Ann: If you do have flash then wait for it. Its quite cute :)

As for weighing with the peel on for bananas and oranges, I have never been told that. I have always weighed them with out the peel as I dont eat it. But I will ask when I go to work on Monday. Would like to know as it doesnt seem right to me either.
Maybe Karen has a different answer.

Hello all. I am back again.

After 2 months in the wilderness I, at last, feel like speaking to others again. We have had a pretty torrid time in the last 2 months what with my eldest son coming home again to live, my youngest son moved into his new house at Ballarat and my daughter resigned from her job. All this has been pretty stressful on me and at long last things are starting to settle down again.
My computer is in the room where Martin is now sleeping and I haven't been able to access at all times like I used to.

You all sound as if you are well. I have been reading what you post and feel that I have kept up with all of you that way.

Love to all of you.
Take care.
Ash/Jenye :)

My weigh-in was not a good one. I gained back the 1.8 I lost two weeks ago. I am just saying it was because I had to "feed my cold'

Welcome back Ash. Sorry you have had to deal with so much stress. That's not good, but glad things are back to normal now.

Lily: I probably didn't wait long enough. The red page came up and the the word loading, 00%, and I just thought that it shoud be there in quick time. Oh well. I'll be interested to hear what they say about the peel. No one eats orange and banana peels. I can see pears or apples.

Have a good weekend everyone. Thanks for the new thread. I still don't understand why I am not getting the notifications. I have checked the email box, but nothing comes through, so I just have to go the the main page, message board, and all the rest to get the page. Any hints/ I have ssent an email to 3FC, but so far no response. Bye for now.

Ann: Dont know what to tell you on the email thing. Think your gonna have to wait for Suzanne to get back to you. Must be something wrong with the board script. Sorry about the gain. But you'll get it back off. :) I checked the box to see if the email option works for me.

Jenye: So good to see you back! Was wondering where you went. Sounds like a pretty bad couple of months for you. Glad thats its now getting better and slowing down a bit for you.

Beautiful day here! Im going to go outside and read. Dont want to work, just want to be lazy for a change :)

Thanks Lily. I'll Just keep waiting, and checking the posts. i was just lazy always waiting for my notification. Reading outside sounds like a nice way to spend an afternoon.

My cold is improving. so far no coughing spasm today, and I actually was able to sing in church. Things are lookng up. Now just to get rid of the extra.:joker:

We are now planning a Dogpatch picnic for the last one of our planned activities. I think it is going to be a lot of fun. Now I'm looking for and appropriaate recipe for punch that I can call Kickapoo Joy juice. Any ideas anyone? We will have Wild Pig(Pork Barbecue) Cold sliced Turkey Vulture(sliced turkey) Possum on a stick(Shishkebob) tater salad, Tooters(baked Beans) Skunk cabbage Slaw, turnip greens, hush puppies, and peach cobbler. Hows that for a Menu. And of course the Kickapoo Joy juice.
We've had a lot of fun just planning it. We've also made special labels to paste over some canned food, like hash, etc, and they will be labelstating they come from Road Kill canning company. Some great stuff!!!:D: :D: :D: :D:

Talk to you later. We've been invited out to lunch  Ann

G'day all,

Very happy person here today, son and his girlfriend arrived yesterday and they just love where we live and are very excited being here till Friday.
Last night I sat in the spa with his girlfriend till 10.30pm, just chatting about anything and everything, I am lucky I get on well with her (and also dd's husband)
Despite the forecast for rain, it is a sunny day here today.:)

Jeney pleased to see you back, I am sorry to hear about the upheaval in your life. It is something that you could have done without, I am sure, just remember who is number 1 in your life;) so take care.
Life in Sydney is quite a change from Melbourne and I have to say that I can now very definetly say I prefer Melbourne (but Adelaide is and always will be my favourite!). I just don't like the sub tropical climate in Sydney. DH still goes to Melbourne for a few days every fortnight but now that I am working, I don't go with him :( He told me the garden show was on again in the Carlton Gardens, I hope you may have had an opportunity to go and have a look at the displays. Last year it was just superb, well worth the visit.

