Default How much do you subtract for clothing?

How much do clothes weigh? Like, a sweater, a pair of jeans, socks, bra, and underwear? I've always been of the mind that if you weigh yourself clothed, you can subtract at least a pound.

I went to the doctor for my annual exam today, and of course they weighed me. This is the first time I've been on a scale other than my own since I started losing weight, and I wanted to compare the reading on my home scale to the reading at the doctor's office. At home this morning, I weighed 150 lbs. (naked), and a few hours later at the doctor's office, I weighed 151.7 (clothed).

I know my weight fluctuates throughout the day, so this is really just a matter of curiosity. When I get undressed tonight, I'm going to weigh my outfit!

Yes, I am a dork.

hmm... try this. Weigh yourself the same way you weighed yourself this morning at home (naked and stomach empty, I assume). Then weigh yourself with the clothes you wore to your appt. Then, you should be able to see how much they weigh.

Oh I just strip down to my skivvies in the doc's office so I'm not sure.

I'm kidding. But my doc's scale is about 2-3 pounds less than mine even with clothes on. I've thought about stealing it for the sake of my sanity at times. I would say you could subtract at least a pound or two, especially if you have jeans on. Otherwise it would depend on how thick the clothes are and the material.

In truth, I haven't a clue, but my mom, the true queen of rationalization when it comes to weight loss, always said two pounds for your clothes if you leave your shoes on and one pound if you take them off. I go with that...

I hate doctors scales. They always weigh me 5-8lbs more than I do at my scale at home. Grrrr.

There is this, too. When you go to your doctor's oofice, not only are you clothed but you may have eaten a meal and drunk water or some other liquid. It all has an effect on the scales.

i always think about this. last night i weighed myself wearing my workout clothes, no shoes and was around 193. when i got back on the scale with my shoes, purse and jacket i was 199. i was just curious i guess at how much my purse really weighs.

but it's nice to be below 200 now with all that crap on.

I don't subtract anything for clothing, only because when I weigh myself I am wearing the same thing everytime: shorts and a sports bra.

I weigh myself at the same time of day (morning, after waking up, with an empty bladder, stomach, etc) so I can be pretty sure about things being more "accurate."

If I get on a scale under other circumstances, like at the doctors or after some wild impulse when I stagger in the door after a night out, then I don't pay much attention to the number that pops up.

I weigh myself nekie at home, and clothed without shoes at work and my work scale is always less, so my clothes weigh negative...right? right? Lol!

I never never look at the scale in the doctor's office. It could mess with my head so I just look away.
