Patty, I am training on my own. I found a web site for Running Times magazine and there is a beginner training program. Its a 12 week program, starting out slow and moving faster. I am looking forward to it. (am I some sort of freak? LOL) Mind you, I am not looking to win the race, just to finish it.

Thanks for the support Anne, I appreciate any and all. My husband is being very helpful too. He used to run all the time until his back problems. He is hoping after his next post op visit in May he can begin again.

Good morning Ladies, First let me send congrats to Mooz... three pounds, man that is FANTASTIC. And another congrat to Lauri, I am very proud that you are doing the run. WAY TO GO!!
I had to make a delivery this morning, I took a pallet of chemicals to one of our wholesalers. Not many places have a truck driving bookkeeper! Think that I'll add that to my resume;) It gets so wild around here they will grab any able body to do any job. That's why they call us a team.
And for my team here, I'll give it some thought for a nifty challenge for the weekend, of course you can give it your input too.
I did 65 min on my orbitreck last night and plan on weights tonight. It's also hubby's birthday so I'm taking him out to dinner. That is if I get to leave here.
Work calls, gotta run.

You guys are all doing so well! I'm not doing too bad. I'm getting in 30 minutes a day doing one of my videos. I just wonder if it's not enough. So I need your input here guys. I'm just not seeing much for results. I've been doing this for almost six weeks, and I'm not getting anywhere fast. The first two weeks I had good losses, and it's tapered off from there. The scale is moving down VERY SLOWLY, but now seems to be going back the other way. I have strictly stayed at my 1400 calories (give or take 50) and my one 2000 calorie day per week. I have done my 30 minutes of exercise 6 out of 7 days. I drank all the dang water, but yet I am UP a pound this week!! Water retention? Gaining muscle? I would think that, but taking my measurements, I've only lost 1/2 inch in each thigh, 1 inch in my chest (where I actually didn't want to lose :mad: grrrrr), 1/2 inch in the hips, and STILL NOTHING IN THE WAIST!!! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!! I'm getting desperate here and am going to have to take more drastic action. My original goal was to be 170 when I went to see my DH May 8th. After a few weeks, I could see that wasn't happening, so I was shooting for 175. Now THAT isn't even feasable (I am now 185). I am open to ANY suggestions, so throw them my way. Please!
Sorry to go off at you guys, but I'm really just getting upset. It has taken me 6 weeks to take off the weight I put on in only 3 weeks, and I'm getting discouraged cuz I just can't seem to get out of the 180's, and I've been trying since last August, when I first got down to 185. I don't want to give up, cuz I know what the end result of that will be, but for all my work, I need to see loss, not just maintain. Oh heck, I'm just gonna shut up now cuz I'm rambling, but I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Jen, and please don't get discouraged we all go through these rough times. Let me just throw these questions out for discussion.
Are you drinking diet cola?
Are you drinking enough water?
Do you eat a lot of salty foods? (check for hidden amounts on labels)
I find that cutting back on carbs to be very helpful and the carbs that I do eat I try to stay with whole grain with little or no sugar.
Other than that I would think that you may have just hit a plateau and will start losing again once your body makes the adjustment.
I for one had to throw the scales away, it became an obcession with me. I was down in the dumps when the scale was up and very happy when it was down. It got to the point that it dictated my mood for the day. Even when I was op sometimes it would show a gain and make me feel terrible. I can tell by my clothes if I need to watch it closer or not.
Hang in there, as long as you are eating healthy and exercising you will feel better and that's the main thing.

Jen - What height are you? Maybe you are the right weight for your height? Did you ever cut down on your eating too much sometimes as the body can go into starvation mode if you do that or so they say! If you can just stick to your 1400 cal per day and your 2000 cal day I think you will soon see some movement again but don't go below that as you are very active and you have two wee kiddies to look after.
Hang in there and it will work out OK

Jen - What combination of food are you eating. From what I read you should try & include protein with every meal. When I look at my food for the day, one of my problems is that I eat too much carbs. (bread, pasta, rice)...I think i'm a carb addict.
Are you eating at least 5 servings of fruits & vegetables a day
Are you including protein with each meal?
There are some other web sites, I'll be back with some.
Semo - girl you sound like me... I"m also forklift certified. I think i'm the only one in our 48 floor building.
Lauri - This is a great challenge for you. I know you can do it. Too bad we can't be there to cheer you at the finish line.

Speaking of that... mooz, I can assure you, bouncing boobs have never been a major problem of mine LOL!! They are always the first thing to go on a diet.
SEMO, talk about pulling anybody to do any job... once at work I was walking down the hallway minding my own biz on the way to the fax machine, when a doc popped out of a room looking for a nurse, didn't find one, and said "Lauri come in here". I was sooo lucky, I got to "chaperone" a pap smear. :o I stayed away from that hallway for a looooooooooooong time!!!!
Jehari, hang in there girl!! I too gave up on the scale. I judge my clothes as well. Yesterday I was able to wear my shirt tucked in to my skirt. This, to me, is progress. It takes so little to amuse me!
I will keep you posted on my progess re: the 5k. You guys and my husband are the only ones who know. I didn't want to blab at work yet. My first day at the track, I had to borrow my sons watch because I don't have a stop watch. The next day I came home from work and there was a new watch for me that my husband had picked up with a stop watch on it. (wasn't that sweet?)
Well, gotta go read the paper, and drink a little more coffee.

Good morning ladies, and a big welcome to Billiesrosie! Over ate big time last night at Hubby's birthday dinner. So far I haven't eaten anything this morning, still feel full.
Anyway work is still very busy. I did weights for about 20 minutes last night and did about 15 min of exercise this morning. I'll have to pick up some more time tonight when I get home. I'm getting to work earlier (7:15) so I'm having to rearange my schedule.
Anyone doing weights? I'm finding it hard to do even 20 min at one time. Guess I don't know enough about working with weights. I'm open to any suggestions... all I have are dumb bells.
Okay, been thinking about our challenge......
1. Since some of us have trouble with the water, I think we should increase our H20 by one liter for Saturday and Sunday. (Just two days, we can do it) If you aren't drinking any then you should drink at least one liter or if you drink two already up it to three, etc.
2. Do a min of 22 min of some sort of exercise (up two min from last wk)
3. Leave off sweets for both days (nothing with white sugar) natural or fruits are okay.
4. No junk food. (no chips even the low or fat free kind)
5. Turn corners of mouth up into a smile at least ten times.
6. Do something fun for yourself, take a full 30 min out of your weekend and read, craft, walk or whatever you like to do.
Alright what do you think? I'm posting early so Mooz will be able to start on her Saturday. Again put your hand on the screen and repeat the challenge and remember to use I WILL not I'll try.

Lauri - Your hubby is so sweet & thoughtful.
Semo - the challenge sounds great. I'm up for it. What size dumbells are you using? I think you should start with a weight that you can do 10 reps with, maybe 2 sets, then as it gets easier increase the weight.
Anne - I'm happy to hear you motivated. How many miles are you walking today?

Just calling in before I go to linedancing. My eating was not just as good as it should have been but I didn't really fall off the wagon;)
Semo - I am certainly up for your challenge as I need to do good this week too. I usually drink about 1.5 litres of water so I will drink 2.5 litres over the weekend. (I'll be having to jump over the ditch for a piddle when I'm out walking) HA HA
Semo I do a bit of weights too after reading the book 'Strong Women Stay Slim'. I only do about 10 mins every other day. If you go to the site
www.strongwomen.com (http://) and click on Fitness Programs and then either of the three options (start strong bones, start stay slim,start vibrant aging) they all show some weightlifting exercises.That is mostly the same as the ones that I do.
Lauri - that is so sweet of your hubby buying you a watch with a stop watch on it - it brought tears to my eyes when I read it.
Patty - I walked 4 miles today. I walk most days. In the morning I walk by myself and go 2 miles but in the evening I always go with a friend as I don't like going on my own when it is later in the evening.

Last night my dear hubby (we've been together since high school by the way, which was 1977) and I went over to the grade school track to exercise. It's 1/4 mile track. I was able to run 1 1/2 laps which for me is a major deal. I was PUMPED about that!!
I am beginning to feel that I really CAN run that 5k this summer!
SEMO, I will do the water and exercise part of the challenge, but probably not the food part. I eat popcorn on saturday, because it's our family movie night. I never used to, until last week LOL!! But I tried the Orville Redenbacher low fat stuff, and its actually not bad!!
It's FRIDAY!!!! I have worked 19 days in a row, so I am ready for a little time off. I think spring is here, ssshhhh. ;-) Looking forward to running/walking this weekend.

My niece came over last night (she graduates in May with a P.E. degree) and made me out a list of exercises with weights for my arms. She also laughed at my whimpie weights and said to get heavier ones. (I have 3lbs now and she wants me to get 5lbs) It was good that she helped me or I would have been doing them wrong. She said that it's important and more effective to go slow when using weights.
Jen where are you? Don't you dare quit us!
We are still running in circles here and have one out in the office, back later.

I walked 6 miles yesterday and I am going for a 2 mile walk this morning. Food wise I am hanging in there but it is just one of those days where I feel I need more motivation to watch what I eat. I did it last weekend so I WILL do it this weekend.:?:

T - girl I am just at the Tae Bo 1 tape and I find it a good workout too but the others are probably more experts than I am.:D

Semo - I started out with the smaller weights too and I now use the 7 pound ones- the next weights that I have are 10!! and I don't think I could do too much with them:o

Good morning girlfriends!!! Today is grocery day for us. It's not quite 7 am, but I am up and at 'em. Have to make my list, but I can not start my day without hearing from you all!!
I desperately need to clean my house today. After shopping I will do that. Put a little AC/DC on the stereo and GET DOWN with my vacuum cleaner and dust rags LOL!!!
Jen, glad you popped in for a minute!! Are you getting burnt out being the mom AND the dad and all that other stuff that goes along with being a military wife? hi guys,been kind of busy the last few days my hubby was home, he is a truck driver,gone all the time,i am all ways lost after he leaves,have to have a pity party for myself,lol.i got that new bike thursday but it has been raining they say it will move out after lunch so i am hopeing to get a ride in today!i have been trying to drink more water i had 84oz yesterday,that is good for me,stayed at my 1200 calories allso! well i hope everyone has a good day,i think i will whip out the brushes today and paint me a picture! see yous later.tami

Slept in late, & now i have to catch up on cleaning, laundry, & paying bills. I"m just not in the mood for that today. The weather is dreary here. It's clouding up quite a bit. I need some sunshine...I have such a hard time drinking water on the weekends. When i'm at work i set my water bottles on my desk & can count how many I have drank. At home, I misplace the bottle..I need to work on that this weekend.
T-girl - All of the tae-bo tapes are wonderful. If you doing the basic & feel comfortable with it you might want to go to the advanced one. Just don't overdo it. Work at your own pace.
Billierosie - Your drinking up a storm. That is so good.
Mooz - WAY TO GO on the 6 mile walk. That is great. Keep that up and you will defitinely have a loss next week.

good morning!! Today it is supposed to be 76 degrees!!!!
yeehaw!!!! I did my training run/walk yesterday for 20 minutes. According to my training program I am supposed to go for time the first 8 weeks and distance the last 4 weeks. Today I will be riding my bike sometime. (if the wind cooperates)
Shoulders and left thigh are a little sore, but it feels kind of good, if that makes sense! Yesterday at the grocery I bought a huge generic bottle of ibuprofen and some iceehot (like ben-gay but not as stinky IMO)
How is everyone else? What do you all do for fun, besides exercise?:lol:
I crochet and cross-stitch, and I am also reading The Chamber by John Grisham. I don't know how I missed that one when it came out 5 or 6 years ago. I think I was moving here from ND and didn't have time to read it or something.
Gotta go read the paper!

t-girl I enjoyed the tae-bo and got really good at the basic, and moved to the advanced, but I didnt' care for all the floor work during the last half. I liked the actual kick boxing stuff.

