Morning, turtles!

It is so nice up here today - enjoying it while it lasts. Hard to believe we haev already seen snow, when today is so warm.

Judy - nice to see you have a "Action Plan" & that will get you the results you are looking for - good going!

How is everyone's menu these days? As you know, I am always looking for something new to try or change things up.

Today for my breakfast I had a whole wheat wrap toasted with tomato, lettuce and cheese - was a nice change.

Good morning turtles.

I haven't posted in a long while so I thought I would start again. I have started back OP as of today. I'm looking forward to losing and know that I can do it. However, I must remind myself that I didn't gain it all in a day so it isn't going to come off in a day.

I plan on increasing my water intake and also starting exercise. Just don't know what type of exercise I want to start on.

For breakfast I had Yogurt and a piece of cheese. I'm excited about my lunch today - Taco Soup. Nummy.

Judy -- re the pep talk: you're welcome, I'm glad it helped. Sometimes airing out your troubles can make a world of difference when it comes to managing them. I had a good day away from work, and I feel so organized now. :) I am looking forward to the party...I need to go to Bookman's (our local used media store) and grab some games for the party. That's our main activity -- eat and games. So I will need lots of veggies and fruit to fill me up. :) Anyway, it sounds like you are doing all the right things and getting back on track in many ways

Bandit -- I'm glad you're having good weather. Remind me, are you doing core? If not, WW has two lasagna recipes posted on their website that look quite tasty, since you're looking for recipes.

Dori -- I don't think we know each other, but it's nice to meet you, and good to see you back on track :)

Ladies -- doing well on the eating track. I had a co-worker tell me off, and not only did I maintain my control, I did not do much stress-related eating (I stopped at a 2-point Starbucks Caramel Frappucino Light, and ate it slowly.) I ranted to my friend, and I felt better afterwards. :) I didn't make it to the gym, I found out late in the day that my mother's Aunt passed away. Nobody I knew well, but I had to come home and make all of the familial calls before it got too late (they live in Joliet, not 2 hours from Chicago, so they're 2-3 hours ahead.) I'm fine, I barely knew the woman. But I feel bad for my Mom and her cousin.

Anyway, I'm going to do 30 minutes of post-processing on some wedding photos (not my own), and then see to dinner. Have a good night, ladies.

Much cheaper than WW for weekly meetings & WW keeps increasing their fees and really pushing their own products - so time for a much needed change.

Hi everyone! It has been so long since I have been able to post! My new job is going well, it is very stressful but it is a job so I am counting my blessings! I miss you all very much but the security at my new job is tight so I am not able to get on line there unless it is company related so it is only when I have a minute when I get home. My drive home takes sooooo long! The morning drive is not too bad but coming home it is terrible. oh well, again, at least I have a job.

My eating is terrible right now and exercise is basically nothing at all. I am going to get back on track and back on plan as of this coming Saturday... no more excuses and I will have two weeks in at my new job so things hopefully will get back into a pattern again.

I don't have time to go back and get caught up on the old posts but I did wanted to stop in and say hello!

Take care everyone and I will try and get back on line more often!

Princess, so glad to hear from you. We understand the stress you're under and we're sending :goodvibes: and a :grouphug: to keep in touch. So glad your job is working out and that you have one! I know you'll be right back on track very soon. You'll plan and prepare and get it all together. Maybe you'll even get out one of your DVDs for exercise.

I better follow my own advice. I've got things planned for tonight and tomorrow which is my dh's :hb: and the family is coming in. We're going to order take out which makes my life easier than cooking. I'm planning ahead for Thanksgiving and for Christmas and I've been doing more baby sitting than usual so I've got to make good use of my time.
Okay--I've gotta run, but everybody keep on keepin' on!

Princess - nice to see you back posting again & great you are doing well with your new job. In time, you will be back focussed on your eating/exercising and will be back on track.

Judy - sounds like you are doing great with your planning ahead. Keep up the good work.

I was down .75# this week and was monthly Biggest Loser for October at Tops with a total loss of 6# - & received a charm, so that was nice.

I went swimming/hot-tub this afternoon with my neighbour and that felt great after raking more leaves.

Have a dinner out with my ladies group tonight - so have to make good choices for that.

