I have been doing low carb for about 2 weeks and I am totally afraid to get on the scales. If I get on them and havent lost enough im afraid I will be discouraged and just throw in the towel. How do you guys handle this?
Thanks in advance. Kim

Simple don't get on the scale! really if you feel it will discourage you wait a month then, if you feel like, get on it. pay attention more to your clothing if they start getting looser then you are doing good.
also remember eating healthier and exercising(if you are doing that) in no way can cause harm. so if the scale doesn't budge so what your insides are jumping for joy!

I try to take disappointing weeks in stride, knowing that the weight will come off later (like they say on the biggest loser- the scale owes me!). Then again, I'm a calorie counter, and I can think that way since it's definitely a numbers game.

I threw my home scale away. I was driving myself crazy weighing myself all of the time. I work in a hospital and I weigh myself once a week. For about a week the scale didn't budge from 260 but I kept taking it one day at a time. I didn't know for a while if I was gaining weight back or still losing. So I waited a week from the last time I weighed myself and got back on the scale and I had lost weight. Even now when I get on the scale to weigh myself and I am kinda scared. The most I have ever gained back so far was 2 pounds and that went away in a few days. If you are doing a low carb diet plan, be sure that you are eating enough veggies because that will help you tremendously. I was doing the low carb plan a few years ago (for the 2nd time), eating a lot of meat and I began getting pains in my side and was constipated alot. Once I cut down on eating meat, the pains stop. I started doing a modified low carb/high protein plan again this summer but I eat alot more veggies, some fruit and very little meat. I found that I began losing much weight more quickly and am not constipated this time.

I say - GET ON THE SCALE!.
Scales aren't a bad thing, they let you know your progress, or, if you need to be doing something different. :)

What's "enough?" What happens if it's not "enough?"
The point is, regardless of what the scale says, you have been making choices in favor of your health for 2 weeks! That makes you a different person than you were 2 weeks ago. Regardless of what the scale says, you'll evaluate and keep going :carrot:
