Sugar Shakers - "SEPTEMBER TIME" for more Busting and ShakingView Full Version : "SEPTEMBER TIME" for more Busting and Shaking meowee 09-01-2008, 12:32 PM Okay . . . a new month has arrived . . . and for some reason, Labour Day always seems to be the start of FALL too . . . :dunno: . . . so :welcome: to our new chat spot, gang . . . :grouphug: meowee 09-01-2008, 12:43 PM First thing I did this morning was change purses -- -- you know the old rule about "no white after labour day" . . . My Mommy trained me soooooo well. Yesterday was a really weird one -- It seemed so nice in the early afternoon, I decided to go shopping for a few things. I was wandering around Walmart when we got hit by a really nasty storm. Walmart took a hit to their generator and were rushing everybody through cash and out of the store while their emergency power was still working. Since it was raining so hard they were warning everyone to stay off the roads, I wandered to a few more close stores. By the time I finally got home I was soaked to the skin, and very cold and miserable. It continued to pour all through the night and more wet stuff is in the forecast for today, too. Well, August was not one of my best OP months and my ticker is staying exactly where it is -- could be worse, at least I didn't gain. Got the :crossed: for a really great OP September for all of us. See you later. . . :carrot: Toni48 09-01-2008, 01:35 PM A new month oh boy...... Hope this is a better month for me. I'm with you Meowee I didn't lose in Aug. I've got our vacation to look forward to at the end of the month. So hopefully this will be a great month. Hope you're all having a nice Labor Day week end. techwife 09-01-2008, 10:13 PM Okay...I'm not promising anything, but I'm off to a good start for September. Back to routines, back to school (for the kiddos), no more ice cream, popsicles, etc. Those who have known me since I sprang on to this board, know that I lost about 25 - 30 pounds on the WOE, but hit a plateau that ended that Halloween with a "Give me an Almond Joy and nobody gets hurt!" So, I'm off to a good start. Menu starting last night was: Dinner: Pork chop with apple salsa and salad with water Snack: None Breakfast: Apple, two slices of bacon and coffee Lunch: Banana, carrots, Lite n fit yogurt, water Snack: Apple, peanuts Dinner: Pork chop (leftover), chicken, salad and water Snack: a little coffee So, I'm off to a great start. I was a total wreck over the summer with eating. We've been off to town to the doctor about once or twice a week with Shelley's anxiety problems. She's been diagnosed with Agoraphobia, brought on by bereavement after her father died a year and a half ago. She's on the smallest amount of meds they can give her, hopefully to take the edge off in time for her to be able to go to school without panic attacks and crying jags on Sunday nights. Its been tough. She's also going to be on the Girls Varsity Hockey team this year. This is the first year they're having a girls hockey team in the school, so it's very exciting. Kyle is getting more and more independent and wanting to go to his friends houses more and more. He's so darn smart...he came in THIRD PLACE at the county fair this summer at the 1-2 grade spelling bee...as a first grader! It was awesome. Both kids were in Marching Band this summer and they did so well with it. Kyle, of course, carries the banner and Shelley plays the clarinet. They were awesome this year. Needless to say, we haven't been home a lot for dinner and have had to eat on the road, which is so hard to do and stay legal. Anyhow...I have some crocheting to get to. One last night to not have to get up early for school. I'll miss the little buggers. Oh...and the barber shop has TAKEN OFF over the summer. I'm even selling retail now!! I hope I can keep some of the business over the winter. We'll see how it all goes, but I'm very optimistic. Okay...TTFN!! Hugs and prayers to our Louisiana friends!! Meowee: I have a black purse and wallet. It goes for all seasons, in my book. ;) Toni48 09-01-2008, 10:43 PM Yea Techwife..... :cp::dancer::twirly::cheer3::congrat::broc::cheer: I'm so glad you're back. Wow lots has been going on with you. I hope things get better for Shelley. Shes having such a hard time. Bet Kyle is getting so big. How's Derek's work? Glad the shop has worked out. Your menu sounds good. Welcome back.... meowee 09-02-2008, 10:03 AM Good Morning, Sweeties . . . :grouphug: How can you tell that the last long weekend of Summer '08 has now passed into history? Well, in northern Nova Scotia you know because it has finally stopped raining and the sun is shining. Doesn't make a lot of difference to this ORF, but I do feel sorry for all those whoi had their last weekend of summer freedom severely rained out. :( Hey . . . the good news on the Ma Nature front seems to be that her DS Gustav has settled down . . . the bad news is that her latest DD Hannah seems to be gathering steam. the long term forecast is even saying that she may be up here annoying us by the coming weekend. Oh well, a lot can change between now and then. :crossed: that it's a good change. I think you have the right idea, TECHWIFE . . . a multipurpose-purse. I just get sick of the same one every day so usually have a couple on the go. I make my own wallets (because I like them out of fabric and with just the right combination of ammenities) and only change when one starts to wear out. Current one is tangerine-orange. Well, better get myself in gear . . . no great plans for the day, but that's one of the joys of being retired, your plans can change on the spur of the moment. I still have a couple of things I want from Walmart that I didn't have time to look for before we got thrown out of there on Sunday, so may venture into town later on. Here's to a great POP day for all of us. . . :carrot: Toni48 09-02-2008, 03:56 PM Oh boy its getting cloudy and gloomy outside. We're supposed to get lots of rain this week. 6 to 8 inches. My goodness. It sure makes me think fall is upon us. My tomatoes are still going strong. I picked a bowl full of cherry tomatoes and a few regular. Its sure making me hungry for a bacon and tomato sand. I may have to have one later today. I did slice up a tomato and ate it. My little dog Jackson helped me. Well hello to Meowee and Techwife...... Be back later. Solly 09-02-2008, 05:53 PM Just a quickie, almost time to go home or to the gym My computer has been down all day so such a late post. Hoping our friends in LA or doing ok. Need to send Missy a note. Our big game awas great (well not to great) but WE WON!!!! GO CATS. Ellen, Hi, glad to see you. Ican't beleive BOB is not here either. Toni, send us some rain, boy do we need it. Meowee, my DD just said yeterday she needed to put her white pants away after labor day. I was raised like that too. Got to change nad get to the gym. We walked 4.5 miles on Sat up 3 hills. My butt still hurts. More tomorrow. meowee 09-03-2008, 10:13 AM So how are all the Sweeties doing? . . . :grouphug: Just to let you know, I've been having really weird computer problems the past few days and will be making an appointment to get this beastie a checkup either Friday or Monday. At the moment, 3FC is one of the few places I'm able to access, but I don't know how much longer that may last. Decided I definitely needed some backup and bought myself a laptop yesterday, along with a cute little stand for it (which took me over 3 hours to put together :dizzy:) and a thingamajig to allow me to set up my own little wireless network -- BUT -- this snarly desktop (which is currently hardwired into the cable connection) will not let me load the software to set up the wireless. Today I will tackle the laptop set up and the first thing I'll be loading (if Vista cooperates) will be my Mahjong game which I haven't been able to access since Sunday -- I'm having major withdrawal pains. :dizzy: Do any of you run VISTA? I haven't heard too many good things being said about it so far, but maybe that's just everyone's naturally inbred resistance to change talking. At least I did not go off the eating 'deepend' yesterday -- hey, who can afford food when they've just bought lots of new toys. Okay . . . off I go to visit a few more 3FC places while I can . . . hope everybody has a great day and hopefully I'll see you all later . . . :crossed: Toni48 09-03-2008, 01:50 PM Good morning... We're having a beautiful soft rain here in Missouri. I love it. But ask me in a day or two. LOL Not much new going on here today. Eating has been fair. Solly- Wow your walk Sat. was awesome!! You go girl..... I'm trying to send you rain. Meowee- I have a dell laptop with Vista on it. But I'm a complete computer dummy. Thats so great you got a new lap top. I hope you can get it all set up. I love mine. Okay I'm off to cook breakfast. Think it will be oatmeal. techwife 09-03-2008, 02:21 PM I'm doing this from my CELL PHONE (technology these days...), so no replies at the moment. Eating yesterday was not so good. Had a sick DH and depressed kids (school started today) and i didn't give myself time to prepare for proper eating. Ended up with a donut for lunch and pizza for dinner. :( Today is better: BF coffee with a peach Lunch yogurt with an apple and half a banana Dinner will likely involve chicken and salad Snacks will involve peanuts and lots of water okay...before a customer comes in (1 perm and 3 haircuts so far!)