Last night five of us in the family went to see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall with the Rockettes. It was so much fun. We try to go every year and this year was as much fun as ever. Today we're celebrating my dh's :hb: and one of our dd's and our grandson will sleep over so it'll be a busy weekend.
I've got points in mind, and I'm certainly going to be drinking more water.

So, I read everything everybody said and just imagine the encouraging and congratulatory and friendly things I said, k? I have a party tonight at my house, go to go pick up the cake and some chips (incl some baked chips for me) and cups and plates. Have a big fruit platter and a big veggie platter from CostCo. So that will help mitigate the junk and munchies hopefully. Going to play games, so that could help keep my hands and my mind off the junkie.

This past weekend I ate close to program and yet "gained" four pounds. What I am realizing now (since all the "gained weight" came off in one day of strict OP) is that the salt in restaurant food really does me in. I have two choices: 1.eat much less restaurant food or 2.not weigh myself at the end of a weekend with lots of social activities. I am thrilled that the artificial weight gain is gone, but that still doesn't get me closer to weight loss. What I decided to do today is to keep on Flex, but use Core foods. I know this will result in a weight loss. Those of you who have been in this group for a while know that I keep mentioning Core, but I didn't have the gumption to do it. I didn't want to give up the breads and treats that aren't on the Core list. However today things clicked into place and I'll give this a try. Wish me luck.

:bravo: and :cool: to all of us who are trying hard during this holiday season.

Judy: Thanks for the encouragement. I cannot honestly tell you I even tracked points last week. I had another bout with insomnia that knocked me to my knees. I have hypothyroidism, and I have yet to find a medicine whose side-effects I can tolerate, so any significant sleep deprivation starts a cascading effect that leaves me useless. After even one night of decreased sleep, I end up "too tired" to workout, which makes it harder to sleep that night, and it kicks off a cycle. My new strategy when I feel that wiped is to go to a nearby park for a walk; it's about a 1-hour loop, fairly well lit and densely populated. Walking is a low-intensity exercise, and it did help me sleep.

I feel better this week, and I am endeavoring to get back on track and stay on track with my exercise, which helps me sleep. Sleeping better makes it easier to resist temptation.

You ladies may remember that tracking points is my biggest weakness. Well, I've tracked consistently for two days...not much, but it's a start. I did spin class tonight too. So. Getting there. :D

Judy, I am glad to hear the temporary gain went away. Restaurant food is AMAZINGLY high in salt. I bet you if you could find a vegan or vegetarian place, the results might be better. Just a thought. At any rate, I've heard good things about doing flex with core foods, and I wish you the best of luck. You have a good attitude and a sound approach, developing strategies and focusing on moving forward. :D

Judy - Hoping your flex with core foods works for you. Sometimes changing things up really help. Bread is also one of my weaknesses, but if you make allowances for it, it should not be a problem.

Ariana - Good job on your tracking. That really makes a difference for me.
I keep my food journal with me all the time & have no problem with it.
It has become one of my "good habits".

As for myself, I think I have done well this week. I ordered salmon on my night out with my ladies group, and skipped the bread basket & dessert.
Hoping for a weight loss tonight at Tops.

Hope all the rest of you turtles are doing great!

I did fine this week and turned around my gains. I lost 1.2# even though it was the weekend of my dh's :hb: Now I need to keep this going and get to where I want to be, one pound at a time.

All: Well, I am on day 3 of tracking. I had a bad night last night, my humidifier sounds like a jet engine, I tried to sleep without it for one night. Bad idea. Woke up every hour. Too wiped for the gym, but I walked for an hour at the park tonight. I can barely keep my eyes open now. Going to take a shower and go to sleep I am EXHAUSTED. Take care ladies. Be well.

Hello, turtles -- just a quickie here. Big applause for doing so well, tracking, watching points, doing that exercise! Bandit -- the biggest loser, good for you!

I hit Onederland a couple of weeks ago, which felt so good. It's been too long. Still chugging along on my plan. Haven't yet incorporated exercise, which is the next big step. My foot seems to finally be mending, so I'm hoping to start up soon. Not sure why i find it so hard to get motivated there; I always feel better when I move.