Ann sorry to hear about your gain but good news about the voice! The 'virtual husband' I was unable to view at work but saw it at home, it was good for a giggle and perhaps a little close to the bone :D

I find out about the cholestrol testing today, I'll be interested to see what it is.

I also got a letter from a little Vietnamese boy that we sponsor. He is so cute and tells me his favourite game is marbles, his favourite subject is story time and his chores are that he has to sweep. It was written in vietnamese and then underneath translated. What gave me goosebumps was his last sentence 'I'll try to study well to be worthy of your care'. To think that our 'care' amounts to $35 per month ( the cost of a nice bottle of wine) made me feel quite quilty. I will write a letter today and perhaps find a nice colourful picture book that he can share with his sisters.

Have a great day all......

This is a good one:lol: We have been getting so much spam email, and some quite pornographic, that I listed a number of words that would be automatically deleted before I ever saw them. Tonight I got 14 messages but only 9 of them showed up for me to read, so I knew my filter was working. Just out of curiosity I went to deleted pages to see the subjects, and guess what - sexy was one of my words, so now I know what has happened to my notifications. Never considered this thread as possible porn.:D: :D: :D: So now I will check my deleted list for my notifications. Good night all. Ann

I can hear!!!!!!!

Went to the doctors about the results of my cholestrol testing, the results were not terrific and she has put me on 'lipitor' to try and reduce it. In 4 weeks time another blood test to check how I am going.

I also mentioned to her that I am sick of having water in my ear and unable to get rid of it. Last night after a spa, I had a swim and again 12 hours later I still have the sensation of water in my ear:( . She syringed the ear, had to have a go 5 times before something moved. I won't go into the gory details other than I cannot believe the difference the syringing has made. My voice sounds so much louder as does everything else, amazing!
I can now go swimming without that awful sensation of having water in my ear for up to , goodness knows, how long:)

Soon be time to go home, see ya all tomorrow.....
Cheers

No really I am glad that you can hear. That had to be very annoying. And I hope the Liptor works for you. My dh takes it and it sounds like others here do too. It is nice to spend time with your son and his girlfriend. And the little boy you sponsor. How heartwarming! You are a very nice person. We watched a show last night on kangaroos. It was interesting to see how they survive in the outback. Well Ann I didn't know this was a porno site. That is a shame that you can get all that stuff in your mail. At least now you know why you weren't getting stuff from here. You latest adventure in the park sounds like a blast. I don't know any punch recipes but I will hunt around. Oh it is time to leave to see if I qualify for another leg study. Peggy

Maria: Great news! Bet it is a big difference for you :) So nice of you to sponsor that boy. He sounds very cute.

Peggy: Another study? More money! Time to go shopping. :D Wish I could find things like that here. Sounds like alot of fun.

Alas the sun went away. Its cold and rainy today.

Slavika & Trudy where are you?

Peggy - you should have the definitive answer on all products--what to use and how to use them! And EEEK! You found a nasty little mouse! That will teach you to clean!

Maria - I think it is wonderful that you sponsor a little Vietnamese child. And for $35 he is getting such a lift in his life! It is so nice to get along with your children's significant others so well. They probably just love you!

Jenye - Wow! What an upheaval you have been going through! So is your daughter re-employed again? Kids can just worry us to death, can't they? I have one son who is 24 who just does not have a clue and we worry ourselves sick over him.

This weekend we had Austin. Austin is 10 months old, not walking yet, and into EVERYTHING. He weighs 27 pounds so he is a large weight to carry around. We had so much fun with him though. Took him to a restaurant and gave him a lemon slice and I was almost hysterical because he kept eating it, doing the wincing with his face and shuddering his whole body and just kept eating it and smiling inbetween. I love being a grandma!

