Someone had to do it and I guess it is my turn. Trudy has a broken nail and Maria really is working and Ann is going to flea markets and Rita really is losing. Hope your weekend was nice. See you all later,

Trudy has a broken nail and Maria really is working and Ann is going to flea markets and Rita really is losing. Hope your weekend was nice. See you all later, survivor 04-01-2002, 12:30 PM Peggy, thanks for sharing the load with all these hard workers. We all want to have the sandwich you were talking about. All - when I say "puppy" I mean my baby. Kassie is our 10 year-old-dog who will always be our "puppy." Well, sounds like you all had and some like Ann are continuing to have a great Easter holiday. We all went to my sisters. She had 31 people. Ten of them were my family. It is so much fun when all the cousins and their families get together. But, I ATE. I certainly stayed away from the jelly beans--way too few calories--and went straight to the pie, the chocolate candy bars and the cakes. Therefore, I don't feel too well today. I think I am just paying for my gluttony. Oh well, we had fun! Glenda painter5 04-01-2002, 05:40 PM Glenda go for the goodies. You can pay back this week. I had brunch at my nieces. We had all kinds of things. It is just nice for family to be together. Glenda I like the name Kassie. She sounds so cute and sweet. Where are the rest of you? Too much Easter? Ann what did you buy at the flea market? I want to go too. I went to one Saturday morning. I bought this wire thing that you hang on the wall for mail. It has two pouches. I put green moss in each and bought some little pansies and put them in plastic bags in the middle of the moss. I hung it on my porch. It is cute. It doesn't take much to excite me. I made this for dinner or I should say my dh did. I found the recipe and he made it while I was walking. It was good and I would make it again Balsamic Chicken Ingredients 2 tsp vegetable oil 3 Tbsp balsamic vinegar 2 tsp Dijon mustard 1 large garlic clove(s), crushed 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast(s), four 4 oz pieces 2 cup mushroom(s), small, halved 1/3 cup chicken broth 1/4 tsp dried thyme, crumbled Instructions In a nonstick skillet, heat 1 teaspoon of oil. In a medium bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar, the mustard and garlic. Add chicken and turn to coat. Transfer chicken and marinade to skillet. Sauté chicken until cooked through, about 3 minutes on each side. Transfer chicken to a platter and keep warm. Heat remaining teaspoon of oil in skillet. Sauté mushrooms for 1 minute. Add broth, thyme and remaining tablespoon of vinegar. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are deep brown, about 2 minutes longer. Serve chicken topped with mushrooms. POINTS Serves | 4 POINTS per serving | 4 I forgot today was April Fool's Day and didn't get to trick anyone. See you all tomorrow.. flaggies 04-01-2002, 07:47 PM G'day all, I was thrown into a bit of a panic first thing this morning, the server was down again:( Thank goodness it is back up again. It was great to read everyone's post. Sounds like everyone had an interesting and enjoyable Easter. My Easter was quite hectic with our friends, tomorrow dd and husband are arriving. I have made an appointment with a doctor today. I don't want to sound like a whinging person but I feel so exhausted all the time and I am not the best to live with at the moment:mad: , I also feel quite homesick and the thought of being here for another 6 months ...........and then what.........:?: I am sure it will pass again but I thought I had better have a check up because to feel so tired is just ridiculous. Will check in later today again.... Cheers Maria Karen L 04-01-2002, 08:15 PM I did try to start a new thread last night but off it went into cyber space. Been back from vacation for a week and I think I need to go on another 0ne or maybe that is the trouble I shouldn't go on any at all. :dizzy: We spent last week worrying about DH. He forgets just how old he is and tends to work like a 30 year old. :( So he had a bout with his heart. So far it looks like it is stress that he brings on himself by working too hard. He needs to slow down. We have all these plans for retirement and I want him alive!!!! Today he went for a Thallium Stress test we'll know the results Thursday. But it must not be life threating or I'm sure they would have done some further testing. I could be wrong. But I sure hope not. Also I am on medication again for an ear infection plus a sore throat and Pain when I breath. Vacations always do this to us I think we wont call them vacations any