Your scale is going in the right direction and I am so happy for you. Just as I was going to get back on the :tread:, I hurt my left knee and am not considering any exercise right now. When I heal, I'll give it a try again. Are you able to do arm exercises while your foot heals? Thanks for chiming in and giving us encouragement and an update.

Ariana, I'm sending you :goodvibes: for some sleep! You're doing great.

Morning all and happy Saturday! Not too much is new with me, the job is going OK, not great but ok. As for my weight loss, well now that is just a sad story all together, last week I just did not do well. But, today is the start of a new week and I am going to head to the grocery store today and get stocked up on point friendly foods and get my butt in gear. I think it would help everything if I could just get myself mentally back on track with the eating and get some walks in.

I have to get caught up on everyone posts, sorry I have been so out of it lately, but I have high hopes for the future!

Ladies: Well, my hit was hurting quite a bit, so I didn't work out Thursday. That makes only 2 times for the week. But I have been tracking since Monday morning, and ::Gasp:: I'm into Saturday and still tracking. Usually I concede defeat by Friday evening. :o I even managed to stay pretty much on point yesterday. I went out to a "desert parlor" and had a piece of pie. I couldn't find it in the points book, but a 3 inch square piece of cake is 12 points, and this thing was 3" sq, so I'm hoping that was close enough. Anyway, I had 25 points for te day under the Wendy plan, and I managed to save those 12 for the end of the day and desert. My only concern is that I may have accrued another 2 unrecorded points for BLT's (Bites Licks and Tastes"), but it's still a remarkable thing for me, tracking points until a Friday night and saving 12 points for the big piece of pie. Normally I would have exhausted all of my points and had the pie anyway. So, making progress! :) Having 36 points today on the Wendie plan, it's my Super High Day (whee!) but I'm going to try to save most of my points for a dinner and movie date. I'll also try to drink my required water today, which I haven't been stellar at thus far. Also, I'm going to tick those BLT's -- I guess the program says we get 5 freebies, so I'll do it that way)

Wish me luck ladies. Saturdays are dangerous for me. But I think I just might make it. :D

Lauren: congrats again on hitting onederland. :) :) :) Glad to hear your foot is mending. When it comes to exercise, start small and give yourself credit for any exercise you can do. Building a habit is as important, if not more important than the exercise itself. Once it's a habit, you'll probably finding yourself automatically challenging yourself and getting better and stronger. If you have a place to walk, go for it. If you feel that's too easy, and you have a local Curves, they're a great intermediary between working out at home and a gym. You can do it!

Bandit: Thanks, I'm working on the tracking. :) It's hard, but I'm doing it. Kudos on the swimming and good luck on the bingo. :) Congrats on being a "Consecutive Loser" too! :D

Ariana - fabulous job on the tracking. Good for you - all your effort will really pay off & I find just writing things down keeps me focussed and when I have things I really shouldn't at least I am aware of it. If I have a bad week (which we all do at times) I can look back and pinpoint the problem.

Princess - nice to see you back with us and hoping your job gets better for you. You have done great in the past & and sure you can get back on track and inspire us all again.

Judy - hope you are having a nice weekend.

We didn't win at bingo but was nice going with my mom and catching up on the week. Went to singles dance last night with neighbours and that was fun. There were alot of couples there, which I found strange but we still danced lots. And there was a hot buffet at 11 that I passed up. Figured I was having lots of points with the coolers I didn't need to eat as well. Overall, a fun night.

Today I am looking through recipes & will make chicken later for dinner. Want to make some soup to go with my lunches since it is getting cold up here.

Ladies: Well, I made it all the way to Sunday at bedtime with counting points. I haven't been able to do that in months. I even managed to eat out 3x this weekend and count points. :) But I crashed and burned a bit today. Woke up feeling awful, the side-effects of the flu shot I think. Could barely eat. Finally regained my appetite a bit by lunch. Ended up eating Church's chicken (junk! junk! junk!) for lunch. Then I kept munching. Lots of stress at work too. But I am going to forgive myself because I was sick. My resistance was really low. I could barely think. Starting over again tomorrow. I made it through this weekend very well, so I am quite proud of that. Back on the horse, as they say. :)

Hey, I've gotta run, but I was away all weekend--turned out my "unplanned" weekend got planned because my ds upstate needed me to help out. Very complicated, but I was stressed out and lost my appetite for probably the first time in my life. Egads. In any case, lots of work and helping out plus little food (and very good choices) seems to have led to a weight loss. I'm weighing in tomorrow so I'll let you know.

