Morning all!

Sorry I haven't posted much this week . Been getting to school at 6 and leaving at 5...crazy week, but hopefully it will settle down soon. I'm trying to deal with a "no morning snack" situation. No time for it. The kids don't have recess till 1:15 and lunch is at 11:40, so I don't get a break till lunch! So far, so good though and my body is adjusting. I just make sure I get a really good breakfast and lunch! It really amazes me now what other people at schoool eat for lunch...chips out of the vending machine, fried foods and "gulp" cafeteria food. ouch!! I am so happy with my leftovers and really look forward to lunch! The principal put in a new water machine the other day and I'm thrilled about that.

Good news. I bought a new pair of linen draw string pants the other day. Didn't try them on and grabbed a size M. Got them home and they were WAY too big. Brought them back after work yesterday and exchanged them for a S. Never thought I'd ever see a S again!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning!

Cat, you get the Early Bird Award today, thanks for starting us up! :) Your days sure have been full, I hope they settle down to a more orderly fashion for you very soon! Congratulations on the NSV with your new pants! Some of your motivation is starting to rub off on me and give me renewed determination! Have a wonderful day, Sweetie!

Today is my GD, Amber's, birthday; she's 8 years old today! She's going to spend the day with the girls and I. We're going to go to either Moonbounce or Boomer's, and I'm taking them out for pizza and ice cream for lunch. The girls are all very excited and it should make for a nice day for all. :)

Good morning, Early Chicks. The Doggage and I have been up for a while and have done a few things in the kitchen. I wish I could find out who messes it up during the night.

Cat, isn't it terrible what people eat? I've never been a fast food fan but find I have to keep the look of disgust off my face when I go through a food court at a shopping centre. Yeah for the water cooler AND the pants NSV!

Cottage, my GD Tayler is 8 as well. Too bad we can't make it a foursome - I can imagine the giggles! It sounds like a perfect lunch for a birthday celebration, even if it is food porn.

I'm feeling puffy this morning and the scale has blipped up a bit! The chicken recipe from last night was salty but the real culprit was the last batch of zucchini chips that were made with garlic salt. I just munched away, thinking "Only 40 calories for all this!" and have football feet and sausage fingers this morning. WATER!

Yesterday I got the probable diagnosis of Hershey's problem but we will be going to the Alta Vista (Ottawa) clinic later this month to firm up the diagnosis and determine treatment. Leslie thinks she has Cushings (http://www.chastainvets.info/focus/fs_cushings.htm) which appears to be treatable. I'm quite sure that's what it is because she has nearly all the symptoms.

Looks like we may have a decent day for a change - we have been getting rain every afternoon this month - and last too, for that matter. I am going to throw together a herb planter for the Saturday Garden show and finally get to my weekend baking. Aside from the usual task of lugging the trash to the road, there's nothing else on the schedule today. I may disconnect the phones and park my car behind the barn so people think I'm away. I need a hermit day!

Have a great Thursday with only soft thunder!

Good morning Chicks :coffee2:

Well back from the parents and the land without an internet. It was a good visit. I stayed on plan and even got quite a bit of exercising in, including walking their male dobe. I'm sure that made up for not bringing weights with me! I've realized that I should visit more often. It's the first time I ever saw my parents as frail. They are so young I never see them that way but with my Dad's health issues and the stress it places on my Mom they really feel that way when you're with them. Now my brother is moving to VA and he's been the one nearby. Their eating habits improved while I was there, especially my Mom's. I made whole grain cereals and pancakes for breakfast, walked every day and added veggies to their dinner.

Cat- Wow, sounds really busy. How do you like the new school so far? Congrats on the NSV :carrot:

Cottage - Have a fun day :)

Ruth - I remember reading about Cushings when we had our dog. I hope having a diagnosis will help her get back on track. Strange coincidences - my parents dog has been tested for thyroid because he has skin problems. His was also negative but his skin is a mess!

LoriAnn - Found out my little bro lives either right in or outside of Canandaigua, Small world :) I've never been to his place though and he's moving to VA the end of the month.

I've got lots of domestic things on my To Do list today. I want to get a batch of fruits and a batch of veggies done before heading out camping Sunday morning. I also need to do all the usual house stuff plus garden (came back with a bunch of plants from Mom's garden). I just hope the rain holds off most of the day.

It's good to be back!

Good morning chickies!

Cat - ugh. That first week has to be rough! The only thing that holds me are omelettes.....Good luck! (and congrats on the S!!)