Lauri - I do linedancing for fun and it is good exercise too. I love books but I always fall asleep when I start reading so I could never read a whole book! and that book you mention sounds very long!!:yawn:

Patty - I don't always drink enough water and it's not because I don't like it but I just forget to do it sometimes. (Psst - hope Semo isn't listening - remember the challenge woops!!)

hi all, i have had a good weekend i rode my new bike yesterday not far about 35 min i am going to try to ride every day if the weather permits and slowly increase the time. i have been drinking lots of water 90 yesterday but only 60 today,my eyeballs are floating,lol!!! lauri,i do all kinds of crafts and i love to crochetand i am a artist,i just finnished a picture of my grandson,he was sleeping and sucking his thumb,CUTE!!! i like to read but i cant put it down till i finish ,lol got to go see yous later.tami

I may have to take a mental health day this week sometime. I rarely get physically ill, so I rest my brain on my sick days!:p
Anne, I am glad you are sooo PUMPED!!!
I am somewhat in control as well, mostly with my running program. I get excited just picturing myself finishing the 5k. This keeps me going.
Right now in my spare time, I am crocheting some doilies for my friends. I love to crochet, and I usually just give the stuff away. Last year I made scrunchies and hair bun covers like they were going out of style. Everyone at work with long hair has them in almost every color. The nurses like them because they color coordinate with their scrubs.
Yesterday for the first time I tried fat free Fig Newtons! omg!!! These are wonderful!! I also like the fat free Pringles. Now if we could just formulate beer so the alcohol didn't metabolize as fat that would be progress!!! I would SO be in heaven!!! :lol:
Gotta run! Sorry if I jump all over the place with my subject matter! It's all the energy I have I guess....

Good Morning Girlfriends! I ended up NOT having to work the weekend because we got a big rain that put everyone out of the fields. I really would just as soon gotten it over with but you take the rain when it comes.
Didn't do to badly over the weekend eating wise. Worked on the 'ol arms with the weights. My jeans are feeling tight tho, so I need to watch much closer. A big hello to everyone and love the graphics.
Hey, I love crafts too, alto I'm at a stage right now that I just like to own all the stuff to do them with. However, I am not getting around to actually doing anything with them. This friend and I have a contest going, she who dies owning the most wins. I used to crochet and do cross stitch all the time then went to putting quilt tops together and actually hand quilted one. Now I'm collecting things to do cards with and one stroke painting. I keep saying one of these days........

I don't know if I mentioned this, but I am at a stinking plateau. Hopefully my running will jump start that. I run a little more each time I get out. Remember I have never been a runner so any little bit for me is quite thrilling....
Yesterday was the Boston Marathon, I can't even run 2 minutes. let alone 2 hours straight!!! Mercy sakes!! :dizzy:

I've been feeling a bit under the weather. My stomach is still giving me problems. I have one more test this thursday. The meds the doctor gave me are getting me sleepie. So i can't take them during the work day. So then my stomach starts to ache. This is something that i'm probable going to have to deal with for the rest of my life. The one thing i need to start to manage is the stress.
Lauri - I'm sure the running with get you off of that plateau. Just keep it up. Your doing great...

Patty - Sorry to hear you are not feeling that well. Did you say that it is IBS that you have? I have a friend who has it and she says that spicey food triggers it off with her. She also said that she went to a kinesiologist who told her that foods with the additive monosodium glutamate could trigger it. I have inserted this hyperlink which mentions this.
Semo - I suppose you think I am being bossy too - sorry. Good for you sticking to your weights.

hi ladys, i lost my mind today and went to the woods with my mom to hunt those wonderful mushrooms!!!! the day started out nice we drove 20 miles to her (spot),mine is much closer,took her old junk car (she calls it he mushroom car) went to park slowed down car quite,WOULD NOT START!!! i said lets go in the woods we will worry about it when we are done,4 hours later and 500 hills 3 creeks(i might add that i feel in the first one,slid down the muddy hill on the second one)by 3 i was a pro!!!crawled through every brier patch in the woods ,we found 14 mushrooms(14)when we got back to car ,still wouldnt start but a nice stranger gave us a ride home,i was all covered in mud i cant belive he stoped after seeing me. i have done good on my diet today(to tired to eat)lol.

Hi girls and a happy hump day. This week is flying by for me.
Mooz, We love ya girlfriend, and no way did I think you were being bossy, I just didn't want to put my weight down in black 'n white.
Billie, your story reminds me of an outing that my mother and I took years ago (She passed away when I was only 20) We were looking for dewberries (grow wild in this area) she stuck a can of Off (insect repellent) inside her waistband and when she would bend over it would make a hissing sound. Well she thought it was a snake and would take a couple of big steps and look all around then bend over to pick the berries again. Again and again I would see her take quick steps and look around. Finally I asked what was wrong and when she told me and we figured out it was the spray can. We laughed and laughed and for years we talked about the killer snake that stalking my Mom. Your day will always be a memory for you I'm sure.
I'm taking it easy on the exercise for a couple of days except for arms, I think that a vein has broken in the calf of my left leg. It feels as if little needles are sticking in this spot. I looked at it last night and it didn't look any different. I've got an ace banage wrapped on it today and it feels better. Anyone ever had this happen? I've noticed that my vercoise veins have gotten worst in the last year. Don't know if it's just age, exercise or they stick out more because my legs are smaller?

I have never had what you describe on your leg but I do have varicose veins which I would be aware of at times. I don't know what would make them worse - do you stand in one place a lot?

Good Evening Ladies
I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, was busy at work, then last night we had some terrible storms & tornadoes. I got lots of rain & a lightning storm. Today was another busy day at work. Tomorrow I go for what i'm hoping to be my final medical test. I'm having a upper GI done & some other stuff, to rule out uclers. From what they can tell, or can't tell it does look like i have IBS, it doesn't keep me from eating though. Tonight I went shopping & was trying on cloths (ugh).. & I've have got to get my a$$ in gear. I'm am not buying bigger cloths. ok.. enough about me...
Semo - Great story... those memories will be with you for a lifetime. I'm don't know anything about the vein thing, just keep an eye out on it.
T-girl - I hope your son is feeling better. Where do you live? I work in Dallas..

Mooz - I'm so sorry to hear about the 1 lb gain, it's probably muscle, so don't worry about it. With all the walking your doing, it's going to come off... & thanks for the info on IBS. I've been reading up on it. The bad thing about it, something might bother you one day and the next it doesn't.

HOW DRINKING 8 GLASSES OF WATER KEEPS FAT AWAY
Do you know that you are 60% to 70% water? Since most of your body is water, we need lots of fresh water every day to stay healthy. Every function in your body takes place in water. It is the solvent that removes the nutrients, hormones, antibodies and oxygen through your blood stream and lymphetic system. Water is also necessary to move the waste out of your body. If you are not drinking enough water, your body has to recycle dirty water and every metabolic function in your body does not work as efficiently.
Adults lose nearly two to three quarts (12 cups) of water every day! We lose one half cup to one cup a day from the soles of our feet. Another two to four cups are lost from breathing. Perspiration accounts for another two cups. Another three pints (six cups) are lost in urine. Urine output decreases and becomes very concentrated when you don't take in enough water. Since there is no way for your body to store water, it sets up a priority system for the amount that has been made available by intake. When you are dehydrated, your body rations and recylces water. All water losing functions are reduced. Toxic waste are dumped into tissues, fat, joints and muscles instead being eliminated.
Your lung tissue are moistened by water as they take in oxygen and excrete carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Allergies and asthmatic symptoms may be a sign of not drinking enough water. When you increase your water intake these symptoms may lessen.
Water is your body's coolant regulating your body temperature through perspiration. Sweating keeps you from overheating, especially during exercise and hot weather. It's also important to remember that your body needs as much water in cold weather as it does in hot weather. Heat exhaustion can occur when your body doesn't have enough water to regulate your body temperature. Symptoms include excessive perspiration, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea and vomiting. As little as 3% water loss results in serious health problems. A 15% water loss can result in death.
Your brain is about 90% water. Although the brain is only 1/50th of the body weight. It uses 1/20th of the blood supply. Water is an important key to concentration. When your body is well hydrated, you will notice an increase clarity in thinking. With less water the level of energy generation in the brain is decreased. Depression, headaches, memory loss and chronic fatigue syndrome are frequent symtoms of dehydration.
Your heart is 75% water and your blood is 85% water. Good hydration increases the efficiency of your cardiovascular system. Hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure and cholesterol may all be lowered by an increase in water consumption.
Your kidneys are constantly filtering your blood, concentrating waste and sending them out into your urine. When there isn't enough water, your kidneys have to recycle dirty water as they work to remove waste from your body. Overtime dehydration can damage your kidneys permanently. When the kidneys don't have enough water to function well, the liver takes over some of the kidney's work, decreasing it's ability to convert stored fat and energy, which can result in weight gain. As you drink more, your bladder will become hypersensitive and you'll be making frequent trips to the bathroom. As your body adjusts, you'll urinate less often and in larger amounts.
Your Digestive System
Food needs water to properly digest. Water carries nutrients to the cells through the blood, increasing your water intake tends to reduce the symtoms of heartburn, acid stomach, gastritis and constipation. Chronic dehydration may result in weight gain, poor muscle tone, including size and water retention. Water is essential to any weight loss plan. For every 25 pounds that you exceed your body weight you should increase your water consumption by one eight ounce glass.
Your bones are 22% water, your muscles are 75% water. Water lubricates your joints and allows you to move freely. The connective tissue around your joints needs plenty of water to maintain its elasticity and allow ease of movement. When the cartilage is well hydrated, the two opposing surfaces glide freely and friction damage is minimal. Increasing the amount of water that you drink may relieve arthritic pain.
The vertebrate in your back depend upon the hydraulic properties of water in order to move. The water stored in the spinal disc core supports 75% of the upper body weight, the fibrous materials around the disc support 25%. Back pain is a common symptom of dehydration. Drinking plenty of water will frequently decrease pain. Water also washes the harmful waste from muscle tissue, the actual cause of the pain associated with dehydration.
Keeping Fat Away
Incredible as it may seem, water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst on losing weight and keeping it off. Although most of us take it for granted, water may be the only true "impressive fluid" for permanent weight loss.
Water suppresses the appetite and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.
Here's why: The kidneys can't function properly without enough water.When they don't work to capacity. some of their load is dumped into the liver.
One of the liver's primary functions is to metabolize stored fat into usable energy for the body. But, if the liver has to do some of the kidney's work, it can't operate at full throttle. As a result, it metabolizes less fat, more fat remains stored in the body and weight loss stops.
Drinking enough water is the best treatment for fluid retention. When the body gets less water, it perceives this as threat to survival and begins to hold onto every drop. Water is stored in extra cellular spaces (outside the cells). This shows up as swollen feet, legs, and hands.
Diuretics offer a temporary solution at best. They force out stored water along with some essential nutrients. Again, the body perceives a threat and will replace the lost water at the first opportunity. Thus, the condition quickly returns.
Excess salt may be the blame for water retention problems. Your body will tolerate sodium only in a certain concentration. The more salt you eat, the more water your system retains to dilute it.
But getting rid of unneeded salt is easy -- Just drink more water. As it's forced through the kidneys. It takes away excess sodium.
The overweight person needs more water than the thin one. Larger people have larger metabolic loads. Since we know the water is the key to fat metabolism, it follows that the overweight person needs more water.
Water also helps prevent sagging skin that usually follows weight loss, shrinking cells are buoyed by water which plumps the skin and leaves it clear, healthy and resilient.