Judy, I'm sorry you had a stressful weekend, but congrats on eating right! Hope you're rewarded with a loss, but even if you aren't, I know weekends are tough for you so you should pat yourself on the back.

Ariana, way to go on tracking for a whole week! I know what a big accomplishment that is. For some reason, I have sometimes gone off the wagon after a big success, too. I don't really know why that is. Good for you, getting remotivated. That's what it's all about, isn't it? You just keep picking yourself back up, the sooner the better.

Thanks for the exercise encouragement. About Curves ... the sad thing is that I've had a membership there for the past year and have barely used it! I was going regularly until I hurt my foot, then returned briefly and tore my rotator cuff. Soooo ... I haven't been back in months. I keep meaning to try again and see what happens. Maybe I'll break a hip! (Just kidding)

Bandit, you're doing great! I'm so impressed with how you handle social events.

Not much new to report here. I've found myself eating a teensy bit more lately, usually in the form of fruit. Sounds innocuous enough, but the weight loss has slowed as a result. So I'm cutting back again. I really have to watch myself like a hawk, or the portions creep back up.

Had to go buy a new winter coat because the old one is just too big now. Nice problem to have, but I was reluctant to buy the new one because I'm hoping it won't fit next year. I checked out the thrift stores, but nada. And then it snowed. So I caved in and bought a new coat -- long and wool. It's cold up here in Michigan!

Getting cold up here - had to break down & wear my winter jacket this past week.

I am hoping to not have a gain this week. Thought I was doing good, but I guess overdid the alcohol Sat night since the scale showed a gain Mon a.m.
I have been on track since & hoping to at least stay the same. But, will see later.

What's on everyone's menu? Tomorrow we are having crab cakes and garbanzo bean salad & of course, wine.

Last night I made the "mashed cauliflower" and it was good. Added some cheese & that made it quite tasty.

I came back from my weekend, weighed in this morning and was down 3#. I can't ever in recent memory think of a time when I lost 3# in a week. Shows what eating less and working more can do. LOL. I am thrilled and now my challenge is to eat correctly and not too much. Gotta run because I've got a lot of catching up here to do what with Christmas and Thanksgiving coming up so fast. Take it easy, be well, and keep on drinking your water!

Ladies: Good evening, everyone. It seems that we have entered "Work the Engineers to Death" season at my company. I have 5 projects that must get done by the end of the year, along with 2 more that ought to get done by the end of the year. I am trying to limit it to 10 hours of OT a week. What I desperately want is my long, planned Xmas vacation. I'm afraid they'll ask me to cut it to the company-offered 2 days, and nothing more, so that I can stay and work and finish everything. So I am going to see if I can get it all done before Xmas and sweet-talk them into letting me take the whole thing. They do this to us every year, I'm just unlucky enough to be on one of the mission critical year-end projects. Why can't they have project deadlines after the holidays? Sheesh.

Anyway. Because of the instant and mountainous pressure, working out is not going so well. I've revised my aim to 2x a week -- step class, my favorite. But I'm going to keep tracking. Even if I have to go over, I'll still track. I weighed-in today, and I'm down 1 point. I'm now 3 pounds below max, which means I'm doing ok. :) Tracked through yesterday and today, so I'm on track with that. Went to the gym to do step but I had to stop after 30 minutes, I got dizzy. I think I need to eat a little more shortly before I workout, maybe 1 more point of cheese or a piece of fruit.

Anyway, time to eat dinner. Going to try and go to sleep early so that I can go into work early and get stuff done before everyone starts swinging by with questions and other "must-do's".

Lauren: Thanks for the encouragement. :) I know I can pick myself up and get going again. I think the problem was that I was quite sick, and couldn't really think straight. I was barely functioning, much less counting points. I should have gone home and gone to bed. Anyway, you should try Curves again. That's how I did it -- after ten years of not working out with any regularity -- 10 YEARS, I started doing Curves 3x a week. After a year of that, I moved on to Bally's. Curves is an excellent place to get in the habit.