more . We''ll just call them breaks between working. :?: I have been keeping up with you all tho. You are a busy group. All of you having fun . Thats great. that is what life is all about. Slavika is the bathroom ok now? I think I would have been more than a little upset over all that happened. I don't remember who posted the web site on the color thing. that was great. I did all the choosing and the print out was really close to me. Kind of freaky. Even my DH agreed with it. DD is leaving for Cancun Thursday. She is going with that friend of her's that had the gasto -by- pass last summer. You should see her she is drop dead gorgeous. Who knew? Anyway they are leaving husbands and kids to have some fun in the sun. I did tell you all that we got that baby grandaughter didn't I :?: She is doing beautifully and her mom is great too. Almost back to her before baby weight. Oh! to be 25 again. We had snow again today. Won't it ever go away. One more thing then I'll shut up. I offically gave up one of my groups last Tuesday. So now I am free mondays until 3:00. And tuesdays up untill 5:00Pm. What will I do with all that time? Karen Trudy 04-01-2002, 11:32 PM We had a nice Easter day with the family. I sent most of the food home with my DD, so there aren't too many left overs. It is nice to have you back Karen. So sorry to hear you and your DH have problems. Ear infections are so painful. I hope the results from your DH's test are good. What a worry. I am sure you will find something to do with your spare time. Peggy Many thanks for starting the new thread.. you did a good job. That recipe looks good. I am always looking for a new way to cook chicken. You are so lucky your DH cooks. Glenda We sure do pay a heavy price for over indulging. You will feel better tomorrow. Oh Maria, I always think you have the most exciting life, but I can see where you want to go home already. I remember you saying that it was the home you wanted to retire in. It is good you are going to see your doctor, being fatigued is not a good thing. Hi Slavika. What were you up to today? Anymore work done on the bathroom? I didn't over eat yesterday, but I was still unable to fall asleep, so at midnight, I turned on the TV. A&E had a movie on called "Tea With Mussolini". I watched some of it and it looked interesting. They always repeat the movies so often I will watch it when it is on again. Cher was in the movie, and I hadn't seen her in a long while. She has had more "work" done to her face. She looked like a chipmunk with the cheek implants and her lips are so puffy that the lower lip cast a shadow on her chin and it looked like a little gotee (sp?). I think she looked so much better when she was in "Moonstruck" than she does now. I really don't know why she keeps on having these surgeries. Has anyone else seen her lately? Joan Rivers is another woman who keeps having face lifts. She is pulled so tight her eyes are slanted upwards. She looked better before. Well, those are all the thoughts I had today  . flaggies 04-02-2002, 01:05 AM back again......... I have been to the doctors and she has ordered some blood tests, she also thought it would be a good idea that I have an endoscopy. I will have to work out when I can arrange to have that done in between the visitis of our children. She said it may well be that I have picked up some sort of virus that is making me feel the way I am but it is best to exclude any other possible causes. Once these tests are finished than I might like to see about a bone density test as well............ Peggy the chicken sounds very nice. Karen sorry to hear about your dh, hope he will take it a bit easier rather than thinking he can still do the work of a 30 year old:dizzy: Yes you did tell us about your new grand daughter, good for the Mum to be almost back to the weight before she was born. We are having another warm day again, will it ever get cool;) Trudy I so agree with you about Cher and many other 'stars' that have obviously had a 'nip and a tuck'. I saw some of the photos of Liza Minelli's wedding, I would hate to think what the group spent on plastic surgeon fees, even her new husband looks like he has had a bit done! Glenda back on track again??? I didn't do too bad over Easter though could have done better;) See ya tomorrow all Cheers Maria RAR 04-02-2002, 09:01 AM Good morning everyone:) I see that there are many ones that are up before me and already posted Peggy I am going to try that receipe today as I run out of ideas easy so you saved my day Karen hope that the test results come back good for hubby Maria hopeing that your results are good also ! Slavika I am a nurse