Hubby was just this morning complaining about all the bottles that I have in my bathroom. (Made the mistake of asking him to find something in there for me) I told him that I had to have all that stuff and that I wasn't naturally this beautiful! :D Now he won't complain if I buy MORE!

Had my test done today, and from what they could tell everything looks ok. I think they have come to the conclusion that is is IBS.. (when they can't find anything wrong, but you have symptoms they through you in this catagory).. "Being sick" has been my excuse of not exercising everyday, but it doesn't keep me from eating things I shouldn't eat. But after reading about IBS, stress is one of the major factors, (which I have in my job).. and we all know that EXERCISE is one of the best things for that. Like i said before, i'm getting off my butt and back on track.
Mooz - thanks for all the info on the water. I think we sometimes forget how important it is. I have definitely have to drink lots of water today, to flush out that barium drink I had to drink today..

Anywho, been drinking water like there's gonna be a shortage soon, and sticking to my 5k training. I've been visiting the
running web pages and lurking in some support groups. Lots of marathoners, which I certainly cannot fathom at this point. I mean, the winner of the Boston Marathon ran for like 2 hours. ****, I can't even do 2 minutes straight right now!:lol:
Remember the other day when I said it was springtime in the Rockies? Well... I lied. It WAS spring, not it's back to winter again! LOL!!! Nasty snow and stuff. Will have to break out the long johns to train tomorrow, or maybe run on the inside track at the Air Force Base.

It is maybe your body's way of saying to you "Hey you're not looking after me properly" So you know what you have to do - you start looking after yourself by eating good foods, drinking, (WATER PATTY) exercising and destressing and you can sort that body of yours out once and for all and as a bonus what a figure you will have !!!

good afternoon! I stayed home from work today. Some sort of stomach bug. I came home early yesterday and this AM I was all ready to go, took my younger son to school and headed out. Made it to the first stoplight and turned around :(
Spent most of the day cuddled up in the recliner with my quilt. I was fortunate to catch two good old movies too: A Summer Place with Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue, (one of my faves) and The Philadelphia Story with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and James Stewart. I love that one too.

I am feeling better today. On Wednesday I had eaten lunch at a restaurant (which I hate doing). I had a green salad and iced tea. I thought the iced tea tasted funny (sour or something) so after I drank most of it I switched to a diet soda. I think the tea was bad, and that's what got me. "shudder" My friend had a chicken taco salad with the optional hair on the side. (We will never eat there again) I told the waitress, so we got the senior citizens discount for our lunch, and free drinks. They were nice about everything, but still....
Am feeling better today, so back to the program.
Incidentally mooz, wtg on getting right back on that horse. I too have had bad days but just don't let it ruin your whole program, ya know? :p

Just dropping in for a quick hello. I'm working today and yesterday I went with my youngest to the eye doctor. He had messed up his cornea by wearing his contacts for too long without giving his eyes a rest. (I've been telling him for years that this was not a good thing) Anyway his regular eye dr sent him to a specialist so I wanted to go with him just in case. You know the over protective motherly type...yep that's me. Now he will not be able to wear contacts for at least a month (maybe even longer) and never be allowed to sleep in them anymore. But the good thing is that the dr didn't think there was any long term damage.
Did an hour of yoga yesterday morning before I left to meet him (college student) and did fair on eating yesterday. No exercise yet today.
Well back to the old grind. Have a great weekend.

Yesterday I did my run/walk inside at the Air Force Base. I really liked the track there, and the NO WIND thing was nice!;) Yesterday morning when I got there we were in the middle of some sleet/ice storm thing and I almost busted my gluts in the parking lot it was so slippery!!! Then I got up to the bldg and went to grab IT and it was just solid ice. Unreal!!
Today the sun is out.. there is some snow on the ground but the sun is out and it will be 40 today.

Semo - what would our kids do without us? My son came home from university on Friday with his eyes all bloodshot and I went to the local chemist and got drops for him as they seemed to have an infection. He is on Neotigason for a skin condition, that he has had for 7 years, and I was worried that it was it that was the tablets that were doing it as the side effects can be severe. I don't think mothers ever stop worrying about their kids!!
Patty, Taz and Billiesrosie - hope you are doing well and OP.
Jen - where are you - call and talk anytime you feel like it.
Mooz, if I may ask, Do you have PMS right now? I know I sometimes just hog out on M&M's and whatever else strikes my fancy at this time. And I *never* weigh myself during PMS week.

About the PMS, it's that time for me too, and I'm ashamed to tell this but yesterday I opened a container of chocolate icing and ate some of it (probably 3 tablespoons) I had to have chocolate and RIGHT THEN. I always do that right before time. I think I know how a drug addict feels.
I worked yesterday until 2:00 then went home and did absolutly nothing, just sat in a chair and watched tv. I think I've over exercised my brain last week.;)
I know I'm not posting much but our busy season only last a few months then I'll be back in full force.

Lauri - I can't even blame PMS as I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago although it probably stems from that as old habits die hard!!
Semo - you have been a naughty girl too but if we get right back on the wagon before too much damage is done then all is OK. We WILL get there. How are the wedding plans coming on? It's in May isn't it?

Mooz - I'm sorry to hear your feeling blue, but remember we all have good days and bad... If you slip up on eating, just get back on track. Slips-ups will happen, it's getting back on track that counts. Way to go on walking the 6 miles.

Mooz: just becasue you have had a hystorectomy doesn't mean you can't have PMS symptoms still. Many women still go through all the discomforts of menses for years after having the surgery. So you depression and general bules can be physical.
I hope you feel better real soon. I see you got in a good walk today, WTG!!! You are putting your best foot forward and I'm proud of you!!
Patty: Put the candy down and back away slowly and nobody will get hurt, namely you. Try really hard to make good choices in what you eat even when all your wild and crazy emotions are telling you otherwaise. I know you can do it, My money's on you girlfriend!

It is a beautiful day here and I am OP and I walked 4.5 miles yesterday and I have already walked 3 miles today. I weigh in tonight at WW and I am keeping my fingers ( and everything else) crossed that I have lost something. After Sunday I will be pleased if I even stay the same:o
T-girl - good for you staying OP as you will feel so much better for it especially when you have other things on your mind. Eating is one thing that you can be totally in control of. You have done so well in losing 3 POUNDS so you don't want to undo all that good work. The last thing you want is to be feeling more miserable because of your eating. Everything always seems worse at night anyway!!
Taz - So you think you can come over here and kick some butt too???!!!

Last night I did my training run/walk. And man, was it windy!!!
On the back stretch of the track the wind was full frontal, I felt like I was on a treadmill and not moving forward! LOL!!!

Good Morning Ladies! Yesterday did well on the eating but no exercise. I haven't gotten in the swing of all these hours working yet. It usually takes a couple of weeks but I feel my brain is FRIED right now. You know I'm sort of waiting for my second wind to arrive.:dizzy:

Gee, it's been a busy two days for me. Unfortunately my day has been busy with meetings & lunch meetings, & I did not make wise choices. Both nights I've stayed late at work, & by the time I got home, I really didn't feel like exercising. I did take the dog for a 1/2 mile walk. My busy time for work is about to end, and i'm going to start spending more time on me.
Mooz - WAY TO GO ON THE 1/2 pound loss. ANY loss is a good loss. Keep up your walking, you'll soon see the weight loss. Right now just enjoy the benefits of feeling healthier.

Lauri - Keep the training going, your so focused on the training that you won't notice the weight falling off...

hi all did you think i had dissapered, i went on a trip at the last minute with my hubby in the truck,been to calf. still on track tried to ride my bike yesterday it was like pedeling in a pool or something the wind was so strong only rode 20 min but it felt like an hour!lol lost two lbs last week. tami

I have just come in from linedancing and I should be in bed getting my beauty sleep!! I only walked 1 mile today as I spent the morning shopping with a friend.

Another busy day for me, and today was "Professional Assistance Day" so we took our assistance out for lunch, I did skip the dessert.. After work I went to the mall, got depressed looking at clothes, my normal routine is get depressed, stop & buy a cookie or two, but this time, I even passed on that. I came home and walked the dog, 1 mile tonight. Storms are coming so I headed back in. I wish our community center offered line dancing at night, that is something I would love to do. They offer it but it's during the day.

Hey everyone!! I am motivated about being OP, but other issues, are affecting me.. but anyways, i will get back up to being myself.. I got tae bo 2 yesterday, and i really enjoyed the first tape, it was pretty intense looked at tape 2, plan to do it tomorrow.. Well, one thing that keeps things running smooth, is that I do finally have control of everything that goes in my mouth!! Good Morning Ladies! Yesterday was terrible here, we had tornados all around us. One flatten a subdivision of 30 houses in a town about 45 min west of us, cars overturned on the highways. Thankfully no deaths but several injuries. Warnings were issued most of the day from noon until 9 pm with many funnels spotted and a few touch downs. So scary, we don't even have sirens here to give any warnings. So most of my day was spent looking out at the sky, the older I get the more frighten I get of storms.
Ate terrible yesterday too, nerves I guess. But atlas today is a new day and a new beginning.:)
Need to run but wanted to check in. Have an on program day!

Semo - I can relate, we had storms & tornadoes here two weeks ago. It can be very nerve wrecking. Luckily we do have the sirens and the tv is wonderful... They can tell you what areas the storms are headed and even what time. This is our tornado season, so I just keep a blanket, flashlight, bottlewater & a pair of ole tennis shoes in the spare bathroom. Just in case I have to get up in the middle of the night. I don't know if your town has the radio scanners. A friend of mine has one & she listens to those storm chasers. I know she got her at Radio Shack.. I'm glad to hear your safe though.
Mooz - Hopefully we'll hear from Jen... Sometimes are lives do get so busy..& with a small child & being byherself, missing her husband, that can be overhelming.
T-girl - good to hear from you... Sounds like you have got it under control. Stay focused.. you can do it..

