Oh good! I kind of cheated with the 28 pound loss--had a baby, LOL! Most of it was fluid and baby, I think. I'm hypothyroid too, I take Levoxyl. My last TSH was 0.94 so I think I am doing ok! I'm hoping that after I lose more weight my thyroid function will improve on its own. Does that ever happen?

I'm going to the library this weekend to see if they have a different Leslie S. dvd to try.

Nice to meet ya, Liane!

I did the 2 mile Fat Burning Walk today -- those weights get me every time!

Here's to a healthier October!!!

Only 1 mile today -- I used the 15 min DVD that came with Leslie's WATP book. I went to see Josh Hoge in concert tonight (it's his CD release party) and it threw off my exercise schedule. It was AWESOME though.

Hope everyone had a good day! TGIF!

I tried a new dvd from the library--it was fun! I did the 3 mile but didn't use the waist belt thing. It was pretty tough without it.

How depressing about the thyroid. I don't like taking the pill in the morning, especially since it needs to be on an empty stomach, at the same time every day, and 1 hour before eating. I've been doing this for 2 years and it is a chore. Bleh. My dose was reduced by half a few months ago and it gave me hope that my thyroid function could possibly improve even more. :spin: Eh, we'll see I guess.

Oh, I have a question. Are you all engaging your ab muscles when doing these dvds? I try to but I get pretty tired. Do you think these dvds strengthen the core pretty well?

I did the 4 Big miles DVD with the Firm band for the first time today. It's a great work out -- I didn't realize that it included a little jogging in it. WHOOSH! LOL.

Liane - I've only been using the videos for about a week, so I'm not sure how well it strengthens the core. I figure we need to give it a few weeks to decide that. I'll let you know what I think by the end of this month.

good morning gang

I did 2 miles this morning. I used the new 5 Day Slim Down and did the first and last miles.

Zeta - CONGRATS on doing the whole 4 miles! awesome!

Liane - CONGRATS on the 2 miles! I engage the core muscles and I think it strengthens mine. Actually, for my size I think my core looks alright. I know that whenever I engage my arms with the walking I can feel it in my core.

hope everybody has a great :running: day

whoooohooo the mail just came and Leslie's new "Way Away your Hips & Thighs" with Fit Cuff is here!!!!

Did anybody else order it? Michele, did you?
For sure I'm gonna do the 2 mile walk tomorrow. Maybe I'll find time for the 21 minute lower body toning with fit cuff sometime this week.

Cathy -- let me know what you think of it! I just bought some of her older DVDs -- the Express ones, I think -- on ebay. I can't wait until they get here. I like to have some variety in my workouts.

I did the 3 mi Walk Away Your Waistline DVD with the belt. It was much easier this time than it was the first couple times. Gotta love that.

Hope everyone had a great day!

hey gang

I did 2 miles this morning. I used the new Walk Away Your Hips & Thighs.

Zeta - I loved the 2 mile walk. Haven't tried the 21 minute toning part yet but it looks good. I have to have variety too and so I have most of Leslie's dvds ;) I really love her Walk Slim System. It is probably her most intense walking. CONGRATS on doing 3 miles! Doesn't it feel good when a workout gets easier - it helps you know that it's making a difference! YOU GO GIRL!

Liane - CONGRATS on doing 3 miles plus more walking around the block! you are doing great!

Michele - did you get the new Hips & Thighs dvd too?

PurdueGirl - where are you? we miss you!

ShyMoment - where are you girlie? we miss you too! you're company is gone right? are you walking? I'd be shocked if you weren't. :dizzy:

Sorry I've been MIA again. I went to my state's Foreign Language conference last weekend and my kids are in a ZILLION activities, so I've been a little stressed lately. Tonight I'm sitting at Parent-Teacher conferences (I teach Spanish) and I have time to log in here! Gotta love technology--our parents don't come to conferences because they can see the grades online! Gues they don't want to TALK about their kids!

Cathy: I haven't ordered Hips and Thighs yet, but I plan to! Tell me what you think!?!?!?

No walking for me for almost 2 weeks. I need to just get my butt out of bed in the morning and DO IT!

Hi Ladies!

It's been a rough two days -- school is kicking my butt. I had a presentation, a skills practical, and a quiz yesterday -- so by the time I got home the only thing on my mind was sleep. I'm going to try to make up for it this weekend and next week. I'm doing the 50 mile challenge for the month of October in the Chicks Up for a Challenge forum. Right now I'm at 14/50 miles I think -- and I'm about to do a 3 mile WATP video. So I'm on my way! My schedule gets a little lighter after this week, so I think I can do it!