aide worked at a hospital for 10 years 12 hr shifts was getting to much for this old chick >LOL so going to start a new job tomorrow at a assisted living home with dementia pts hubby says I fit right in so wish me luck I dont care how much experience you have when you are the new kid on the block it is scarey! well going to take a little walk before I go to my part time job yesterday my pug puppy took me so today I think I will take my boxer as she is slowwww like me have a great tuesday Rita survivor 04-02-2002, 10:50 AM Maria - I would be very surprised if you didn't have your downtimes. I know you always put the best face on things, but your lifestyle has to sort of get to you at times, even though I know you make the most of your trips and experiences, but at a certain time in our lives, we just want to be "home". S, glad you are checking yourself out, but I bet a dose of Adelaide is what you really need. Karen - so sorry you all came back home sick. At least it all is treatable. Your husband sounds familiar--men don't always realize they aren't quite the same as when they were 30. I see my kids with their kids and realize real quick that I am not the same as I used to be. Love being grandma, but how in the world did I do everything I used to do? Regarding Peggy's observations of movie stars: I have a question. If you had the money and the time, is there anything you would have "done" to your body or your face, maybe just a little sprucing up? I readily admit I would have my eyes done, get rid of "some" of the wrinkly flesh under them. Anybody else? Glenda LilyG 04-02-2002, 11:37 AM Peggy: Thanks for taking the stress off and starting the new thread! :) That recipe is good. I have made it before. Its yummy. Glenda: I call all dogs puppies. Doesnt matter how old they are. I love them anyways. I like the name Kassie. Its very cute. No, I dont think I would ever have anything done. I wouldnt mind getting rid of some wrinkles, but I just dont think I would ever go and get it done. Never know I could change my mind but I kinda doubt it. Maria: Let us know what the DR says. Your not whinny either. I can image you are homesick. You have been gone so long now it has to effect you. Oh more test. The bone density test is easy. Its good you are getting the endoscopy. It's probably just a virsus and will be taken care off. Karen: Good to see you! Sorry to hear about DH. Tell him to slow down. Keep us posted on his results to. With your free time why dont you relax and enjoy yourself. You could sure use it :) Trudy: Havent seen that movie. I have seen pictures of Cher tho and you are right. She did look much better before. I dont like what she is doing to herself these days. Rita: you will do fine on the new job. It is scary the first day. I always hated starting new jobs as you never know what to expect. Best get going, Im suppose to be in a meeting :) painter5 04-02-2002, 12:13 PM Trudy you are right about all the surgery. You wonder how much of all those stars is real anymore. In my opinion Joan should have her mouth sewn up. I hear Michael J is having some more done. I don't know if I would do anything or not. That Botox that the [I can picture her but can't think of her name for anything-hate it when that happens] 50's one on The View had has made her look younger. Karen it is good to hear from you. Tell your dh to slow down. Hope all the results from the test are good. Let us know. I see you are slowing down too. Hope you are feeling better. That is some nasty stuff that is going around. Maria I know that I would be homesick if I lived your life. It always sounds so glamourous to go some of the places you go. Too bad you can't be like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and click your heels together 3 times to go home. Rita good luck at the new job. It does take a while to fit in. Lily when do you go to Utah? I am going out to play in the yard. I just bought some Stella D'Oro bulbs to plant. It is supposed to rain later. slavika 04-02-2002, 02:03 PM  Hi Everybody I had to go to the dentist twice yesterday and then again this morning. I am "NEARING" the end. Yesterday he screwed extensions on the implants, making the inside of my mouth look like a rod iron fence. I had to be without my partial all day yesterday and today I got it back again. He has "drilled" holes in the inside of the teeth and then that is what sits on top of the extrensions. He wants me to go like this for awhile (because he goes on holidays next week) to see if I get any sore spots. When he gets back he will put the "hardware" into the teeth and then that will snap on the implants. I bet I have