Default Question about Fruit

Hello and good morning!

I have a quick question (as I am packing my lunch for today) what's the deal with fruit? I mean I know it has natural sugar in it so should I avoid it or is it so low in sugar that it's okay?

Are you on SB?
Because I tend to be insulin resistant I usually only eat fruit in the morning with breakie or right after a workout.
If I have fruit at any other time I have a granny smith apple with low fat or fat free cottage cheese.

Granny smith green apples are lowest in sugar and the protein from the cottage cheese slows down any spikes in insulin that fruit would cause.

You definitely shouldn't avoid it. Fruit provides fiber and vitamins. My mom has type 2 diabetes and she was told to eat it just not go overboard with it. There are some fruits that are higher in sugar than others, like mangoes and really ripe bananas. I usually pair fruit with a protein like cheese in order to avoid insulin spikes.