Thank God It's Friday, right ladies!?

Hey Ladies,

My times of the day are all messed up -- I had to work night shift Friday night, so I'm just getting my Saturday workout in at 3am! LOL. I'm trying to stay on this night schedule through the weekend because I have to work nights on Monday and Tuesday as well. I did the 3 mi WATP Walk Away Your Waistline DVD today -- it's my favorite right now, but I did it without the belt for a little change from the ordinary. It's still a good workout!

Here's to a relaxing Sunday!

Hiya ladies!

I tried the "You Can Do Pilates" DVD today. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. After watching the tutorial, I felt like I had the moves down pretty well -- esp. since I remember a lot of them from my college Pilates class (i was a kinesiology major for awhile -- it turned into a minor during the beginning of senior year). I was going to try to do the 1 mile walk strong DVD, but about 9 minutes into it I decided that I just couldn't do the strength training today. So I ended up doing the first 2 miles of the 4 big miles DVD.

I hope you ladies had a fabulous weekend!

This morning I did 2 miles. I used the Heart Healthy Walk.

Michele - I love the new Hip & Thigh dvd. I haven't had a chance to try the leg workout yet but it looks good.

hope everybody has a great :running: day!

Hiya People!

I just finished the first 3 miles in the Fast and Firm, 4 Really Big Miles DVD. Geez, I was tired by the time I got a quarter of the way through the 3rd mile. That boosted walking is KILLER! I look forward to this one getting easier over time.

I'm off to take a shower and head into work at 6p. Gotta love that night float!

I just got my Leslie Sansone 'Walk Away The Pounds' DVD yesterday! I got the 4 Mile Super Challenge. lol I'm laughing because I thought I would be able to do 4 miles from the start! At the end of two miles I couldn't take any more! I love the video. It really got my heart rate up and I broke a good sweat! For me, this is so much better than having to walk outside. I'm an indoor girl. I hope you all are having a good day!

I did 3 miles on Sunday but nothing since. I went to the chiropractor to get adjusted for the first time in my life and I'm feeling pretty sore so I thought I would take it easy for a few days. I feel sooo much better! It is great to sit at the computer and have good posture!!:dizzy:

I love LS in the 30 Minute Walk, and I've been doing this workout nearly every other day since I started changing my habits at the end of August.

(In fact, this thread is how I found this forum. Yay!)

So, I was wondering what you all would recommend next for a variety?

Thanks...

Hi Ladies!!

Welcome to our lil thread blackdove!! I just discovered Leslie's DVDs at the end of September, so I'm just stating my collection of WATP DVDs as well. I really like the 3 mile Walk Away Your Waistline workout with the walk belt - i found the kit at Walmart for like $12. Happy Walking!!

I did a 3 mile walk today -- including the Walk Strong DVD -- that last interval was hard to get through!

Let's finish the week strong ladies!! It's about to be FRIDAY!!

I did 4 miles for the first time today. I liked how she slowed the pace gently in the last mile to bring my heart rate down. It was like a long cool down. The third mile is rough!

black dove - the people I told about my walking videos (my family) seem to think it's pretty cool. They know I don't like walking outside, so it's a good alternative for me. :) They're just glad I'm getting some exercise and off the couch! lol

blackdove95
10-20-2008, 07:58 PM
Congrats Liane! I don't think I've worn anything smaller than a 12!

I did my 30-min walk DVD today. Has anyone else added 5lb hand weights with this occasionally? I do it, but only with a few of the arm lifts at the beginning. I probably would like her tone one, huh?

Anyway, so I'm patiently waiting for my new DVD. I'm told it's been shipped :D

10-21-2008, 03:54 AM
Thanks! I like my new jeans. Well, I will like them after I hem them. I have like a 5" inseam LOL. I used to be a 12/14 so this is much better. I've still got a long way to go before I'm not considered "overweight" anymore, though. Oh well I'll get there eventually.

Anyone doing Callanetics? I got a book off paperbackswap.com (I get all my diet books there, btw) and I haven't tried it out yet but it looks really interesting. It's low impact too so I won't kill my knees or joints.

thanks for all the encouraging words. it really helps and some days man do I need those encouraging words ;-)

I think I am just worn out - I'm sure y'all can relate.

I did do 3 miles this morning even tho I did not feel like it. ;) I used the older 5 mile dvd and did the 2 fast miles and then the 3rd mile with 2 lb handweights in each hand.

