Default 5 Days and 5lbs Down, but..Feeling like poo and discouraged! :(

So today I hopped on the scale. 233! Thats 5lbs from when I started P1 five days ago. I was so excited! And I even feel like my cravings for all those sweets are disappearing. I've had some headaches and was a little achey a few days ago but other than that I've felt very satisfied.

Then today at the end of my shift at work, I suddenly started to feel light headed and very shaky. I'm wondering if its because my blood sugar is all out of whack??? I didn't want to cheat, but I had a small glass of OJ just in case it was my blood sugar. Did any of this happen to you?? And if so, what did you do to plow through it. I'm not someone that has very high tolerance for feeling ill so if this continues I'm afraid I'm going to fall off track.

I know phase 1 is only a couple of weeks, and then I can have some delicious fruit But I'm just worried that I'm making myself very sick, and no diet is worth your health.

Beans, hummus, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc will really help with the blood sugar. Keep some snacks with carb around for emergencies. They really help

I hope that weak, shaky feeling has passed, QTestRDH! Are you including enough beans and dairy in your diet every day? The South Beach plan is a very healthy eating plan, so I don't understand why you would question it?

Yes the weak shakiness has passed And I'm not so much questioning the diet, just questioning what I'm doing wrong. I think I'm probably not eating enough, I'm def not eating enough beans. I guess I didn't realize how important beans were!

Before the shakiness, I had eggs for breakfast. Cucumber salad, cheese stick, green bean/yellow bean veggie medley, and a sugar free jello for lunch. So maybe thats not enough?

Thanks for the tips on keeping snacks with carbs around for an emergency!!

Not enough food for lunch. I'd eat more protein than that. I think beans would be a good addition too. Another thing that helped me in Phase I was the daily nut allowance also.

You've been given great advice here so I won't add, but just wanted to say congrats on the 5 lbs, you are doing great, hang in there!

This happens to me occasionally, too, and I agree with Anne. Not enough food at meals or skipping snack time usually bring it on for me. I just eat something (SB approved) and it goes away. Good luck, it sounds like you are doing great so far!

I think it's always good to question things if you're not entirely sure. Congratulations on the loss!!