told you gals more about implants then you ever wanted to know. :) Maria you certainly are intitled to feel a little down every once in awhile, all of us do. When I was in Maui, which of course is beautiful........much much more beautiful then where I live, I would not want to live there for months on end, because I know I would miss my family, my home and my friends. I think sometime, if my son and family moved away from here I would be ok, because my home and friends would still be here, and that is very important. I don't much like big changes in my life. My DH often talks of us moving into a "newer" house. I would rather go through the hassle of renovating then move. (LOL LOL I can't believe I just said that, as my plumber is here now taking out the "wrong" toilet bowl and then installing the correct one. :D Usually I have "tea time" on Tuesdays but I didn't know for sure if I would have to make a another trip to the dentist this afternoon and also I knew the plumber was coming. Peggy thanks for posting the recipe, I'm always looking for something new to make. :) Glenda that was an interesting question. I think I would like to have my eyes done too, not under the eyes, but lift my eyebrows UP. Can you do "DAT"??? Karen sorry you and DH both got back from vacation, needing another vacation. Let us know how your DH stress test turned out, I'm sure it will be fine. The doctor's would have got him in sooner if they were overly concerned. Rita boy you are sure the lucky gal to have two doggies. I don't have any now and I sure do miss having one. You'll do fine at your new job. In a a couple of days, you will feel like you've been there forever. :) Trudy I caught a peek at Cher during one of the commercials advertising the movie....not good. Carol Burnett spoiled her looks too with all the surgery she had done. I would be scared to have stuff done because even a "good" doctor can have a bad day. YIKES! Talk to you all later. Lizziepie 04-02-2002, 04:16 PM Hi all: Our 'kids' are off for the day visiting relatives up in Ocala, so we have a day of r&r. Good news, my dh doesn't have to wear the elastic stockings any more, unless there should be some swelling. tomorrow he is going for another doppler test to see what has happened with this blood clot. I just believe that it will not be there any more. It certainly has had enough prayers to remove it. I sure agree with you all about the plastic surgery. Every one of those stars look like they have a fake face. Another one is Loretta Swit. I watch the old Mash re-runs and then see her now and it is hard to believe it is the same person. Phyllis Diller was one who had lots of plastic surgery and laughed about it all the time. So somehow, it didn't seem so bad with her. good question about what would we do. My eye doc is suggesting that I have a procedure to remove the excess eyelid. I seem to always be looking through my eyelashes. This all happened after I lost weight. I'm thinking about it, but haven't made up my mind yet. When recommended by the Dr. our Medicare will pay for it. So???? Maria: sorry you are feeling so tired. Hope your good Dr. will come to a solution. And I know that this constant moving, and no roots, has got to be hard. Especially, since you were home for a bit for the wedding. What is that saying--'This too will pass!' I think. Peggy- Thanks for the recipe. Sounds good and we always need one low in points. You are lucky to have a dh who cooks. My dh says to me, 'don't get sick, cause we'd starve":D:D:D: Karen: so sorry you came home from vacation feeling so punk, and sure hope all the tests for your dh go well. Always better to be safe than sorry. You will find a good way to put that new free time to use. Hope it is just resting. Didn't get one glamourous thing at the flea market, but did find more of those thin plastic cutting sheets to put on your counter top. They are so handy, as you can chop, slice or whatever, and then just pick it up, bend it and pour the ingredients into what ever bowl or pan you want. And we bought a full flat of yummy strawberries for just $4.00 We are eating a lot of berries and they are so low in points.:D: Glenda: We went on a dinner cruise, and I wasn't careful either, but it is a new week, and just have to get back with it. I did eat jelly beans. I love them, and only indulge this time of year.:spin: Slavika: Glad your new bathroom is taking shape finally. I hope your plumber was into groveling a little for all the mistakes he made, when he kept saying'don't worry' no problem' That would give you a little satisfaction. :D: Rita: I'm sure the new job will go just fine. Even if you are