Zeta - CONGRATS on doing 4 miles! AWESOME!

Kim - CONGRATS on your first 4 miles too! AWESOME!

Blackdove - I usually use 2 lb or 3 lb handweights when I use them. I don't think I've ever walked with 5 lb weights. You're gonna love the Walk Away your Waistline set!

Liane - I would be dancing a jig in those size 8 jeans! whooohoooo CONGRATS!

hope everybody has a great :running: day!

Hello to all,

I'm new to this forum as well. I started these videos last week by doing 1 mile for the 1st 5 days, 2 miles Saturday, 2 miles Monday and 3 this morning. I definitely have not hit the mark were I'm psyched to exercise in the morning...I still have to make myself though I know the 'rule' is that any new behavior becomes a 'habit' in 2 weeks.....

Let's see how tomorrow goes....!

I wish I had the energy to work out in the morning, but I like my sleep too much. I'm most motivated to doing my walking right after work (which, most days, is around 4:00 or 4:30. *love my job for that*

*bites nails for new DVD to come*

Cathy: I thought about getting 2 or 3 lb hand weights, but I was afraid of getting used to that too quickly--but that was in reference to doing just arm lifts, etc, not really in correlation to the walking dvds.

Fab4two - I totally understand where you're coming from. I try my best to make it the first thing I do in the morning, but I always get sidetracked by other things. It doesn't matter when you get it in -- as long as you get it in somewhere! Welcome!!!

Good Morning Gang

I did 2 miles this morning. I used the Walk Away Your Hips and Thighs dvd.

Fab4two - welcome! you are doing GREAT! I've beend doing this for years and I still have to MAKE myself get up and do it. If I don't get it in at 5 am I just don't get it in - something comes up during my lunch hour, or I'm in a rush to get home and start all the goings on around here, so 5 am is what works for me. but yea I would much rather sleep longer ;)

Blackdove - I agree - whatever time works best for you is the best time to do it. hope your dvd gets there soon.

Zeta/Cassie - CONGRATS on 4 more miles! so glad you were able to "boop" along today ;) that's awesome!

hope everybody has a great :running: day:

Hey hey all!

I got the WATW dvd today and decided to try it out--the whole thing! Man, I was sweating within 10 minutes. I'm not sure if I'm doing the waist belt thing right...maybe I'll be able to tell tomorrow?

Either way, the only parts of this that my coordination just couldn't figure out is the back and forth side-steps and then the tap outs with the belt reaches. I was like, huh?

Nevertheless, it felt good to be moving for that extra 15 minutes!

Hope you guys are well today!

ZetaMD2Be
10-23-2008, 01:10 AM
Hiya ladies!

Blackdove - Coordination escapes us all sometimes! You are not alone. But after the first few times, you get it down. Congrats on getting that 3 miles in today!

Cathy -- I can't imagine working out at 5am -- mainly because I need to be out my door, on my way to school by then (pre-rounds at 5:30am). Thank god this rotation ends on FRIDAY. LOL. Congrats on getting that 2 miles done! I might need to invest in the Hips and Thighs DVD.

I only got one mile in myself today. I've got a big test on Friday and a skills exam in the morning, so I figured I could play catch up on my mileage this weekend. I've done 41 miles of my 50 mile October challenge so far. It looks like I'm going to get them all in -- with some to spare! I might have to aim higher next month.

Have a fabulous day ladies (since it's already after midnight!).

I had to skip yesterday because I went to a memorial service for my friend's grandma.

Today I did my WATW, and I love it! I love just pushing myself through the last mile. After I showered, I weighed myself and since the last I weighed myself, I've lost two pounds! I'm so excited about this. It means I'm that much closer getting to my goal for the new year!

Hope everyone else is doing okay! It's been quiet around here for a couple of days.

But I'm back on it today! 4 mile super challenge complete!!

Blackdove95 -- WATW is by far my favorite!!! I'm glad you're liking it too!!

Until tomorrow ladies,

Hello! Newbie here. I have been lurking on this forum for a little while now, and wanted to say thanks! I have just been walking on my treadmill and was bored to tears. I found this site and read so many good things about WATP that I ordered one from Netflix. I think the title is Express? Anyway, I did my first walk this morning and WOW. This is totally what I needed! I did the one mile easy walk (but without the band - need to get one) and the first mile of the 2 mile walk before I was exhausted.

Thanks again for helping me get to the new me!

Welcome, welcome Thunder! LS is so motivating; I love the dvds! Everyone here is so nice too and very supportive.

