Question Culinary assistance aka HELP!

Hi Ladies
SO I'm going to whip up a Ph 1 Pizza Casserole/Meatloaf
I have Ground turkey FF Ricotta parm Mozz and some yummy veggies and turkey pepperoni
Here's my Q
Should I Mix the raw turkey with the Ricotta and an egg to make the "crust"
Should I cook the turkey then mix?
or Should I make the crust strictly turkey herbs etc and egg then Top it with the Ricotta?
What would work best to NOT get a watery mess?
Thanks
Kierie

I think you are supposed to cook the turkey first then mix it with the mozzarella and egg then bake to make the crust. then top with ricotta, more mozz if you'd like and then the toppings and bake again.

I think if you mix the turkey egg and ricotta(instead of mozz) you will have a mess.

I agree with the no ricotta. I think I would go for the third option, mix the turkey with the egg and seasonings and bake for the crust then top with ricotta, etc. Sounds good, maybe I will do this for myself on pizza night.

Hrm.....I've never made a meat crust before...

I would mix the raw turkey, an egg and mozzarella cheese - it should be simply a take on meatloaf, correct? Just bake until cooked through. Ricotta doesn't really get watery when baked, but the flavor is such that I think it would be better maybe mixed with a red sauce (are you including sauce?).

Are you filling it with veggies and whatnot after cooked?

Here is a recipe posted by Cottagebythesea...found it in the phase 1 Entrees..I knew I saw this somewhere...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, remember I made this up on my own, so you may want to tweak it a little to suit your own tastes.

Preheat oven to 350*, and spray a 10" pie plate with Pam.
Mix together-
1lb xlean ground turkeybreast or ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. basil
1/4 cup shredded parmesan
Pat into bottom and up sides of pie plate. Bake about 20 minutes.
In medium bowl mix together-
1 cup ricotta
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup jarred spagetti sauce (I use Cento brand)
1-2 Tbsp. pesto
Spoon into the hamburger crust and top with chopped veggies of your choice. I used red peppers, mushrooms, onions and black olives. Sprinkle with a little mozzarella. Bake another 20-25 minutes til bubbly. Let cool about 10 minutes before serving. Mangia!

zeff...i've also come across a recipe where you use cauliflower, mozz, and egg and bake for crust. It was on a low carb site that I can't think of right now. I'll look for it and post if I find it.

I made a flax crust for my quiche a lot like a graham cracker only savory
and I found a recipe for a GArbanzo flour skillet bread that I need to get the stuff for that might be good.
I'll either do it tonight or Thursday