the 'new kid' you are experienced, and that will be known right off. Will be checking back later. Ann flaggies 04-02-2002, 07:04 PM G'day all, Thank you all for your kind words, I know it will pass and I will 'adjust' once again:dizzy: Peggy the clicking of the heels ala Dorothy would be a great solution:D A bit of a spanner was thrown into the works last night, ds's partner's mother (can you follow all that!) needs a bed for a night in Sydney on the way to New Zealand, of course our dd and new husband are arriving today as well, cut a long story short the mother arrived but 30 minutes ago and is on the way to our apartment. She will walk to where I work and we will have lunch together and then tonight sleep on the couch before leaving for New Zealand first thing in the morning. It is something that I didn't quite need at this time. Rita you make me laugh with your description of what your dh said about fitting right in with your new job :D, good luck, with all your experience I am sure you will be fine. I think if you have been in the one job for some time, you take for granted what you can do and don't see them as all that special, I bet your new employer will think them pretty special. Slavika DH and I both agree if we were to win the lottery we would never shift from Adelaide, Adelaide will always be our home where our friends and family are. Your bathroom does sound like a bit of a nightmare :?: , I hope that it is starting to all come together now. Are you happy with the (almost) final results of the implants? Ann good luck with the tests, hope all is well. I would be having the eyelids done if I were you. My sister-in-law had it done for similar reasons and it was covered by insurance. she was very pleased with the results. It is one thing to have a massive face lift, but quite another to have the excess skin removed from your eyelids that has a two fold purpose, you will be able to see better and as an additional bonus look better :D I think the 'fat lip' fashion is a bit over the top, I really don't like that look if you were not meant to have 'fat' lips!!!! Last year when I was here, I was considering (very briefly ;) ) cosmetic tatooing, it looked very impressive when they did it to show how it would look but it was a lot of money and my kids thought it was ridiculous and dh didn't care one way or the other. I have been interupted a number of times whilst trying to write this post, I will just sent it off to cyber land before I get interupted again.:D Cheers Maria Trudy 04-02-2002, 07:32 PM When I am in aerobic class, right in front of the wall that is all mirror... I think to myself "a little liposuction on those saddlebags would bring you down 1 size"... ... but then I face reality and remember some women have died from the procedure and others have had complications, so then I head for the "thigh abductor" machine and try to work it off. :strong: I am too afraid to have surgery. As I age, I am looking more like my Mom every day that passes. Maria Unexpected events can really throw us. It is nice of you to put the mother up, and I am sure she really appreciates it. I take it she is alone on this trip, so staying with you overnight will be a comfort. About the Endoscopy, are you having problems with your digestion/stomach? Ann I am glad to hear your DH has improved so much. Those blood clots can be such a worry. I had forgotten about Loretta Swit, you are right, she looked much better before. I think the surgery your Dr has suggested would be good to have done, it can't be easy trying to see through your eye lashes. Slavika.. looking good girl. Your bathroom really looks so good, once the tub is reglazed and you get the perfect curtains and towel, it will be fabulous. Peggy.... you made me laugh. You are right, Joan Rivers has too much to say. I read an article where the Drs are using Botox to help Palsy patients. The Botox helps to control the shaking. Also, they are doing some research on using Botox for Migraine Headaches. Well it has been a cold day here... not at all April weather. I keep looking for my tulips to come up, but they know better I guess. I told Slavika she should have staye home in Feb when it was so beautiful out and gone away for March. Bye all  slavika 04-03-2002, 10:15 AM  Hi Everybody I have already been to see my dentist this morning (7:45AM) I think he just sleeps in the office. :D Between him and my plumber I feel like I no longer have a life. Ann the plumber apologized, for the mix up in the toilet bowls (of course he feels it was the fault of store, and I guess it was, since they put my order together for him to pick up and install). He