I sure need my coffee this morning to get a busy day cranked up. I thought I had everything for the funeral in control until I looked at the list I made last week! It's a good thing I woke up early this morning!
Busy day yesterday but I now have a new exhaust system on my car and have all the government and legal wheels in motion to settle H's estate. It looks like he never got around to changing the beneficiary on his insurance to his girlfriend. Just kidding! I'm done with paperwork until next week now and it was good to get that done and my desk cleared.
So today will be spent tidying my house maybe getting some of the leaves raked. I need to finish some cutting back in the garden beside the walk and absolutely must do that this morning as we are expecting SNOW!!! later today. It's too early and I know it will melt but is still a nuisance.
How does your day look from this early perspective?

Good morning Ruth! It's so good to see you. How about a cup of Fogbuster -if it doesn't do the trick nothing will ;) Sounds like you have the usual busy day planned.
We have snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow too. It better not because I don't have my snows on this early and I'm not in the mood to slide around. Now I start the annual game of figuring out when to change tires. Always an adventure, but I hate to switch too early. The studs are so noisy.
Nothing special here today. I'll be in the office catching up all day again. I had a great day back on plan yesterday. Most of my food was perfect and I exercised for a full hour. Now for day 2!
More coffee for me now :coffee2: Have a good day wherever you are!

Good Morning Ruth, Sounds like a busy day. When is the funeral? We already had a bit of snow, which melted that same day. I need to see if I can get Joe over to trim some of the brush for me today. He called me at work yesterday to make small talk! GRRR. As for the raking, Sunday I took the mower/mulcher too the leaves to turn to mulch. I have VERY sandy soil and need all the mulch I can get!, ok, perhaps it needs soil not mulch, but hey, it helps!
Another LONG day at work. I'm not even sure why they thought they needed someone for this, they HAVE a collections girl. But then, seeing how she works......
Anyway, Cody seems to be learning fast. Already knows sit, still working on it but he seems to have grasped the idea already! And when we are on walks I have Jade sit and have been teaching him to do so as well when cars come (it's country road and they fly by like it's a race track). He sees a car and sits, (but as it goes by he attempts to chase it!)

 Cyndi, simu posting! Why not use all seasonal tires? I use them and they work fine for me in the snow!

:coffee: Well, I'm glad my day isn't looking like yours, RUTH! :dizzy: I hope you got a good night's sleep last night to get through today!
I spent a good bit of the afternoon at Sears automotive, getting a new battery installed. As it worked out, I had to go pick up Audrey early since she wasn't feeling well, so I had both girls with me. (Funny, Audrey perked right up once she was home! I think her math test was a big factor.) So while we were at the mall, we returned our library books and bought Audrey new tennis shoes. We had just enough time to pick up groceries before I dropped Audrey off at Cotillion, too.
It's raining like mad this morning, and raw! I think Maggie and I are going to make gingerbread this afternoon. I don't like it, so it won't be a temptation for me. ;)
I think I'll put on a big pot of vegetable soup after I get back from Curves, it's a nice day for it.

Lori, the funeral is Thursday here in the village in our wee Church. I wish it was over with now but cremation takes a while, the funeral director was booked and my minister was away at a conference.
Cyndi, I always hold off on my tires until November 11 but may jump the gun this year if we get more snow soon. IMHO "all seasons" are just not OK in our driving conditions - I do lots of back road stuff.

Loriann - I drive an Echo - great mileage but really light. I actually started switching in the winter when I had a Pathfinder and it went sliding back and forth across the highway. I'd be happy not to do that again! With a 30 mile commute each way I just need to stay on the road :)
Cottage - I love gingerbread! :kickbutt: Hope you stay dry and warm today.
Ruth - Same here with the back roads. Of course the main roads with all the skiers are even scarier!

Cyndi, I had a lincoln Town car that was all over the road just with puddles, but I'm so proud to say my Buick Century has traction control which is something that will be must haves in all my future cars. When I hit a puddle, or patch of ice, I go right over it. Of course sometimes it scares me as I forget for a split second that the other three or two wheels pick up the lack of traction for the wheel that hit the ice or puddle! I've had this car since 2004 and not one incident yet with it!