Good Morning and TGIF, (and I think it's Friday for me too) it's pretty wet so I don't think I'll be working this weekend. Yea!! I feel great today and sounds as if every one else is too! ;) I have to go to the caters tomorrow and check everything for the rehersal dinner. Mostly to see what type of decorations/flowers are needed. The wedding is getting close - May 25th.
T-girl, I just noticed on your location that you are soon moving to Virginia? Beening transfered? I hated living away from home when I was younger but think that it would be exciting now. You just need to remember this is an adventure.
Boss is in my office checking invoices, so guess I better get off here before he figures out what I'm doing. :lol:

Just a quick call as I do not have a lot of time on a Saturday morning - lots of washing to do for my two 'kids' home from University for the weekend. I think they just come home to get rested, fed and clothes washed and off they go again for another hard week of studying!!(and if you believe that you'll believe anything!!)
I am eating OP and walked 4 miles yesterday. I really need to up my H20 as it helps to ward off hunger.

TRYING TOO HARD
When you visualize yourself as trying to do something, you're going to see it as a struggle. Yet when you visualize yourself as actually doing it, naturally and easily, beyond the trying, you'll have the genuine confidence to get it done.
Stop trying so hard and simply start to get it done. Stop striving and struggling against your own negative assumptions and start following your positive possibilities.
Remove the word "trying" from your vocabulary, and notice how much that one simple change can clarify your activities. Rather than saying or thinking, "I'm trying to get this work done" see what happens when you say "I'm confidently getting this work completed."
It makes a huge difference in your perspective. It helps you to see each action not as a desperate attempt, but rather as confident step forward.
When you're only trying, you're taking action without being fully committed to that action. When you decide to step up and actually do it, then you're committing yourself to taking whatever action is necessary.
Go beyond merely trying -- get up and get busy doing.

Hi ladies!!! I'm here!! Man, have I been busy!! We moved our practice from a single building to the 5th floor of the hospital on Thursday and Friday. We were closed for patients, but the phones and computers were up and running by 11:00 on Thursday. I got to wear blue jeans both days, which ALWAYS makes it easier to go in to the office LOL! I am going in for awhile today to help with last minute stuff like hanging pics and things like that.
We actually had about 6 pts walk in (which ticks me off anyway, I mean, do we look like the free clinic?) wanting to see a doc and I finally hung a sign on the door that said we were closed so GO AWAY. ;) I swear, sometimes people just wear me out! Is it me or do people have more nerve now than ever? Anyway, enough complaining. I will see you all later. I think I have PMS LOL!!!
Trying to stay OP under stress is not easy LOL!! Will go run this off later today, inside. It's not very warm outside.

good morning ladies! Today is my first day at our new office. I have a feeling it will be a zoo. We are doing alot of things different. I'm usually pretty easy, but some of those I work with are not. I can see the twitching eyelids even as i type this...
(I wonder how many calories that burns?:lol: )
Anywho, I went to the gym on Saturday AND Sunday. It wasn't too cold out, but the wind was just unreal. I don't know if you all know but I live in one of the windiest areas of the US of A. It's hard for me to run in, when the wind is blowing 35 mph. It takes my breath away, literally. Once I reach my mileage, I can give it a shot...

Hi girls. This is the first time I've visited the boards in weeks. I am SO touched that you guys were worried about me. So much has been happening.
If you recall, I had been trying to lose weight before I went and saw my DH. Well, now that is only a week away. I'm still down 5 pounds since he left, but I had been down 13. Here's what happened... I did it all. I journaled, I drank the water, I exercised, I stayed between 1400-1600 calories a day. I checked over my journal entries just to make sure that I was honest to god on track, and not fooling myself. I was doing everything just as I was supposed to. So then I stopped losing. I didn't give up. I figured it was water weight or something. Then, the next week I gained a pound. I didn't give up. I figured I must be building muscle and losing inches. Then the next week I gained 2 pounds. At this point I was furious. I measured myself, and the only place I lost an inch was in my chest. I figured if I was gonna gain weight, than I was going to eat what I wanted to eat. I haven't gone back to my old ways of eating, but I'm not OP either.
I guess I'm sick of my weight ruling my life. I'm constantly obsessed by it, whether it be how much I'm gaining, or how much I'm losing. I'm a size 16/18. That's what I am. There's nothing wrong with that, though the fashion world would have me think otherwise. If they don't like it, they can cram it.
Not to mention, I've just had so many other things happening in my life right now that I don't have the time to obsess about myself anymore. I'm one exhausted mama.
I'm flying out in 1 week to see my DH....FINALLY!! I'm dissapointed that I won't look better, but quite frankly, after 10 weeks of not gettin' any I'd look good to him if I showed up in a bathrobe and curlers. :lol:

Good Afternoon Ladies
It's a beautiful day here in BIG D. It's suppose to get to 90 today... The weather has been playing havoc on my allergies. One day it's 60 the next it's 80. I stayed in pretty much this weekend, due to sneezing, running eyes etc. But today i'm feeling somewhat better. I did really good on my food this weekend. I still need to work on drinking the H2O.
Jen - It's good to hear from you. I'm sure you hubby is looking forward to seeing you too. Stay in touch, I know things gets hetic, just remember we're here for ya.
Mooz - Can i bring my dirty clothes to you. I still go to my mom's house for some good home cooking. Luckily she only 20 minutes away from me. Way to GO on your walking. I'm trying to pick up my pace. I"m only doing about 2 miles a day.
Lauri - Way to go on going to the gym. I still have some of my personal belongings in boxes from my last move. It's been close to 2 years. (Do you think I still need them if there still boxed up?) I"m a pack rat:lol: How about them MAVERICKS...

hey all! I did do my tae bo kinda late last night, but I fit it in. I walked early this am , it is scorching out there!!Jen, just hang in there, I know it is hard, and sometimes plateus just come and stay awhile.. Just keep at what you are doing, dont give up,,!!! Just a very quick check in, I hardly have time to go to the bathroom these days, but I'm still drinking water.:D At least when I do get to the bathroom I don't have to answer the phone.
All is going well, I ended up working most of the day Saturday and then went to look at the banquet room for the rehersal dinner. Pretty ugly. I'm trying to come up with something that's not too expensive for table decorations. There are eight- 8 foot tables. Any suggestions. My friend that went with me suggested plastic champane glasses filled with colored water then floating candles. I bought those and some silver confetti and ice cycles to sprinkle on the tables plus silver ribbon to tie the glasses with. But still think that I need something more.

Gee, I went to the doctor's yesteday & I have a sinsus infection. I got some meds & stayed home today so I could sleep. I'm feeling much better now. Boy, I turned 40 last November & I feel like i'm falling apart. I didn't exercise today or yesterday, but I did walk the dog 1 mile.
Semo - I'm not a very creative person, but I went to a wedding a while back & on the tables, they had the glasses with floating candles & then had rose petals on the table. It was pretty.
Mooz - Shame on you for not going to WW. Your suppose to go whether you lose or not. Plus you still have to pay dont you? We do here, we have to pay for miss weeks.
T-girl - I'm with you, if i have it in the house, I just can't seem to eat sweets or goodies in moderation.

Doing better on eating, yesterday I was so hungry didn't think I was gonna make it home. Then I ate a bowl the size of a small dishpan full of salad.:D
Patty, if you think you're falling apart at forty, wait until you hit the 50's.....it's a down hill slide alright.. everything slides down, boobs, butt, face, etc, but that's why we have to exercise.

Today i'm feeling much better... the meds are kicking in...
I'm having to drink lots of water though. I'm OP & feeling good..
Tonight I plan on either walking on the treadmill or pulling out the ol tae-bo.
Semo - Can you bring some type of snack to the office, that way your not starving on your way home. I have some small applesauce in 1/2 cup servings that I keep up here at the office. Sometimes I have one right before I leave the office, that way I'm not tempted to stop & buy something.
Mooz - How are you doing? Did you take your walk today?
Lauri - Hope the new office is getting settled. How is the running going?
Jen - Hope your doing ok?

Our WW leader doesn't make us pay for a missed week as long as we phone her before the meeting and tell her or leave a message saying so. She probably wouldn't like us to do it too often though.

Good Evening Ladies
After work I took my dog to the vet. He's having some skin problems (dry skin), & i wanted to get him checked again. Anyway, when we were there I went ahead & weighted him. He has gained 5 lbs since November... Ok... he normally weights 33-35 lbs. which is not much, but he now weights 41 lbs. I thought to myself... ok...it's bad enough i'm overweight,... but shame on me for giving him to many treats. I told the vet that in the winter months we stopped walking (too cold, to dark etc. too many excuses...) anyway I told the vet we are starting our routine of walking again. So tonight I walked 2 miles, he walked 1. Tomorrow is my weight in.. kinda of nervous... I feel like I have been eating well, but today I had some popcorn & I know there was way too much salt on it... So i'm trying to drink lots of water..I'm also trying to eat more veggies.
Mooz - Your so lucky that your leader does not charge. Our charges if you miss unless your in the hospital. WAY TO GO ON your 4 mile walk & your linedancing. Keep that up and you'll see the pounds just melt away...
T-girl - I'm going to to the Tae-bo in the morning.

hi girls!! Sorry I've been incognito LOL!! The move went smoothly for us, but half the people who came in to the office were pissed that we had moved, but having mad patients is not anything new.
I am stressed, I don't like to be verbally abused, and some days I bite back, but in a subtle way, so ignorant people don't catch it.
:lol: Anyway... the running helps. I am following the couch to 5k plan at kicksports.com and I am on week 3. Thanks for your support. Today is a workout day. Tuesday I went to the gym on my lunch hour. I will do the same today. It seemed to work out, plus it helps work off the stress.
SEMO, I am hip about not having to answer the phones. Our phones ring nonstop from 8-5, literally. When I get home the LAST thing I want to do is talk on the phone.
1 day, I hope you are feeling better sweetie. Sinus infections are horrid.
One of the new girls at work called in yesterday because her daugher has strep throat, then the woman brings her daughter in to the OFFICE to pick up her paycheck. HELLO!!!!!! To an office full of pregnant women?
Gosh, sorry I'm being so nasty. People have been irritating me a lot lately.
Oh, here's some good stuff: my 8th grade son is playing his guitar in the talent show tonight at school. He will be playing Our National Anthem. I am so proud!! I will probably bawl and embarrass him half to death LOL!! (I always get choked up when that plays, even before 9/11.)

I feel better today. Yesterday I did my training run and I was really ON! My program for this week is to run for 90 seconds, walk for 90 seconds, twice, then run 3 min and walk 3 min, twice. And I did it!!!!!! Three minutes doesn't seem like much, but it truly is.
When I ran over the line I pretended i was winning the Boston Marathon LOL!!!
I guess I'd better put some clothes on for work. Frankly I'd rather go in my pj's. LOL!

