Weight Loss Surgery - One other big questionView Full Version : One other big question philandja 08-11-2008, 03:43 PM In doing all the steps for the GB I have learned that over the years I have lost 1/2" in height. When I become the skinnier me do you think I will get my 1/2" back?:dizzy: Leenie 08-11-2008, 05:25 PM Thats a good question, do thinner people look taller LOLOL I guess if your wearing heels yes LOL Your cute ;) yoyonomoreinvegas 08-11-2008, 05:59 PM I don't want to get your hopes up but once my weight started dropping, I actually did get back 1/4" in height - don't know if my spine was actually compressed from being "weighted down" or if I was just slouching so badly I only thought I was standing up straight to be measured - but, turns out I'm not shrinking like I thought I was :D missangelaks 08-11-2008, 10:43 PM Hey! didn't think of that! I am going to measure my height again...I felt taller but I thought it was a psychological effect. :D I lost a shoe size though! Angela missangelaks 08-12-2008, 01:17 PM I grew a 1/2 inch! I was down to 5'9" and am now back to 5'9.5"! I am almost back to my youth height of 5'9.75". I thought it was because I was getting old! Maybe not. I think that by losing weight, if this regrowth shows it does effect the spine, I might have avoided the back problems my mother had. Unexpected Bonus! Angela mistymed 08-12-2008, 02:48 PM i bet all the vitamins that we take help with bone growth also. KO 08-12-2008, 03:24 PM Less stress on your muscles mean they contract less. . .now where did I put that inch? magi 08-12-2008, 07:40 PM Well...I dunno. I always thought I was 5'4" but doctor says I'm 5'3". Everybody keeps telling me I look shorter now. But then I'm older than dirt LOL. I think most of you are younger than me. I know I don't hold my shoulders up like I used to in my youth. Who cares?!?!? I can at least climb up on a step stool now to reach stuff LOL nanj 08-13-2008, 09:57 AM When I went for my WLS, I told them I was 5'8 & 3/4" inches. They took my height and I was only 5'7". WTHeck! I'm 57 y/o and have a lot of spine problems from overweight and degenerative changes. I'd like very much to get my height back, but don't think I will. I'm like Magi, I walk around stoop shoulder and my posture is awful. I finally lost weight in my feet, instead of a 11 average width, I'm now a 11 narrow!! I wanted to go down a shoe size!!! Oh, well, at least I can walk and that is better than what my life use to be like. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