Morning ladies!
Ruth - bless your heart....Thursday?!? Good luck getting everything done. I hope you have lots of help!
Cottage - amazing how going home makes them feel better, huh? (and I wouldn't go to curves either - it is a YUCKY day outthere!!!)
Cyndi - congrats on the good days! Here's to more!
Lori - A golden is one of the breeds I'd love to get when we're ready for a pup...we'll see what's in store for us!
Me - boring day, I hope! Went 7.25 mi run (well, jog!) yesterday, and I...am....sore!! Actually, much better than I thought I'd be. So, I'll let my body rest today. Tonight is the halloween parade for the kids (they get to walk in it) which will be a blast...if it doesn't snow!
Have a warm day, all!

Good morning everyone,
Ruth- glad to hear that you have everything almost ready for the Funeral.
Cottage- bundle up and get out the door- you will feel better after working out.
Cyndi- You remind of when I lived up in Maine- that was some scary driving sometimes in the Winter.
Lori- Glad to hear that Cody is training so well. FYI, Cody was my favorite of our babies- a black Lab we had up in Maine.
As for me- at work today- still battling with getting rid of Blazer and finding DS something to drive- we are getting the 66 mustang fixed but now DH is being a pain will not let DS drive all the time. What is the problem  not willing to let go of his youth, whatever. Don't get me started with him, not very happy with the things he has been doing lately. choices why do they have to be bad ones. Ok enough negative
Have a great day everyone-
Good morning all- fairly quick post this morning, nice there are only a few of you here already! lol
Ruth- Glad to see you in good spirits(girlfriend! ha!)- enjoy your day.
Cottage- get to curves! and since you don't eat it you can send some gingerbread my way!
Lori- I love an obedient puppy!
Twynn-congrats on your run! thats awesome!
Cyndi- wtg on having a good day op! Wish I would've known that bean flour wasn't permitted the first two weeks. ugh. oh well, at least I wasn't intentionally cheating!
Pearl- simuposting!- so :wave::hug:
As for me I have meetings at work. We usually do quarterly... and it means sit for 3 hours and accomplish nothing, or think you accomplish something but then there is never a followthru... ugh.
I have an hour gap between meetings too and I think I may run to the mall and check out the halloween store. I also need to get my insurance updated in HR- still haven't done that since the wedding...
Also want to see about putting something on for dinner in the crock pot if I have time this morning... maybe some veggie soup or something.
Walmart for regular groceries this afternoon- I have already been to all the specialty stores now for my canned tomatoes and other weekly goods :)

Ruth - good to see you doing relatively well. Have fun playing in the snow :)
Cyndi - Morning!
Cottage - *kicks butt* get to curves, girl!
Lori - we have a cx-7 with AWD...it is awesome for down here when we get torrential rains, but even better when we drive up to MN during the winter. Morning!
Twynn - Congrats on your run. Have fun at the Halloween parade!
Pearl - I hope you find someone to take the blazer off of your hands soon.
Rikki - Morning! Have fun at the Halloween store.
-
Not much today. My mom comes in tomorrow, so I'm going to be trying to get as much of the unpacked stuff organized as possible. I just don't have a lot of energy right now...maybe I'll increase my B vitamins a little and see what that does. The TV in our bedroom went out this morning - DS is going to be upset as that is where is was allowed to watch cartoons. It was pretty old, though.
Laundry laundry laundry! I also have folding, sorting and putting away to do of the clothes that arrived here in laundry baskets. Our closets are a bit smaller and I'm not quite sure what to do with all of the clothes...

Okay, I went to Curves, yeay for me! I'm glad I went, we had quite a few laughs this morning. I always have a good time there, it's just getting there that I need help with. ;)
RIKKI, your DH is from West Chester? That's very, very close to me!
GONNA, hope you get your Shred in today!
TWYNN, I bet your kids are excited about the parade tonight! I hope it doesn't get canceled. I heard the Poconos are getting several inches right now.
PEARLROSE, I hope you get things smoothed over with your DH today!
Morning, ZEFF! One way to solve your extra clothes problems is to get some of those under-the-bed storage drawers with the wheels on them. They're easy to pull out when you want them, and are out of sight when you don't. How long is your mother staying? I bet you're looking forward to her visit!