Good Morning Ladies -
Last night I walked 2.5 miles.., and this morning I was up again at 5:15 for some tae-bo. Just 2 days & I can feel it... I'm also doing some stomach crunches...we'll with one of thos ab-doer... Had one sitting in the corner, just collecting clothes..:D I was OP yesterday & drank over 88 oz of water... The weekend will be hard... I seem to be a couch potatoe on weekends... But not this one... I plan to do something each day...
Mooz - WAY TO GO on your 6 mile walk... and 2 hrs of linedancing... YOU GO GIRL... I just love to dance, I"m not any good, but I just luv it.. Hey my dog is learning to stay away from me when I do the tae-bo... this morning he was runnning around with me... and I was doing a back kick...and he got in the way.. hopefully he learned his lesson:smug:
Lauri - I sure wish we could be there when you do cross the line...we'd we yelling & cheering for you. I have never been able to run, my knee always gives out...Sounds like your on your way.. YOU GO GIRL..

It's been a busy day. I went looking at kennels most of the morning. I'm planning on kenneling my dog in July & I wanted to check some out. I have stayed OP today but I have not drank all my water. It's so much easier during the week when I have that water bottle on my desk. As far as exercise, I have only gotten 1 mile in, that was walking my dog. If i don't do tae-bo toight, then I'll have to work harder tomorrow.

Hey, guys. I was wondering if it was o.k. for me to join your group? I would love to have a way to discuss my successess and failures re: exercising with other people.
Lately I have been in an exercising rut. My goal is to get going tomorrow. It's kinda late tonight to start. (It's midnight.) Anyway, long story, short -- I have usually been thin, but now something just cracked (well, i cracked), and I cannot follow a diet or get my behind to the gym. I used to work out all the time and watch what I ate. I even had a life!!! But over the past year and a half, I just feel like I cannot get enough to eat and that working-out is the last thing on my mind. In one year and 1/2, I have gained 70 lbs!!!! It's horrible! I used to be pretty and thin and (sorta happy). Now I am just fat, lazy, and ugly!
So, anyway, I would love to be able to chat with others who are challenging themselves to work-out.

Do you graduate this year? Is it very stressful for you? My son is graduating from university this year, hopefully, and I know he has been stressed out this last couple of years.
Have you tried walking? I walk every day and I am addicted to it now. You could start by walking for 10 mins and then turning and walking home again - that will get you started.
Do you drink enough water? We very often think our bodies need food when it is really needing water.
Patty - I don't think I could walk the 7 miles all at once - I did it in three walks through the day - 2,2,&3.
T-girl - CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 1.5 POUND LOSS. You are doing great!!

bubble gum: welcome to our group!!! We are all doing different forms of exercises and I think different diet plans.
Mooz, Sam's Club is a warehouse store that you have to buy food in bulk. They everything from food to appliances to computer equipment to movies. It's huge and it's fun to shop at.
I buy my sons' lunch stuff there: chips, juice, twinkies.
They also have good prices on paperback books (which you can buy one at a time)
Did I confuse you? I hope not. I am eating some yogurt and fixing to go outside for a jog. IT appears nice and NOT windy. NOT windy is always a plus in these parts LOL!
Today I need to finish up laundry and a doily I'm crocheting for my friend.

Welcome Bubble gum We are happy to have your join our forum. My only advise is not to try and do everything at once "drink the water, exercise, diet" . Do it in small steps, so it's not so overwhelming. Like Mooz said start with a 10 min walk, then increase. The one thing you should definitely start doing is drinking more water.
T-girl - Hey maybe your body just needed a day of rest. That is how I would look at it. But today is monday and it's time to get back in the swing. My goal is to do tae-bo 4 times this week, in the am..
Mooz - Breaking up the walk is great. I might try walking 1 mile at lunch & that would add to my day's walk.
Semo - Hope you had a wonderful time in Nashville..

We'll for me. I did not exercise yestereday (sunday), I too had a lazy day. There were bad storms all night & my dog kept me up from 2:30am to 5:00am... he was barking in the other room..
But I was OP & i'm still having to work on drinking the water on the weekends. I did get up this morning and did the basic TAE-BO.. Thursday is my weight in day... Hope to see results...

It's a beautiful morning here today and I am in control of my food. I walked nearly 3 miles last night and 2 this morning. I still have not made up my mind whether to go to WW tonight or not!!

Where do you find your motivational sayings? Is there one web site? or several?
I don't normally train on Mondays, but what a day I had at work!
I did about 1 1/2 miles after supper around the neighborhood. And let me tell you, I enjoyed that. Way better than running in circles for 20 minutes!!! :D
Also, I love iced tea, so on Saturday I bought de-caf tea bags and made some. Very good!!!! I filled a couple of my water bottles and took them to work. Breaks the monotony of the water, plus the only caffeine I had yesterday was in my morning 3 cups of coffee.

Good Evening Ladies
Today was a hard day, went to a work trade show & they had all kinds of goodies at the vendor's tables (candy)...I did real good then towards the end of the day when I was tired I ended up eating about 4 pieces (small ones)...I overslept this morning, so I didn't do my tae-bo, & I just got home so I only walked the dog 1 mile. Tomorrow will be a better day.
Mooz - Don't you just love it when your in control of your food. It just makes me feel soo good. I know that is a hard decision on whether or not to go back to Ww. I need the accountability, but either way let us know what you decide to do.
Lauri - Way to go on getting your 1.5 miles in. I just love tea in the summer. I have to limit myself to 2 glasses due to the caffine. What brand of decaf are you using? Lipton?
T-girl - Glad to hear your back in control. I just love the Kashi Go lean. Are you mixing it plain yogurt? or vanilla? I don't like the plain, but mixed with Kashi, that might help.

GOOD MORNING CHICKS!!
I have decided to weigh my self every Wednesday at home in the morning as that is when I am at my lightest. I will still follow the WW points system and I get all the motivation from this thread and the '40 something moving and losing' thread.
I have not walked today yet as I was away for a sort of interview. We have 'home helps' here who go to say elderly people's houses to make them their breakfast or lunch or do some light housework or shopping. They are short staffed at the moment so I said I would be interested and I had to talk a lady about the job. I will just be covering sick leave and holidays at the minute and then later I could go for a proper interview for a permanent part-time job. It is so nerve racking just thinking about it!!
Patty - it is hard when you are tired and hungry and all those goodies are calling out to you. I think you did well in not overeating on them and you are back on track again so you are fine. We can't be perfect all the time!!
T-girl - you are back to your old self again - OP and Tae boing and that is great.
Semo - hope the wedding is all going according to plan - call in when you can.

Patty, way to go on not pigging out totally. I know sometimes it's hard. When we were moving our office they must have spent a fortune on food for us... pizza, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, chinese food (which made me ill, that'll learn me LOL)
I buy the Lipton decaf. I make sun tea with it. And I love it because I don't need to limit myself.
tgirl, thanks for the veg info. We try to eat vegetarian once a week. What's Kashi? I like to buy low or non fat vanilla yogurt and put blueberries or strawberries in it. Like the McDonalds parfait, but cheaper. The McD parfait (without the cereal) is only 5 WW points. If you add the granola in its still only 7.
It's supposed to be chilly today and windy. Curses!!!! I'll have to go to the gym instead of running outside. booooooring!!

Hi girls, I can't believe it's Wednesday already..... I've been so busy that I've hardly had time to potty. LOL We worked like crazy all weekend at the new house (let me tell you that I am aware of muscles that I didn't know I had) Came home Sunday night and had drop in company, and Monday and Tuesday nite had to go to town after working late both nites (the guys worked all weekend including Sunday so I was swamped when I got back). Leaving to go back to Nashville tomorrow after work, future DIL's graduation. So that about wraps up my week. After the weekend I should be back to posting. I'll get caught up reading the post and hopefully things will get back to my normal boring life by the first of June. Love you guys and have a great one.

This morning I got up and did the Live Tae-bo basic tape.. My legs are hurting today & I also did my stomach crunches. My weigh in is tomorrow. I just hope I show a loss.
Mooz - We are all here to help support & motivate you with your goals. With your daily walking & line dancing you can succeed. And your right about weighting in the the morning my weigh in is at noon & I have to be careful not to eat anything with sodium & I stop drinking my water by 10:00am..
Semo - Good to hear from you. Sounds like you have got a very busy month. How are you doing on your food? & drinking water?
Lauri - OMG.. I would of died laughing, sitting on your dad's lap... That is something she'll never forget either.. Hopefully you'll get some better weather. When is your run again?
T-girl - Hope your tae-boing today... I tried the "live Basic" .. it was different, they did not have the side kicks (killer)... I"m going to try and alternate so I don't get bored.
Kashi is a ceral with lots of grains a 3/4 cup has like 8 grams of protein... I believe it's soy. You can find at most health food stores & even our Walmart carries it. There are different kinds... Kashi go lean, kashi healthy, kashi crunch. They have a web site too.

It is raining here today but I am in control even if I did have some hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream last night!!!!My hubby was 50 yesterday and he didn't want a party so we just had a cake to celebrate and I had saved up points for it so I enjoyed it!!

I'm happy to say I have lost 2.2 lbs. You know what, journaling & exercise really do pay off. This morning I was so tired, I really did not want to get up and exercise but I did & tomorrow morning I have a date with Billy Blanks again.
Mooz - Way to go saving your points for your cake. If you plan ahead & bank your points, it's ok to have splurges like this. I'm going to bank some points for this sunday's dinner. Where did you find the girl running? That is so cute. I'm trying to send some motivation tips or 1 liners to some friends here at work.

For Receptionists Day, my docs gave me a $25 dollar gift certificate for the mall, so yesterday I bought a new dress at Sears to wear to a banquet I had to go to last night. (don't worry it was NCO club food, nothing worth writing home about. I had a bite of some beefy stuff that looked like cardboard and some carrots and iced tea.)
Patty, I have found that even if I don't feel like working out, once I start, I am so glad I did.

Good Morning Ladies
I did not get my morning exercise in. Last night we had terrible storms & I was up again with my dog...(he get in a panic state... constant barking & pacing)...I had got some meds from the vet to give him & they calmed him down a bit, but did not put him to sleep... So i'm calling the vet again today & seeing if I need something stronger. This is the 3rd day in a row with storms...
ANYWAY... I will pick up the pace tonight.
Mooz - WAY to go on walking 5 miles. You have been increasing your miles... YOU GO GIRL..and your linedancing 2 hours... that is wonderful....
Lauri - Your right about the exericse. I don't know if i'll ever love exercising, but I do feel great once I begin & afterwards I feel really good about myself. WAY TO GO on getting into a size 8.... I can't wait til I get get in a size 12 comfortable...
T-girl - I looked at my journal & did tae-bo 5 times during the last 7 days... So my goal for next Thursday is to do it 5 times again....

GOOD EVENING CHICKS!! I am OP and I walked 8 miles yesterday even though I was feeling a bit lightheaded most of the day. I have started to take my iron again as I think that could be the problem. So far today I have walked 3 miles and I am going for another at 8.30.