...TTFN ps...the weather. Its been rainy ALL summer. Today...back to school...85 and brilliantly sunny. SO unfair. Solly 09-03-2008, 03:35 PM Hi ladies, Eating is good. Had a a little trouble yesterday, too much snacking, but I still was in my calories alottment. Made it to the gym for some interval biking and 30 minutes of wts for my upper body. Planning on the gym again tonight and tomorrow night. Tech, so good to see you back. I'm happy that the store has picked up so much. That is great. You can get back on track. It does take planning that's for sure. Toni, are you sending rain yet? We got a brief shower this morning, but it may have been scattered. My poor yard needs it bad. I think we may get some on Sat. That figures, we are planning a yard sale. meowee, I have not heard good things about Vista, except one person. I don't have it so I can't help you. Hope you get things figured out. What is mahjong? Got to run. Have a great day  techwife 09-03-2008, 08:24 PM Solly: Nice to be back! I see you're still a machine when it comes to working out! You're my hero! Toni: Thanks for the cheerful welcome back! :D Meowee: I love to play Mahjong...it is VERY addicting. We ended up at Pizza Hut for dinner. I had the Soup, Salad and Breadsticks dinner...had half of one breadstick, one small bowl of broccoli soup and three big bowls of Ceasar Salad. Very yummy, but I'm suffering from intermittent gas cramps that make me feel like I'm going to hemmorage! :fr: Okay...back to the throne!! :faint: techwife 09-03-2008, 08:33 PM PS..new ticker. It ain't pretty, but it will be great if I get to 160 by Christmas!! Toni48 09-04-2008, 02:09 PM Hello all. Made my meatloaf last night and it was really good. Now I've forgotten to take out anything for dinner tonight. Tomorrow is finally grocery shopping day. Boy will I be glad. Solly- We've had about 6 inches of rain here. Are you getting any yet. It just keeps coming down here. Wish I could come to your yard sale. I haven't been to one all summer long. Techwife- Sounds like you might have got a hold of something not good cause of all the gas. Or does salad do that to you? Meowee- How you doing there. Well time to make lunch. Tummy is growling. Solly 09-04-2008, 05:20 PM Hi ladies, Hope everyone's day is going good. Made it to the gym last night for about 50 minutes. I was dragging butt, I could hardly walk to the car. Today I am still worn out. Stayed up too late watching Sarah Palin's speach last night. Toni, we got a shower yesterday, but everything was dried up by the time I got home, so don't know if we got any or not. It was hit or miss. They are calling for some rain tonight, but who knows, doesn't look like it out there now. Tech, I was laughing at you with the gas. Probably all that salad and broccoli. ha-ha Meowee, hope you are having a good day. Got to run, almost time eto go home and I have to convince myself that I need to go to the gym. meowee 09-04-2008, 06:02 PM  Just a quick little tour . . . this desk-top computer is getting more uncooperative every day. New lap-top is up and functioning but I cannot connect it to the internet without some cooperation on the part of this old one. Hopefully, everything will be in fine shape by the beginning of next week, although that seems like a lifetime away right now. :dizzy: Hope to see you all tomorrow. techwife 09-05-2008, 09:27 AM Yesterday: Breakfast: Bacon and a peach Lunch: Yogurt (lite n fit) and an apple Dinner: Illegal fettuccini alfredo (just a small amount) and broccoli Snack: skittles and some ritz bitz with cheese. I hate when hubby comes home with candy for the kids. Off to go weigh my self on teh Wiifit! meowee 09-05-2008, 09:29 AM Good Morning, Sweeties . . . :grouphug: Another quick update . . . On the computer front -- My desk-top has an appointment for this afternoon about 3 . . . add to the time estimate from the 'wizard-guy' of 5 or 6 hours in his shop plus another hour or two when he brings it back, . . . the fact that it is the weekend, and . . . the fact that Hanna is supposed to hit us late Saturday (with possible power outages) . . . I have absolutely no idea when I will get back on-line. :dizzy:  Solly 09-05-2008, 10:37 AM Hi Ladies, Talked myself into the gym last night. Only did about 40 minutes though. I had planned to do some new exercises at home (didn't want to try out new ones at the gym and look like a fool), but after diiner things got crazy and I didn't sit down until after 10. My DD is having a yard sale tomorrow so I decided to go through my house and get rid of some stuff and clothes. Hope I make a lot of money. Tomorrow night we have the Susan B. Komen Pink Tie Ball. I am really looking forward to it. Dh gets to go along this year as my boss bought me 4 tickets. I bought a new pink dress (great bargain, was $215 and I got if for $55 and they hemmed it free). Ihave to go after work and buy DH a pink tie to wear. Then Sunday afternoon we are head to Indianapolis to the Colts vs Bears game. I am excited to see their new stadium. So I have to try to be good with eating. I am hoping DH and I can split something in Indy. Not sure what the menu is for the Ball. Last year they had steak and sea bass. Toni, we are finally getting some rain this morning. Never did rain last night. I hope it is enough to help our yard. Meowee, There is nothing worse than computer problems (& car problems). Hope you get it fixed. Be safe from Hannah. Tech, I don't think you had enough food yesterday. You were smart to eat only a small portion. I wish I would learn to do that. Got to run, we have a bid going in today. Have a great weekend. Oh, I may be off on Monday, not sure yet. We won't get home until around 2 in the morning so we planned th eday off. Now DH has planned a golf game and I know when he gets home from that he will want to sit on the couch and sleept for a couple hours, so I might as well work. We will see how I feel and if I get my house cleaned Sunday before we leave. Toni48 09-07-2008, 12:24 AM Having a pleasant week end I hope you are too.... techwife 09-08-2008, 08:01 AM Okay...the wonderful weekend. Eating was sketchy at best. I'm running out of produce, so I'm going shopping today after I get my nails done and then clean my house up. Shelley's sick with a cold and everything I can give her says you can't take it while on medication for anxiety. The psychiatrist said she can take half doses, which doesn't do much good. I just about had to force her on the bus just now and she just texted me saying she had a coughing jag. I'm sure its just the fresh air loosening things up. Really, fresh air is the best thing for a cold. That and the broccoli soup I made last night for dinner. She's such high maintenance. I do love her to pieces, though. Solly 09-08-2008, 05:11 PM Goodness, where is everyone? Wasn't planning on working today. We got in around 2 am and I got up at 6:45 after the alarm went off at 5 am, 5:10, and 5:45, urgh......... DH was playing golf and I didn't want to stay home alone and clean house all by myself so I came to work. At least I didn't waste a vacation day. Eating was not good for the weekend. Gone way to much. Hoping with summer coning to a close, weekend eating will get better or I don't know what to do. Tech, hope Shellley feels better soon. Toni, still raining? Meowee  Toni48 09-08-2008, 08:44 PM Hello Buster buddies. It was a lazy week end. I chose not to do much and slept in late. I loved it. Eating has been so so. I've got to dig my treadmill out my DH has it buried again. If I don't walk on it a week he's got it junked up. I guess because the room is so full of stuff. I took chicken off the bone today. I got one of those rotissare chickens from Wal Mart. Steve just loves chicken salad and stuff made out of it. Maybe a dinner meal too. Next time I think I'll boil the bones and stuff and make a good broth for the freezer. Solly- I know what you mean about eating. I'm hopeing cooler weather will help me. No rain but they say at the end of the week. Techwife- Hope you're enjoying your day off. And hope Shelly is better this evening. Now I need some of that soup yum... meowee- Hope you're getting your computer fixed. Miss you..... Okay off to find something for Steve's dinner. techwife 09-09-2008, 10:33 AM Raining, raining, raining...which I don't really mind on a day I have to work. Breakfast: Cheerios and a GT banana. I know, Cheerios aren't ideal, but better than the Lucky Charms that were next to them. Lunch: L 'n F yogurt with a peach and some peanuts Dinner: Haven't figured that one out just yet... :dunno: Okay...have