Ann - YEA! for a returned voice. The picnic sounds like so much fun. Your message made me laugh because after your description of the food, someone invited you out for lunch. Maybe they felt sorry for you (with roadkill and such delicacies on your menu).

We had a lovely warm weekend. I didn't get a chance to check in here, there sure were a lot of posts to read. Slavika is without her PC... she took it in on Fri and she is hoping to get it back sometime today.
Now that spring/summer is here we are cleaning up the yard. Over the winter there were voles living under the snow eating our grass. The lawn sure looks weird, little trails where the voles munched up the grass. Our front yard looks like a road map. The really strange thing is that neither of our neighbors had them. The tracks end at the property line  It is driving my DH nuts :spin: Lily I read that there are a lot of voles in California.. ever have them?
Maria we have so much, we give our children so much, it is always heart breaking to see pictures of children who have nothing. Good for you, sponsoring a child. We played Canasta on Sat night with good friends... I thought of you. :) We play partners, and the "girls" beat the "boys". We were :smoking:
My DH hasn't had a single side effect from the Lipitor. His numbers are perfect since he started taking it. 90 tablets cost $216.60 here.
Glenda What a cute picture that made of little Austin eating lemon slice. He sure is growing fast. What a treat it is for you to spend so much time with him.
Ann So funny... a porno site..
Slavika I opened 2 cans today and a pkg of spaghetti... washed everything.. who knew? Now that the cans are opened I have to go and make the spaghetti.

Have a good day all...

I am hearing you all loud and clear:D

I am quite excited, my very favourite singer was interviewed this morning from Vancouver, Chris Isaak  :D and he is coming on tour to Australia to promote his latest CD (that I bought the day it was released :dizzy: ) He is not going to Adelaide so it is just as well I am in Sydney and I will be able to go to his concert.:joker: His TV show is here on cable TV, I must say that I found that show very average but it was still nice to see him sing at the end of the show.
Any other Chris Isaak fans???????

I have also booked for us to go to see a comedian by the name of Rich Hall, he is American. I am not too sure about his type of humour but my son says he is just great! I will let you know tomorrow what I thought. He must be very popular, all his performances were booked out when I tried to book over the internet, I rang the boxoffice on the off chance of a cancellation and got seats. :) It is also a good opportunity for the kids to experience a performance in the Sydney Opera House

Trudy perhaps you should get the Liptor here, I paid $28 for 30 tablets. I then have to have another blood test to ensure it is not effecting my liver adversely.
I hope I will be the same and have no side effects.
Trudy what are voles??? I initially thought it was a typo and you meant 'moles' but I think you did mean voles.
I have been wondering where Slavika was, I thought she may just be spending a lot of time luxuriating (is that a word???) in her new bathroom.:D
Well done with the canasta, I haven't played as much as I used to because of 'working' and they don't allow me access at work:(

Glenda Austin sounds very cute, I can picture the scene with the lemon slice.

Peggy leg study????? is that still the same study or a new one?

Ann I have never tried to filter out sites but it obviously works, perhaps a bit too well;)

I better go and at least pretend to do a bit of work:D
Have a great day all

Maria: All the concerts and shows sound great. There is something to be said about the opportunities in a big city. And it is so great that you can get messages from your special child. Must give you a warm feeling. Glad you can hear well again. that is such an awful feeling. You probably were'nt aware of all you were missing. Lipitor is very expensive here also. I am glad that I can get the results I need with Niacin.

Glenda: Austin sounds like a lot of fun. Babies are such a pleasure. I love to rock them to sleep. Something about rocking and singing that is very satisfying.

Lily: Now I know where to look every day for my message. It is just too funny!

Trudy: Must be your grass has the most delicious roots. Since your neighbor hasn't had any problem. Your lawn food must be filled with extra good stuff. :D: :D: :D: All joking aside, Voles can be a terrible problem. When we had that problem in N.Y. state, I remember my dh had some sort of smoke bombs he dropped into their little tunnels. Don't remember how well they worked, but I guess there was some satisfaction in just trying something.