Bandit: good luck with your weigh-in. Cauliflower is gross. But mashed? With cheese. Perhaps. I'm eating my usual stuff, reheated pizza, grill cheese, PB & J. I have had very little time to cook lately, so I'm keeping everything very simple.

Judy: Big congrats on your weigh-in! That is awesome!

This is from a 10-year-plus lifetime member who goes to my meetings. We were totaling the points involved in thanksgiving dinner, and we found out that pumpkin pie is like 9 points. ::eek:: She mentioned this recipe and emailed it to me tonight. I thought I would share it with you.

Points 2
Servings 12

1 large egg
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp gounds ginger
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
15 oz canned pumpkin
3/4 cup fat-free evaporated milk
1 average pie crust, 9 inch, unbaked (I use a store bought graham cracker crust

1. Preheat oven to 425. In a large bowl, lightly beat eff. Stir in sugar, salt, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger and nutmet. Add pumpkin and evaporated milk. Stir until well combined. Pour into pie shell.

2. Back for 15 minutes. REduce heat to 350 and bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean--about 50 minutes. Cool 1 hour before serving.

Ariana, :goodvibes: for all your work and staying stress free. You're doing great and I'm so happy you're back and posting. Weigh to go on tracking your points. Like you, when I track (even if I eat more than I intended) I've been doing this program for so long that the extra points are fine--as long as I track them and don't let my negative thinking get in the way. "Oh, I've blown it, might as well eat as much as I want, etc. etc." You all know the dialog.
In any case, I'm doing fine. Really pushed myself yesterday and got grocery shopping and Christmas shopping and today I'm going to start to organize some gifts and wrap them. That'll give me some inner peace and get me in the holiday mood.
I'm sending :goodvibes: to all and letting you know I'm very thankful tohave found you here on www.3fatchicks!

Morning all and happy Thursday! Well not much is new here, I really need to go and sign up at WW again, doing this alone it just not working... I am thinking of going on Saturday to sign up and see how it goes. If my job does not last here then I can always cancel again.

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well but also handling stressful situtations... tis the season I fear.

Ariana - Good job on tracking, really helps. Hope you get your "work stress" under control - sounds like you good use a nice winter break.
Try the cauliflower - it is good. Worse that can happen is you throw it out OR you could have another healthy meal option to choose from.

Princess - nice to see you chiming in and hope your work turns out better for you. And yes, if you are struggling you should get back to some structured programme. Did you ever check out TOPS in your area? So much cheaper than WW and no products being pushed on you.

For me, had my Tops meeting last night and was Biggest Loser for last week with my 3.25 loss & was down .75# this week. But didn't win the Halloween contest - they said a few of us were close, but got beat out. But was fun anyway. So am down a total of 15.75# since starting - can't complain about that.

Had to shovel this a.m. before work - got quite abit of snow. But drove in with another co-worker which is nice for me.

Anyway, have a great OP day and "eat healthy snacks"

Morning all and happy Friday! It is cold here today, but the snow is all up north and for that I am very thankful, I am not ready to tackle that yet... LOL.

Bandit: There are TOPS in the area, none very close to home and none have Saturday meetings and with my new job going on a weekday would be hard. I am thinking about WW this Saturday, I have to do something...

Ariana: How are you doing? Sorry to hear about the pressure at work, I know how you feel though.

Ladies: Good evening. :) I completely forgot to mention that when I weighed in Wednesday, I was down 1 pound from my last WI. That made me quite happy. :) I am now about 3 pounds below goal, which is great. My cutting back on workouts for work and other issues is making me feel really uncomfortably out of shape. I've lost a lot muscle tone. I'm thinking about accepting that I will have to work weekends until Xmas, and work out during the week. I think I need the working out to beat the stress. I could compromise on working out for an hour a day and then going home and working for another hour. <shrug> Or maybe I could just do the elliptical for 30 minutes. Better than nothing.