to go get ready!! Hi to everyone!! Solly 09-09-2008, 01:31 PM Hi ladies, I was so exhausted yesterday that I fell asleep sitting on the patio with the dog on my lap. I went in and went to bed at 9:30. Only go tup once to potty ad slept until 6:00 am. It felt good, but I am still tired. Will force myself to go to the gym tonight. Can't miss many days or I will be sore all over again. Toni, it is raining here and expected to rain the rest of the week. My yard really needs it so I won't complain. At least I don't have to water all my flowers today. Luckily my :tread: in is the basement and we have lots of room so it doesn't get burried. Tech, sounds like rain all around today. Girl are you hungry? Your menu seems on the light side. I shouldn't judge, mine has been light the last couple days too. Not in the mood for food lately. Hope that feeling hangs around awhile. Meowee, hope you get that puter fixed soon. Just wanted to check in, it's almost lunch time. Have a great day. Toni48 09-09-2008, 08:34 PM Evening. Eating today has been pretty good. I'm sitting here right now having a diet root beer. Its been a beautiful fall day here. And really on the cool side. The high has been 69. Supposed to be back to normal tomorrow. Tech- Doesn't seem like you've eaten allot. I love cherrios. Especially with a banana. Hope your day was good. Solly- Sounded like you've been tired. Your Queen with the work out. The picture of you with with your dog on your lap is sweet. My Jackson is snoring away on the foot of my chair right now. Well better go see whats for dinner. techwife 09-09-2008, 09:38 PM Okay...I had an apple when I got home. Then we went to Watertown to return some shoes I bought yesterday that I decided I didn't like and get another pair and I had to return a sweater that I ripped of Shelley's trying to stretch it out so it's not too tight in the middle (seriously, I hate how everything is made for the shape of a phone pole!), but the seam gave way much too easily, so I returned it...she only wore it once! Then we went to Blockbuster to get disc 2 of Heroes, season 1 (I've always wanted to see that show, but felt it was the type of show I had to see from the beginning) and then we went to Buffalo Wild Wings where I had Chicken Ceasar Salad. Its what I've been getting lately when we go out for dinner. Although it wasn't unlimited like at Pizza Hut, so only one bowl tonight. Maybe I'll not have gas that feels like labor pains like last time. :o Buffalo Wild Wings is a REALLY cheap date for me and the kids...$16 for the two kids meals and my salad! I spend about that much at McDonald's drive through and end up with ...McDonald's... Toni: I love the cool temps, too. I hate doing hair in short sleeves...I fluff up someone's hair and feel my arms flappin and I HATE that. I'm happy to have my long sleeves back!! Solly: That's the trouble with those fancy schmancy balls...they wear you out!! I don't ever have that problem. That Colts game was dismall, was it not? What happened to Peyton?! Could be worse...he could be Tom Brady! :fr: Patriots fans all hung up their jerseys before they even got salsa and chips stains on them! The BILLS on the other hand! :woohoo: What a great start for a change!! Meowee: When are ya gonna get that darn 'puter fixed? Me, Solly and Toni are the only ones talking in here!! Okay...off to watch another episode of Heroes. TTFN!! techwife 09-09-2008, 09:44 PM PS...check out my ticker!! Toni48 09-10-2008, 12:36 PM Hey Tech thats so great! :dancer: Congradulations.... meowee 09-10-2008, 07:46 PM Guess who . . . :grouphug: OMG, did I ever miss this place. Talk about withdrawal pains. :yikes: Everything is still not perfect, compter-wise, but we are getting there. I've lost a lot of data files that I really counted on and will have to start rewriting some Excel applications tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm having to get used to XP again on the desktop (my son had replaced it with 2000) because the "wizard" thinks it's best to run the operating system the machine was originally designed for. And, for that same reason, I'm also going to try to work with the Vista that came on the new laptop. At least it is also now internet friendly although the litte built-in mouse-like pad is driving me nutttttz. Also have a new mouse and a new keyboard on order (currently using loaners). When the "wizard" finally brought back my CPU, he discovered that both the Mouse and keyboard seemed to be having problems too -- leading him to decide that all the internal damage to the CPU must have resulted from a little electrical hit (so much for the glories of surge-protection ) Have to admit to not being very OP the past few days. Don't really know how bad things have actually been because my little home-grown diabetes and nutritional tracking program is one of the things that I have to rewrite. Never a dull moment . . . hope everybody else is having a good evening . . . and I sincerely hope I'll see you all tomorrow and get all caught up with my 3FC reading. . . . Toni48 09-10-2008, 10:11 PM Going to try this tomorrow. Only use agave instead of honey. Meowee I'm soooo glad you back. Whole Wheat Banana Bread 2 c. whole wheat flour 1/4 c. wheat germ 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. soda 1 1/2 c. mashed ripe banana 1/4 c. vegetable oil 1/2 c. honey 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped pecans Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl; stir well. Combine banana, oil, honey, eggs, and vanilla; mix well. Make a well in center of dry ingredients; add banana mixture and stir just until moistened. Spoon into well-greased and floured 9 x 5 loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until bread tests done. Solly 09-11-2008, 10:31 AM Hi ladies, sorry I was MIA yestserday, I had the great gyno appt yesterday evening and had to leave early. he was delivering a baby when I got there. That hasn't happend in over 20 years. I waited and he was back within 5 minutes. Made it to the gym last night and will go again tonight. that will be 3 times this week. My friend that I had talked about a couple weeks ago that had cancer so badly, passed away last night. they had given him 2 weeks on Monday but he didn't last that long. My heart breaks for his wife and boys. we really take life for granted and don't realize how precious it really is. Tech, I hate when clothes tear up that easily. They aren't made like they used to. Boy that made me sound old. I think Petyon was off too long with his knee and just needs to get back in the groove. Hopefully. Of course, I love the other Manning of the Giants too. I always find BWW expensive. It was over $16 just for my DD and me. I guess the kids meals are cheaper. Toni, It is cool here in the mornings, but has been warming up and then cooling down. I need to get my hot tub filled this weekend. These cool nights would be a great time to hop in there. Do you have to use the wheat germ in that recipe? I don't have any but need to get some. Can you only get it at health food places? I have a recipe for homemade dog treats. They are made with wheat germ, baby food and something else. Rudy loves them and they are good for him. I will get you the recipe. Meowee, glad you are back on here. We have missed you. Better get busy, I just finished some cottage cheese and I need to go get my yogurt or something. Have a great day  techwife 09-11-2008, 10:51 AM Yesterday, eating was bad. There was a toaster struedel in there, I believe. Today is off to a good start... Breakfast was two scrambled eggs, some cantaloupe and grapes. Lunch will be my standard yogurt and peach with some peanuts. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but I get busy and that's all I have time for. Okay...off to work I go!! :woohoo: meowee 09-11-2008, 10:51 AM Good Morning . . . :grouphug: . . . and it definitely is a gorgeous one around here -- sunny and cool -- just the way I like it. Guess my plans for 'playing' with the computer all day will be postponed since this is Thursday and so it's time for the regular 'mall-crawl afternoon with my buddy LouLou. Since I'll be away as of next Thursday -- long weekend in North Carolina, if Ike is cooperative -- we have to make this outing last us for two weeks. So sorry to hear about your friend, SOLLY, but at least he is at peace now. Good wishes for his family and friends . . . Okay, must go and check into a few more 3FC places before I hit the shopping trail. At least I'm very happy to be able to say, with reasonable certainty, that I will see you all later. Toni48 09-11-2008, 02:33 PM Afternoon everyone. I'm a little slow today. But do have my pot of beans on the stove cooking. I think we're supposed to get rain in awhile and beans sounded good. Plus Big Brother is on tonight and I like something fast for dinner. Eating was so so. I did make chicken egg rolls yesterday. Solly- Dang I'm so sorry about your friend. How very sad that is. Prayers for his wife and children. Yep time to get that hot tub filled. You've done great this week on the exercise. Looks like Ike is going to curl around and get us, so we're expecting lots of rain. Would love the recipe for dog treats. Wheat germ is at the grocery store I think on the cereal isle. I've not made this banana bread before so don't know if it would make a difference. Techwife- Hope you're busy. But boy I would be so hungry with that lunch. Meowee- Sounds like you have a good day planned. Wish I could go on your mall crawl...... Okay off to make lunch. meowee 09-12-2008, 10:19 AM Another beautiful morning in northern NS . . . hope things are glorious in your neck of the woods too. The Mall-Crawl was great, but after I got home yesterday and started playing around with the computers I decided I'd have to 'go to town' again today to find a book -- something along the lines of "An Idiot's Guide to Vista for Dummies" might be appropriate. :s: Other than that -- SSDD -- weight is still stuck on the ticker number -- blood sugar numbers are stuck in the 'much too high' spot (beginning to wonder if I've got a bad batch of test-strips). Hope you all have a great day . . . see you later  meowee 09-13-2008, 10:01 AM :mag: Hey . . . I'm talking to myself in here . . . :( Toni48 09-13-2008, 01:05 PM Don't you just hate that when you're all alone in this big room. LOL..... I've been lazy so I don't have allot to say. We went and got our truck out of the shop yesterday. It still needs some work and Steve just wants to get rid of it. But we have to have a four wheel drive where we live so he's going to have to get another one. I put a roast in the crockpot this morning. Wish I had a sweet potato to go with it. But I don't unless I get ambitious and go to the store. Guess I'll get busy and do some laundry and clean up a bit... Have a good day... meowee 09-14-2008, 08:38 AM  I found a package of frozen sweet potato fries in the health-food section of my grocery store yesterday. Probably a little too much fat in them for my liking, but I can hardly wait to try them. Maybe with some chicken for dinner tonight. Other than that, nothing exciting -- heavily overcast and quite muggy this morning -- think it will be a good day to get some household chores done. Absolutely must do a little ironing. I absolutely hate ironing and tend do as little as possible and to put it off as long as possible. After that, guess I'll play around with my computers for a bit. Hope everybody has a good day on the go . . . :carrot: Toni48 09-14-2008, 05:19 PM Wow we got the rain and wind all night. Steve woke me up early this morning to get out of the bed. He was nervous because we live in the woods with tons of big oak and cedar trees all around us and he was nervous about one coming over on us. It did knock out the computer network till just a bit ago. I've been lost without it. I had Steve dig out the treadmill so I could get back on it tomorrow. Eating has been pretty good. I made a yummy roast yesterday and had a nice salad with it. Meowee- I've been wanting to try those fries so bad. But just can't find them. It would be so fun to have some fries. And I love sweet potatoes. Hope everyone fared well in the storms. meowee 09-15-2008, 09:47 AM Try looking in your nearest Health Food or Natural Food store -- although I have seen some nugget-like frozen Sweets in my ordinary grocery store I haven't tried them. I'll try to remember to make note of the brand next time I'm there. Well, we seem to be having a return to the hot and muggy days of Summer around here today -- it's also very windy and 'almost' raining -- guess this is our little taste of Ike (along with the sky-high gas prices this morning ). Things are supposed to settle down again tomorrow. Have a fun day . . . :carrot: Toni48 09-15-2008, 04:34 PM Hello..... And good afternoon. Just finished a spa lean cusiene meal for lunch. I'm slow to getting around today. Still need to get on the treadmill but think I'll wait till later today. Meowee- I live in a town of 600 people. We only have one little grocery store. We drive over an hour to go to a Wal Mart Super Center once every two weeks and they don't have the fries. So I hope I can find them somewhere. We're cool here today only 62 outside. Well guess I'll go. Be back later.... meowee 09-16-2008, 09:05 AM Hi . . . :grouphug: Wowee . . . and I thought my little town of almost 4000 was small . . . for a girl, born and raised in Toronto (over 3 million), it was quite a shocker when I moved here. Well . . . we had quite a change in both temperature and wind direction overnight. I actually had to close my bedroom window at 2 am. :brr: Unfortunately we still have heavily overcast skies, but hopefully will see some sun later today. Now, if we could just see a change in gas prices -- they zoomed up about $0.14 a litre (that's about 1/4 of a gallon) on Friday night and haven't get dropped back down (although they have in many places West of here). Can't put off the fill-up much longer. :crossed: Nothing much planned for me today -- some laundry; some packing (for that little weekend trip to NC); a trip to the drugstore -- my life is sooooo exciting. I really am looking forward to the NC trip, though. Hope everybody has a great day on the go . . . see you later . . . :carrot: Toni48 09-16-2008, 03:49 PM Good afternoon. Just put a loaf of whole wheat banana bread in. Hope it turns out good. I'll let you know. I've also made some plum wine and will have to bottle it later after I rest up. Didn't walk on the treadmill yesterday but I hope to today. Meowee- Wow lady we're alone again. Wonder where Solly and Techwife are. The high today is 62, so we've got some cool weather. I'm kind of enjoying it. Next week I have to start packing for my trip to Calif. Can't wait. Well hope someone else shows up to keep Meowee and I company.... meowee 09-16-2008, 05:36 PM Our high made it all the way to 59F (15 C) but at least the sun came out a little around 5 pm. BTW . . . those Sweet Potato Fries are from a company called IANS in Revere, MA so you might ask Walmart if they could consider getting them. The Sweet Potato Roasters (which I got a package of just now) are from MCCAINS which is a New Brunswick company so doubt that you'll ever see them; but there are probably some US brands that are similar. Toni48 09-16-2008, 05:49 PM Thanks Meowee for the info. I made the banana bread and its good. I have enough to make a second batch and think I will to put in the freezer. chris313 09-17-2008, 11:51 AM Good morning, ladies!! I have just gone back and read the September posts and it looks like Solly, Techwife, Toni and Meowee are the true blue Sugar Shakers!:carrot: Good for you ladies to be so consistent with posting. I, on the other hand have been very negligent with checking in. I'm still trying to lose these last stubborn pounds. I have to say I haven't been trying as hard as I should be, at least with exercising. I am down 1 pound this morning. Weighed in at 150. Work has been good. The day goes very quickly and I'm starting to feel more comfortable handling the day to day problems. My girls are good and enjoying the new school year. It's really nice having time with just my husband for a change. Well, I've got to get back to work. Have a wonderful week ladies!;) meowee 09-17-2008, 12:04 PM Hi there . . . :grouphug: And the good news this morning -- gas did drop back down by 9 cents a litre this morning (even though it had gone up by 14 on Friday :s:) So I will save a tiny bit of money by waiting to fill up. Other than that, have to clean up a few things before I can get packed for my little weekend trip to North Carolina. Don't know what kind of computer possibilities there may be over the weekend so if I don't get back here before Monday I hope you all have a great one. Solly 09-18-2008, 09:51 AM Hi ladies, sorry I have been MIA but Ike has struck havoc in Louisville. Luckily I did not lose power but 90% of the city did. We had winds over 75 mph. The office just got power back yesterday. There has been lots of damage everywhere and I think we still have 150,000 homes w/o power. They are saying it has been worse than when we had the bad tornado years ago. I know it is nothing like what the people in Texas have suffered but you just don't expect hurricane winds here. Needless to say, eating has not been good. We had ot orer out every day at work so it was pizza, mexican, etc. Our gym was spare the outage so I made it once this week. Yesterday we had a bowl-a-thon for UPS for the United Way so I did that. It was fun. Better get going, lots of work backed up. Just wanted you all to know where I was. Toni48 09-18-2008, 12:06 PM Hello, The internet here was out all day and just came back on this morning. Eating has been so so.... The weather is so cool in the morning. And warms up nicely in the afternoon. Still haven't gotten back on the treadmill. Solly- Its so good to hear from you. I'm so sorry your town got hit so hard but glad you're alright. Now the trick is to get back to eating right. Meowee- Glad your gas went back down a bit..... Chris- Welcome back!!! You can do this..... Now got to run. Solly 09-19-2008, 05:33 PM Have a great weekend everyone! Got to run Toni48 09-19-2008, 06:53 PM Hi Solly...... Hope you have a good week end. Solly 09-22-2008, 09:40 AM Hi Ladies, Sure hope this is a normal week. Last week was crazy. Not everyone has power yet. Most everyone I know got it back sometime over the weekend. That had to be a nightmare. Weekend was a crazy one. We had a yard sale on Saturday. I made about $55 and my DD about $90. So it was a decent one. My DD still did not get rid of her dishes. That was the main reason to have a yard sale. They are the fiesta ware dishes and she was trying to sell them for $100. Which if you bought them they would be over $400. So I don't know what we will do with them. Maybe put them on Craig's List or Ebay. Had a bad bout with my discs (I guess). I could not lay on my sides w/o my hands going totally numb. I kept waking up every hour Sat night and it would take aobut 20 mintues for the numbness to go away and then right back again as soon as I laid on my side. I tried laying flat but then that hurt my back and I guess when I did fallasleep I would turn over and it would start all over. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep and I was wiped out yesterday. I was supposed to go the the Ryder Cup with my DH & SIL but I did not think I could make it all day so my nephew took my ticket. I'm glad I didn't go. I got to spend the day with my girls and for me that is much better. Eating has been a mess, so got to get back on track this week. Still no rain. Our yard is like straw. Toni, hop you had a good weekend. Tech, what kind of hair product do you recommend to "mess up your hair"? I used Head Games "All Messed Up". It finally ran out so I bought "Manipulator" but not sure I can handle it. I can't do anything with hair. I like the back of my hair to spike up sort of. Meowee, are you still getting rain? Chris, hope you can join us more. Got to get some work going. Have a great day. meowee 09-22-2008, 01:06 PM It was raining when I finally got home about 11 pm last night. It is sunny right now and wish I was in good enough shape to enjoy it. I am soooooooo very tired. Guess it might have been a good idea to do a little more sleeping and a little less talking this weekend. Both the blood sugar and the weight have done a little upward bouncing. BTW, there is this wonderful little shop in Asheville, NC called "Chocolate Fetish" -- need I continue. :o Okay, think I'll have to wait a bit to get totally caught up with my reading. Definitely need a nap. :tired: Toni48 09-22-2008, 04:16 PM Good afternoon. This is my busy week cause we're going on vacation at the end of the week. We have someone to housesit for us. I get my hair done tomorrow and lots of packing to do. Lots to do! Eating is not great. I have a feeling I'm going to have a rough time with it. Solly- Man I can't believe your daughter didn't sell her fiesta ware dishes. But sounds like the yard sale was good. I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time health wise. I'll keep you in my prayers..... Meowee- REST UP! Its nice you had a good time. Well off I go to do somemore getting ready work. Ellen 09-22-2008, 04:31 PM Hello everyone! I am stopping by to say hello. It has been a roller coaster month, and I am glad it is almost over. We had a going away party for a young couple we are friends with...that we love like our own...then last night in church, we prayed for them, etc. I cried all through church. They are moving to Jacksonville Florida...not far, but far enough that we won't see them often. Their five month old daughter was like a granddaughter to me, and I am really going to miss her. Her REAL grandparents will be much closer so I am happy for them, even while I am sad. MEOWEE: Ah, The Chocolate Fetish. :s: Looks like you all had a nice weekend. Was the turn out good? Did you wave as you passed through Atlanta? meowee 09-23-2008, 09:41 AM :grouphug: for everybody Special  for Ellen. Turnout was an even dozen and I actually got the best deal by flying Continental via Newark. No waving, but I was thinking about you. After lots of extra sleep yesterday, I'm finally feeling almost human. Blood sugar is still up there but the 2 pounds have disappeared again so guess they were just www. Weather is spectacular today -- sunny and about 14C/57F -- so, as soon as I clean the litter pans and take care of the regular morning 'stuff', I'm off to do some grocery shopping. Have a great moving and shaking day, gang . . . :carrot: Toni48 09-23-2008, 10:51 AM Just a quick good morning. I'm having coffee and trying to get woke up. I have a hair appointment this morning and then need to start packing. So I've been busy busy. Made a pork loin roast in the crockpot with sauerkraut and it came out so good. Tonight the leftover roast may be burritos. Ellen- I remember you talking about the young couple and I'm sorry they're leaving. Hope everything runs smooth for you soon. Sure do miss you.... Meowee- Glad you got some rest... Enjoy the day. Solly- Howdy!!!! meowee 09-24-2008, 02:54 PM Oh Phooey . . . I've come down with a cold . . . too many airports and aircraft over the weekend I guess. Hopefully I'll get back to normal soon. meowee 09-25-2008, 04:43 PM Nothing exciting for me -- hacking and coughing; snuffling and sneezing -- oh and lots of napping. Toni48 09-25-2008, 05:10 PM Just want to say good bye. We've just got to load the U haul and then in the morning we're off to Calif. We're both stressed here. So much to do. I hope everything goes well while I'm gone and theres a dozen people on here when I come back. Meowee- I hope you get better soon. Get lots of rest...... Bye Bye........ Be back in two weeks. meowee 09-26-2008, 09:21 AM :grouphug: Still snuffling, sneezing, gurgling -- sound a lot like the coffee maker as a matter of fact  -- but the throat definitely seems a bit less raw this morning so that's a good sign. Have a great trip TONI . . . Solly 09-26-2008, 11:30 AM Hey Ladies, Sorry I Have MIA, My boss passed away on Wed night and it has been crazy, crazy in here. He was 85 and had just recently quit coming into the office on a daily basis. He hated the nursing home and his wife passed 4 years ago (almost to the day and the same exact situation). I had worked for him for 37 years so he will be greatly missed. We are heading to the lake after the visitation tonight (22 of us) so that will be fun and a good diversion for me. Of course I have eaten everything that was not nailed down since Wed. I am so sick I can hardly stand it but keep eating. Be back on track Monday. I am thinking about getting a trainer for a month to see if that helps me get going again. Have a great weekend. Sorry for no replies. meowee 09-27-2008, 07:14 PM Oh yuck . . . today I've added a migraine to the fun of the head cold . . . Kyle is definitely coming our way. Sorry I'm just no fun right now. Hopefully I'll be back to normal again soon. meowee 09-29-2008, 01:53 PM :mag: meowee 09-30-2008, 11:08 AM Where are you . . . Toni48 10-13-2008, 02:25 PM Oh my gosh where are you all? I'm back from my vacation in Calif. Eating was bad and I feel like a fat frog, even though I ate allot of salads. Meowee- Hope you got better. Solly- I'm sorry about your boss. What will happen with your job? Hope theres someone here when I come back... Solly 10-13-2008, 02:27 PM Hi ladies Sorry I have MIA, just very busy. I can't find the Oct sticky. Didn't know if we were still using Sept board. Where is everyone? Solly 10-13-2008, 02:31 PM Hi Toni, glad you had a nice trip. I had forgotten you were going there. Nothing will happen to my job. He was 85 and didn't do much around here for the last year or so. Mainly he just cam in for somewhere to go and something to do. One of my other bosses really runs the place. I have started with a trainer. Boy was I sore until today. He really worked me hard. I kept telling him to remember I was old. I go again tomorrow night so I guess I will be sore all over again. Doing better with my eating. Dinner Sat & Sunday was not too good. Meowee, how are you doing? Waht's the weather like there? Got to run. Have a great day Toni48 10-13-2008, 02:58 PM Solly- How great you've got a trainer. I've got to get back on the band wagon. I need to go big grocery shopping and get some proper food in this place. I went to the little grocery store in town and they had lousy produce etc. Wonder what happened to Meowee. meowee 10-13-2008, 05:26 PM So glad to see somebody around here . . .,, Things went so dead near the end of September, I just never did start an October thread . . . guess we can keep using this one until next month and then maybe I'll do a two-monther for November/December. Toni48 10-14-2008, 04:29 PM Good afternoon. Nothing going on here except some laundry. Had a bowl of Special K for breakfast. Think I'll make a shrimp