Finally got time to pop in here.

PJ, I just have to say you look marvelous, and the arms are fine.

Michelle, you better not leave the nest, we all just kind of seem to slow down a bit and disappear around holiday.

I am going to my sister's on easter sunday for a hunt and dinner, I will do the best on program that I can but it will be hard. The girls are excited. I do up their baskets and send them on a treasure hunt to find them. I make up notes and they have to follow the clues til they find their easter treasure. Anyone else have any interesting things they do? I would love to hear any ideas.

Well I am at work and have to be quick but wanted to stop by.

Hello to everyone

Hi gals,

Well, same-old-same-old here. Not much new going on. Of course, as I thought, I gained back the 3 lbs I loss from having the stomach bug. Actually, I am down 1/2 lb. Oh well, the roller coaster continues.

Brenda - I have also done the "clue" thing at Easter for quite a few years now. My kids are now 14 and 10 (almost 11) and I thought for sure last year would be my last "Easter Bunny". Well, was I wrong. One night this week they both cornered me and whined about wanting the clues this year. Now, the older they get the harder I have to make them. So, I have relented and made clues this year. They are not getting alot, esp. candy, but I made up some clues and bought some non-candy stuff.

Setina - where are you????? Come out, come out and chat with us!! ;)

Well, we are watching the girls Final Four. I don't know what we're going to watch after Sunday. Except for racing!! My daughter loves basketball. I am also trying to control her eating. She weighs almost as much as I do, but she's only 14 1/2. I really do not buy junk food, and she has been playing sports (soccer and basketball) monthly since last summer. She just has my metabolism I guess. Of course, on the other side, my son is stick thin and can eat and eat. Any one else out there dealing with/or dealth with an overweight child? Her weight probably bugs me more than it does her. :^: Will talk more about this later. Have to go finish the wash now.

Hope you all have a nice Easter. We will actually be attending a basketball tournament this weekend. My daughter plays AAU and can you believe someone is having a tournament on Easter weekend!! We have two games on Sunday. Well, the good news is that it will keep us away from the sweets.

Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My anxiety if back right now just came this week and I can't figure out what causes it..I am not worried about anything at the moment!LOL I just wake up with a headache and a tightness in my neck and jaw(I think that is what cuases the headache)..Kinda like to much caffine..but I don't do caffeine or too much sugar..cause I know these things wil trigger it. Got any ideas??????? The only thing that helps is to keep physically busy..cooking, cleaning or gardening and just keeps my mind off it, when I am done with these things and sit down to rest it is still there! I hate this feeling...makes me jumpy and irritable too! happens every spring..wonder if it is an allergy of some kind?????????? I heard that some docs are using botox injected into the neck muslces for this type of headache....did you hear about this too? I have learned that food does not actually help the anxiety...I used to think I was shakey cause I needed something to eat ...so I ate! Keeping my jaw moving does help though..so I need to find low cal things to occupy my mouth!

Good Morning and Happy Easter to all of you.

Today will be relaxing, I planned it that way. Seeing that this weeks meeting is about balance I thought I better give it a try myself;)

About that botox shot, not sure if I would go ahead with that one. I have heard the pros and cons when I watch a tv program on it a while back. I wish I could give some ideas as to how to help but all I can think of is deep breathing exercises. I'm sure this is no help at all, but maybe someone will come up with an answer.

Not much happening here. Have a nice day everyone.

Hi, everyone! Some of you may remember me from a LONG time ago. I used to post here a lot, but I had a lot of problems with my health and have been MIA for a long time. I am finally back and will be joining WW again this week. I am happy to be back. :-)

HI Meshell...I remember ya! So how are you doing???????????

Thanks for caring Julie.........I'm not keen on the shot either but get desperate when these headaces won't stop! Deep breathing tenses my neck up and so do upper body exercises....I haven't
found anything that works yet not even muscle relaxers..makes it worse......... I want too shove food in my mouth thinking it will make me feel better, less anxious....but I know it won't!

Hello and happy Monday!!!!!

Meshell, I think I may remember you or do I just think that I do? Anyhooo welcome to the group.

Candice, I hear ya, I guess I would do anything that would help me too. Just remember that I'm thinking of you and care. One thing to remember too, don't feel the emotion only feed the need to survive.

Hope you all had a good Easter. Ours was quiet and that was just fine.

I'm off to work at the flower shop and then back home to get ready for my WW meeting.

The meeting this week is on balance in our lives, but at my meetings, the members will be bringing in recipes they want to be converted to points, so we will be doing that as a group.

