:coffee: Can you believe it's Wednesday already? It seems like I was just moaning about it being Monday! Time sure does seem to fly.
Let's see, for today I have to call and reschedule a hairdresser appointment. I was going to take the girls with me on Friday and Melinda was going to trim their hair while I was getting my done, but I just remembered Audrey has a birthday party to go to in the afternoon. I have to drop Audrey off at a playdate this afternoon, and Maggie has a little friend coming over. I took them shopping for school supplies yesterday, and we had to go to 3 different stores to get everything on their lists, and we still don't have everything they need. :?: Cindy said she'd pick up what I couldn't find, thank goodness. We spent the rest of the afternoon back here in the pool, where Monica and the GD's joined us after their big shopping trip. So it was a pretty good day, despite being busy.
Only 6 more days until school, Yahoo! :D

Good morning all! Nothing new to report here, pretty typical day coming up. I am searching menus online right now for different breakfast ideas, I am getting sick of egg beaters and real eggs to say the least. Sound off with any good ideas. HAVE A GREAT WEDNESDAY!
Cottage - Sounds like a fun day. This summer just flew by for me, school started too soon!
08-20-2008, 08:10 AM
Wow Cottage, sounds like a busy day!! School supplies..ugh. I remember those days with my 3 kids well...a mad house in the stores.
I've spent about 700 on school supplies myself so far this year...ouch.
Autumn, Phase 2 breakfast?? My favorite is an absolutely stuffed turkey and spinich sandwich on ezekial bread for hurry up mornings. Or leftover dinner. I've been taking leftover dinner to work every day, so that sandwich is my best friend!
Nothing new here, just school and house and such. First lesson plans are due on Friday and they all have to be put online...very different from the old days. Emergency lesson plans also due friday. I'm pooped from working on them. I put up a link to our recent puppy olympics, (http://www.vieuxcarre.com/pups/2.html) but it was in another thread in case you didn't see it. They were funny..well, my husband was. They all have their eyes open and are walking pretty well and starting to play.
Have a wonderful day everyone!!

It should be called Whoosh Wednesday because time is just whooshing away for me. I feel as if I've wasted the past two days on fussing about Life and niggles and getting nothing much accomplished.
Cottage, busy days are great especially when you get lots of stuff accomplished. It sounds to me as if you need a Harvard Planner to keep your life and work organized.
Autumn Rose, think outside the box for breakfast. I often have leftover chicken or other meat with sliced tomatoes. Chili, stew or soup work fine too. When you get to Phase II, there'll be more choices, of course.
At the moment I have a handsome 6'3" ex RCMP (Mountie) sleeping upstairs - in the guestroom, of course! Cousin Peter decided the Island sleeping arrangements were too crowded and is going to stay here nights for the week. He got here around eight last night and we sat and talked family until after one. He is madly in love with Disney and Hershey remembers him well as the guy with the boat that goes to the Island, a fun place for dogs. Peter lives out in Alberta and is just visiting for the week. His mother, my Aunt Rose, is in her mid-nineties and just moved into a nursing home. Peter is driving a van full of her furniture back out west next week and wants me and the dogs to come along! Oy! Anyhow, he's a fun guy and will be amusing himself during the day at the Island or in Ottawa and just be here at night.
So today I'll finally get some plants potted up for the sale and get my baking organized. The Hyper Pypers are going to come up for a day on their boat today or tomorrow so I'll get some food organized. The local techie for the TV satellite is going to see if he can fix my problem without climbing onto the roof and my barn contractor is going to put up my missing shutters that I finally picked up yesterday.
Not sure what time Peter will get up and want breakfast so I'm going to just get on with the day until he stirs. It looks like we finally have a summer's day - about time!
Cat, the "puppy olympics" are too funny! It makes me miss the days when I had puppies around. Hersh and Lucy had litters 14 days apart which called for pretty tricky management but lots of fun.
08-20-2008, 08:23 AM
I'm so glad I'm through with school shopping! 700 for supplies? that's highway robbery!!!!!