did do a great job in taking out the other toilet and re-installing all the correct stuff and it is now perfect. :) :) Strawberries for $4.00, that is a great deal. Ann do you live in a mobile home in a senior's park? The reason I ask is that my DH and I are talking about where we would like to go after he retires (in a about 2 yrs). Since we have seen some of the parks in Texas (when we visited my Aunt and Uncle) we sort of know what to expect there. I know in some of the parks you can buy/rent a condo or townhouse and that most have swimming pools and rec centers. Since you live in your place all the time perhaps it is not like the parks I am talking about. :?: Tomorrow the fellow comes at 8:00AM to reglaze my bathtub and then I get to do the things that are fun.........the decorating with new towels, curtains etc. I am very pleased with the way the bathroom is coming together. In about an hour I will be going out with my friend for lunch/shopping and will look at some bathroom accessories. :) Talk to you all later. survivor 04-03-2002, 11:00 AM Ladies - I just thought of another instance of "Fake Face". I got a People magazine last night and there was a spread of people at Liza Minnelli's wedding--Elizabeth Taylor, Liza, her husband David, Michael Jackson. I have never seen scarier people in my life! Liza looks great, but the rest are like a circus sideshow. Too much of a good thing, in my opinion. Ann - I have a SIL who had the surgery on her eyes. She just loves it. When I saw her, the swelling had gone down, and I was just amazed at how rested and pretty her eyes were. She had looked so puffy before. So, if insurance pays, why not? Slavika - if we didn't know better, you are spending entirely too much time in the company of "other" men, namely your plumber and dentist. Glad the project is coming together and that you are up to the fun stuff. Maria - I have given some serious thought to the makeup tatooing also. I did hear that it fades with time. But wouldn't it be great to look good (or as good as I get) all the time? So, are you friends with your son's partner's mother? So this visit won't be uncomfortable? Well, she will be gone quickly. Gee, guys, it seems that spring is bashful this year here too. Today is windy and too cool. April is never quite the way we want it, but green things are poking their heads up anyway. Rita - you have done several days with your new job by now and I am sure you feel a lot better. I get into a rut and want to decorate my rut. I never want to make big changes--that is why I laughingly say we have been married forever. My dil just changed jobs. She was a roaming nurse in a big hospital and worked nights. Now she is working for a home health agency as their supervising nurse, but working days and is she excited! They can watch tv now together! When you change professional jobs, it is still scarey, but not as if you have to relearn the job content. Anyway, good luck! Glenda flaggies 04-03-2002, 08:40 PM G'day all, Bit later than usual, it is getting on to lunch time at this end of the world. Son's partner's mother left this morning, she enjoyed her very short stay. It was lovely to have dd and new husband arrive last night. They loved our apartment and were thrilled to be in Sydney. S-i-l walked me to work this morning whilst dd slept in:) They are coming over with the ferry for lunch around 1 pm which should be nice. I am having a colonoscopy on April 22. The reason is that if the blood test do reveal a low blood count, that would be the first thing they would do to rule out any blood loss in that area. I am still feeling very tired eventhough I think it probably is a virus but I might as well get it all checked out. Slavika Pleased to hear your bathroom is starting to take on the look that you had hoped for. Nothing is simple in this life:mad: Glenda I agree with the 'wedding party' of Liza Minelli, not a good look, guess they all think they look OK.:?: Hope you all have a great day Cheers Maria Lizziepie 04-03-2002, 11:31 PM Just a 'quickie" Not much time. Had a neat experience with my kids at church tonight. We got to sing a trio together. it was my turn to do the solo and so I drafted them to sing with me. Loved it. Slavika: We live in a retirement park. Some say manufactured housing, some say double-wides, some say mobile homes. We do have one of the nicest parks around. Well kept and, lots of good folks. Two swimming pools, large community hall, shuffle board courts and minature golf. We are on a lake for boating and fishing. We own the home, and rent the land. There are some parks here where you own everything and pay taxes, etc. We