Have a happy one.

Hi, Candice and Julie! I remember the two of you. I am doing much better than I was before. You may remember that I developed fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome after having a kidney removed. It has taken over 3 years to finally get on a medication regimen that allows me to have any quality of life at all. For a while, I was in a wheelchair much of the time and had to give up driving. I am pleased to say that I am walking AND driving again. I turned 30 last July and recently started spending a LOT of money getting some dental work done. That made me start thinking about taking care of myself in other ways as well. I had my hair cut, ordered a popular skin care line for myself, bought an exercise bike, and decided to re-join WW.

I am still homeschooling my 2 children who will be 13 and 10 this year. It is so nice to be back!

Wow Meshell, you sure have been through a lot. Do you remember that I have lupus? I have been fortunate that I'm still in remission.

It is good to hear that you are back doing things and really enjoying quality of life. How did you home school your kids when you were not well? You are an inspiriation.

Hope everyone is doing well:)

Julie,

Fortunately, my children are very self-motivated and do most of their school work on their own. When I am in a really bad flare, my husband helps with the lessons. We have also bought several educational cd's for the computer that come in handy during those times. There are also times when the children curl up with me on the bed or couch and we do their schoolwork that way. My daughter has the same condition as well as having suffered a brain injury at the age of 2. She is very high-functioning, but we had to start learning compensation techniques a long time ago. It is amazing at how creative a person can be when they just have no choice. I am really looking forward to being back on WW. I am going grocery shopping tomorrow and want to plan my meals for the next week first, so I am frantically searching for recipes so I can make out my grocery list and go through my coupons tonight. :-) I had a root canal today, so I am waiting until Thursday to go to my first WW meeting.

Julie..I didn't know you had Lupus! Hope you stay in remission:)

Meshell..soudns like you got stuff under control! A root canal..that does not sound good! I hate dental work of nay kind even a cleaning! Sounds like you are taking charge and doing some self pampering:) Planning is one of the keys to success!

I was able to do some upper body exercvises today..wonder if I will pay tomorrow..with my bad arm and neck I have not been able to do these..so I acomplished something good today! My left leg and foot are giving me fits..waking me with pain..kinda strange. Maybe it will just go away on its own:smug:

Julie,

When were you diagnosed with lupus???? Are you having to take the steroids that cause weight gain? Being sick AND having to take a lot of meds sure do add a major challenge to weight-loss. But, we must learn to take care of ourselves the best we can. What better can we do for ourselves than to strive to be as healthy as we possibly can be? And most importantly, we must learn to really LIVE and not just EXIST. That idea has caused a major turning point in my life.

Where are the other owls I know? Brenda, P.J., Tara, Setina, etc.......

Julie,

I would love to chat with you about Lupus. Back in March/April of 2001 I had a positivie ANA. NO definate diagnosis as of yet but the doctors are watching my symptoms. So far they have said fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I think all of them are so closely related that they can't determine sometimes.

Candicej

Teresa..I had a postive ANA back in 1988 and they said to watch for Lupis but nothing to this day but that darn Fibro!

Meshell..meds are the pits when it ocmes to weight gain..I cut way back and don'tknow what would happen if I had to increase the dose again I am maintaining now and it is hard! PJ is busy moving and I don't know where the other owls are:( (Bren ,Tara and Setina are around somewhere!)

Hi and Happy Thurs. to all of you:)

Well about my lupus, I was diagnosed when I was about 30 years old and I'm now 44. I had one bad month, with awful pain and was on medication and then all of a sudden, out of no where, I went into remission.

I'm on no medications at all and haven't been since I was 30 and boy do I thank God everyday for that. Going throug early menopause could cause this to come back from my understanding.

Teresa, if you would like to contact me, feel free to e-mail me at jparkansky@yahoo.com

Meshell, you are remarkable, I admire your attitude. Having a postitive attitude with anything in our life can really make a big difference on how we react to situations.

Today my friends, I'm home ALONE! I'm not running into Marinette to help out at WW because my afternoon meeting is closed because of spring break, I have decided that I wasn't going to run all the way in just to help weigh for two meetings.

I'm actually going to start my spring cleaning today;) I love cleaning and used to clean homes years ago before I got into WW fulltime.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi Ladies!

I have been around - but mostly just lurking. :D

I hope you all had a nice Easter. Mine was good - I did pretty good with the chocolate (you know....my biggest downfall!) until Monday. Then it got me! I am back on track though and today is going fine. I need a good OP week under my belt. I have been playing with program for the past month or so - its time to get serious again!

