100 lb. Club - Reintroducing Myself After Having a Baby!

08-14-2008, 11:33 AM
Hi everyone! I'm sure there are lots of new folks here whom I don't know. I posted here in the 100lb. club lots over the last year or two. I lost 115 pounds and got to my goal weight of 165 pounds back in October of last year. I went from being an obese, sedentary, unhappy woman to being a runner and cross country coach who felt better than ever. Because my body was finally healthy, I was able to get pregnant after years of trying. I met my goal in October and conceived around the beginning of November! It was a wonderful surprise, and my baby was born last Thursday, 8/7. I gained 78 pounds with the pregnancy. I've always been a fast gainer, but going from running 25 or 30 miles a week and eating a limited amount of calories to eating WAY too much and only walking a bit here and there really took a toll on my body. 78 pounds!!! I was in size 8 for about five minutes before I got pregnant, and now I'm roaming around in my maternity clothes and big T-shirts. I threw away my fat clothes, so I really HAVE to lose the weight!

Anyway, long story short (too late, I know), I'm back and I'm hoping to lose the pregnancy weight very SLOWLY. I'm breastfeeding, so that will probably help. I've lost 17 pounds since I gave birth last week (obviously some of that was my 8 1/2 pound baby...) and I'm really only hoping for about a pound a week until I can somehow find the time and ability to start running again. I'm in no hurry at all. I just know that I need the support of 3FC because this board was a HUGE part of my success in the past. I've updated my info and taken off my lovely 115 pounds lost chickie avatar and my ticker that showed I reached my goal. Time to face the music!!

I hope to get to know all the new folks here and reconnect with the ones I talked to before! :)

Oh yeah! I posted baby pictures down in the Pregnant/Nursing forum and the Maintenance thread, but I forgot to do it here!

Henry Clay (he's a fourth) was born on Thursday, 8/7, at 5:31pm and weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 21 1/2 inches long. He has really long fingers (he'll play the piano like mommy) and a cute little dimple in his chin. I'll attach three pictures of him, one featuring a very proud daddy right after the birth.

Thanks for the warm welcome back. I'm happy to be here, because the 100 lb club was so instrumental to my weight loss success in the past and I know I'll need your support and encouragement. I hope to do the same for you guys.

He's so sweet, Lisa! Welcome back!!!!

I know we are both high school English teachers - when do you go back? I hope you have a nice chunk of maternity leave left, so you can enjoy your little guy.

You lost the weight one time, so I know you can do it again! Also, I've heard that breastfeeding really helps the weight come off.

I know we are both high school English teachers - when do you go back? I hope you have a nice chunk of maternity leave left, so you can enjoy your little guy.

I'm taking a year's leave of absence so I can stay with the little guy all year! I'm thrilled, though we'll be seriously broke and I'm not even sure yet how we'll make it work. Unfortunately, my husband is supposed to go back next week (we teach at the same school) -- he's thinking of taking the next two weeks off, though, if they can find a sub for him.

Thanks for all your sweet comments about my little one, everyone -- I can't get over how much I love him!!

I've been lurking around again, hoping to get back motivated now that hubby is deployed, but I had to come out of the cave to say Welcome Back, I missed your posts, and Wow, he's a cute lil guy! Congratulations, I can't believe it's been that long already!

Welcome back and on the birth of your beautiful son. Gosh It does not seem 9 months ago since you told us that you were going to hear the sound of the patter of tiny feet.

I have no doubt that you will acheive your goal as you have done it before and already have the tools. Look forward to hearing more from you.