Good morning ladies.....Lots of you are hear early and I'm running late, so this will be a quickee. But I do have a few personals to get to.
Ruth - So glad to see you here this morning. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Lisa - Congrats on reaching your goal! That's fantastic!!!
Cottage - Great job getting to Curves today. I feel your pain about not wanting to go this morning.
Me - So I really struggled to get up and out this morning. But I did, yet when I tried to get the on-demand working, it flopped. I couldn't turn the channel on, so despite totally talking myself into exercise this morning, I had to let it go because my programs wouldn't work. Kind of a bummer. Had a great time at my friends yesterday cooking, but I wasn't the greatest at staying away from the cookies. I find myself lacking motivation and will power these days. I'm thinking I need a clean phase 1 in the next couple of weeks to reboot my thinking. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of weeks that would be condusive to a phase 1. I have to really think about it.
Laundry and a chiropractic appointment tonight. But other than that, it should be quiet.
Have a lovely Tuesday, ladies!!
BLESSINGS!!!!

Thanks! Only took me 4 years..... talk about yo-yo dieter. I'm good to go now, though! Even motivated to work out 4 days a week. Weird. I've found that the elliptical is not near as excruciating when you have a magazine to read while you're on it. I did 5 minutes more than I intended to last night because I was so caught up in my magazine.
Well, bathroom is open again! Gotta sneak in and get my makeup on! Have a good one!

Lisa - Congrats! That is awesome news!! :cheer2:
Me - I have totally let my gym routine go. I was going 5 mornings a week!! Now I am down to NOTHING! I want to go, except at 5am when it is dark and cold, I just can't get myself out of bed to take the 5 minute walk to the gym. It is at the end of our block... so no excuses. I actually miss it too!! I'll give it another try in the morning! :woops:
I need to start my Christmas shopping. Every year I say I want to be done by Thanksgiving, maybe this year I'll hit my goal. I need to start though!
I bought tickets to the Circus yesterday. Holy cow are they expensive! We went last year and the kids loved it. DS asked if we could go again this year, DH said yes. So I paid $100 for 4 tickets. That was after all the crazy fees. We go 11/16. The kids are going to be so excited!!
Busy day of running around today. Talk to you soon!

Cottage - I guess I should have mentioned that we have underbed boxes already...I think we just have too many clothes. DH is as bad as I am; at our old house, he had an entire walk-in just for his stuff.
We have been sorting and giving away though.
Jenny - Could you buy them at the actual venue rather than going through ticketmaster or something similar? I bought Sesame Street Live tickets and through ticket master, after all the applicable fees they came out to $23 a piece - through the venue, they were $16 each.

Probably, but the venue is about an hour away, so this time that isn't an option. I found a coupon code online and saved $5 per ticket. The tickets were $24 before fees, so I saved $20 just by using the coupon code. Which brings up an interesting point. ANYTIME I buy anything online I google the name of the website plus coupon code... I have saved SO MUCH money this way! Sometimes it is free shipping, or 10% off, or money off tickets, etc. Keep it in mind, if you don't already do this!
So I am hooked on that crockpot site. I saw this and wanted to share since a lot of us have a love of pumpkin spice lattes.
http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/10/crockpot-pumpkin-spice-latte-recipe.html
Zeff - I wanted to comment on the lack of space. Can you pack away seasonal clothes? It gets really cold here, so we have clothing for every season. I typically pack away shorts/shirts or sweaters/sweatshirts to free up closet space. Not sure if you have extra storage space.
Hi Ladies Its My Moo's Law Day (Our nickname for Moms dog Murphy) I dropped 1/2 a jar of peanuts all over my cube. . .within 5 minutes DH called to say the kitten had an incident with a serving bowl Crash! I had to laugh So I'm off to bond with Martha Stewart for a few Minutes BUt I wanted to stop in!

good afternoon everyone,
Glad to see everyone posting and doing well.
Had a very hectic few days. On Sunday around midnight DH started having terrible stomach pains and they weren't subsiding. After about 1 1/2 hrs he agreed to go to hospital. Now this also happened a few times 2006 and after a series of ct and ultrasounds nothing was found. So yesterday after almost 14hrs in Emergency (with no sleep) all the tests where done again and they found he gallbladder disease. He saw the surgeon this morning and surgery is scheduled for Dec. 8th after he sees his cardiologist. Nothing is simple when you've had bypass and are on blood thinners. How was it missed the first time?
Grateful its not something more serious. A young man was brought in that didn't make it (I don't know if it was a car accident or what. But when the mother came to the hospital, her crying and screaming was heart breaking). I started to cry too. So always kiss and hug your loved ones every day.

