My goals for September:

Run/Walk - 25 miles
Swim - 12 miles

I am hoping to blow past my goals but I also want to be able to successfully complete the month. I need that reaffirmation for October. I can do it. Let's see everyone else's goals!

Today I ran 1.5 miles and walked another 3.

I am still working out of town and working overtime so my miles will be less. I will keep my goal the same.

I took the dogs for 3 miles when I got home Friday and Angie and I did 3.5 with them on our week-end coffee walk.

Thursday and Friday I did 4.25 miles, and Saturday I got in 5 miles.

Also, does anyone know how many steps you are supposed to do each day to be healthy?

Swam .85 mile last night (quick after work workout) then ran/walked 4 miles today with the hubby and kids! Also did 30 mins cardio at the park while DH played with the kids!

I got in one 5K this morning with the dogs and plan to do ISABELLA'S CANADIAN THANKSGIVING one tomorrow with Angie. Giving myself a mile for each hour of O.T. this week since I didn't have time to get miles in. I must burn calories with that OT though 'cause I was down almost 2 pounds from when I left Monday to this morning.

Swam after work last night. 1.02 miles - yards are strange to convert into miles, maybe next month I will just do my yards goal so I don't have to keep doing the math :)

Checking in with my OT and miles. Should be back home for work the end next week....maybe even get a much needed few days off!

I got home late last nigh and took my dogs out for 3.5 this morning on a very nice cool santa ana windy day....now quite hot!

Miles and OT totals........allowing 1 mile for every hour OT...'cause I can!

Whew...busy couple of days! Still trying to work toward my goal for the month, even though I found out yesterday about a weekend conference my academic advisor forgot to tell me about!

October 16: 3 mi elliptical
October 17: 2 mi treadmill (ran 1.5 miles of it!)

Wow...not a good exercise weekend for me, but I'm getting back on track today! Oh, and I'm thinking about signing up for a run/walk 5K in two weeks...maybe!

October 20: 2 mi jogging (indoor track)
Other--Ramp It Up! workout tape (partial--getting back into it!)

OK CAT and College ~ not the best...but ANYTHING is better than NOTHING!!

Worked a 7 hr. day, drove 150 miles home, got out of my truck and took my mutts for 3 miles...'cause I knew if I didn't go then...I wouldn't go!

Really hot here tonight...Angie and I gave up walking the dogs after 2.5 miles...all 4 of us panting.

I didn't see that anyone wrote back but I had the same question. I looked online and found an article thru About.com that said this:

Based on the best evidence as of the end of 2003, Dr. Catrine Tudor-Locke recommends the following:

Classification of pedometer-determined physical activity in healthy adults:
1) Under 5000 steps/day may be used as a "sedentary lifestyle index"
2) 5,000-7,499 steps/day is typical of daily activity excluding sports/exercise and might be considered "low active."
3) 7,500-9,999 likely includes some exercise or walking (and/or a job that requires more walking) and might be considered "somewhat active."
4) 10,000 steps/day indicates the point that should be used to classify individuals as "active".
5) Individuals who take more than 12,500 steps/day are likely to be classified as "highly active".

LOL I am so lame that I forgot to add in my one measly mile this morning. I'm sick and had planned to walk 3 but time got away from me and I had to pick up DS from swim lessons. I did play with him actively for over an hour in the pool after his lesson though, so I was moving :)

October 25: 1 mile jogging (intense mile, but I was being LAZY yesterday!)

Wow, I know I can make 9 more miles this week easy, but I feel pressured now that it's down to the wire!

Went for a run this afternoon outside. Ran for 2 miles and walked .75. Next time I go out I will schedule in more time for another mile of running and extra walking because it was a very peaceful run!

I think the swimming goal isn't going to happen and I will have to set it lower next month due to work, but I am happy my running miles will be above my goal!

Angie and I just got home from an easy 2.5 with the dogs before dinner...should have gone more...having leftover bratwurst...

Well I need almost 5 miles a day to reach goal...might make it, I think I am off work most of the week.

Well after a few days off I had a nice home workout. Did 2 miles of walking and 30 minutes of weights. I feel good that I can do that much at home and not be wiped out anymore.

Off work today...the usual...3.5 for the mutts, our little extended walk and then 2 miles on the treadmill watching the morning news. Should reach goal even though I have to work a little tomorrow.

YAY! I made goal....worked a 1/2 then took the dogs for 2.5, would have gone farther but it is too hot here for them to be out more and tonight with trick or treaters...well...not a good time for dog walking!

Ok forced myself to the gym today despite feeling crappy just to finish goal LOL. Did a mile run then swam a little but had to get out for DS to go trick or treating around the Y. I knew I wouldn't finish my swim goal but that is ok. I will just fine-tune my goals for November!