Today, I did the WATP, 30-min walk. I have a thing that I have to stagger the vids so I don't get too bored.

I wonder if anyone here or knows of anyone who's actually met Leslie? I imagine she's just as lovely in person as her dvds, but maybe that's just me?

Hello Everyone. I am gald to be here and am having a blast reading everything here. What a total wealth of information and what amazing support I am reading here.

I am a 30-something Mom and started my new life about four to five months ago. I began walking two months ago + and have added spurts of running to my walk. I find it's really helping with lots of things. My daily "trek" is about three miles. Two miles is walking and 1 mile is running. I break my running up into pieces so it isn't all at once.

Anyway, I wanted to stop in and say "hello" and tell all of you how excited I am to find this site. I have been blogging on another site for several months but it is pretty slow there. This looks like the place for me.

I went on Fri, Sat, and Sun but I think that will have to be it because I don't think my husband will watch the 2 kids during the week if I want to go. :( I've been doing the walking dvds for about a 1.5 months or so and I feel like I have gotten so much better at walking! Isn't that a weird thing to say? Like 1 mile is just a warm-up, and I can walk with good posture and keep my core stabilized.

hey gang - i didn't get up in time to walk this morning so i walked outside at the park after work today. i walked for 30 minutes as fast as i could go so i'll call it 2 miles. the track is not marked. it's a beautiful cool, crisp & breezy day here in Louisiana so we are lovin' that!!!!! it was just too nice to walk inside today ;-)

i'll try to do personals tomorrow

Hey Everyone!!

I woke up and did 2 miles before going to class this morning! I was hoping that it would help defeat the lecture sleepiness -- it worked to some extent, but there's just nothing interesting about psych drugs.

Liane -- Congratulations on getting in some gym time!! I totally understand what you mean by "getting better at walking." It's much easier to do the DVDs now than it was that first week. I've also noticed that it's been helping with stamina (I guess that's the right word) -- I have to climb a couple flights of stairs to my friend's apt and today I did it without feeling tired! That's the first time I've ever done that I think. It must be all those knee lifts kicking in.

Cathy -- Enjoy the fall weather while it lasts! Before we know it, it'll be winter. I was really surprised by the brisk wind and cold temperature outside this afternoon -- I had to go get a jacket out of my car!

Thighs Be Gone -- I'm not sure if there's a download section in the iTunes store especially for fast paced walking. You might be able to search playlists that other people have made on iTunes. There's usually several that say workout somewhere in the title. If not, there's a thread in the 20-somethings subforum of good workout music.

Blackdove95 -- I'd LOVE to meet Leslie. I've read her book and she comes across the same way in the book as she does in the DVDs.

Have a fabulous evening ladies!

Cassie

Hiya gang!

I did the 3-mile WATW without the belt today. I still feel like I got a workout. Yay! Leslie really is, I believe, the reason for my current weight loss. That and self-motivation. I'm so "anal" about everything else in life, I figured I might as well be about exercise.

Liane: This ties in to what you were saying about walking better. I sooo believe that this is true. My bf and I went to Austin City Limits Fest (Fri through a Sun) and even spent that Thursday walking all over Austin. I gotta tell you... if I hadn't started my lifestyle change a month prior, I would've been dying and needing breaks. But I kept on :) It's a shame that you won't be able to go to the gym more, and not to get too personal, but I find it odd that your husband won't watch the kids a couple times a week. It's beneficial to everyone if there's a happy, motivated mommy around, no? Just wondering, and you don't even have to respond...

Cassie: Yeah, somehow I doubt even Leslie could make psych drugs interesting... unless she started lecturing WHILE you're walking. haha.

Anyway... hope you loveys are well! (And, please, call me K :) *smiley face optional, hee*)

Everyone is doing great! I am going to try and get one mile in tomorrow morning before we go to the library.

I need to find some walking music as well! What a great idea.

I soooo want to ***** about my husband but I guess everyone has their problems with balance, eh? He works long hours during the week and is also studying pretty hard for the CPA exam. I steal away on the weekends but even that is not easy bc I have to pump and leave milk in the fridge if I am away for a long while. I am really really excited to be visiting my parents next week. They will definitely love time with the grandkids while I go for a walk or to the gym. Well, you do what you can, right? That is why I love the walking dvds. I can put the baby in a babycarrier and do them if I am really desperate. Oh yes, and an Elmo dvd for the older one. LOL

Hey gang - we had "frost on the pumpkin" this morning LOL it was 36 degrees at my house. crisp and brrrrrrr I love it. It doesn't get much colder than that here in LA so I enjoy it when we get it.