OK, Not sure how to train this dog cause he doesn't seem to mind pissing in the crate! ARGH! And whats more, I'll take him out, let him go potty twice, bring him back in and he turns around a few moments later and goes!
He did calm down last night after the long walk we took! still played, but nothing like the first night! And if I geton Guiness for anything, Jade picks up on my tone of voice and starts correcting him to stop what he's doing, it's awesome!
I had the second interview yesterday, and talking with the receptionist, I asked her how many they called back for a 2nd, she put her finger to her lips to say "sshh" and said one, u. :). I really hit it off with Rich, the general manager, who I'd be working very closely with as he's the manager of the production and I'd be manager of the office, and the direct contact for customers to check up on their product and what not! A different sort of postion I'm used to, as I'm used to doing A/P, A/R, Payroll and such... but I'll still be supervising these functions, and doing month and year end. I am hoping they call back with an offer. Linda was saying drug testing is mandatory, I told her they'd be hard pressed to find alcohol let alone drugs.
08-20-2008, 08:24 AM
Good morning chickies!
Whew. Yesterday's thread was tooooo long! I can handle it today!
Cottage - I look forward to my little girl going to birthday parties...it'll be cute!!
Autumn- are you on I or II? II, to me, is endless. Phase I - I normally had eggs, or roll ups. I learned I LOVE fresh basil in an omelette...and still have that frequently.
Cat - good gosh! Good luck with the class stuff! I'd have to put myself on a budget for that!
Me - I was feeling good yesterday, until I went on the treadmill. I think this cold is finally kicking my butt! It's a full (but short) day at work today, I think I'm going to either go shopping (whew - I need some work pants that fit!) or just rest. Tonight, my son meets his future classmate at the park. There's only 6 (!) kids in his kindergarten class...and only one boy. Hope it goes well!!
Have a great day all!
Ruth - I got tired reading your post....hope you get some down time!
Lori -Hope it works out...good luck!
We were simulposting!
08-20-2008, 08:42 AM
HI Ruth, simulposting! Is Peter single? hahahah have fun! sounds like pups want to go to the island too!
Twynn, your poor son? um, not! I have a pic of my son on a HUGE tire swing with a HUGE smile on his face, with 5 very pretty young ladies when he was in preschool! To this day he brags to his friends!
08-20-2008, 08:48 AM
I'm sorry I don't have time for personals today. From this morning on through the end of the weekend, I am going to be unusually busy with errands, appointments etc., so I may not be posting very much. I'll try and grab some time here and there to keep up with everyone. Most days it's very quiet around here, but "things to do" have all piled into the next 5 days, for some reason.
I hope everyone has a productive, yet peace-filled next few days and I'll see you soon!
Good Morning Chicks.... it is fallish feeling here this morning, although it is going to be a hot one later this morning. A quiet day kid wise so I am going to take advantage of it and get my girls to do some supervising so I can get some house stuff done.
Cottage- Glad you enjoyed your shopping day :dizzy: we are off to get school supplies this week end. But the girls only need binders, loose leaf, pens, pencils and white out. And of course clothes, although they saved their own money this summer and will be spending that. Enjoy your day.
AutumnRose- Good Morning and have a great day. As for the breakfast thing, I tend to eat alot of supper left overs.
Femme- those puppies are so cute. I am glad I don't live close by or I would be wanting one. And your hubbys voice in the back ground was too funny. Enjoy your day.
Ruth- handsome men sleeping in your bed, ;) you lucky girl. :D enjoy your day with your family and friends. Wow I don't think I know anyone as busy as you.
Loriann- Have a great day and I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Hope the job comes through.
TwynnB and Belle Mer  hope you have a great OP day.
Me- Made it through day one yesterday and had a great OP breakfast this morning. Although I am doing a ph 1.5 I just can't give up my fruit. So far I am feeling pretty good, I did have a bit of a slump yesterday my body is so full of bad stuff that after a good eating day I think it is celebrating. Other than that not much going on in my world. Just enjoying the quiet a week and a half and we will be back on school schedual lot of fun. Well must go, enjoy your day chicks.
