the meetings with either a loss or a gain. I just want to persist and not punish myself for what might just be a water imbalance.
Mel Thanks for all your encouragement, good Luck with your weigh in today.
Love to all of you - Es, Janie, Terri, Jen, Pogo.
Dianne I hope you are well. and Zoe I hope you enjoyed Virginia.

Hi Girls:wave:
Happy Friday(TGIF)!
Terri, good going with the exercise. If I was there I would give you a HIGH FIVE!
HollyGirl, a red dress is very sexy. I want a slinky black dress with thin straps & low back. Or if I'm going formal a long slinky black dress with a low back & a slit on the side. I like mini goals. They are so much more realistic.
Jen, are you spending time with the boys this weekend? My sister wants to go to the Red Lobster Mother's Day:eek: It's going to be packed!
Mel, you are not alone when it comes to struggling. I motivate myself with visualizing myself with summer clothes. Everyday is a struggle but we can do it.
Janie, I love dark chocolate! My favorites are the Dove squares. They're 1 pt each. A serving size is 5 pts. but I would never eat 5 even though it's tempting when I'm stressing at work. Pete likes Milky Ways.
Ruth, sounds like you're back on track. I never continued posting in the walking club thread.:( I am walking on my treadmill 4 days a week plus resistance training with bands.
Oh Jen, I saw the walking tapes for $23 at BJ's. I almost bought them. It took me like 15 minutes to decide. Do the blue balls:lol:come separate?
Sandy, activity points is the key. Some people don't use them but I do. Maybe not everyday but I take whatever I can get. This program is slow & steady. You'll get there you'll see. ;) That is sooooooooooo cool that you go to the gym with your son.

Essie -- Dove dark chocolate squares are wonderful!!!!! I'm not sure what I'm getting for Mother's Day, but that would be a great gift! I've hinted at a couple of things, but who knows if the hints were noticed  Also your idea of a slinky black dress sounds great. Not sure where I'd wear one, but I'd love to have one!
I think I decided that my red dress will be a sheath style dress. I just love those, they're so cute and flattering. I don't feel I can wear one right now though 'cause my legs/knees are so chunky. But maybe when I reach goal it'd be better.
Well, gotta go get ready for work. I've just moved my WI day to Friday, so I'm starting the day at 163.5, down 3 lbs. from when I started on 04-30 :D :D :D Wish me luck in the coming week!!

Sandy,
I am so sorry about your mom's situation. Maybe it is better for someone to care for her that has unconditional love. I think a daughter is the best bet. You are wonderful for wanting her to move there. Have a wonderful time in Maine and that is
about your yard. What great exercise there.
I also love your rewards just for weighing. You should be proud.
Thanks for the High 5 Es. I got it. I aired it after I read this.
I LOVE Dove. Especially when they are wrapped in foil that look like presents at Christmas. I keep a tupperware of chocolate hidden so the kids and I mean all 4 of them  can't just grab. I told them if they wanted a small amount ask me and I will get it. Just knowing I have it and can have it anytime makes me not obsess over chocolate. Sometimes I will go a week without a piece. It is all a mind game with me.
And a HIGH 5 to you with your exercise. That is great!!!!
BLUE BALLS
Speaking of which. I have a big blue exercise ball. I love it!
YAY HollyGirl,
3 pounds is great! You are getting there. I think you will look wonderful in that red dress.
And Es you will look lovely in your black one.

Es, enjoy Red Lobster on Mother's Day. You'll do well in the week to come, it's important to do something special on our day. Blue Balls! I ordered the set of 3 videos from Amazon and they came with it. Have I used them yet? No....when I walk outdoors I don't use the BB, am waiting for the vcr to be hooked up and see how they're used in the video. The entertainment center should be delivered in a week or so, we won't have any of the video/audio components working till then :( I miss my stereo!
HollyGirl, you're doing well, keep it up! Hope you get what you want for Mother's Day :D
Sandy, your Mom is very lucky to have you to depend on. I love your idea of the weigh-in rewards. Have a great trip.

Zoe, ,
Glad you had a great time. Don't worry about starting over that is what we are supposed to do. If not we would all be 400+ pounds. You will do great!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!! That is beautiful about the roses. Such a sweetie!
Jen,
Hope the rain holds out. Bruce and the kids are taking me to a Mother's Day Brunch. I plan to drink Champaign. Maybe we'll put the kids at another table. Just kidding. Maybe!!!!! ;)
I hope you have a wonderful Mother's day.
That goes for everyone! Have a great weekend.
Oh yeah, We took the kids to see Spiderman. As they said "It was way cool!" TTYL.