Patty - hope the storms have calmed by now. I think the American sizes are different from the UK sizes. I am mostly a 16 but sometimes I can get into a 14. I would really like to be a 12!!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!! My sons and husband are taking me to the movies today to see Spiderman. I love movies like that. I told them they were lucky or they'd be taking me to see some chick flick LOL!!!
Yesterday I rode my bicycle for about half an hour. I have two blisters on my left heel (they are popped) so I didn't run yesterday.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY Hope you all had a wonderful day. We took my mom out yesterday for dinner... I did so well on ordering my food. I skipped the rolls & dessert & when my meal came, I only ate half & saved the rest for today. I did not get any walking in yesterday or today, but I did mow the lawn, & that has to count for something...OH, I did get tae-bo in yesterday.
Mooz - You have been on such a roll with your walking. You have been increasing your miles. Be sure & take that iron pill daily... We don't want to passing out on one of your walks. I know I'm always forgetting to take my vitamins, so I bought another bottle & have one at work too. Do you all celebrate Mother's Day?
Lauri - Ouch... I bet those blisters hurt... Let us know what you think about Spiderman.

hiya gals!!! The movie was great! I love action movies. I was never into the whole Spiderman comic thing (I read Archie), but it was really good. Toby Maguire is a cutie pie!
I walked up to the grocery and back yesterday for some potatoes(a little over a mile total). I also cleaned out my car and trunk. Very messy from when we moved our office and I had put all the stuff from my desk drawers in my car. Then my hubby put in my new speakers (I had blown the old ones out last year on Sheryl Crow LOL) and washed the outside for me.
He also gave me my very own cell phone. (I hate when I'm at work wandering around and the kids can't reach me) Oh, and my older son did the laundry for me. Gosh, do I have a great bunch of guys or what?? :D :D :D

Hi girls, geez I've missed you all. We're on the count down now and it will soon be over (May 25th) Not only has work been absolutely wild but I've also been trying to tie up loose ends on several things for the kids. Have a hair cut appt tomorrow after work so It won't be too short for the wedding.
I am just eating everything in site and haven't done any exercise to amount to anything. UGH. I did finally get a day off yesterday and ended up cleaning house all day long. The Nashville kids came in yesterday about 5:30 (they had to get their marriage license this morning) and we met our youngest son for dinner out last night.
The only thing that I have lost in the last few weeks has been my motivation. However you guys sound as if you are on top of everything and doing quite well. Yea for you all!!! I'm only slightly jealous..... (can't help it) But you just wait until I get things lined out again......you will marvel at the new me!

If the challenge seems a bit too overwhelming, that's the one you want. Take it on and let it pull you up. Do what you can do, again and again, and what you can do will truly amaze you.
Semo - Sounds like you need to take a few minutes for yourself. I know the wedding can be hetic, & there are lots of dinners out... But try and make the best choice. At least you only have 1 more week to go...

As for me... my sinsus have been bothering me again. It's this weather...& I did not get up and do my tae-bo... But I did walk 2.5 miles last night... My goal for tonight is to either do the tae-bo or walk 3 miles. Also this morning was running late for a meeting & I did not eat my breakfast before the meeting & they had these big ol cinnamon rolls & muffins... I ended up eating 1/2 of a cinnamon roll:nono: , I have not looked up points, but i'm sure it will cost me 8-10 pts... so i guess I really need to do both tae-bo & walk huh?

hey all, been op pretty good had a few low fat oreos, but compromised with them and dinner.. Well I also did my own weight workout, and it was fun targeted my bad areas and found out how much stronger they are in comparison to 2 months ago!1 Hurray!! How is everyone?? We'll I ended up walking 3 miles last night. Tomorrow is my weigh in & I just ate some lays baked chips... to me they are so salty... so i'll have to drink lots of water..
T-girl - I haven't tried the lowfat oreos. I'm afraid to try them.. I'll end up eating the whole bag. I went shopping sunday & found the Ww ice cream sundae's, they are only 2 pts... there not as good as Blue Bell but they satisfied my sweet tooth.
Lauri - I just wish I could ride my bike to work. I think I would pack my skirt & wear pants... That is a good way to get some exercise in & not even realize it's exercise..

Sorry I missed posting yesterday - I had posted on another thread earlier and meant to go back to do this one but it didn't happen. I lost 1 pound when I weighed in on Wed so I am pleased with that. On the other hand I was at a presentation last night and had a glass of wine and some nibbles which I could well have done without!!
I walked 3 miles after it and then went linedancing for 2 hours. I have already been for a 2 mile walk this morning and the sun is shining and it was so warm:cool: This is not the time for hiding under a coat!! We have to do this so that we feel good showing off our figures - RIGHT??

Lauri - good for for getting on your bike - I could never get the hang of riding a bike as I was always too nervous!!Glad you liked the websites.

Patty, I was thinking the same thing! When I was a teenager before I had my drivers license I used to ride my bike or walk EVERYWHERE!. Never gave a thought to how far it might be, or that I was getting exercise.

We'll it was my weight in today, and i'm a little disappointed. I gained .2 lbs, and I did everything right this past week. I haven't tae-bo as much as I wanted but I have been walking. I need to just stay focused and to pick back up with the tae-bo. I think it's probably water weight cause my rings are tight, but nevertheless it's disappointing when you work so hard and have a gain...
Ok... enough of the boo-hoo... I will see a loss next week...

Patty - don't be worried about your little gain - with all the walking and Tae-Bo and keeping OP you will soon see the pounds disappear!! If you are retaining fluid the answer is supposed to be - drink more water! - so I am told anyway.
good morning chickies!!! I can't wait to go camping. Work has been so stressful with the new office and we have a new phone system, which is actually better, but we have more calls coming in, same amount of people working... We will be starting our new computer system full time in a month.
Oh, and the people who can't find our office.. good grief. And of course since I am the receptionist, I wear a sign that says "feel free to verbally abuse me no matter what"...
I will try and do the best I can over the weekend. If you're actually in the woods and you eat fattening food will the scale know? LOL!!! I am taking my running shoes, so I can check out the trails and keep up with my exercise. You all have a good weekend!!!

It has been a busy weekend. The weather here was so beautiful. I didn't do as good as I should of... I did not get in any tae-bo in. But did get some walking.
T-girl - Way to go on your 2 lb loss. Did you get food poisoning or was it more of eating high fattening food? I noticed that now that I'm trying to make better choices, when I do eat high-fat foods my stomach get upset easier.
Mooz - Way to go on your walking & making good food choices.

i'm a great one for signs so when i saw the last message was from someone with the same username as me i thought i'll join this forum or whatever they are called.
i started my diet last monday and i have lost 4.4Ibs, i know thats because its the first week and all but i am happy, i also started going back to the pool which is a big step as i'm 107kilos and i feel so self- conscious, i'm sure everyone is looking at me, you know that horrible feeling. I need a good kick in the !!! to get going at the best of times so that is why i'm here, if you have any tips to get out the door i would be very grateful.

Onedayatatime - A BIG WELCOME TO YOU - we are always glad to have new members as we are a small group and could do with some more input. Hope to see you posting here everyday as I feel that is what keeps us motivated. CONGRATULATIONS on losing 4.4 pounds - that is a great start. I walk a lot and I am now addicted to it. I would advise you to try and walk for say 10 mins and then turn and come home. Try and do this every day and then gradually increase your time and before you know it you will be addicted to it too!!
Patty - this is confusing having 2 gals with the same name!! I think you are right that when we eat the wrong foods our body does not like it and lets us know!!
Semo - the wedding is getting close now!! you must be so busy!! Hope all goes well.

Does the fear of rejection hold you back? Are you so concerned about what others might think or say or feel about you that it keeps you from taking positive action?
Rejection hurts only when you allow it to hurt, and there's no reason whatsoever for you to allow it to hurt. If someone says no to you, or if someone says something negative about you, that does not change anything about who you are.
The words, actions and opinions of others have no real bearing on your worth as a person. Certainly it is helpful and desirable to make a good impression whenever you can, yet it's not the end of the world when you experience rejection.
When you set out to make a true and substantial positive difference, there will be those who disagree with you, those who ignore you, and those who flat out reject what you're doing. Look beyond them and keep your focus on what you've decided to accomplish.
It's great to have positive feedback, but it simply does not always happen. That's okay, though, because you know where you're headed and you know that your true worth does not depend on the judgment of others. Go confidently forward, do what you know must be done, and let others think what they will.

Just sharing something with you that I came across on the net - I found it very moving!!
Life sometimes gives you a second chance.
One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd."
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes.
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives."
He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends. He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors, we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak. Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him. Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. "Thanks," he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began. "Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years; your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach, but mostly your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story."
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. "Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize its depth.
Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse.
God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others.

Ten Steps to Busting Your Habits

Good morning! Camping was great!! It's always like a mini vacation. For lunch on Saturday I had fresh rainbow trout, courtesy of my husband.
I did a 30 min walk around the campground. I didn't want to run because the road is gravel and I could just see myself twisting an ankle. My ankles are easily twisted LOL.
So, here I am back in the real world now.:p
We will not camp this weekend due to everyone ELSE camping.
(mooz it's Memorial Weekend, and with July 4th and Labor Day in September, these are the three busiest times at campgrounds)
I have to go dry my hair, so I will catch everyone later.

My legs are hurting me today. A friend let me borrow her tae-bo live tape (basic).. & it was hard. There was a lot of ab work & legs. My legs are very sore right now. I think I might go back to my basic tomorrow.
Lauri - Glad you had a great time. Last time I went camping I took my bike and just went for long rides. Your right about the campgrounds, it will be packed. I'm going to stay around the house & hopefully shampoo my carpets... (I live a exciting life huh?)
Mooz - Thank for the 10 steps tips... I have got to learn # 10.. Be patience. I have patience with people, just not with my weight loss.

The weather is terrible this morning - wet and windy.I walked 2 miles yesterday and was linedancing for 2 hours for the patients at the MS centre. It makes you think when you see people much younger than you in wheelchairs. There was one lady there who was only in her early 30's and she has 4 wee kiddies.
Patty - you keep up the good work now because you seem to have been in much better form since you started your WOL plan!!
T-girl - glad to see you back to your old self!!
Lauri - glad to hear you had a great weekend - it must have been so nice just to get away from it all.

At the moment i am doing 1hour at the pool two days a week, when i get there i am very jolly and afterwards i feel a great sense of achievement. The problem is although i know these things i sometimes find it hard to get out of the door, i really don't understand it, to be honest.

This weekend my husband and I are building a wooden deck on our house. Provided the weather cooperates. Right now the wind is howling outside and will not let up. On Sunday I will, of course, be watching the Indy 500.
Patty, I love the way my house used to look when I'd shampoo my carpets. So clean.... I don't have carpet anymore because I developed allergies to who knows what and I am less sneezy with wood floors. I spent a couple of hours with an allergist a couple of years ago, getting poked and prodded and never did come up with a culprit. How wierd is that?
Well, gotta go get ready for work, ugh...