Hey, look who's home from work early today (and tomorrow....) Little Guy has strep throat. Sigh. Poor kid can't get a break! So I'm taking sick time from work for when Tom's in class.
So, we're watching Curious George, he's eating a sandwich and banana, and I'm about to start itemizing the 2 huge garbage bags of clothes that I don't fit into anymore that I'm giving to Salvation Army. I didn't realize that you have to put your own value to the items you donate (except cars.) Fortunately, I found Salvation Army's Valuation Guide online to help me. Whew. I get nervous whenever the IRS is involved. I just want to do things right!
Well, back to itemizing. Hope everyone's having a good day.
Hey Zeff, I just went through all our clothes like crazy over the weekend. We bought the $18 3-drawer plastic organizers from Walmart and put them on the floor in the closets to help organize, and got a hanging shoe rack to put on the inside of the closet door to help make room. I don't know if that helps or not, but that's what we did, plus I am getting rid of the majority of my clothes and "letting go." Hope you figure something out!
Kier, I have a Moo's Law Day at least twice a week. Hope it gets better for you sister!
I'll pop in later!

Jen - Going through and separating seasonal clothes is what I have been doing all morning. We went from having three walk-in closets to two quite small closets. My in-laws have a guest house that they use for storage so we may be able to pack away some of our rarely used stuff there.
btw, I so love the 365 crockpotting blog. I wanted to do something like that this past year but never got around to it.
Weezle - *sheepish* I bought one of those too. I thought it would hold a lot more than it does. Also, I'm horrible about ever throwing shoes away - so I have a ton to go through. I've committed myself to two shoe racks. Someone is going to be getting a nice donation.
two shoe racks?! You girls are crazy getting rid of all of those shoes- I thought I was being good when I made myself get down to 100 pairs... I am pretty sure I am back up to at least 115... dh was looking in the room I keep all my shoes in and opened a cabinet and was like " you've got to be kidding me- you have shoes in here too!!!" LMAO, so its my addiction ;)

Rikki - ok, so two shoe racks with shoes that I don't wear all the time. We have an "everyday shoe rack" by the back door with about 25 pairs on it :)
Also, I'm about to post a thanksgiving recipe that might interest you. Check Phase 2 entrees.

Oh geez, you girls and your shoes! I fit almost all of mine on the 1 shoe rack. I have 1 pair that I wear almost daily, and 3 pairs of boots that don't fit on it. So, I guess that means I have.... 20 pairs of shoes. Tom thinks that's ridiculous. I used to have a LOT more back when I sold shoes. 40% discounts are killer.
But, I probably spend as much in a year on lip gloss as you girls do on shoes, so I can't talk. I suppose I am a bit ridiculous.

Something really odd happened when we were moving....a lot of my shoes went missing...I have one of about 8 pairs of shoes. What am I supposed to do with one shoe? I have to save them in case the others pop up. I'm also missing my favorite born sandals. :(
weezle
10-28-2008, 06:18 PM
Oh no! How'd that happen? :( That's so sad.
I LOVE Born sandals. They're so comfy. I used to sell those, as well as Birkenstocks, Doc Martens, Eccos, Timberlands, Mias, Solomons, as well as assorted skater type shoes (Adidas, Vans, etc.) Of course, that was my first retail job, lots of years ago.... I do still have some of the Solomons and Birks from that long ago.
I hope you find your mismatches. Is there a box somewhere that hasn't been opened yet?
zeffryn
10-28-2008, 07:44 PM
Not that I know of :(
I love my birkenstock sandals but feel really crunchy in them....they are some of the only sandals that really help when I have bad sciatica - like now ;)

I had a pair of Birks (purple brushed leather 2-strap) for 10 years and would have kept them longer and had them re-soled, but Oscar got ahold of them and chewed them all up. I still have another pair that I like (gray suade 2-strap) but they aren't as broken in as the other pair I had. The old pair was PERFECTLY formed to my flat Flintstone feet. Sigh....