08-20-2008, 09:11 AM
WOW it's WEDNESDAY already. TGIW! half the week down. We will do minimal school shopping on Friday with GC in high school it's paper binder and pens.... no biggie and she's got more clothes than I do. alleging no need for new bras or undies. bless this child. she does need cleats and shin guards. UGH.
Girls (and Matt) I think I need to shake up my world. I think i need to try calorie counting vs SBD for a bit... not giving up my eating healthy principles... just needing a change...
so while i feel like i'm cheating on you... i have to go check out that forum TOO...
so if you see me over there... do not think i'm leaving i'm just BRANCHING OUT!
08-20-2008, 10:09 AM
Good morning! Don't think I am going to have time for personals today. The boss is one of those types who doesn't speak before 10 am and for some reason will not shut up this morning. All I hear is blah, blah, blah. Please tell me this is not how my entire day is going to be.
So the weight gain is water and now I am trying to figure out why. I had my feet up in the chair and DD said "mom look at your feet, their fat!" Sure enough my pretty feet had turned all puffy. I have not had any majorly salty foods, pretty sure I have not licked a salt block lately, drinking my water like I should, who knows! I won't be 40 until December and I am already falling apart. :dizzy:
Cottage hope you have a calm day.
Autumn not knowing which phase you are on I might not be much help, but I have a healthy french toast many mornings, still get my egg in which helps keep my full along with some peanut butter, and SF syrup.
Cat sounds like my old nursing days of writing care plans, gosh I don't miss that.
Ruth good grief you make me tired!
Loriann good luck on the job!
Twynn hope you get to feeling better soon.
Belle hope you get everything done you need to.
LC may day 2 be just as good as day 1.
Nessa I know you will figure out what is the plan for you!
Well hot dog I did get personals done (he is watching basketball for now).
Have a great day beachers!
08-20-2008, 10:12 AM
40 is that magic age...
i retain water more than i don't. ugh. hate it.
have a great day stephanie.
08-20-2008, 10:12 AM
Good morning super busy morning no time for personal just a
Have a great day
08-20-2008, 10:15 AM
Getting DS ready to go pick up some bagels and coffee for breakfast. DH is still sleeping.....he will be happy about the surprise.
Supposed to be meeting my aunt at 1...but I'm trying to find a way out of it. The entire family needs some rest today. We're supposed to be going over for my dad's birthday tonight anyway.
I'm tired......really tired. I can't wait to get back into my schedule and sleep in my own bed. It's amazing how terribly a 2 year old sleeps when they aren't in their own bed. He's been crawling into bed with us most nights.....too cramped.
Pacer- if you spend a lot of time in a seated position, that might be the reason why you're getting puffy. Is it possible to prop your feet without looking like a slacker at work?
08-20-2008, 10:19 AM
Hello everyone! Super quick post for me. Just got in to work and have a staff meeting in 10 minutes. Have to go clean the conference room as another dept. in our office left it a BIG mess. Sigh.
It'll be a long meeting, but I hope to be back later for personals! Thank goodness I had a healthy SB breakfast!
08-20-2008, 10:30 AM
Good Wednesday morning chicks and Matt,
Another beautiful day here.
so today, dd as in dear dad volunteered to take my car in for a brake job, and I am going to take him up on it. I have been squealing all over the place although DH assured me before he left that I wouldn't need one until he got back. Dad thinks the garage will take advantage of me and try to talk me into unnecessary calipers. So funny, I don't think he will ever realize that I am 45YO and mechanical things are not over my head and I don't let people take advantage of me. Well it still makes him happy to take care of us and it helps me out to not have to take the morning off and drag the kids along, although I feel a little guilty.
Otherwise should be pretty quiet around here.
Nessa, calorie counting and SBD are totally compatible, I have done them together before, I think it does help if you are at a stall. Are you still Becking too? I think we can allow you to go hang out with the calorie counters if you want, as long as you don't forget about us! I hang out in the 100 lb club as well as SBD because not everybody here has as much to lose as I do and I get some good info and support up there too.
zeff, did you have the birthday dinner last night or were you cooking for tonight? How did it go?
Good job getting back on plan LC!