And even though I have to give up most of my weekends right now, I get so much more work done when I'm alone. So if I can work enough weekends to get this stuff done before Xmas, well. It will be worth it. I still have to fit Xmas shopping in there somewhere, and I have several blankets to finish before Xmas (they're gifts.) So there will have to breaks in there somewhere.

Judy: Thanks for the kudos. :) I'm happy to be back. I've been posting at night, and it helps keep me on track and actually gives me a chance to post. Before I'd been posting at work, and my lunch is always getting eaten up by work. I can't say I am stress free, but I am trying to keep it all under control. :) I agree. Tracking makes a big difference. It keeps away the denial about what we're eating. You are done with your Xmas shopping? Wow! I'm impressed. I'm behind this year. ::sigh:: But getting there. Re being grateful to have found us: we're grateful to have you, Judy! ;)

Bandit: Thanks for the good wishes. The work stress is very rough. But if I can just get to my Xmas holiday... Congrats on your WL! :D

Princess: good to hear from you. :) I am under a tremendous amount of pressure at work. But I am counting points, and doing everything I can to survive deadline season at my company.

Ladies i just wanted you to know i haven't just completly abandoned you.:o I just found out that i am 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and my focus kinda changed.:carrot: I know though that despite cravings i really need to stay healthy for the baby. Being over weight and pregnant really can cause complications. Anyway I wanted to let you know why i have been MIA.

WW is so good for me. My WW leader mentioned taking care of ourselves, getting ahead with the holidays a step at a time (she has her cards done and is waiting to mail them--egads!). Well, I took her advice, kinda pushed myself--okay really pushed myself--this week, shopped online for a lot of stuff, wrapped the presents I have in the house, and now I feel I can breathe again. I'm not finished, but I've got myself in a good spot. It's a good thing because today the kids need me to pick up my grandson from his pre-K class. I like to be helpful, but I've got to take care of myself and remember my dh in this mix! Of course, I'm retired so that puts my time parameters in a whole other category than most of you. I'm sending you all :goodvibes: to get through these holidays in comfort.

Ariana, you sure have a heavy work schedule right now! Congrats on your
:goodscale:. For me tracking is the key and it seems like it is for you too. Is working on those blankets still as relaxing as you've found that in the past?
I remember how you like to quilt and it's so good for you.

Bandit, I love cauliflower and zipping it up with some lowfat cheese sounds good. I bet I wouldn't need protein if I made a cauliflower casserole dish. It's worth trying. Let me congratulate you on your wonderful :goodscale:.

Princess, I think WW's is a great idea for you now that you found a job so quickly. You've had great accomplishments in weight loss :goodscale: and I know how important it is to you to keep on losing till you reach goal. You can do this. We're here to help and so is WW's.

Lauren, I'm so glad you're back and chiming in. Any good suggestions from your food plan? I know you mentioned the amounts of food are smaller. How do you keep hunger away and what specifically do you do? :bravo: again on getting your weight under control, getting into onederland, and keepin' on keepin' on!!! :cheer:

Morning all and happy Tuesday. Just getting ready for Thanksgiving here, not a lot is new. I went to WW on Saturday morning and got restarted... the W/I was horrible, way way way up on the scale... but I am restarted and ready to get back on the wagon. I am doing pretty well with food so far this week. Have not gotten any exercise in and to be honest I really don't expect to with the holiday, company, errands, cooking, etc.

Judy: You are doing so well! Keep at it, I feel the same way about being prepared to lower stress in the up coming weeks so I will be doing things as they need doing and not putting them off, hopefully that will help.

Bandit: You are doing so good! I am thrilled for you!

Ariana: Have a great time with your family over the holiday!

Cherry: Congrats and don't stress!

I had a great WI this morning. Last week I lost three pounds because, quite frankly, I had tremendous stress and little appetite. My concern this week was that I would put back that weight, so I worked really hard. I lost another .8# and I'm so happy. Now I have to focus on eating well tomorrow and Friday and then tracking throughout this upcoming week. I think I can lose another half pound or even better this week if I keep tracking my points and eat Core food choices.

All goes well here. I had a lovely day yesterday even though our gathering was small. Today my aim is to have a turkey sandwich and then forget about the other leftovers. I am also going to step up my water intake because that makes me feel healthy.
