Default my little brother's having surgery

He's had a lump in his lymph node for months, and persistent throat/wisdom teeth infections. (He's 19). The dr's say it's not cancerous, it's just fluid from infections that have built up in it and it has no where else to go. The Dr. says his lymph node is destroyed, and wants to have surgery on Thursday to remove it.
Has anyone known anyone who has gone through this? My mom is freaking out, and I don't know what to tell her.

I don't have advice, but I'll offer up a prayer and some good vibes. Thank God they said it's not cancerous.

I just talked to my mom--he's having surgery early tomorrow morning. He should be able to go home that day, but he may have to stay overnight. I'll post again after his surgery.
Thanks for all the prayers, chickies!

Good Luck to your family today....Do you know if they are going to send him to an oral surgeon to have his wisdom teeth out too?

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your brother....

Andrea, good luck to your little niece!
His wisdom teeth were taken out over a month ago, but he still had problems.
He came through surgery okay, and they put in a drain to get rid of all the excess fluid. He will be okay, but the lymph node was totally destroyed, the dr. said.
Thanks for the prayers, chickies!!!