researched both, and found that the costs about evened out between the two methods. We do get to see our families every year, and they each try to come down when they can. Since this is a second marriage for us, our combined family members live in New York, Maryland, Virginia, and Maine. So we travel around and visit them. I know the time will come when we don't want to drive that long trip, but not yet. Will check back tomorrow. Ann painter5 04-04-2002, 11:19 AM I have a quick minute so I thought Iwould pop in and see what is happening. I am hungry and you all are keeping me out of the kitchen. I went for a long walk this morning and then tried to do a Kathy Smith tape. I keep getting tangled up in my feet. Ann so you sing to. I always wished I could just carry a tune. In church I just move my lips if there are people near me. I am never on key and can't go high. I have friends who want to retire to Florida. They have friends in a park - I wonder if it is the same one you are in. Maria how nice to see your dd. Glad the mother visit went o.k. Sorry you have to have a colonoscopy. I didn't mind it but the night before - yuck! I lost 6 lbs overnight. It is a shame that they came back. Slavika have you gone towel and accesory shopping yet? If so, what colors did you get? Glenda, you know I was wondering about Liza's husband. I just him on the tube and thought he looked wierd. I thought it was just me. I thought all of them were too scary. We are going to a rehearsal dinner tonight at a local winery. Doug has a reading in the wedding. It should be fun. You grill your own food. Have a good day all. Trudy 04-04-2002, 04:59 PM I got curious about Liza's wedding and looked on the web for pictures. I was surprised to see Michael Jackson, he used to be quite good looking when he was younger, now he looks weird. Did someone say he is going for more surgery? I think Liza's husband has had considerable work done too. Peggy I don't sing out in Church either, I can't carry a tune. Sometimes in the shower I sound good, but that is it. Ann the retirement park you live in sounds like quite a social place. Did you have a hard time adjusting to living in a "double wide"? My DH wants to move, I would just like to renovate and stay put. How many children do you and your DH have? Do you ever get together over the holidays? Maria I have had many colonoscopies over the years. With my first 2 I didn't have any sedatives, and that was horrible, but now they put you out and you don't feel a thing. Like Peggy said, the night before is the worst part. Glenda I had to laugh at your pointing out all the other men in Slavika's life lately. Lily are you working hard again...?? Have you heard from Margot? I sure miss her posts. Well SLavika another day with your dentist and the tub man :D How is everything going? Actually, I saw my dentist today too. Nothing big, just a filling that had broken away... all fixed. Sure cost a lot $$$ Bye for now... flaggies 04-04-2002, 06:55 PM G'day all, It is a beautiful friday morning and I have decided to take myself in hand and try and snap out of this feeling tired, homesick etc.:D :dizzy: :s: I am pleased I am having the tests done and even to a colonoscopy there is an up side, loosing 6lbs overnight like Peggy did:D Ann I don't think we have what you call 'retirement parks', it does sound very social indeed. My late mother lived in a 'retirement village', it was basically a lot of small 2 bedroom homes, a community hall and the gardens were maintained. If the time comes that you are unable to care for yourself, you then moved on what is called 'hostel accomodation' where all your meals are provided and nursing staff keeps a closer eye on things, from there to a nursing home and from there, well I don't think I need to spell it out! The retirement villages have a bit of a bad name as it was very expensive and once the occupants passed on, the owners of the retirement village benefited greatly. It was all in small letters in the contract that no-one took notice of or understood. For those reasons we would like to stay 'put' for as long as we can. The house we bought near the beach when we started this lifestyle, is really our retirement home. It is considerably smaller than our family home was and it also has a lot less garden. We love it though we haven't lived there for any length of time yet. Haven't 'seen' Lily for a bit, hope you are well and not working too hard. I recently read somewhere of the benefits of drinking licorice tea. I drink far too much coffee and try and limit that, I am not really a tea drinker but thought I would give the licorice tea a go. It is very