Cottage - 8 has got to be a cute age!! That'll be fun!!

Ruth - Cushings. UGH. There's an expensive disease for ya! The medicine helps Soooo much though. Good luck!

Cyndi - sounds like a busy day....it's definately going to rain here though today!

Me - Full day at work. Pretty routine. Doubt I'll have time to work out (unless it's at 9 pm), but we'll see.

I'm on freecycle, someone's giving me 2 years worth of RunningWorld magazine, to feed my new obsession. Yeah!!

Have a good one, everybody!!

Good Morning Ladies!

Cyndi I was hoping you'd stop in and say hi! Glad your visit went well. AS children we tend to look at our parents as sort of a superhero figure that will never grow old or die, so when it does happen it is sort of a shock to us. I'm glad you have had this chance to be with yours! Cherish the moments. My daddy died when I was five, mom died when I was 18... Needless to say I miss them both dearly.

Hugs ruth! I'm glad you found a diagnosis for Hershey. Poor girl! What do they do to treat it? Hmmm, a hermit day sounds right up my alley today, lots to pray about!

Have a great birthday party Cottage! Sounds like a fun day out with the girls.

Femme, congrats on the NSV and hurry back to visit us, we miss you! OK, I miss you!

Me... trusting the Lord for the situation my son has found himself in. I just hope what I told him yesterday he takes to heart. He's hiding, not telling anyone where he's staying, which isn't good. (He's still living at the other place, but right now he's somewhere where no one knows, been there all week.)

Good morning all! Nothing exciting for me today, the kids have school and I intend on getting some serious cleaning done. This house seems to get dusty faster than any other house that I've lived in (or I just clean less often lol).

Femme - congrats on the small, that is awesome!

Cottage - what a nice day for you GD. Have fun!

Ruth - have a great hermit day!

Cyndi - glad you had a good visit with your parents.

Twynn- good score on the magazine!

Bonjour, my friends!

Today is a marathon writing day for me after I clear the cobwebs. Hubby had to go out of town again so I have no distractions except for my puppy who wants to play 24/7!

Cat, it sounds like you are loving your new job and settling into a good routine. That's wonderful. Congrats on the pants!

Cottage, have fun with the girls!

Ruth, I hope that you "unpuff" soon. Happens to me, too. Sorry about the suspected Cushings diagnosis for your pup. A dog of mine had borderline Cushings.

Cyndi, Sounds like you have a full day ahead. It's always a little hard to see the parents getting older.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good morning chicks, today is my last workday this week, yippee! I wish you could all come with us tomorrow, but we will give a full report and I'm bringing my camera.
We had a nice impromptu family dinner last night with the whole crowd, felt like summer, except we had to eat indoors because it was a little stormy. I haven't had a chance to spray my mosquito guard yet, because it's supposed to be done when there's no rain predicted for the next two days, and we have pop-up thundershowers predicted EVERY day lately, even though we don't always get them. I am going to get it done this weekend, looks like I'll have a little window of no rain.
The kids went to see Dark Knight last night, but I heard it was pretty intense, so I pulled out DD2 and took her to see Kung Fu Panda instead, which was very cute!
Now the cousins have gone back home so things should settle down around here.
Last night DS gave me this tragic look and said "Go ahead, just break it to me, it must be only 3 or 4 days until school starts, right?" He was so happy to hear he had 12 whole days of summer left.

Pearl, me too, nothing exciting today...
See you soon Nessa and cottage! Happy Birthday Audrey!
Happy writing Belle!
Happy cleaning Autumn!
Loriann, is he hiding from you too or do you know where he is? Poor mom.
Twynn, I've gotta check out freecycle one of these days. It's a great concept.
Cyndi, where in VA is bro moving? Will you ever come down this way for a visit?
Ruth, could you "throw together" one of those herb planters for me too please?
Cat, I know just what you mean. While I'm still tempted by some things, other stuff I used to eat just disgusts me now and I don't see how I could ever go back to eating it. It's a nice feeling. Sometimes I think I'd like to take just a taste though because I'd like to see how it compares to the way I used to think it tasted. Probably everything would just taste really salty and rich. Good luck settling into your new routine!

Hey all. Had to LOL at the last 2-3 pgs. of yesterday's chat this morning. Wanna talk about bras? Apparently as baby has grown so has under my bust or whatever...all of a sudden my bra is painfully tight. It's insane! And we don't even want to talk about how big the girls are...thinking of my milk coming in makes me want to cry a little.