Steph, it's true when you hit 40 everything starts to go South.
Good morning Twynn, Loriann, and bonjour to Belle!
Wow, cottage and Ruth, you gals sure are busy today. cottage, we'll be doing the happy dance together on Monday morning!
Autumn, Phase I really makes you think outside the box for breakfasts. some of my favorite breakfast "discoveries" are from Ph1 desperation - beans, regular or refried, soup...
Hope I didn't miss anyone, want to get this posted before there are 6 more simulposts up! Have a great day chicks.
08-20-2008, 10:37 AM
Schmoodle, like it or not, mechanics DOI take advantage of females.
Recently I had my car in, and they told me 600 for different things, I told them I'd call right back. I was having lunch with a friend of mine so when i called the shop and said "Ziggie says it doesn't need this" they said "Ziggie from Peko?" I said yes, their tone changed, and I got it all done for 499~! GGRRR
08-20-2008, 10:41 AM
Hiya gang Just wanted to let you know I may be MIA for a few days as the bad weather is starting to move in and should only get worse with lots of rain high winds and tornados so in case of any power outages i will check in after the storm - take care and i'll "see" yall soon
08-20-2008, 10:52 AM
Be safe Gonna, many prayers for you and all the others in florida!
08-20-2008, 11:02 AM
Hunker down and stay safe Gonna, we will be thinking about you. Check back when you can.
08-20-2008, 11:24 AM
Wow, busy morning! No time for personals today, sadly. :( Hope all is going well, though. :)
In the excitement file, we've had a couple of visitations from bats in our house lately (nope, not the belfry...). I LOVE bats...I think they are wonderful! But my husband isn't so thrilled...and he's worried about our dog, which I can understand, though I know most bats don't have rabies. Anyways, when the first one showed up, Friday night, we helped him find the door out and it was no big deal (though I was excited to see him...so cute!). Another one showed up last night while I was in the shower, so DH was stuck dealing with it on his own and wasn't so thrilled. I came downstairs to find every single light on and DH running around, muttering, looking for where it might have come in. We can't figure it out--our chimney is completely sealed up (we get bad drafts in the winter), there aren't any obvious places, and it's driving DH crazy. Poor guy! Anyways, I'm going to Theology on Tap tonight alone so DH can stay home and try to seal up the two possible places they might be getting in (even though we're both pretty sure they aren't using either). Oh well...maybe that means DH will make dinner, too? :s:
Hope you all have a great day!
Okay, I can't stand not reading...and of course that leads to wanting to comment...
Can't wait to see the puppy olympics, Cat! Was this planned? I didn't even know you had a dog! :D
Ruth, Peter sounds like a breath of fresh air (and yummy, too! )
Nessa, we totally understand. Have you tried FitDay? I sometimes count calories on SBD...doing them both.
AutumnRose, check out the FAQ for a stickied thread that is about Breakfast Alternatives to Eggs. I hate them, so I started the thread, but tons of people have contributed with great ideas.
Loriann, does your pup make a big puddle when he goes after you take him out? He may be marking his territory if it's a small dribble. Is he fixed? Unfixed males are notorious for marking like crazy. Our pup goes in her crate and we've gone through tons trying to figure it out. She had crystals in her urine, which we fixed, we tried meds for incontinence and that didn't help, so now we have a referral to a behavior vet up in Ithaca. I'll let you know if we find something out.
08-20-2008, 11:33 AM
Good morning all! I cannot believe that I am already half way through my 3 weeks off. It's just flown by!!!
No time for personals today as I'm headed out soon to watch my friends two little girls while she preps her classroom. These girls are so cute, I go over every once in a while and cook dinner for their mom and I, and they LOVE to cook with me. So when I was talking with their mom to confirm coming over the older one asked to speak to me and got on the phone and promptly asked when I was coming over so we could cook. SO FUN!!! So we're going to make cranberry orange scones and chocolate chip cookies.
My day of pampering was a lot of fun. The girl did a really good job with my hair. It's nice to feel all clean and fresh. And we had a great time at the party with our friends.