Today has been a good day so far. I'm planning on taking off thursday & friday (vac), that will give me 5 days off... I will definitely have to journal these next few days. I seem to forget about healthy choices around holidays...
Lauri - Wow, I wish I had a hubby that could do carpentry work. Hope you get some good weather.
To the other 1day - You might want to add your name at the bottom, that way we can address you by name... I'm patty by the way.. Way to go on swimming 1 hour. I don't think i'll ever like exercising, but they say to tell yourself just do it for 10 min. & if you still don't want to you can quite. We'll supposedly after 10 min. more than likely you'll continue. Sometimes that works for me and every once in a while I do stop at 10 min.
Mooz - Sorry to hear that your having bad weather. Way to go on going out & walking 2 miles... and 2 hrs linedancing.. YOU GO GIRL... It does make you think about your health when you see others who have so many problems. Diabetes runs in my family, and I don't want to get that. So I really have to work at not gaining any more weight..

Hi girls! Just a quick drop in to say hello. Well, rehearsal dinner decorations are all made and my dress is pressed and hanging ready to slip into. Mamma is starting to feel a little sad.....:( I'm no longer going to be the MOST important woman in my son's life. No really his wife to be is a sweet heart and all I want is for both to be very happy but yet I do feel a little sad.

Wonder how Jen is and I know she's glad to see her hubby.
I'm working Monday, no holiday for us. Our weather has been so crazy. Lots of flooding around too. Farmers get one or two good days then it rains again.
It's funny that you all were talking about shampooing carpets....Guess what I did the last two afternoons.....right. Think that we have this special sisterhood thing going on. ;)

Oh my, what a relief, had my first LMT< massage, and it was the best, !! I was all sore from weight lifting and stuff, plus TOM swelling, and this is what I need around this time every month, ( but dont know if I will be able to afford it, this was a gift!!) Well anyways I am thankful , after that, had to push fluids so took the day off from mr blanks. I am OP thought ,hey anyone traied Tai fit, that is prob another reason i am so sore!! I tell ya it moves fast, wanted to add a little variation so I got it. Well hope all is well tom is my weigh in, TTFN ladies, take care.

hello everyone!! Imm get to the questions first, Patty, Tai fit, I bought at this bookstore called Hastings, well it is a bookstore/video store . I like tae bo better, because it is not as it, and I can stay with tae bo too, I was struggling with the tai fit, so i figured to do it once a week and build up, but tae bo is my main aerobics workout, Also when he gave me my massage, he was helping to relax me, and pull the lactic acid buildup out, so I had to drink lots of hydrating fluids to flush it out . If not, I would have been sore, and sick from what the massage therapist said, the results last for 4-6 weeks!! I feel soooo energetic!! I did not lose any weight this week, but gained .5 lbs, I did increase the weights, so maybe that is why, Oh well just gonna keep goin, ya know. Gotta keep on, !! well everyone, got my tae bo in early and I am feeling great!! hope you all have a wonderful op weekend!! TTFN..

I have not called for a day or two as my computer was down for a while but it is sorted now - it was something to do with the McAfee Antivirus programme- it was stalling on it. My brother had to uninstall it.

Good Moring Ladies. I have just joined this site and am looking forward talking with you girls about weight. I have been on WW for 4 weeks and lost 8 pounds. I walk but only bout 2 miles as I have had foot surgery. My biggest problem is I LOVE FOOD. Nothing better than a good Mexican Dinner. I now save that for once a month. I volunteer in a Hospital I am a cuddler for the babies in the NICU unit. I Live in california am married with 3 grown girls. I do not call them my Kids they are my Adult Relatives LOL. I have 2 grandchildren ( the apple of my Eyes)

Welcome Spkrleyes37 - Way to go on your 8 lb loss... That is great.. I bet that is a great job, getting to hold those newborn babies... There is nothing wrong with eating a Mexican Dinner, it just making the right choices. Instead of the chips they bring to the table have corn torillas. You can order fajitas, & ranchero beans. On Ww you can have most anything, it's just you have to count the points. Maybe you could bank some points before your night out?
Mooz - Way to go on your 5 mile walk. Glad to hear your computer is back up.
We'll I going to cut it short today... Last thursday & friday I was cleaning house & shampooing the carpet. We'll saturday morning I woke up with the runny nose & lots of sneezing. Saturday night I got the worse earache I can remember & finally on sunday I went to the doctors. I was a major ordeal just finding one open on a holiday weekend. I got me some meds & have been sleeping & blowing my nose most of the weekend. I'm getting ready to go take another nap.

Okay, today is a new day and a new start for me. Iím sure that I have gained as I have sort of let myself go. (After all, I did had a great excuse, right) :D
The wedding was just beautiful and all went very well. The Church holds 250 and it was almost full so we think that including the wedding party that there were around 225 that attended. My new DIL made a beautiful bride and of course my son was the most handsome groom that Iíve ever seen. They didnít want a fru fru wedding so the only music was string instruments, and no singing. Iím setting here getting goose bumps as I think about how beautiful it was. Of course I cried but keep myself composed. As I get older Iím sure more open about showing my emotions. The reception was fantastic, lets seeÖ.. they had a big fountain of wine and probably four tables setting around the room with finger foods and five or six different types of cakes. (Wonder why I remember so much about the food?:ink: :ink:) The waiter/waitress all were in white jackets and the two wedding planners were there for every need. The banquet hall was decorated so nice and there was a big tent outside for the beer drinkers. The weather was perfect! It rained about an inch ten miles from there but not a drop on the wedding or reception. Everything was just perfectÖÖ.
Now I have to go back to my real life. LOL ÖIím ready to get some discipline back into my life, Iíve just been eating everything and feel really bad after doing so. (Physically and mentally)

This morning I was worried about going to work, I work in a highrise building, but I got plenty of chewing gum & chew all the way up to my floor. I have been OP all weekend & have drank my water, so hopefully I have another loss this thursday. I have not exercised the last few days & will probably not tae-bo til the end of week. I want to make sure I get rid of what I have..

Semo - so good to hear from you again and the wedding sounded really beautiful. It would have been very difficult not to sample all that lovely food especially at you son's wedding but now that it is over you will soon be back on track and motivating us as well cause we need you to!!

Thank you for welcoming me to your group. It helps when you have someone to talk about diet and exercise. Lord knows my DH will not even walk to the front door to answer the door bell.
He does not believe in dieting and thinks I am missing out on life's good stuff. I LOVE him dearly however will never change him. I am glad there are some of you that walk approx 2 miles at one time even my daughters outwalk me. You gotta know they are a LOT younger that me. I am glad you girls have a good sence of humor. Good Morning All! Did pretty well eating yesterday, however didn't get enough exercise in but will do better today. Had to make a run to town after work yesterday to return the tuxedos and then dropped by the grocery and stocked up on some low cal/fat foods. No excuses now!
All the kids are back home safe and sound. They aren't taking a honeymoon until August, after the bar exam. The youngest is taking a summer class and doing an internship....then...... only one more class and he is out. Yeah... (not wishing his life away, mind you, just want to have some money for a change)
Okay here's my plan for today: 1. Stay on my eating plan without any slips 2. Min of 30 min exercise 3. Clean the frig (thought I'll throw in a little housework while I was at it. ;) )
Well, I must run.... one of these days the boss is gonna figure out that I really don't work as hard as he thinks! heehee

Semo I dont know how you do it. I went through 3 weddings
(we had 3 Daughters) and after I was through I didnt need any kind of weight program I lost weight like nothing during that time. Thank goodness they are all married and that is done. Where in Missouri do you live I was born in Cabool Missouri and had relatives back there. Cabool is out of Springfield. I did OK yesterday :D I did my walking drank all my water. I think I have drowned all my inside organs!!!!!! I weigh in on Saturday that will tell the true tale. I hope everyone has a nice and weight loss day.

Just checking in and so far so good. Ate cereal for breakfast and just finished a Lean Cuisine lunch and drinking on my water. Have a power bar scheduled for about 3:30pm then grilled chichen for dinner.
Spkrleyes, I live on the other side of the state. I really didn't have to do too much on the wedding. My DIL is well organized and so is her mother. I eat when I get nervous so I've been bad.
Patty, the DIL is taking the exam. My oldest has been working in Nashville for over three years as a project mgr.

GOOD MORNING CHICKS!!
It is a lovely morning and I am feeling good. I walked 2 miles yesterday and tripped and fell while I was doing it:o fortunately I was not too baldy hurt except for my pride!! I was linedancing for 3 hours last night.
I have not been walking so much recently as our little linedancing club are trying to raise money to buy a Spirometer for the local Health Centre. One of the girls and myself decided to organise a raffle and so far we have collected 37 prizes from the local shopkeepers.We sent out letters to other businesses and have received £460 in donations so far and we have not even got the tickets printed yet. Anyway that is why I have not been getting so much walking in recently.
Semo - I see you are right back up on this here old wagon!!
You will feel so much better for it. It must have been stressful with the wedding even if things went to plan. It is a big event in a mum's life.
Patty - well done in staying OP and drinking your water and you will soon be out walking again.

When I say morning it really is morning (EARLY) I got up at 4:30 today. Maybe I just wanted to start this Beautiful Day Early.
All is well on the Home Front. I will get my exersice today at the Hospital where I volunteer. They really run your legs off but it is well worth the time to volunteer.
Mooz I hope you are OK. I always have a fear of falling ( I call it tipping over) Just as long as you are not hurt. Good luck on your raising money for your project. I love your cartoon however I need one that stops fat from going to my stomach.

Good Morning Ladies, hope everyone feels as good as I do today. Back on my vitamins and I can tell the difference. Didn't quite make all my goals yesterday but will today. Ended up helping hubby farm after working late yesterday. After he got home from work he wanted me to bring the soybean seed and stay out there with him while he planted the last of the farm, which I did, then we rode around looking at all the back water. Lots of farm ground and roads still under water. When the river reaches a certain point they open the flood gates which in turn floods low ground. Didn't get that frigerator cleaned either, dang it. Got some sicence projects growing in there! :D
Mooz, so glad that you weren't hurt. I'm not very graceful at all! And good luck on the fund raiser.

Had my weigh in today and didn't do anything. No gain or loss... I"ll take it. I did not exercise all week, plus the meds kept me down. Feeling better today, hopefully just a few more days of this.
Mooz - Glad to hear you did not get hurt. I did that a few weeks ago, but fell on my keys, I was was sore for a day or two.. Good luck on your fundraising.(What is a spirometer?) I also do fundraising & my job it to solict prizes from every restaurant & hotel or actually anything).. then we give the prizes to our top walkers... I really enjoy doing it.. & it's for a good cause..
Semo - Even though you did not accomplish all of your goals, one of the main keys is to stayed focused. Your takeing your vitamins & drinking your water & eating healthy. Just take it one day at a time... I thinking helping out on the farm has to count for something too...

Thank goodness the rain has stopped for the moment and the sun is shining. I am in control. I did not get walking much yesterday as the rain was terrible:o but I was linedancing for 2 hours. We have to dance at Ballymoney Agricultural Show tonight and then we are going on to a linedance later so that will keep me on my toes!!
Patty - no gain is good considering you were not able to do any exercise - you asked about a spirometer:-

Gosh it was quiet in here yesterday!!
Patty - yes we were doing a demonstration last night. There were 14 of us alltogether and we danced for an hour. Then we went on to a dance and danced from 10PM until 2AM. I was not in my bed until 3.30AM and I was up at 8.30 so I am exhausted today but I did most of my housework yesterday so I would not have so much to do today. I hope to go for a walk later on and I hope you get your walk in too.