Cyndi, Do your parents live in VA Beach? I grew up in Richmond and I still miss it! It's nice to be somewhere different but I am hoping next year we'll be moving back to the East Coast somewhere. Mom and Dad (both sides) live near Cottage up there in PA and they would love it if DH could find a job near them. But since he's looking for a college professor job in his field we will have to go where he can find one.

Gah...I have gotten next to nothing done this morning. And I have meetings from lunch all the way through the afternoon. Yuck!

Good morning Ladies! Happy Thursday!
Cat - I'm so sorry to hear that you have to wait so long before you get a break. That's a really long time to be in the classroom, without a break, at that age. What time does school start? Good job planning and packing. Congrats on the size "small". AWESOME!

Cottage - Have fun with the girls today! Be good with the food porn!

Ruth - So happy to hear that you think you've figured out what's up with Hershey. I hope the treatment is relatively easy and fast acting. Funny you should mention an herb garden. I'm going to be picking up some herb starter plants for me to plant this coming Monday. I might be inclined to be asking for some help in the near future.

Cyndi - Welcome back! Sorry to hear that you're now seeing your parents in a different way.....I'm so not looking forward to that when my mom starts to get frail. I simply can't imagine. Here's to hoping you're productive today with your TO DO list.

Twynnb - Enjoy your new subscription!

Loriann - So sorry to hear that you're son is not making smart decisions. I'll pray for clarity for him and peace for you. I hope everything turns out alright.

Autumnrose - Good luck with the cleaning!

Belle Mer - OK...so does your puppy do what mine do.....You're on the computer and suddenly they're at your feet with a toy to throw. You throw it once and then twice and then before you know it it's a 10 min. fetch session. Silly pups, mine have become obsessed with the Kong I bought them. Good luck writing today.

Nessa - Good luck getting everything done today!

Pearlrose -

Schmoodle - The story about your ds is precious! Too funny....LOL funny! Poor guy, he must love being on summer break!

KO - Good job not going out for dinner! And congrats on the NSV! Great Job!

Gonna - Have fun at softball tonight!

Me - OK...so Sears is my new favorite store. Went yesterday because they're having a FANTASTIC SALE (all clearance 40% off the marked price) and found 3 new pairs of capris (all size 20!!!! AND 5.99 each!!!!!) and the two shirts I also found were size 16/18!!!! I know that most store's sizes aren't like that.....but I LOVE SEARS!!!! Very fun! So I officially retired a few pairs of pants yesterday. Feels good.
Today I'm scrapping with my good friend, not to exciting, but it will be good to continue to work on my book. It's a never ending task.

Melanie - Hey, you live in NC....when it gets closer to the end of next week, can I pm you and get a weather report, since dh and I will be headed out your way?

Have a great day, ladies!!!
ENJOY!

Jessie - I missed you! Good morning...I hope you're able to find more comfortable bras when you're nursing!

I need to go to Sears!! I REALLY need some transition clothes!

If your going to sears after every ten pounds your gonna be broke!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Fat Melanie
08-14-2008, 12:29 PM
So do I, my clothes are baggy, these black pants I had during the latter stages of my pregnancy now practically hang off of me so I have been wearing them as pajama pants along with t shirts that used to be a bit snug around my hips and now are baggy! (*does a little dance*) Plus some of my more tighter daytime shirts look great, as in I may be overweight but still have a shape, yay! During pregnancy I wasn't sure anymore.

So I hope everyone is doing really well.

Okay, so now I'm really confused because I can't remember if the two lbs I've lost recently, from 195-193, were in the last week of July or the first week of August. I have to go backtrack what weight I was in the beginning of July. The reason why this is important is to make sure I accurately reach my 5lb goal this month.

So today we are getting one of those small digital recorders so we can get BF's mom on tape admitting to some of the crap that she's pulled over the past couple of years. He finally got the motion to intervene and the complaint papers yesterday and OMG, it's such a bunch of bull! For example, it states that "the plaintiff and defendant cannot physically and financially take care of the minor child." Well that's really odd, really it is, when said Plaintiff and Defendant both have children with other people who are living with them in their respective homes and are PERFECTLY FINE! He confronted her on the phone the day before last because she had stopped and tried to harass him at work, and asked her why she was doing this, and she kept claiming it is in his daughter's best interest to remain with her (what she really means is, it's in HER best interest to keep the daughter) and that she's not worried about Liam because he and I are taking care of him (hah, I knew BF's brother was a spy but I'll forgive it since he does love his nephew and he is only going back and giving that b*tch good reports), and she said she doesn't feel it's in the daughter's best interests to grow up with her siblings!!!

