i mean your food scales.

i thought my 3 oz of chicken looked BIG last night. thankfully we have another digital scale at home and I grabbed my 1 pound weights and weighed them

the BROKEN scale weighed 1 pound at 13.6 oz WAY OFF and too light

the USING IT NOW scale weighed my 1 pound weight at 16.7 which seems right to me and my 2 pound weight at 2.2 which also seems right.

SO check those scales!

I use a postage scale--spring loaded, not digital. :) I make sure to zero it from time to time. It goes up to 5 pounds with a swinging needle indicator. I just tested it with a 2 pound weight, and it's quite close.

I use a digital scale and it seems pretty accurate based on the number of servings of things I weigh and the fact that it matches up. Example, can of pumpkin had 3.5 servings based on label and surprise, I came out with just a little more than 3.5 servings after finishing the can.

Mine is spring loaded too. But, wow, that's scary. Glad you caught it.

Good idea. I should make it a point to check my scale once a week or so. Just stick a one-pound weight on there and make sure the reading is good.