Meshell - Hey girl welcome back!! I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. Its about time! Good luck with WW and if you have questions, just ask. And you can email me anytime :)

Candice - Sorry about your anxiety. Do the meds not work? My anxiety is MUCH better now that my thyroid is level. Having a bad thyroid can really throw that off - and it did! Thank god I figured that one out. (I still have it - but its MUCH better)

Welcome Teresa! - I am an owl from WAY back and pop in from time to time. You will like it here - everyone is very kind!

Julie - I had forgotten you had lupus! I am glad to hear its in remission and hopefully it will stay there!! :) I like to clean too - have fun today.

Ok so where is Setina, Emmy, Bren, PJ, Michelle and Judy????? Come out ladies and say Hi!

I must go and re-fill the old water bottle. I am a water drinking fool today ladies. I was slacking on my water last week - that is NOT LIKE ME! So I need to drink extra!

Have a great OP day!

Tara :smug:

P.S. what happened to gif files? We can't post them anymore?? Wahhhhhh!

Hi, Tara!!! I am so glad to see you here. Are you still doing your newsletter? If so, could you please add me to it? mdeyoung71@wmconnect.com .

I re-joined WW today. I am so excited!!!! The only problem I believe I will have is the same problem I've always had....drinking my water! Since I only have one kidney, I am supposed to drink a gallon a day, and I don't usually drink any at all! So, I really need encouragement in that area.

Well, I need to finish a couple of chores, then I am going to get a little rest...I have been running errands all week.

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick hello. Hope you had a nice Easter. I am going through **** right now. As most of you know we are trying to get a house, well right before I go to the mortgage company (tomorrow) we find out some idiot has gotton my hubbys SS number and opened cell phone accounts...3 so far. We did the police report, fraud alert to all the credit bureaus etc but now for the damage control and fighting to get it off our credit.

I HIGHLY recommend you get a copy of your credit report at least twice a year and check it over. I hope to be back soon but this is taking all me time now.
Hugs to all

Howdy do and a good morning to all!

Well, yesterday was successful with the spring cleaning. I got most of the main bathroom done and will finish it today. Then I will tackle the half-bath.

Meshell - Ok her is your reminder that you need to drink the water. It is wonderful that you are back at WW, but remember the first reason you need the water;) Also, if you have any program questions along the way, please feel free to ask, and if I can help I will, if I don't have the answer, I will find out.

Yup Tara, I have lupus but like I said, being in remission is a God send.

Setina - that is awful news about someone stealing your husbands ss number and using it. We hear about that all the time. The worst part, is that we are the one's who suffer from it. I really hope that you can get this cleared up as soon as possible.

Have a happy day!

It's been a bad few days...............pain and fatigue and now a weather change so that might have been the problem! When I am in terrible pain I have strange dreams that reflect the pain. My dream this time was: I was chasing my cats and they went up on an old building with scafolding and I climbed up to get them and it broke loose leaving me hanging on twisted in all directions (hence the pain) my body felt like it had been twisted form head to toe. ( I think cleaning my sons closet had something to do with it!) just be glad when it is warm again:) and I will be outside messing around!

I spring clean all year along cause I can't do it all at one time anymore!:dizzy:

Oh Candice, I just read your post, that is awful. I know that when I dream, it seems so real, but you actually continue on with the pain.

Not sure why it is when you are in pain, you have those dreams.

I think what you do about cleaning is something I should really try. I love a clean house, and time isn't always on my side to do a good job on a daily basis but I should really re-organize myself.

Well, better go, I'm on rescue squad call today and I want to get dressed and ready just in case my pager goes off. I would look really silly showing up in my jammies:lol:

Have a great day. If I'm not gone on squad call, I will be watching the NASCAR race:)

Well, finally got the chance to check in again. Busy, Busy, Busy!! Friday Brianna had a b-day party to go to, then friday night I went out with Steve. Saturday I had to be in Connecticut for Coach's training at 8:30. This morning Brianna has another b-day party to go to then it is the father/daughter dance today at 5pm, I will play the proud father, LOL!! It should be great because the prom was last night and they left all the decorations up for the kids dance today. Tomorrow night is our softball team's first practice so hopefully that will go well.

I got a new digital camera and will try to post some pictures of the dance. I go to NYC on April 20th so I wanted to get it for that, should be fun.

Meshell, Oh my gosh girl what a thrill to see you here, it has been sooooooooooooooo long and I have missed you. So good to have you back and it seems like you have gotten things pretty well under control.

