Anyone put olive oil on their face?
I've been doing it for the last couple of nights before I go to bed.
I can't really see any difference with my wrinkles yet.
I was thinking about the moisturizers by DHC and they say the main ingredient in them is olive oil, so I thought why not just use plain olive oil?
i like to use almond oil myself, the same stuff that you would use on salads as long as its cold pressed. I put it everywhere when my skin is really bad, olive oil is probably really good. Cold pressed is best, i think its because you retain more of the good stuff in the oil
I use olive oil and mineral oil combined to clean my face and I love olive oil for moisturizing. It helps if you use it over slightly damp skin to begin with - as it holds in the moisture already there.
My Mom has used olive oil for 30+ years and her skin is incredible at the age of 64. She is often mistaken to be in her early 50's. I don't use it myself but for her it has truly worked.
Okay, listen to this!! My husband's 85 year old aunt died in April. She never married , she got a "Dear Jane" letter from her fiance in the service one month before their planned wedding and she never recovered. She actually became very mean and depressed. She was the one that took care of all the old, dying family members. Anyway, she was beautiful and her face was almost wrinkle less . We were cleaning out her apartment and I found 4 cans of crisco in the refrigerator. I was talking to her cousin and I mentioned how odd it was for Auntie to have so much crisco and she laughed and said that they all used to put in on their face and neck every night!!! All of the cousins married and had families and just didn't have the time or energy to continue this beauty secret but Auntie did !! Every night all over her face and neck and at 85 years old she looked barely 60 !! Is there anyone brave out there?????
Suzy
There are a lot of women who used to use Crisco as a moisturizer.
The thing is ... a lot of the damage of our skin is because we're (as a society) so obsessed with stripping the natural oils away that we *cause* the damage. Truly if many of us were to stop using the chemical laden cleansers we do and stop trying to "de oil" ourselves, our skin would be a lot healthier.
A lot of times, unless you're treating a specific skin problem, a simple rinsing and patting dry is all your face needs. If you have to wash off dirt or makeup, use something natural and non-drying. Castille soap is good. Or a mixture of oils to help remove the dirt w/out removing the natural oils.
Then smoothing oil onto damp skin will help hold that moisture in.

even if you do have a skin condition, this can be good advice. I have bad ezema and its recommended that i dont use soap at all, unless its something that wont come off without it (or i guess if it would be hazzard otherwise, like you've been handling blood for some reason)
Ha! I got little sample packets of DHC stuff and one was just Olive Oil. Straight up. That WAS the ingredient.
And I can't just throw out perfectly good free samples out so I put it on my face and neck one night--- (just one mind you, I was freaked out about potential pimple-age too!) and I think it certainly didn't hurt but one can't tell from one night anyways!!
I just thought it was funny they were giving away samples of olive oil........

I use almond oil to moisturize my driest parts (including the ends of my hair.)
I wouldn't worry about pimples, putting oil on topically isn't what causes pimples. Clogged pores (from oil your body makes) and bacteria cause pimples.
Anyone every heard of the oil cleansing method? Google it! I tried it, but it dried out my skin too much (yes, oil dried out my skin.) So, I only use water and a washcloth, then sometimes almond oil to moisturize only (not to cleanse.)
If you really want to prevent wrinkles though, put on your sunscreen religiously everyday!