Well today is the big day WEIGH IN. I have real light clothes on
no heavy jeans and will take my shoes off LOL. I have been good getting my exersice and watching my points real close so I am not too worried. Just when I think that the fat monster puts its foot on the scale and wham overweight

It doesn't get any better than this. My book is coming along and I think I might have found a really wonderful guy. What more could go right in my life!!! I had an excellent weigh in, I am almost out of the lingering 30s, so glad so blessed so happy:lol: i have lost 3.5 this week, and i really want to say that walking is really a key to my wieght loss!! I love it, i went out early today, and just got with it, I need to get a walkman though, had one but lost it, It really does a winner, I hope everyone is having a fab weekend, and doing well!! Hi girls! Hubby and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary Friday night then got up Saturday and went to the lake. We got back late last night but needed the time away. Don't even want to discuss what I ate and drank! Doing good so far today except for the water and I have a gallon jug of spring water in the frig just waiting on me.
Congrats on everyone doing so well on the exercise and weight loss! A big WOO HOO for all of you.
My niece is having a yard sale this coming weekend so I'm going home this evening and gather up some stuff. One of my goals for the summer is to de-junk some of the stuff laying around the house. It's just hubby and me at home and you wouldn't believe all the junk I have packed in every nook and crannie. Guess part of that is living in the same house for 24 years. Even if I wanted something that I have stuck back I wouldn't be able to find it.:cool: And besides that how many empty butter tubs can one person need!!! :lol:
The guys all worked Saturday and Sunday so you know what my desk looks like. I've run a ton of invoices this morning and now I need to put them together and get them filed. You guys have a great day and will talk to ya later!

It is early evening and I am pooped. My daughter and I power shopped today. I really enjoyed her company but when I walked into the house my husband almost fainted by all the bags I was hauling in.
Semo I'm happy you had a good weekend at the lake. Our anniversary is coming up at the end of this month. 46 years with the old boy. If you need more butter cartons let me know I thing I have a truckload we have lived in our house for 35 years and I still have those little plaster handprints out in boxes in the garage. I dont know how I will ever say goodbye to this house as we have all grown up in it. GOOD MEMORIES.

Good Morning to All. I ended up working until 6:00 pm last evening but still went by my storage rental and dug out some stuff for the yard sale. Brought hubby's pickup to work today and going back to pull some boxes out to go to the dumpster. I've never seen so many spiders... Felt like things were crawling all over me and couldn't wait to get home and shower after I left there.
Mooz, sorry that your Mother isn't feeling well, she is very lucky that you take such good care of her. Some people do not realize how difficult that job is until they have done it.... my hats off to you.

hi ladies! I went camping this weekend. Had a good time but too many marshmallows! LOL
I have not run in awhile. A few weeks ago I had two huge blisters on my left heel. I wasn't aware of them at first until my work shoes rubbed on them and they were bleeding. I took to riding my bicycle instead which is still exercise LOL!!
Work is killing me. (not literally I hope LOL) Since we've moved our offices I have been verbally abused on a daily basis by people who couldn't find it and liked the old location better, blah blah blah. I am telling you, I pray for strength regularly just to keep from slapping these people and getting fired. ROFL And these are the younger women! The elderly ladies we see are always so wonderful. I felt like telling one young women that I had 90 year old women who could find the place. Sorry. Gotta vent sometimes!

Congrats to SEMO on your wedding anniversary. I have been married to my high school sweetheart since November 1, 1980. This December 26 will be the 25th anniversary of our first date!

WEll I am in much better form this evening. Mum is feeling much better as the antibiotics started to work very quickly. I have been to the dentist and he says he should be able to crown the teeth that are giving me the problems so I am happy about that.

Today I only worked a 1/2 day.. We had a work celebration & we all went bowling. It was alot of fun other than I know i'm going to be sore tomorrow. I can already feel it in my back. I also went off point when I had the 2 choc. chip cookies (they were right out of the oven) couldn't resist.
Semo - Congrats on your anniversary. I too need to have a garage sale. Actually I started gathering some items to get rid of.
Mooz - Glad to hear your mother is feeling better & glad to hear the dentist can take care of that tooth. I know when we get stressed we do turn to food, but during this time also try to keep your linedancing up. Exercise is a good reliver for stress....
Lauri - I sure hope those blisters heal. Are you going to continue running? I know you had a 10k coming up?

Good Morning Ladies. Yesterday wasn't very productive for me, one of the guys fell and broke his arm and I took him to the emergency room. We left about 9 and didn't get back to the office until almost two. I hate to say it about our local hospital but if it's anything major you better not stop there.
Trying to get myself motivated to stay on program, do great most of the day then I end up blowing it. What I don't understand is that I went over a year and did wonderful and now I can't seem to get through a whole day. Maybe today will be the day that does it for me.
Hubby is interviewing for a promotion today so say a little prayer for him (while your at it mention me too). He likes the job he has now but this would be more suitable for him.

Semo, I can relate... It's so hard staying motivated. Last week I did not have a gain or loss, but I didn't exercise at all because I had been sick, and this week it's so hard to get back to exercising. I know I need to do it if I want to see a loss. I have slacked off on my journaling, but I know I have to got to get back on track. Are you journaling? drinking your H2O, Maybe you could for one day focus on one item... like drinking water... make that your day's goal... then the next add something else. We all know what to do...It's just doing it...... Like the nike add says..." Just do it"...

Have been very busy. I have a Grandaughter graduating form High School. Planning a Party.
Semo: I hope all went well with you Husbands interview that is a very stressful event. About the Hospitals all Hospital ER rooms are the same. I Volunteer at a Hospital and their ER is always full and the wait about 3 to 4 hours. Give yourself some quiet time Read a Book - Take a long bath with bubble bath and a little yellow duck - do something nice for yourself it pays off.

You mow the lawn???? I could not do that if my life depended on it. Glad my DH like it. Those Cookies sounded good I love sweets.

TGIF Ladies!!! Annie I have one thing to say about your loss....WOOHOO GIRL!!
I finally got my lazy butt up and did some exercising yesterday. After I sorted through all my shoes and craft magazines (yard Sale) then cleaned up the mess I left behind. I exercised for 50 minutes, just couldn't go that last 10 minutes, but it was 9:00 pm before I ever started so I was tired to start with.
My newly married son is coming home this weekend, his wife's firm is sending all the new hires to Florida for something and hubbies do not get to go. Looking forward to spending some time with him tho.

Good Afternoon Ladies
Ok... I started journaling & have recommitted to exercising. I have gotten very lax in that area. This weekend i'm heading off to Sheverport for some gambling. I'm not worried about the eating, it more of the drinking water. When I gamble I tend to forget to drink water...
Semo - glad to hear you did some exercising. I don't think there will ever be a time when I enjoy or look forward to exercising.
I'm sure your son will be happy to have some good home cooking too..
Mooz - Way to go on your 1 lb loss... That is wonderful... and last week you had a few stressful days. Way to stick with that walking & linedancing...

WHAHOO I had weigh in this morning and am 3 pds lighter.
I am starting to feel like a thin person. After drowning All of my insides and have no skin on my feet from walking. It,s worth it.
SEMO: 50 minutes of exersice is great. I wish I had the guts to have a yard sale. I just cannot bring myself to sell my treasures.
Enjoy your son while he is with you. Those are such special times.
1 Day: Hope you win at Sheverport. Enjoy the time away.
Mooz: How is your Mum? Congratulations on your 1 Pd. Keep on walking and linedancing. Dancing the weight away is not a bad way to do it.

I really goofed up on writing my last reply I was talking to my DH and wrote down just what I was talking about. I meant the Belmont race and War Emblem. He Lost anyway.

If you're a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that.
Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid.

If you're a bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute cuddly cubs. I could Definitely deal with that.
If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too. I could deal with that.
If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess BODY FAT.
YUP..........I wanna be a bear.

hiya girls!!! I have been super duper busy this past week.
On Saturday I volunteered for an event here called The Kids Cowboy Fest. Its for little kids and they learn to rope (a fake horse) brand (again not real LOL) and there is a stick rodeo and a best dressed cow-person contest. This is my 5th year for doing it. My sons are too old for it now, but they helped me guard the hay pit! We get tee-shirts for our efforts and it's a fun time.
Anyhow, I feel like such a dip! I have been riding my bike all over creation. There's a hill that I just can't seem to get up (lots of those here). So I come back on Saturday from the ride. ( I always do a little of the hill then turn around and do the restof my ride) Tell my husband I can't get up the hill and he examines my bike. My gears were all dinked up and I was trying to ride the hill in 4th gear!!!!!! So... yesterday morning I rode UP THE HILL!!!! I felt like doing the Theme from Rocky music when I got up it LOL!!!
What a relief!! I was thinking, as athletic as I've always been, I have really let myself go to pot!! ROFLMAO!!!
HOpe everyone is well!! I am going home (Indianapolis) in 2 wks for vacation. I was at a plateau for ever, and switched to a low carb WOE. Lost 3 lbs last week and made it over my plateau!!!
Gotta fly girls!!!

Good morining to All! I kept with the exercising all weekend, so I'm proud about that. I got this in my e-mail this morning and thought I would pass it along.......now you know why I have all the strange sayings.;) My dad was from Mississippi and I have to admit I know about or use most of the following.
Only a true Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption, and that you don't "HAVE" them but "PITCH" them. Only a true Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up "a mess."
Only a true Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of "yonder."
Only a true Southerner knows exactly how long "directly" is - as in: "Going to town, be back directly." Even true Southern babies know that "Gimme some sugar" is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl on the kitchen table. All true Southerners know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well.
Only a true Southerner knows instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. (If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin'!)
Only true Southerners grow up knowing the difference between "right near" and "a right far piece." They also know that "just down the road" can be 1 mile or 20.
Only a true Southerner both knows and understands the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash. No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn. A true Southerner knows that "fixin'" can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb.
Only a true Southerner knows that the term "booger" can be a resident of the nose, a descriptive, as in "that ol' booger", or something that jumps out at you in the dark and scares you senseless.
Only true Southerners make friends while standing in lines. We don't do "queues", we do "lines"; and when we're "in line," we talk to everybody! Put 100 true Southerners in a room and half of them will discover they're related, even if only by marriage. True Southerners never refer to one person as "ya'll." True Southerners know grits come from corn and how to eat them. Every true Southerner knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that redeye gravy is also a breakfast food; and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food. When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin' ... ," you know you are in the presence of a genuine Southerner!
Only true Southerners say "sweet tea" and "sweet milk." Sweet tea indicates the need for sugar and lots of it -- we do not like our tea unsweetened. "Sweet milk" means you don't want buttermilk. And a true Southerner knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 MPH on the freeway. You just say, "Bless her heart" and go your own way.