Well, I better be going.....Have a good one!!!!
08-20-2008, 11:43 AM
I'm sooooooo late today but I have a good reason. Morning girls and Matt! Whoa, that was weird, it just posted my first 2 sentences and I wasn't done yet. Strange.....
So I worked 9-4:45 yesterday and got the call at 5:15 that neither of my closers had showed up, one of which disconnected their phone, the other wouldn't answer. So I went back to work and closed by myself, working 6:15-11:30 last night. Thus, why I'm late. I ate dinner at 11:45 last night and then went to bed. My legs hurt so bad from being on my feet all day that I didn't fall asleep right away. Got up near 9 today. Holy cow!
So now I have to go in at 1 for interviews instead of opening today, thank God. I hired one girl last night on the spot, and have two interviews today and will pick the better candidate. I'm so tired of this. I lost 3 people in the last week, one of which is ok because he went back to school, but the other two..... that's just shady.
Little Guy has a dentist appointment today, first one. This should be interesting. Hopefully everything goes smoothly!
Well, I guess I should get some breakfast and do something with myself before I have to work. Hope everyone has a good day!
08-20-2008, 11:45 AM
hmac, ummmm cranberry orange scones and chocolate chip cookies? You are a stronger woman than I am.
08-20-2008, 11:57 AM
08-20-2008, 01:00 PM
08-20-2008, 01:05 PM
YOu all are nasty! LOL,
thinks to herself, deny going to the store for cookies and scones...
you have taco bake to eat! hahaha
08-20-2008, 01:21 PM
mmmm taco bake!
Maybe I'll repurpose some frozen chili tonight? and get FF RF beans
Long day swamped!!
08-20-2008, 02:02 PM
*cue Homer Simpson* Mmmmm....Taco Bake....
I've made a really, really yummy cherry almond scone that's SBD safe. I even served it at a party I had earlier this year and people really liked them, even though they were SF/WW! :T
08-20-2008, 02:30 PM
I have had zero success with making scones...they don't rise at all or something. Do you have a trick, hmac or beachgal?
08-20-2008, 02:41 PM
I have had zero success with making scones...they don't rise at all or something. Do you have a trick, hmac or beachgal?
If you shoot me one of the recipes that you've used....I can see if I can troubleshoot it.
Also, remember that scones hardly rise when they bake. They are very dense.
So, in all the eating that I've done over this vacation....I figured I would be +10 lbs. at least by now....I hopped on the scale this morning (with my eyes shut)...I was shocked when it said that I had lost another pound. I've done a LOT of eating, and a lot of really crappy eating with no gain. I wish it was this easy when I wasn't pregnant. :)
08-20-2008, 03:28 PM
Zeff, I was shocked to find out yesterday I've only gained 15 lbs. I eat so much. It's crazy!!
08-20-2008, 03:57 PM
:congrat: Zeff! I had no idea you were pregnant! I was about to ask your secret... :lol3:
Congrats, Jessie! That's great! So, is the 25 pounds you're supposed to gain the amount by the very end?
Here's (http://splenda.allrecipes.com/Recipe/Recipe.aspx?nprid=76239)the recipe I used for the scones--I just adjusted it to make it SBD-safe...so WW pastry flour, no sugar on top (though I did that on some of the ones for my party), and sugar-free dried cherries. They rise just enough to make them soft, but Zeff's right in that they stay fairly dense. They're delicious...and addictive! Definitely need to freeze the ones you aren't eating right away...
08-20-2008, 03:58 PM
Cottagebythesea, sounds like you had quite the busy day!
AutumnRose, I feel ya, I am also sick of eggs. I'm gonna get some ricotta and try those mock pancakes that are posted in the recipe section, with some SF maple syrup if I find it.
Loriann, hope you get the job! It seems like you're considered to be the best candidate. Sounds promising! :D
Ladybugnessa, the calorie counters section has a great sticky about how to sort of 'calculate' the calories you should take in and then how to adjust accordingly (if you haven't already seen it!) I still check calories, if I don't I could easily go overboard.