That just makes NO sense whatsoever and a smart judge can see right through that BS. A smart judge can see that she has no real strong reasons that it is in the daughter's best interest to grow apart from her siblings and parents, and that she really just wants her for herself.

Yeah, so, we finally found a lawyer who not only actually answered the phone HIMSELF, but who said that they will definitely win and that he's not afraid to take the case.... but then he revealed his insane price. BF politely declined. I mean, we could qualify for legalaid if that evil woman hadn't been there first. So yes we pay our bills but affording a lawyer? Forget about it. He talked to another one on the phone who wants to meet him on Tuesday (presumably for free, the man said nothing about a consultation fee so let's cross our fingers) and the man said that he would charge $2500, something less expensive than the other lawyers want, but still something impossible to come up with in a month! The court date is september 15th. And that is ex-wife's due date! So the lawyer told BF for him to show up in court and request a continuance since he does not yet have legal counsel. In the meanwhile this particular lawyer said he would take payments until the fee was paid off, but wouldn't make an appearance in court until he had the full amount. HOWEVER, he would go over the papers and such. OUR LUCKY BREAK! Not just that, but then BF's dear friend and part-time boss told him not to worry about a thing because that lawyer was gonna be paid for. BF can work it off later.

THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!

So I'm hoping my plan involving the tape recorder works, he can go to her house, question her, hope to get some contradicting answers on tape, and then on monday when he goes to get his money back from his ex lawyer, he can also question him with the hidden tape recorder and when the lawyer says the reason why he didn't take it back to court is because of BF's mother, well then we've got them both, and that shady lawyer can get disbarred.

Hah.

Mel, I'm confused... why does gramma have the child anyway?

The grandmother would constantly interfere in her son's marriage, to the point of accusing his wife of abuse and neglect and had social services involved. This led to great strain on the marriage especially when the wife felt like BF was not defending her adequately against his domineering mom, and just wanted him to uh, get off the uh, mammary gland so to speak. The wife left twice, came back tried to make it work, but Grandmother just wasn't having it. It got to the point where the wife was sick of the grandmother's intereference and accusations and left for good, filing for custody of the daughter, and my BF filed a counterclaim for full custody of the daughter. In court BF was pretty distraught b/c his wife had left him and took his daughter, he felt that men don't get fair shakes in the courtroom, and thought he would lose his daughter for good. He had his mother as a witness and she did most of the talking, telling lies about his ex wife (such as she was abusive, neglectful and would sleep all day and not take care of the baby and that she and everyone else was taking care of her, and she was lazy and didn't wanna work or clean, and blah blah blah, and neglected to tell the judge how the social services case on the ex wife was closed out!) and my Bf was just a wreck on the witness stand from all I have heard, and the judge gave temporary custody of the daughter to bf's mother, something which is pretty rare unless the grandmother had filed a motion to intervene between them at that time which she did not, she actually came to court to help her son gain custody out of spite for her daughter in law. The judge felt it would be in the child's best interest for the grandmother to have her for a month because of the conflict between the parties and ordered them to attend a psychological evaluation. But it's dragged on and on.

Now she has filed said motion to intervene for full custody after keeping it from going back to court the past 3 years.

Oh sorry, I went off and rambled, but yeah, that's why that evil ... creature... has the daughter at this time. And that woman started the same stuff with me and BF right before my child was born, like I was lazy, didn't clean, didn't wanna work, blah blah blah, and then when my child was born, suddenly I was sleeping all day and not taking care of the baby, and etc etc etc... and a sort of lightbulb just went off in BF's head... heh, because he knew damn well I was taking care of my son day and night!

Again, sorry I rambled when the answer to your question could have been more simple... but urggh, it's just such a mess of a situation and I know I am not a party to this action but I feel it every bit as much as it it were happening to me because that is my child's father and that is his daughter and my son deserves to grow up with that child. And I'm so scared that evil biatche will be after my son next.

I hope that woman's lies don't strip them of their Constitutionally protected status as parents... she's saying in her papers that the things she claims such as them not being interested in her welfare or interested in her period, and not visiting her, and supposedly neglecting her and not being able to supposedly financially and physically take care of her has interfered with their rights as parents and it's in her best interests to be placed with HBIC (head biatche in charge, which is what we call bf's mom). Just got off the phone with my mom and was reading her some of the stuff and she is so outraged in my bf's defense, she hates that HBIC.