Peggy: What sort of leg test? Sounds interesting.

Trudy: Poor slavika. She sure has had puter problems lately. How weird about the voles, that they end at the property line. Very strange. Yes I have seen them, but not around houses. Usually in the hills. Hope you get rid of them. Sounds like they cause quite a bit of damage.

Maria: So glad you can hear again! I like Chris Isaak. Lucky you get to see him. Should be a good concert. :)

Glenda: Austin sounds so cute. The lemon slice is to cute!

Glad to be back and be on air again. Looks like the upheaval has started again, but no matter what I will not let it upset me again. Maybe I need a holiday to get myself on level pegging again.

Maria Sounds as if Sydney has not impressed you as a city to live in. Last I heard you were in the middle of a shift, but thsat was ages ago. My daughter is shifting down to an apartment in the Lonsdale building opposite the beach at Port Melbourne in the weekend. I imagine the views down there will be spectacular. We will lose contact with St Kilda Road but she will be happy down there. I hope that your dd enjoyed her stay in Sydney and that all is well.

Survivor My dd is going into partnership with her partner. They are both in Real Estate and have started a company called Melbourne City Real Estate. They mainly deal in apartments that are for Sale and she will handle the rental side of it. My ds is 37 and I feel that he will never grow up. I have found that they get worse as they get older.

Lizziepie and Lily Thanks for thew welcome back. I hope that your cold is better now Lizziepie and that you are singing like an "angel"

Trudy I found a dead one in the backyard last week. I am thinking the neighbors cat killed it or else my dog. I don't think he did because he didn't seem to know it was there. I have seen a few dead ones in the park too. It is wierd that they stop at your property line. They must like your yard for some reason. Jennye welcome back. I forgot to tell you that last time. I was wondering where you were. Maria have fun at the Chris Isaak concert. You do the funnest things. Glenda I can't believe that Austin is 10 months old already. It seems like he was just born. We have a drug prescription card and all our prescriptions are $10. He has to get it {lipitor} filled once a month so for 30 days it is $10. The leg study is for a week and it is the same as all the others. Use Olay soap and go in daily for lotions to be put on marked spots. Boring and the pen marks on the legs are very attractive. Sort of go with the veins. Well we are having another 85 degree day and it is time to go out and enjoy it.

Trudy

Maria I am a Chris Isaak fan too. I have watched the show, but just like it when he sings. I haven't heard of Rich Hall though. I don't know how your dollar compares to ours, but it sure looks like Lipitor is much cheaper for you. DH takes 20mg. I had to look Voles up on the Internet... they are like a field mouse. No danger of them getting into the house as they don't like to climb. They are about 5 - 7" from tip of nose to end of tail. So far we haven't seen any holes in the ground. DH has an "expert" coming over.
Ann, I will keep the smoke bomb info from my DH... I could just see him out there setting off bombs.. I don't have any punch recipes, but I will ask Slavika if she has any. She still hasn't got her PC back, and as you can guess ... is getting a little edgy without it. :spin:
Hi Ash.. good to have you back, but sorry you have been having family problems. I hope things work out for you.
Peggy .. I guess you aren't wearing shorts with pen markings on your legs . Have you ever liked any of the products you tested and started to use them?
Lily I always thought the fruit was weighed with the skin on... I am happy to hear that I was wrong. Sometimes the skin weighs a lot, like banana skins.

Hope you all have a nice day :)

Lizziepie
04-16-2002, 05:01 PM
Lily: Thanks for the info. It never made sense to me to weigh something you weren't going to eat. I even cut off all the bone gristle, etc, from a piece of meat before I weigh it. I guess we just have to use some common sense now and again.:spin:

Ash: Hope your family situation continues to improve. I have a dd that has problems with growing up in many ways. She works and supports herself, but in other ways her life is the pits.!

