Default Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I started dieting toward the middle/end of August. I was calorie counting but also doing Atkins level carbs just to jump start my weightloss for the first month or so. As of the end of September I've lost around 20 lbs! Once October hit, I started allowing myself to eat fruit--I'm still staying away from grains, sugar, and extra-starchy vegetables for now. I'm afraid that adding in more carbs will make me gain back water weight from the past month and a half so I'm scared to weigh myself now! Does anyone have any experience with this?

Anyhoo, I've been reading through this forum over the past few days and everyone seems really helpful and well-educated. I'm a recovering anorexic/bulimic--after rehab last summer I put on 60-70 lbs. in ONE year, so this time I'm trying to get back to a healthy range in a healthy way. I like this place because it puts an emphasis on feeding your body and not restricting too much--it's not triggering for me like some other sites.

Well, I just thought I'd say hi, so hi!

Hi. And welcome.

I did lo carb, lost some weight and then added in carbs and gained it all back. For me, lo carb just wasn't sustainable, long term. I don't like being told I am not allowed to have a certain group of foods. That is why I like counting calories. I can have a wide variety of nutritious and delicious foods. Nothing is forbidden.

If you really like your lo carb plan, may I suggest that you check out the threads in the lo carb sub forum? Someone there should be better able to answer your question than I.

And again, welcome.

I will first say that I have tried almost every diet plan know to woman. I have probably gained and lost my entire body weight over the past years on various diets. I know that for me counting calories is where I should be. If I am restricted to certain foods or from certain foods, I will not be able to stick to my quest for getting healthy. I am finally at a place in my life where I am ready to face the facts that life is too short to not live it to the fullest . I hope that you will find what you are looking for soon.