salad for dinner. Been watching the Doctors on tv and they had a thing today about the raw food diet. It sounded so interesting. Hope you all are having a good day. Solly 10-14-2008, 05:05 PM Hi ladies, Nothing big going on here. Went to the gym last night. Tried to "perfect" some of the exercises the trainer did with me last week. We get a whole new round tonight. So I guess tomorrow I won't be able to move again. I am having so much trouble getting enough calories. There just isn't a lot of right things to eat that I like to add up the calories. Especially in the protein category. You add cheese and there goes the fat. He wants me to eat 1700 calories a day but I am lucky to make it to 1500. Today (counting my dinner) I only have 1100. Toni, I need to get some food in the house also. My fridge is about empty. Don't want to go now as we are going out of town this weekend. I'm sure eating will not be good then. Meow, that's fine on the board, I just wanted sure where to post since there hadn't been any activity. Off to the gym. Talk to you tomorrow. meowee 10-15-2008, 09:29 AM Hi there . . . Sunny again this morning and just about every other aspect of the day looks about the same as yesterday, too. Toni48 10-15-2008, 01:43 PM Oh boy I feel like I'll never get rested from my trip. I've been dragging all week. I made a wonderful shrimp salad last night. It was so yummy. Now fall is starting to come in I'm starting to think of cold weather stuff. Not that its cold here. But the leaves falling and the thought of pumpkin pie calls to me. LOL...... Guess I'll do my usual wifey stuff today. Meowee- Hope you have a nice day. Solly- How's the workout going? Off to have more coffee.... Toni48 10-16-2008, 01:51 PM Hello, hello any body here..... Solly 10-16-2008, 05:54 PM Off to Nashville for the weekend. See you Monday. Toni, he's killing me, but I am getting a good workout. meowee 10-17-2008, 09:17 AM  Sorry I was missing yesterday -- woke up with a terrible pinched-nerve kind of backache yesterday and spent most of the day flat out in bed. Still with me this morning, but a little better. :crossed: for even better tomorrow. Also raining like mad (started yesterday) and I'm sure that isn't helping the back situation either. Anyway . . . have a good day, gang . . . somehow I think this little guy will be the only one around my house dpoing much moving and shaking today . . . :carrot: Toni48 10-17-2008, 11:37 AM Boy beginning to feel like a human again. Got up and put a roast in the crockpot. And email a couple of friends. Later its grocery shopping. Busy day here. Meowee- Sorry you're having trouble. Try and rest lots. Solly- Have a great week end. meowee 10-18-2008, 09:11 AM Hi there . . . Toni48 10-18-2008, 11:03 PM Howdy; We're having a lazy afternoon here. Dinner is over and the kitchen is cleaned.... meowee 10-19-2008, 09:06 AM Hello again . . . Seems a little overly quiet around here. Huma 10-19-2008, 12:23 PM dear meowee, I am new here and I want to get a scale like yours in my mail..how do I do that? Toni48 10-19-2008, 01:34 PM :sklol::witch::sklol::witch:Howdy Ho! Its a beautiful fall day in the Ozarks. The leaves are falling and the trees are changeing colors. Its cool out and the sun is shinning. Make ya feel good all over to just be alive. I hope I can get DH off his duff today to grill our pork tenderloin I have thawed out. I love it marinaded, cooked and sliced thin. If theres any leftover its yummy on salads or to make a burrito with it. Lots of times we cook two so we can have leftovers. I'll have this with a baked sweet potato and maybe a salad. Its a wonderful day to get out and walk. Huma-:welcome: We're kind of slow on the board right now. But jump right in and join us. Tell us a little about you.... Meowee- Howdy ho.... Well back to my coffee and movie. Have a happy day..... meowee 10-19-2008, 09:34 PM  and big :grouphug: to everyone. Hi there HUMA . . . glad to have you with us. Toni48 10-20-2008, 12:19 AM Our barbeque went well. The meat was tender and lean. Baked sweet potato was yummy. I got some grapes I've been snacking on that are wonderful. So sweet. Hope you're all having a great Sunday. We've enjoyed the day. Be back tomorrow. :comp: crayphish 10-20-2008, 08:33 AM Hi y'all, I'm new here too! I'm needing to get back to the right way to eat. I played with Atkins but it just isn't as easy as SB is. I lost 20 a few years ago while living in Alabama. I moved back to LA after Katrina and have gained too much weight so it's time to get back on the wagon. Any success stories out there? What's been your biggest challenge? Mine is not being prepared..... meowee 10-20-2008, 09:58 AM :grouphug: and an extra special :wel3fc: for you CRAYPHISH. Glad you found us, Chickie, Well, yesterday was very much NOT ON PLAN. :o . . . The joys of shooting extra insulin include the wonderful stimulation of appetite. Hey, at least the BGL levels are looking good since I started back on those inections. Certainly a good thing that we get a fresh new start everyday. Our weather is looking pretty overcast today after a nice sunny one yesterday. The silly back is still giving me occasional twinges, but nothing major and don't imagine today's weather will make it any better. We have snow in the forecast for Wednesday. Hey, if it does arrive, don't imagine it will stick long. Hope everybody's weekend was great and that Monday is good to you all. See you later . . . Solly 10-20-2008, 01:21 PM Hi ladies, Our weekend is Nashville was fun. Too much eating and drinking, but fun with old friends. Back to the gym tonight. I have the trainer tomorrow night. :fr: Meowee, please don't say the "S" word just yet. I am not ready for it and I fear it is going to be a bad winter. I just hate every bit of it. Toni, A pork loin sounds good. I may get one tonight at the store. I am so out of food right now, the fridge is totally bare. That only means a big grocery bill. Crayphish, Welcome to our group. It is small right now but hopefully will pick back up again soon. I originally lost 105 lbs on SB. Pretty easy to follow. After breast cancer, I added back about 40 which I am trying to get off now. Jump on in here and ask away. Huma, Welcome, Hope you decide to join us too. Looking forward to getting to know you. After the gym I need to get dinner and then go to the store. My cupboards are bare and choices are slim. I have to pick up my calories, they are lagging to low. Got to run, it's almost lunch time. Have a great day. Toni48 10-20-2008, 01:33 PM Hello all; I hope I'm getting a fresh start today. This week I hope to make a pot of vegetable beef soup. I'll take a small roast out of the freezer today and thaw it for the meat. So maybe tomorrow I'll get it made. Lots to do today...... crayphish-:welcome3: This is such an easy way to eat and makes such a healthy life style too. And the whole family can eat this too. My DH does and I can add stuff to his like potatoes that I don't have so its easy to cook. My biggest challage is week ends. I want to drink wine with my DH and I lose all control on Friday till Monday. Glad to have you with us. We can do this. Meowee- Oh no not snow!!! Hope the back gets completely better. I sure don't envy you with diabetes. Stay well...... Well better get off my lazy butt. Have a happy day...... Toni48 10-20-2008, 05:53 PM Oh boy I'm having a good day. I've eaten real well and walked on my treadmill today. Took a bit for me to dig it out. LOL meowee 10-21-2008, 09:13 AM :yay: TONI . . . glad you had such a great day. Dull and overcast and cold and windy around here this morning -- but at least it is not snowing. Last night the local weather station guru was talking about Halifax getting over 39 cm (better than 15 inches) of snow on October 21, 1974. Hopefully that will not be repeated this year. :crossed: See you soon, gang . . . Toni48 10-21-2008, 07:42 PM I've been gone shopping and out to lunch with a friend today. Had a great time and ended it with getting a flu and pnemonia shot. I got me a couple pair of sweatpants and some long t shirts for sleeping in. Came home and the book French Women For All Season's book arrived. Its the sequel to the book Skinny *****. Can't wait to read it. Maybe it'll give me some inspiration. Hows everyone? And where are you? Meowee- howdy lady.... Oh my gosh hope that snow doesn't get you. How are you feeling? Well took a little nap in my chair so guess I'll go try to wake up. Solly 10-22-2008, 09:32 AM Good morning ladies, Tried to get on here last night but the computer gods had a different idea. Had a good work out last night. Amazing how much harder you work with a trainer. He really pushes you. I tell him the weight is too heavy and he tells me I can do it. If nothing else, I'm losing pounds from sweat. Eatng has been good. Of course, it is always good during the week. I have been talking with Gator Gal (who used to be on this board) and she has been inspiring me to make it through the weekend. We have a party on Friday night but