Maria: Enjoy all your concerts. Sounds like fun.

Trudy: Hope your expert will take care of the problem with the little critters.:jig: Say Hi to Slavika and tell her we miss her.

Peggy: Do the circles on you legs wash off easily? I'd be interest to know if you have really liked any of the products you are testing. Do they do this on people with different skin types or what. How long will this test last? I bet you can just see the new outfit your labors will bring when the check comes in.:)

Karen: Where are you? Hope you and your dh are not having health problems. You are supposed to be enjoying a night off now.

one of my best posts :dizzy: ever, has gone into cyberspace:mad: I might as well tell you it was my best post ever, you are never going to know otherwise:p

We had a great time last night but were home quite late 12.30 am and of course, up normal for work this morning:(

Trudy I knew you would be a Chris Isaak fan! Nothing has been released yet as to where the concert will be held or the exact dates. I do hope it is not an outside venue.
Thank you for checking out about 'voles', I should have checked it out myself on the net. I do not like any of those sort of things, I have never heard of them in Australia but I could be wrong.

Jenye good to hear you have decided that nothing is going to upset you anymore. If you achieve that, perhaps you could share your secret with the rest of us:D.
Sounds like it would be a good move for your dd setting up their own Real Estate company. Melbourne and Sydney are certainly where the action is. Not a day goes by here without some other record price been paid for some apartment/house/land etc. I honestly don't know how anyone (as in normal people, with normal jobs ;) ) can afford to buy here in Sydney. Melbourne is not as bad as Sydney but they are not far behind.

G'day everyone,

Last day for me, I have a day off tomorrow to go shopping with son's partner:)
Last night we went to the IMAX theatre not far from where we live. I really didn't feel like going but thought I had better do the right thing whilst the kids are here. It was fantastic, I had never been to one and was just so impressed. We saw a film on caving etc. and boy, it made you feel quite giddy at times, the scenery was just unbelievable. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. DH and I are now keen to see 'Shacklteton's Antartic Adventure'.

Lily you are right, it is not easy galavanting out at night and then front up as fresh as a daisy to work the next day:D

It will be a quite few days after the kids leave tomorrow night. Sunday I have to do all those preperations for the colonoscopy on Monday :dizzy: I guess it would not be wise to venture too far from the bathroom;)

The kids are meeting me for lunch today so that should be good.

Slavika you will have a bit to read when you are finally on line again. You must be very annoyed, look forward to your next post.:)

Cheers

[ Hi Everybody
I still don't have my computer back but DH brought his lap top home tonight because he said I was I getting a little cranky without my computer. LOL "He was right too!!":)
Actually there wasn't anything really wrong with my computer but I had gone to print something and the computer said my printer was off-line. My son came over and un-installed and then re-installed the printer a couple of times and nothing the same thing. :( I phoned the Computer shop today, around 3:00 and they were finally working on "MY" stuff but had not as yet solved the problem. Of course I had to take in the printer, the scanner, the computer and all the cords.....oh brother!
Ash welcome back, I wondered where you went.
Ann I will check my recipes and see if I have anything in the way of neat punch recipe that would suite your new "party". The one Peggy gave you sounds good.
I'll be back tomorrow when I have more time. See you all then.

Sunshine Punch

12 oz can frozen orange juice
12 oz can frozen lemonade
12 oz can frozen limeade
4 cups cold water
8 cups ginger ale
orange sherbet

Use 1/2 of each can of juice. Place in large punch bowl. Add water
and dissolve. Add ginger ale. Add orange sherbet by the teaspoonful
so that it floats on top of the punch. You can add ice cubes if
you wish. I froze some ginger ale into cubes so that it didn't
water down the punch.