Brenda, it is so good to see you post. I have really missed you. You owls were always like my family and I am so glad to be back! :-)

My 9-year-old son has to have surgery on the 16th to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. His pre-op appointment is on Tuesday. I am so nervous! I am definitely an emotional eater, so I need to really watch myself, especially since I just started WW again. I did plan well enough to be able to have a hot fudge sundae yesterday without going over my points. I'll have to have plenty of low-point snacks around while my son is eating all that ice cream. ;-)

Hello and Happy Monday to everyone!

What a weekend, woke up to snow, the day got a little warmer, snow melted and the worst part of all...........the NASCAR race was cancelled because of rain. I did get some cleaning done so I guess it wasn't such a waste of the day.

Bren, you really did have a busy weekend, hopefully you are all rested and ready for the week.

Meshell, I know just where you are coming from when it comes to emotional eating. When your son has his surgery make sure you plan some good treats for yourself. Those skinny cows are a wonderful ice cream sandwich and only 2 points per sandwich.

This weeks WW meeting is about keeping satisfied. What type of foods have you all found since joining WW or just trying to lose weight that fit well into the program and really do taste good?

We are off to the dentist today, oh yippy skippy. Meghan is mad because the first thing we will be doing is seeing the oral surgeon so that we can have her wisdom teeth taken out. She doesn't like the dentist in the first place so this will be fun:p and all it is is the appointment, no surgery yet!

Have a great day.

Wow!!!!!!!! Talk about computer withdrawal!!!!!!!!! Right now I'm at the library just to try and catch up a little bit.
The cable company wont hook up our computer until Wed. between 8-10am. So....this is it for now and I just wanted to let you all know that MOVING SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!!!! I cannot believe how much sh**/Doo-doo we've accumulated in six years living in that house. Having a VERY large garage sale this coming Saturday. I absolutely LOVE the house and the barn and horses being all around me. As soon as I'm back online at home..I'm post the pictures on my picturetrail.com page.

Sorry but I don't have time to read through all of the posts. I'll print them out...read them and catch up on the "news" when I'm hooked back up at home. Anyway, had a wonderful Easter with my parents. Bill is still having a very hard time with the death of his father. Every once in a while.....he start to tear up. I feel so bad and helpless at times because I have not lost one of my parents yet and I cannot even begin to comprehend what it's like.

On a lighter note, the kids are doing great and so I'm starting to DE-STRESS......FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!
I miss you all and I miss posting on here nightly......or with my coffee in the morning.
I'll "see" you all Wed.

Hugs to you all,

P.S. - my phone number is still the same and when I'm "hooked up".......I'm email you all my new address.

Glad it's over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

PJ....we have been in the same house 20 years and we have so much junk but I can't bear to throw stuff out! I was trying to go through my sons old room)he has been out of the house now for 4 years will graduate college this year!) and I started to cry looking at all the stuff that brought back childhood memories. How do you part with all that stuff!!!!!!!!!

I didn't go to my WW meeting today....I am going to switch to Saturday meetings. My dh has agreed to go to some of the meetings with me. I am trying to talk him into joining....he wants to lose close to 100 pounds, but he hates the mere mention of the word diet. Hopefully attending the meetings with me will convince him to join. He won't be able to accompany me to any of the meetings until next month. He has to work this coming Saturday. For a couple of weeks after that, he will be sitting at home with our son while he recuperates from his surgery (which is Tuesday). We went grocery shopping today for ice cream, popsicles, jello, pudding, applesauce, etc. for after the surgery. I was sure to buy the ingredients to make some low-point snacks for me to help with the temptation to eat the stuff I got for him.

Meshell - I think its great that your DH wants to join WW with you! My advice is this: Don't think of this as a diet! Because in reality WW is really just a lifestyle. A healthy one! When you say diet that is like something you go on and off. But with WW its a healthy lifestyle you should follow for life. Just my 2 cents!! And good luck to your son with his surgery.

Gotta run girls...I just wanted to say all that to Meshell!! :)

Meshell,

Which meeting are you going to on Saturday?? I will be going to the one at 10AM. I can't go on Friday beings hubby is on 1st shift this week. I have sorta cheated and weighed myself and it showed a half pound loss....I joined the gym too.. :) I am taking it easy to make sure I do not get too sore... I think that is building muscle which weighs more than fat. But any loss is good!! :)

I have been doing pretty good staying OP. Hubby wanted Old Hickory Stick tonight but I chose to get something from the chinese place...chicken and broccoli..and hot n sour soup...both 2 points per serving. I still love this eating change...it is not even like a diet..since you can have all the foods you really want ..just watch portions and count those points. I just keep picturing myself once I lose this weight and how much better I will feel without all the pain and tiredness!