I am determined to be 100%. Meowee, 15" of snow in Oct??? I could not take it. I am already ready for summer and we are only in the 60's during the day and 40's at night. Toni, We are thinking alike. My DH just suggested making veggie soup. Of course I got our of the store and did not pick up the stuff I needed. I guess that will be next week's dinner. Good for you gettng on that :tread: You rock. Better get going. Just finished 2 hardboiled eggs and 2 pieces of sausage. My trainer said people who eat eggs for breakfast every day eat 36% less than those who don't. Don't think I can eat them every day. Have a great day. Toni48 10-22-2008, 12:08 PM Good morning.... Brrrrr its cold here. I think we had a front move in or something. I just guess we need to send it to Solly. Boy I was pooped last night and slept like a baby. This morning I'm bundled up with a good cup of coffee. I've got tons of house stuff to do today. And hopefully will get a pot of soup made. And walk on my treadmill. Solly- sounds like your trainer is a good one. Hope he does you some good. I wish Gator Gal was still posting here. I miss all the women that used to be on here. meowee- Howdy....... Going to go and drink my coffee...... meowee 10-22-2008, 04:16 PM  jazzmegirl 10-23-2008, 12:27 PM Hi. I was doing intuitive eating, but found myself bingeing, so wanted to try something else. I have decided to go with the G.I. diet, does that fit in with this thread? I thought Atkins and South Beach would feel too restrictive for me. How does G.I. differ from Sugar Busters? I want to lose 40 pounds. I'm 36 years old, five three, starting at 156 pounds. Ideally, I'd like to be between 120 and 130, I have a muscular build. It's nice to meet you. Any experiences on this plan would be appreciated. Amie Solly 10-23-2008, 03:25 PM Hi ladies, It is cold here too. Looking for rain all day tomorrow and even colder. I hate to start complaining about winter already, but I'm tired of it. Went to the gym. Only got to do 30 mintues of my work out but I figured that was better than nothing. Will go tonight and get a good one in. I hope so, I am so sore today I can hardly move. Toni, now you just keep that cold over there. I guess you all have rain too and will be sending it my way. I also miss all the old posters. Anyone heard from Ellen lately or Bob? I talk to Missy some via email. She is busy, busy and here kids are getting so big. Jazzemgirl :welcome: to our group. We are small right now, but hopefully frowing. Yes this is a low GI diet. EAsy to follow. Have you read the book? I orginally lost 105 lbs doing this. Have gained about 30 back. Best advice. Be prepared and plan ahead. Plan your meals and plan for when you go out. And don't cheat. I made it almost a year w/o cheating and once I did, it was downhill. Ask any questions, someone will have an answer. Looking forward to getting to know you. Got to get to work. Have a great day  Toni48 10-23-2008, 04:51 PM Good afternoon buster buddies. Had to go to town and pick a box up at the post office and then stopped and had a cup of green tea with a friend. Its cool out today. Solly- So glad you're getting exercise in. Sorry about the rain. I hate the cold weather too. jazzmegirl- :welcome3: We're glad to have you. Sugar Busters is such a good lifestyle. Its easy to follow and a great way to learn to eat. meowee 10-23-2008, 05:25 PM Hi all . . . :grouphug: And a big :welcome: for you AMIE . . . all of the low GI/GL plans are pretty similar to each other . . . think I did a little review on the GI DIET in the forum a while ago as a matter of fact. It is probably one of the easier to follow as it uses a listing of GREEN for GO (eat happily) YELLOW for CAUTION (watch portion size) and RED for STOP (avoid these foods as much as possible). Think you'll like it. Well . . . I'm officially in a bad mood today -- going back on Insulin is definitely giving me better control over my blood sugar levels, but one of the things shooting Insulin tends to promote is fluid retention in a big way and I've gained 5 pounds this week. Oh well, we do what we gotta do. Hopefully this will eventually pass. Weather-wise, today is definitely better than yesterday -- pretty windy but the sun is shining again and at least yesterday's storm only brought rain; NOT white stuff. Have a thrilling Thursday everybody . . . jazzmegirl 10-23-2008, 10:01 PM Hi, ladies. It was a lovely day here today, sun shining, with a bit of wind and fall leaves on the ground. I am tired after my workout. OP for my first day, so far so good. Meowee, you are right, B.I. is like a traffic light. I have decided to order SB just for comparison. I was looking into the zone, but didn't want to do all the calculations. I realize I'm addicted to sugar and white flour. Bagels, pizza, ice cream. Though I exercise six days a week, the diet part has to come together, or I won't lose. How long have you ladies been doing this? My Bf is a gourmet cook, though, if I cook healthy stuff for both of us, he will eat it. My family eats a lot of fast food. So, really, I'm looking for support elsewhere. I wish they wanted to get healthy with me, but, they don't, people are very attached to their food preferrences. I'm going to bed soon. Talk to you tomorrow. Amie crayphish 10-24-2008, 08:36 AM Hey y'all, I am going to buy the SB book this weekend. Shoulda never given it away!! Our weather has been great. Low humidity and clear skies. I do love fall. Could not do snow on a daily basis. I am always amazed at how tough it is to live with snow. Do any of you use the SB cookbook(s)? I have an Atkins one and so far everything is yummy. What are some 'must have on hand' snacks that you love? meowee 10-24-2008, 08:49 AM Hi there . . . Looks like this morning will spell the end of our sunshine for a week or so -- but, along with the overcast skies and possibility of rain, we do get to enjoy balmy low double-digit temperatures (that's the low 50s in the "F" world ). So . . . I'm off to run a few errands while the sun is still mostly shining this morning and then, hopefully, the weekend is looking pretty quiet. My favourite snacks tend to be quite boring and run to fruit and/or yogurt -- I do mix NSA cocoa powder and a little Splenda into my yogurt and that goes a long way to satisfying my chocolate cravings (most of the time :dizzy:) Have a great and fun-filled Friday, gang . . . :grouphug: crayphish 10-24-2008, 11:41 AM Ah, chocolate.....I do plan to experiment with cocoa powder and unsweetened chocolate. The weather is leaning toward some hot chocolate in the very least. Maybe some crustless choco cheesecake. The muffin sized ones freeze well..... My guy is an at home gourmet cook which helped me gain some pounds....he's done well so far with the recipes I've come across. He DOES have to make them his own, tho, LOL. Low 50's F is cold enuf for me! TGIF!! jazzmegirl 10-24-2008, 01:13 PM Hi. I will try the chocolate yogurt trick. I have my eye on the pumpkin cheesecake on the recipes board. Getting rid of all sugar, condiments, and white flour. I ordered the book, it should be hre next week, can't wait. Did my workout at the stroke of six this morning, quite a bracing way to wake up, but, at least I got it over with. Parent conferrences oday. I am looking forward to seeing members of my former band play on Sunday. I haven't seen them for about two years. This guy roks, or rather swings. He's about 70, a Jahovas Witness who plays ragtime piano, and makes the best coffee ever. He knows songs that are older than the ones I know, which is saying something, because I like really obscure jazz. Talk later. Amie Toni48 10-24-2008, 02:57 PM Good afternoon buster buddies. I've got kind of a late start today. Glad to see everyone is doing fine. Have to run into town as soon as I fix Steve something to eat. I've got to make a birthday dinner Sunday. Still haven't figured out what but it might be steaks on the grill with baked sweet potato and a nice salad. I want to make a taco soup soon too. Jazz- The band sounds neat. You're so lucky to have a gourmet cook in the house. I'll bet he can make some awesome sugar buster meals. I would love someone teach me some new things in the kitchen. Crayphish- I haven't read the SB book for awhile but it sure wouldn't hurt me to once in awhile. I like to make a smoothie out of 1/2 cup of apple juice, a carton of SF vanilla yogurt and 3/4 cup of frozen fruit. Its good for an afternoon snack. Along with some nuts. Meowee- Have a good day running errands. We've got a cool fall week end here. Off to make lunch. jazzmegirl 10-24-2008, 05:20 PM Toni, thanks for the smoothie recipe, I'll have to try it. It's getting chilly here too. I'll probably make the Mexican chicken for dinner with brown rice. I had no idea you guys had so many great archived recipe boards on here. I could browse them for a year and never run out of new things to try. Did I say I want to lose 10 by Christmas? I think that's very doable. Two days in, and I all ready feel