Nonalcoholic Party Punch
Makes about 3 gallons

2 bottles (1-1/2 quarts each) Mauna L'ai guava/passion-fruit drink
2 bottles (1-1/2 quarts each) cranberry juice cocktail
2 quarts grapefruit juice
3 bottles (1 liter each) ginger ale
4 or 5 limes, halved lengthwise and cut into thin slices

In a large punch bowl, blend together juices and ginger ale. Add
2 trays ice cubes and the lime slices.

To serve, put 2 or 3 ice cubes in glass or cup and ladle on the
punch, making sure everyone gets a slice of lime.

I made this for a dinner party for 45. The other beverage choice

Hi all...
We like going to IMAX too. Sometimes they have several different shows all in a row, so we will see 3 or 4 of them in one afternoon. We stop to eat, of course.. There sure has been a lot about Shackleton on TV lately. I saw a documentary and then a week ago they had a 4 hr movie on A&E channel starring Kenneth Branaugh (not sure I spelt his name correctly). What an ordeal they went through.
Maria I hope the preparations for colonoscopy go smoothly. You are so limited in what you can eat... I got so weak the last time. Before you know it, the whole ordeal will be over.
Slavika good to see you back. Too bad you didn't think about using the lap top earlier. Hope those "experts" get the printer working again.
Peggy those look like tasty punch recipes.

It was so warm here, and now it is cold again. There is a little robin sitting in the tree outside my window, and he has his feathers all plumped up around him.. it looks like his little shoulders are hunched up too

Peggy: Thanks for the punch recipes. I especially like the sound of the second one. For our party we don't want the sherbet. We have to make everyone think they are getting Kickapoo Joy Juice.
We are going to have an alcoholic punch (weak) also. Figure we have to use Southern Comfort for that, since this is mountain stuff.:D:

Maria: Hope all goes well with the colooscopy. Just relax and it is soon over. I like the Imax too. but haven't been to one in a while. Some of them make you feel like you could have need of a 'barf' bag as you go zooming around all those curves and high places. etc.

I am back on DH lap top again. It's good, but because I have to plug it into my phone line nobody can call me. DH went to a hockey game tonight so he just left his cell phone here for me in case somebody (like family or close friends need to get in touch with us). My friend took to me to my sort of "final" dentist appointment today. It's the gal I spend every Wednesday with. I knew the appointment was for about 45 min. but it actually took 1-1/2 hours and she had to wait all that time. AHHHH she's a good friend. I am happy to say that I am all done unless I have some trouble. I don't go back again for one year. YIPPEE!
I have to say it took a long time and cost a lot of money but I feel really good about having had it done. The teeth are in solid....and do not move. It's even more secure then before I had to have those 4 teeth out, that I had my partial clamped on.
After the dentist we drove right over to the computer shop. The "technician" said he had a hard time finding out what the problem was, and was waiting for my permission to re-install windows because I would lose programs that I had put on....like Hallmark cards, card games, golf games, banking stuff all those things. I told him that would be ok, I could put them back on.....and some I wouldn't even bother with. He said I could pick up the computer tomorrow. He also said something about the scanner and the printer being in the same port or something, but I didn't quite understand what he was saying and they had been hooked up the same for over a year. I think I probably caused the problem myself when I "re-installed" windows myself. (I told him I did that) :(
Maria hi there. So you are going to have colonoscopy done I think you said on Monday.....I know a couple of gals who have had the procedure done and they said it wasn't too bad. They said the worst part....was the "before" part. LOL LOL, so don't go too far from the bathroom
I kind of like this lap tap except my own monitor screen is so much bigger then this screen
. Ann I looked through my punch recipes, but I didn't come up with anything I thought you could use. I have a really nice one that calls for condensed milk, but I don't think that is the kind you are looking for. The other recipe I have that is really good is called "Fruit Glo Punch" which is also excellent, but it has lemon sherbert in it. I couldn't find anything that brings to mind "Kickapoo Joy Juice" hee hee. :)
Good night all, hopefully tomorrow I will be back on my own computer.