nice, the first cup :?: but after a few cups it really is nice. I actually have to do some work this morning, try and check in later...... Cheers Maria Lizziepie 04-05-2002, 11:43 AM Hi all: Kids are off for a day at Disney, so we are alone. Maria: Licorice tea? I don't like licorice candy, so can't imagine I would like that, but if it was really helpful, I'd just have to consider it a medication for my own good.:D: We have the same sort of places here for elderly, referred to as independant living, assisted living, and nursing home care. In some instances a person can sign away their retirement pensions and get care for the duration. Other places have monthly charges, like rent. Like everything else, some are very good and some are horrible. One has to investigate very carefully before having a loved one go to such a facility. Where we live 80% of the residents have to be over 55. Everyone is independent. But we do have a lot of social activities together. and of course there are different circles of friends. We have 380 residences. Many are winter residents only and they are heading back north now. But there are also many of us who have made this our permanent home. I like the weather. Trudy: The hardest part for me is not having a lot of storage. But by this time of life, we are supposed to be 'downsizing' and making life less complicated. :D: At least that is what I read. Otherwise, we've been very happy, there isn't such a large area to take care of, and that is good, since I have never liked housework. especially dusting. My dh does the vacuuming for me. I figure that since he is retired too, he can do his share.:D: Between us we have 6 children. I have two girls, DH has 1 girl, 3 boys. And a total of 14 grandchildren, and 1 Ggranchild, with two more on the way. Since our kids are rather spread out, N.Y. Virginia, Maryland and Maine, we don't get together as often as we'd like. We do get to see them all in the summer, and they all come to see us when they get tired of winter. Even when we lived in N.Y. State, because there was such distances, we didn't always get together on holidays. I think the last time we were all together, both families, was when Phils granddaughter got married. We've been very blessed that all of our kids get along well, and they also get along well with their respective step-parents. Slavika: Hope by now you are finished with all the strange extra men in your life. Since our kids are here, I haven't been paying much attention to points, even tho' my daughter is a WW too. Haven't been on the scale in a week. I hope I won't be too horrified. Peggy: Hope you enjoyed your rehearsal dinner. Lily: Hope you are not working too hard! Karen: Are you enjoying your extra time off? For some reason, I am not getting the notifications of new posts. That seems to happen from time to time, but don't know why. So I just keep checking back. Have a great day everyone. Ann slavika 04-05-2002, 04:55 PM  Hi Everybody Well the tub reglazer guy came yesterday at 8:00AM and was finished doing my tub by 10:45AM. Gals, he did a fantastic job. :) I phoned the company he works for and told them that he had done a great job and didn't leave any mess behind him. He had to "mask" off almost the entire bathroom before doing the job so as not to get any of the spray where it shouldn't go. He puts on a white plastic suit type thing that completely covers him (it even has a hood) and off course wears a face mask. The tub looks like I just installed a brand new white one. I guess you can tell I am pleased. :D The cost, including tax was $280.00. I thought that was pretty good. :) I, of course, had to see the dentist again yesterday (he has now gone on a weeks holiday) so I get a break. :) I can hardly wait for the whole thing to be over and done with. Glenda these "new" men in my life that I have been spending time with....LOL, I don't think so. :) The white shower curtain that I bought and thought I would use is "too" white. the fixtures are all a "china white" and the curtain was like "paper white".....just not good together. :( Ann yes, your park sounds much like the one we visited when we went to Texas. I think those parks are just great. There's always lots going on, and everybody is so friendly. I really loved being there. Thanks for sharing the information, about your place. :) Now I wonder how Karen's hubby made out on his stress test. I didn't see a post from Lily or Rita . How's the new job working out Rita. Well I better go and get something going for dinner. :) Trudy 04-05-2002, 07:13 PM Go to the new thread.... :D vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