Hey girls, well I haven't still haven't caught up on everyone's post like I wanted to. Actually the last two days I have spent on line with a cousin that I haven't seen since her mothers funeral in 1986. We have been sending photos back and forth to each other, that can get pretty time consuming.
TERRI, have a wonderful Mother's Day, brunch sounds like a nice idea. I will probably go to visit my mom, unless she comes to my house. We live an hour and a half from each other. If she wants to see her great grandchildren, then it would be easier for her to come see me. If that happens, my hubby will cook out for everyone.
ZOE, your husband must be a "keeper", oh and happy anniversary. As for starting over, you will be fine.
SANDY, so glad to hear that your mother is still doing so well. I know that must take a lot of worry off you. I will continue to keep you and your mom in my prayers.
ES, yes, and it feels so great to be succeeding on a daily basis. Some days are harder than others, but since I started walking I don't have those horrible cravings. You know the kind were you want something to eat, but nothing satisfies you. I usually end up feeling like a "bottomless pit" when that happens. The water and exercise seems to curve them.
JENNY, yes there are thin people that can eat whatever they want and not gain an ounce. My daughters must have gotten their father's genes when it comes to weight. I know they are young but after two children each, neither of them has gained weight. The 21 year old is still in a five and the 24 year old is in a 7. Heck, I started gaining weight right after the wedding, by the time the kids came I was already bigger than when I married. LOL
Well, I'm off to bed, sweet dreams everyone.

Hi to all my buddies,
Well, it's 3:22am - and I'm finally catching up with you all! I've been busy planning an after prom party - which is happening right now! My friend and I are in charge of it, but because our sons are seniors, we are not allowed to work at it. Parents of underclassmen do all the volunteering at the party. It started at midnight and will end at 5.
I;m going back at 4:30 to clean up. I came home and tried to sleep, but then got the official call that my son was leaving the party. This was not in the plan, so I did the mother thing - sat here and waited. He did come home and is now sleeping.
As far as WW and OP goes, I haven't been to a meeting for 3 weeks. I feel ok, but will get to one next Friday. I have been drinking the water - but not doing too much walking. Maybe later today (after a long nap) or Sunday. Actually, on Mother's Day, if it doesn't rain, my Mom and me and whoever else wants to tag along are going to Boston. There is this awesome new bridge called the Zakim-Bunker Hill Bridge - it's breathtaking. It will be open to foot traffic and we'll walk across it! Then we'll find somewhere nice to have lunch. That's the plan right now - pray for good weather!
Our garden looks great thanks to my husband's hard work. He's getting all the exercise!
OK, I'll check in later - when I'm more awake.
Happy Mother's Day to you all! Enjoy it.

Hi, all -- Happy, happy Saturday :spin:
It's raining here (again/still) but I have great plans for the day. My husband is at a rehearsal -- at our church, we have an annual event called Piano Praise on a Grand Scale. It's a concert that features 11 grand pianos with 11 and sometimes 22 pianists playing simultaneously. It's very great; he's one of the pianists, and he'll be at rehearsal until noon.
Then we're putting together a new fort bed for our 5-yr-old son (who's very excited to get out of the toddler bed!). And then after that I'm going shopping w/ my sister to look for a cute outfit to wear to my staff appreciation day next Thursday. We get to take off work at 9 a.m. and go out and have a fun treat -- don't know what it is yet but I think it includes lunch at a nice restaurant (maybe a steak place -- K.C. is known for steaks after all!).
And on the way home I think I'll stop by Blockbuster and rent "Ocean's Eleven" with that cute George Clooney, Brad Pitt, etc., etc. Should be a good day. And I'll keep eating in check as well. Had oatmeal for breakfast, which always lasts a long time.
Bye for now, will check in again later

Hi, Friends!
Happy Mother's Day one and all! My DH and DSS are taking me out to dinner and movie. I'm thinking Outback for dinner since I can get a nice grilled fish and salad. I wanted to see the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, but it's not out yet, so maybe Spiderman?
I lost 2.5 pounds at WI this week! That makes 15 for month one and I'm very happy that WW is working so well for me this time. :jig: I know all the support from y'all is the key for me! Thanks!:D
Hi Ruth, Pogo, ES, JanieD and Jen!
Sandy, Hope you have a lovely weekend at the beach! What a terrible situation for your mother to live with an unkind DIL! I'll keep you in my prayers for a good resolution (for both you and your mother.)
Hollygirl, You are doing so well! I love your idea of rewarding yourself as you go along. DH & I are going for a long weekend in Chicago next week and I'll think of that as my reward for one month OP (with only a few slips!;) )
Terri, Thanks for your support! I did great at WI, lost 2.5 lbs. You are doing great with your exercise!
Zoe, Happy anniversary! 23 roses for 23 years, sigh.....what a romantic DH you have!
Hope y'all have a good weekend!

Hi Ruth.
I hope your mom comes in. You will have a few generations there. That will be nice. Have a great Mother's Day.
Pogo,

HollyGirl,
Have a great time.
Mel,
WOW!!! DOING THE HAPPY DANCE FOR YOU!!!!! 15 DOWN IN 1 MONTH!!!!! 2.5 YAY!!!!!!!
Outback sounds really good. I am not as good as you I would have to go for the Outrback special. I am so awed that you can get fish there. Congrats! My hubby and kids are taking me to a champaign brunch at the Marriott here by the Spaceport. It is beautiful there. We saw Spiderman last night. Good movie. Bruce has loved the spiderman cartoon since he was little and he loved it as much as the boys. I want to see Unfaithful. That poor Dianne Ladd in the movie she has to choose between Richard Geer and that Romeo.
I hope y'all have a wonderful MOM'S DAY!!!!!!!!