I got up at 5:00 and did 2 miles. I did the WATP 1 mile walk and then the 1st mile of the 3 mile Weight Loss Walk. :cb:

Welcome Thighs Be Gone! it's nice to meet you and walk with you!

BlackDove - I agree with Cassie - I think Leslie would be just the same in person as she is on her videos. I would love to meet her. Actually, I'm tickled pink bec she put me on her top friends list on myspace.

Liane - that's great that you've been at the gym! Enjoy your visit with your parents!

Cathy - I agree, it was very burrrrrrrr here this morning in central LA!

Cassie - I worked in the mental health field for 9 years so anything to do with psych is interesting to me, meds and all.

I put in the 2 mile yesterday and made it 1.5 miles before my legs were burning so bad I could not go on. Took a short breather, then decided to go check the mail. We live near the back of a 3-acre lot so it's a little bit of a walk to and from the mailbox.

I'm off to attempt the 2 mile again, then pack for a 3 day trip back home to TX.

Hiyas!

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. Tuesday, I skipped because the bf had the night off, so I spent time with him. Wednesday, I did the 30-min WATP, and today I did the WATW w/ belt.

I think I'm getting better at it. I'm still not quite sure about lunges tho, but I do what I can.

Cathy: I'm a bit suspicious about the myspace for LS because it says she's 25. Now, she may look it, but I know that's not true :D

hey gang - i've slept til 6 the past couple of mornings so I've missed my walking. :(

BlackDove - Leslie has to be around 45. on some of her latest videos she talks about if you exercise it's like you're 10 years younger than you are and says "hallejuah i'm 35" so she's got to be around 45. I went back and looked or her page but I can't find where there is an age. can you point me to it please.

CONGRATS on everybody's walking!

Cathy, I'm just north of Alexandria. My family thinks I'm crazy since I moved just a few weeks after Gustav! I love it out here.

I haven't walked since Tuesday because of my trip, but will get back on track today.

Just curious, how long has everyone been walking and how much weight have you lost?

Anyone have any ideas on where I can get any of Leslie's dvds used? I signed up for swapaDVD.com but they only have the 1 mile dvds available. I'd love to get a few at a discount price. In the meantime I will just keep perpetually checking them out from the library. Good thing no one else in my city wants them!! Thanks for any advice!

Cathy: You know what I just realized? The 25 I saw is probably in reference to how long she's been doing the Walkathome stuff.

Thunder Thighs: I started the 30-min WATP around in June, but kind of stopped when life got crazy. Then, I picked it up again at the end of August, and since then I've lost 15 lbs!

Liane: The ones I've ordered, I've gotten from eBay from an eBay store there called "totalfitnessdvds."

Ladies: I'm afraid I'm not walking today because I wore boots today that really hurt my feet, so I'm taking it easy. I'm going to attempt to attach a pic of the costume I wore today at work :)

Hey Ladies!

blackdove 95 -- I love the costume! I'm glad you were able to get into the Halloween spirit. I couldn't get into it for some reason this year.

I did the 4 mile super challenge today, just to round out the month of October. That brings my total miles for October to 62 miles! YIPPEE!! I'm going to aim for 70 in November, I think.

I hope you ladies have a FABULOUS weekend!

Rockin' costume, blackdove! I'm going to dress up as a stripper next year. Or something that shows a lot of skin because I will be HOT. Or at least MILF quality, anyway.

I am going to add up my miles from my pedometer too. My dh is going to do some fancy thing on excel for me.

kamesennin
11-01-2008, 04:49 AM
K, I added it up and I walked 235,364 steps or 94.11 miles according to my pedometer. The miles recorded by my pedometer do not actually match up to the walking dvd miles, it usually says 2 miles for the 3 mile dvds. Oh well it's an approximate, anyway. I have a weigh in tomorrow and I probably didn't lose any this month :dz: but that's ok. Hopefully my pictures will look different. I measured but I haven't lost any inches. :^: I bet it is just muscle gain, though. And umm...whose idea was it to have halloween at the end of the month, right before my weigh in? :nono:

I'm totally counting the 1.5 mile walk I did outside to go to my bank and back as my workout today.

Thanks for the compliments, ladies! :)

Hey Everyone!

I didn't get in a video today, but I did 2.5 miles on the treadmill. I've decided that I like the WATP DVDs much better than the treadmill -- but the treadmill allows me to watch TV while I walk. LOL. There's always a trade-off!

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
