I am into my third week of Atkins, and have lst 12 lbs. I have decide to continue with induction, but my weight loss has slowed some. How much should my fat intake be, in relationship to protein and carb? Thanks for all the inspiration I have received while lurking on these boards.

:wel3fc: & to Atkins!

Most people are under the assumption Atkins is a high protein diet...in reality, Atkins is a moderate protein, high fat diet. This is particularly true of Induction. During OWL (On Going Weight Loss) & pre-maintenance, your fat consumption is reduced. Honestly, I have never followed a set number or a certain percentage of fat, protein & carbs. I concentrated on what Dr. Atkins wrote in the book...20 carbs per day, 12-15 of which should be coming from veggies & salad on the acceptable foods list. As for fats, butter, mayo, olive oil were all part of my everyday eating & still are. Where protein is concerned, I basically eat eggs with sausage or occasional bacon for breakfast, salad with either grilled chicken, steak or tuna salad for lunch and for dinner, some type of meat with more veggies & salad.

All the best to you. sounds like you're on the right track! :congrat: on your weightloss!

I found in induction I was eating approximately 70% fats, 20% protein and 10% carbs most days.

It's sometimes hard to keep your fats up there but you really must if you want to have the energy to get through your days without feeling hungry. Remember your burning fats for everything now..........it's very different from when you had that high carb diet and you burned carbs for energy. (Now you burn your fats and they don't collect in your arteries anymore!)