If you don't mind me asking and being incredibly forthcomingly nosy... what sort of stuff happened in your situation? (I gather it was your situation or someone elses you are close to).. I am curious, you may know how to fight this.

Wow! So many posts and so much I need to do at work.

I had to take Brian in for a fasting trigylceride test this morning. Last year at his physical his nonfasting test showed a high level and they wanted to repeat it. It is now perfectly normal. Yeah!!

I've got a busy night of scout stuff but it's the fun kind of work that I really enjoy. Brian is coming in uniform to greet people for the Roundtable and Program Preview. He makes me so proud.

Mel - Robert has told lots of lies about me to his friends, the judge, the couselor doing our social study and the lawyers. I've just got a good lawyer and I make sure to stay calm and logical when speaking to anyone but a close friend. I also make sure that everything I put in email or text message to him is something that I would not be ashamed to have read to a judge. Believe me, I have kept his nasty emails just in case I need them. I'm not sure about the legality of videotaping that you plan to do but then I support computers and not the law. I'm hoping for the best outcome for your BF's daughter. This has to be really rough for a child to go through.

Hey Mel, because each state and judge is different, instead of opening old wounds (NO, It was not me)... I'm going to refer you to this website I found the other day and asked questions aboutmy son! http://www.expertlaw.com/ They have lawyers that volunteer and ask questions, check it out!

Loriann, thank you for referring me to this website, I'm going to check it out immediately.

Ruthxx, I definitely understand your point because there is a chance of the parties I speak of finding out about what I write, but I don't think any of the parties I have mentioned in my posts will be viewing this website. The lady I speak of has no interest in weight loss websites at all to my knowledge, she basically just checks her email and freecycle. I know I post things that are pretty personal, and that everyone elses' personals aren't quite as personal, just stuff about their day and etc so I often try to keep myself from posting about these things, because I feel they probably are too personal, but then I just end up doing so anyway. I don't do it to annoy anyone or whine or complain, but I do so because it's an anonymous forum to some extent and sometimes I just need to vent so bad... and I feel comfortable on this forum and sometimes just let loose with the drama. I do so because I'm hoping that if anybody has experienced something similar and may have some advice or opinions then I may find out any sort of useful information. It may seem unrelated to weight loss but it is, because stress often is detrimental to weight loss so I try to just vent (although I realize most people don't pay my rambling posts any mind, lol, but it just relieves some stress to just type it all out if that makes any sense)... and yeah, I'm rambling again, sorry. I just thought I would explain why I always post about that personal stuff... I should get a personal blog I suppose and stop bothering everyone. :p

I didn't mean to conduct myself in an inappropriate manner on the Chat by any means... just venting. Sorry for my long rambling post above. :)

Barb, I'm glad Brian's triglyceride levels are normal again although I don't profess to know what triglyceride levels all!:p I hope all is well though.

Thank you for your kind and understanding words. I hope for the best outcome as well... Luckily in NC, you can record what someone says without their knowledge as long as one party (oneself, heh heh) is aware of it and then use it in court. I'm gonna tell BF to do as you do and not do anything that he would be ashamed to have heard by a judge, that's a very good idea. Thanks again. :)

:

Ruth, I am so very sorry to hear about the Cushings. My boxer was diagnoses two years ago, the treatment I could get for him would improve his quality of life but it wasn't a cure. He would have had to stay on the medication for the rest of his life and continue with lab work every 4-6 weeks to monitor his reaction to the meds. It was very difficult for me because the cost of the medication plus the blood work made it cost prohibitive to move forward with the treatment. The only comforting things was that he was a good old boy so his life wasn’t cut significantly short by the disease but the quality certainly wasn’t what it would have been without it. Hopefully this won’t be the case for you. Please keep us posted on how Hershey does.

Wow Ladynessa, I did as you suggested and like, every webpage that came up had your name on it! And I could tell it was indeed you because one of the pages mentioned the SBD. Luckily- although Melanie is my real name- the people I speak of don't know I use "fat melanie" as a username, my email and such is different. Hopefully they never will find out...

Still, it does bring to my attention how easily they could find anything that I write. Hopefully none of it could be used against me... I could always deny that it's me but... heh. That would be hard to do. "Melanie in NC" and all.

Ooh you go girl, a younger man! That's awesome. (yes I was curious and checked out a page!) :D