Gonnabe165, good luck, hope the storm isn't too bad. :)
Beachgal, oh, bats are so adorable. I imagine they wouldn't be so adorable with their fangs in one's arm, dripping rabies-infected saliva into one's wounds.... but adorable nonetheless! If they weren't rabid (well, they are in my area, at least) I would love to have one as a pet. So I agree, bats rock.
Weezle, that happened to me the other day... (magically posting the first few sentences of the post before I was even done). I'm not sure why.
EVERYONE, stop talking about scones! I'm so hungry right now. Nah, just kidding, by all means talk about scones and I'll just live vicariously through you all. I'm gonna go eat some cucumber and hummus to kill the cravings. I need to get out to the grocery store!
Sorry to those I missed, there just wasn't enough info in the posts to come up with any sort of response. not trying to be rude in any way.
Me: I'm just trying to come up with something to make for dinner. I have chicken, but I had chicken for lunch yesterday (made my own chicken peanut sauce satay with broccoli, inspired by JessieW's recipe), and a grilled chicken bacon ranch salad from McDonalds for dinner, scraped off the bacon but didn't fret too much when some ended up in my mouth. I have porkchops, but I don't want them. I have beef steaks... hmm, yes! I think I'll do that, and then sbd mashed 'potatoes' and more veggies on the side. Okay, problem solved as I typed.
My friends came over last night and we stayed outside talking for 3 hours... we haven't hung out in like 3 month... they didn't leave until 3 am, way past my bedtime. I had a lot of fun since I haven't got to talk to them in awhile. Anyway, my point to this story is: my best friend's boyfriend, pointed at me and said 'YOU got skinny.' And my bff was like, 'yeah, I can tell you have definitely lost some weight.' And I said, 'well I certainly did not get skinny, I have another 30 lbs or so to go, but I have lost a lot of weight since giving birth.' And I thanked them for noticing because it made me feel great. And my friend's bf was like, 'yeah, you still had some pregnancy belly going on the last time we saw you and now you're drowning in your clothes!" Heh, I was like, Gee, thanks. Thanks for noticing my Santa belly the last time... heh. Ahh, men. So cute. At least he said I got skinny, which is so not true! But made me feel great. I really MUST have been a bloated whale if compared to my weight then, I seem skinny now! I think it's the height.
Anyway, the feeling of success I felt was awesome, just realizing that not only does the scale show the weight loss, but the way my clothes fit and the way people react after not having seen me in a few months also shows my weight loss thus far! Yay! Since BF and my mom see me all of the time, since of course BF and I live together, and my mom visits weekly to see her grandson, they don't really seem to notice! Somebody did! I'm thrilled. :D
08-20-2008, 04:17 PM
Laurie, I think if you're overweight the goal is to gain 15-25. I will be thrilled if I can stay under 25 lbs gained.
08-20-2008, 06:38 PM
AutumnRose - More often then not I will have 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for breakfast sprinkled with cinnamon and splenda and a can of Tomato Juice. Even now that I’m on Phase 2 this is my standby quick, easy breakfast.
Me: All this talk about school is making me melancholy for the good old days when the girls were little. I love the freedom of not having children depending on me anymore but sure miss the buzz of activity that went along with having them small.
08-20-2008, 08:29 PM
OK, so I'm about ready for the drama to stop. Why it follows me, I have no idea, unless there really is a family curse. Someone apparently broke into my car. Two other cars got hit in the neighborhood. Not sure if they took anything more than change, but just destroyed it. All the contents of my glove compartment everywhere, everything just turned upside down.
And on top of it, we need some major prayers. Tommy's dad just found out he has a blood clot in his jugular. Going to the doctor tomorrow first thing to find out what they can do for him. He's in his mid-50's, not very old.
I'm getting to my saturation point with the stress. Please pray for Tom's dad. Thanks everybody.
08-20-2008, 09:00 PM
Hello everyone! Sorry I have not been on lately but since I was off a week with my suregery I have had to work alot of overtime. Anyways...my first 3 days have been good I have lost 6 lbs. I feel pretty good other than just being tired from working 10-12 hour days. Just wanted to drop in and say HI!:)