Tara,

You are still my biggest encourager when it comes to me and that water. Thank you so much! I have been drinking *some* water, which is better than none, but not nearly enough. According to my scale at home, I will show a gain at my meeting this morning. :-( Maybe that will be enough to get me to drink more water...lol. My daughter is going to my meeting with me and then we are going out to lunch.

Judy, yes it does count as water...you can use decaf tea, coffee, clear juice as half of your daily water! Where did you find the strawberry?

I have bought some kiwi strawberry tea...decaf. I do have to sweeten with some honey though...haven't gotten to the point where I can drink it without sweetening. I can't drink iced tea anymore since hubby likes it loaded with sugar. It is way too sweet for me.

Meshell,
Drink a cup of water..NOW>>>LOL...put down that diet DP for an hour today. :) You need a timer and maybe every 3 or 4 hours drink a cup of water...with a straw...(goes down faster). LOL...helping you where I can!! LOL.

Michelle, thanks for telling me I can use it for half my water. Only half, huh? Have you tried that new Minute Maid lemondade.. zero points?

Candice, that pie crust sounds easy. I think I'll try it soon.

Meshell, it must be easier to have hubby do the program with you. Good luck with the surgery Tuesday.

Hi everyone,
What a beautiful weekend this is turning out to be. The weather sure in wonderful!

My husband has our son's race car just about done. Now it is mostly cosmetic stuff that has to be done.

About things that count for water, anything you can find that is 5 calories or less per serving can be considered a water. Drinking regular water is really the best.

About Meghan's oral surgery, we are going to cancel it for that day, it is the last day of school and also Matthew will be racing and she hates to miss a race. This time, I'm going to be smart.....I'm scheduling her so that daddy has to take her;)

Have a great day everyone.

Oh that pecan pie sounds so gooood. Just not sure I would spend the points on it. That is one of my red light foods and I know (for certain) that I would eat the whole thing, can you imagine the points for that:o

It is Monday, the start to a new week. Hope you are all doing well and have your meals pre-planned.

Have a good one.

Teresa,

Thanks! :-) I am starting to drink more water. For several different reasons, I decided not to attend the meetings. I wanted to go long enough to get the new materials and see how the program had changed since I was on it before. I will depend a lot on you guys for support. :-)

Tomorrow is my son's surgery. We have to be there at 8:45am. I will check back in again when I can.

I looked forward to being at some of our meetings together :(

That is ok I will keep you posted of any new recipes or the info they put out OK :)

Glad you are doing better with your water.
I will be praying for Bryan through his surgery and afterward.

I have done OK today but Saturday and Sunday were rough!! Birthday parties on Saturday but only went over on points by 2. Yesterday I had pizza and still was OK with my points but I did not want to break down and eat that sort of food now. I am trying my best to cut out all the "junk".

Hi and happy hump day!

Meshell, I will certainly be thinking of you and your son, hope all goes well with the surgery.

Has anyone gone to their WW meeting this week? I think that this self-esteem topic is just wonderful. The members seems to really want more meetings like this one. It can get very deep at times but we all need that sometimes.

Hope you all have a on points day, remember, this is life, we just want to learn how to celebrate and still learn to lose/maintain our life. There will always be a celebration going on and we just need to learn to get a handle on it.

Have a great day.

My son's surgery went well yesterday. He had some trouble with nausea and vomiting, but after the doctor called in some medicine, he has done much better. He is eating well. I am managing to stay OP and drink my water.

I'll check in when I can....my son is having a hard time being still. I guess not even surgery can slow down a hyperactive child too much. ;-) I am so thrilled he is doing well- I was so worried!

Meshell,

Thanks for letting us know how you son did. Geez, I guess you have to be a kid to bounce back so fast.

Hope everyone has a great day. Today will be a shocking, scary but interesting one for me. Today is the day my son will be involved in a mock drill, he will play the drunk teenager who kills two kids and injures many others in a car accident. It will be played out as real with the kids being kept out of school. Tomorrow the fake funeral.

Julie
ps Matthew even called my mom to see if she could pick him up from the jail and bring him to the hotel where everyone involved will stay until the funeral tomorrow..............gosh this is hard. I will see him actually get handcuffed this afternoon and taken away in a squad car.
