I am going to start Atkins today! I have already walked my morning mile and my chicken is cooking. I am eating cucumbers while I wait for my chicken. I do have a question though, I am starting with phase one. I have a couple of questions.
Well, I am a very picky eater and there aren't a lot of vegetables I like in phase one. It says you can have 3 cups of the following. Well, could I eat 6 cups of one vegetable to meet the net carb requirement instead? Other wise, I will be under the net carbs every day. How long does it take to reach ketosis?

As for your questions about vegetables, personally, I feel following the plan exactly the way it was written is essential to success. You say there are a few veggies you like, try to concentrate on those for now. Its important you be getting plenty of veggies & salad (12-15 carbs a day from these). People tend to not do the plan the way Dr. Atkins designed it, they quickly get bored with it & they give up saying "oh yeah, I tried Atkins, that didn't work for me". I'll be honest, before I started Atkins, I didn't eat a veggie to save my life! But, there are SO many you can have on this plan and there are so many recipes you can fix to make them tasty with ingredients like butter & cheese...it makes it easy to start eating the veggies you never thought you would!:)

Thanks! Well, after one day I am already in ketosis. But according to the ketostix it's moderate to large. Is it dangerous to be in this range of ketosis? And does anyone know what may have caused that reading?
I was 2 lbs lighter this morning so something seems to be working.