better, just having cut out white flour and sugar, and adding more protein. I think tis is something I could actually stick with. Amie ladyfirefighter1 10-25-2008, 10:40 AM i tried searching for the smoothie from toni and also your mexican chicken recipe, didn't find either. can you point me in the right direction for both recipes????? thanks ladyfirefighter jazzmegirl 10-25-2008, 12:39 PM Hi, ladyfirefighter1. The smoothie from Toni is a couple of posts ago on this page. The Mexican chicken is on the recipe collection in the recipe forum, July-December 2001 board. Hope this helps. There are so many great recipes, I don't know wat totry first. Amie Toni48 10-25-2008, 02:38 PM Howdy ho ladies. Lazy ole Saturday here in Missouri. Don't really have anything I have to do. Except later go up the hill to check our mail. We live a mile down a hill out in the woods and the mail box is on the highway above. Hopeing maybe we might grill some hamburgers for dinner tonight. I found the best looking stone ground wheat burger buns. Amie- I'm glad you're liking this way of eating. Sugar is a downfall for me along with that white flour. I like this because you can make yummy things to feed others and they don't miss the white stuff. lady- the smoothie is easy. A carton of vanilla SF yogurt, 1/2 cup apple juice and 3/4 cup of frozen fruit. Whirl in the blender. Well still drinking coffee so off to get some more. Have a good day. jazzmegirl 10-25-2008, 06:22 PM Toni, I think I'll bring a SBD appropriate meal the next time I see Bf. Impatiently waiting for my book. Any tips on what to avoid when eating out? Toni48 10-25-2008, 06:53 PM Amie- I go from the grilled, or broiled meat and a salad and veggies. And if you can get two servings of the veggies. But it depends on what kind of food you're going to out to eat. We're having hot wings, a salad and a baked sweet potato tonight. DH decieded not to grill burgers. I might have a glass or two of wine later. ladyfirefighter1 10-26-2008, 12:59 PM thanks all for the info, i tried the searching thing, it didn't work tooo well, unless i didn't do something right, but thanks I'll check them out. ladyfirefighter ladyfirefighter1 10-26-2008, 01:13 PM I found the mexican chicken recipe, boy you could spend two weeks just looking at all the recipes. thanks again and for the smoothie, i 'll have to try that too. ladyfirefighter Toni48 10-26-2008, 01:49 PM Well today is DH's birthday so I'm his for the day. I'll start by making him a big late breakfast. Hope everyone here has a great Sunday. meowee 10-26-2008, 06:01 PM Hi . . . :grouphug: Sorry I've been MIA -- little bit of a family emergency -- nothing horrendous; just a lot of silly running around that was very, very time consuming. Hopefully my life will be back to it's so-called 'normal' by tomorrow. In the meantime, gotta run again . . . Toni48 10-27-2008, 01:41 PM Well I made it through birthday Sunday. Cooked DH his huge breakfast. And we grilled burgers. I made him an apple pie but it wasn't even cut into. Maybe he'll eat some today. Here it is Monday and a new week to deal with. Its cool here outside with the wind blowing. I have to go to town in a bit. So how did everyone's week end go? Meowee- Hope everything is going okay in your world today... Have a good OP day..... Solly 10-27-2008, 03:53 PM Hi ladies, It is nice to see the board picking up some. well I had a great weekend. Eating wise that is. We wne to a chili dinner Friday night and only took 2 wine coolers with me. (not SB legal) I really watched what I ate and did so good. Saturday & Sunday was perfect too. So all in all for me it was a good weekend and the scale was not up 10 lbs for the first Monday in a long time. I got all my diuretics in this weekend and the scale showed it. My chili dinner turned out to be a Surprise Wedding. The couple 50+ had built this home together and living together a couple years. They went to Aruba and were going to fet married there and she backed out. So they had a relative that was a minister come over and they got married right there in their living room. They just wanted something simple and with all their friends there. Their kids weren't even there and no one knew beforehand. It was definately a surprise. Toni, sounds like you had a good weekend eating too. It is very windy here and cool too. Going down the hill to get the mail is great, but you have to come back up the hill. Jazz, gourmet cook or not, any time you can get someone else to cook is a great deal to me. Just give him some SB recipes. Lady, glad to see you back with us. Meowee, I feel your pain with the water retention. I have to take 3 diuretics a day to keep it normal. Hope things work out there. Crayphish, Sounds like you are doing great with this eating. I had something to say to you, but I flipped pages and now I forgot and can't go back. Sorry. Got to run log in my food so have a great day. meowee 10-27-2008, 05:49 PM  Using my laptop today and the slightly smaller keyboard is driving me  Other than that, relatively dull and boring day on the go -- also dull and rainy weather, but it's fairly mild at 17C/63F. See you later . . . :grouphug: jazzmegirl 10-28-2008, 03:03 PM Hi! Toni, hope Dh had a nice Bday. Solly, I'll have to tactfully point him in the right direction. He does a lot of exercise with his job, is one of those who can eat or drink whatever he wants, and stay at ahealthy weight. Tonight we are going to see Appalusa at the movies, I guess there is something playing bessides Beverly Hills Chihuahua, LOL. Allergies are taking their toll on the family. Dd woke up with a cough, feeling lousy, and I felt achy and fluish, and had to take a clariton for the first time in a while. I usually avoid it, on account of my glaucoma. I'll take one if I need to sing or something. Off to fix lunch. Got my Curves workout in, though I really didn't feel like doing it. Next week I get my monthly progress report and measurements done, so, we'll see if I lost weight or inches. Take care, all. Amie meowee 10-28-2008, 04:27 PM Hi there, gang . . . Another rainy and windy day -- but still holding pretty mild for this time of year. I'll be glad to see sunshine again, but just know it will be bringing colder temperatures with it when it does arrive. :brr: meowee 10-29-2008, 10:26 AM  Sun is starting to shine and temperature is definitely dropping . . . jazzmegirl 10-29-2008, 12:33 PM Hey. Finally got my book. Looking forward to trying some of the recipes. It says bananas are forbidden, but I see recipes for banana bread, was their position updated? Thanks. Amie Toni48 10-29-2008, 09:55 PM Hello all. Sorry I've been missing but it seems everyday I have to go out for some reason or another. Tomorrow I'm having lunch with a friend. All is fine here. Still having wonderful fall weather. Amie- You can have green tipped bananas. So pick those greenies when grocery shopping. Meowee- Hope you're having some good days. Where are you Solly and Ladyfighter and crayphish? Solly 10-30-2008, 11:38 AM Hi ladies Been a little busy here and did not have time to get on the board. Nothing really new with me. Been to the gym all week and sweating like a fat girl. I always see people dripping sweat and it is gross, now I am one of them. But at last I feel like I am working hard and it has really motivated me to keep OP. If I get there tonight (we have to take our doggie to the vet for shots) and I plan on going tomorrow right after work since we are not going out and staying home for trick or treat, I will have been 5 days this week. :cheer: The scale hovers around a new set of numbers so I am hoping all this extra exercise will bring it down. Don't know if anyone watches the Biggest Loser or not, but I am hooked on it. Very interesting and entertaining to say the least. Jazz, don't you hate guys that can eat anything. Plus they lose so much faster than us. Hope your allergies clear up. I have some funk in my chest. Don't know what that is. I eat bananas b/c I take 3 diuretics a day and I tend to be low on potasssium. Toni, have a nice lunch with your friend. Meowee, glad the sun is shinning, It is rather brisk here also. Got to run log in my food. Have a great day  Toni48 10-30-2008, 11:35 PM Solly- Wow you're doing wonderful with the exercise. I think that is so cool. Keep on rolling.... I love the Biggest Loser and don't miss an episode. On Oprah today they had Jillian and Bob and some of the biggest loser people. It was a good show. Nothing much happening here. Had a nice lunch with my friend. Then we did a little shopping at the Dollar Store. This is my DH's Friday at work so the week end begins at about 11. Grocery shopping tomorrow. Have a good night. meowee 10-31-2008, 04:51 PM Happy Spooky Day . . . :witch: meowee 11-01-2008, 11:30 AM Time to make a move to a new chat thread, Sweetie-Pies . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2434178#post2434178 . . . hope to see you over there. :grouphug: vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
