Good morning Chickies!

It's drizzling lightly outside and I just heard the low rumble of thunder. It's just as well, since we'll be busy with some remodeling in the kitchen all day. It'll be a long, slow process as we're doing it as we can afford it, but I don't mind. The end result will be well worth it. :) First, though, we're off for breakfast with the gang at Cracker Barrel and a bit of grocery shopping.

How's everyone's weekend shaping up?

Good Morning Cottage!

Hope you have fun with remodeling.

Nothing new here today. I'm cleaning and grocery shopping this morning, then working on my book.

Have a great day, all!

Good morning Linda and Belle! Have fun remodeling Linda!

It's raining here too and my internet and phone lines are in and out again! I'm gonna complain!!!!! A few rain drops should not interfere with phone / dsl services, not for the price I pay!

Still sore from all the hiking/climbing! I was hoping to put a menu together and go shopping, but um... we'll see.

I'm back up there girls... 186, and I ate hardly nothing yesterday! WHY is it soooo easy to put 6 pounds on in just four days and ssooo hard to get it back off?????? :(. The climb in weight was with a LOT of exercise all week!

I'm getting discouraged with adding the carbs back, everytime I do i gain weight!!!

Wow, did I make it in with only two posts today??!?

Cottage - Mmmmm...cracker barrel. BD (before diet) days, Country Fried Steak was the BEST!!! Actually, it doesn't even sound good right now...

Belle - I'll join you in the ranks of grocery shoppers today. Fun, fun, fun. NOT!

For me - actually, it's a great morning. There's a thunderstorm, and it just now started raining. It's quite calming.

My plan is to grocery shop, go to the farmer's market, and look at some furniture for my daughter. She needs a big girl bed!! We're also having a barbeque with the neighbors for dinner.....steaks, potato pockets (I LOVE sweet potato pockets!!), green bean salad, and watermelon for dessert. YUM!!

Have a relaxing weekend all!!

Good morning :coffee2:

Cottage - Have fun redesigning your kitchen! How exciting to have something set-up for you.

Belle - Have a good day :)

LoriAnn- I blame the humidity, I'm up today too. Maybe the scale gets bloated when it's humid?!

Twynn - Getting a big girl bed is a big deal :)

Sounds like everyone has about the same plan for the day - shopping and house stuff. I've got to get out and walk before your rain gets here, then it's chores and dehydrating all day. I made a yummy zucchini pancake this morning. Will post the very simple recipe above. I think it would be good with any quick cooking veggie.

we had a great time yesterday! I didn't get many pictures but Julie did. She has more bird than whale pics but much better than anything I got: http://juliesmagiclightshow.com/

Have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone! Looks like this is going to be a nice, relaxing weekend. DH and I really need one!

Cottage: I'm so excited for you and your kitchen remodel! I hope you'll post some befores and afters when your done. Enjoy your drizzly Saturday.

Belle Mer: Hope you have a productive book day!

Loriann: Could it be that you're building a good amount of muscle? I doubt it would be 6 lbs of muscle in a few days, but 3 lbs of muscle and 3 lbs of water weight wouldn't be such a bad thing, would it? I hope it comes of quickly!

TwynnB: What are sweet potato pockets? Sounds like something DH and I would enjoy. Soothing rain on a Saturday is so nice, but can be a bad thing. It makes DH and I lazy! Enjoy shopping for a big girl bed!

Cyndi: Sounds like your whale watching adventure was a success. I'll have to head over to Julie's pictures when I'm done posting. I hope you have a productive day!

Me: Well, not much going on this morning. I just had a snack and will be working out in a minute. I think I'm up for 4-miles this morning, but I'll have to check the calendar to be sure. After that DH'll make breakfast while I shower and then I imagine we'll be off to run our morning errands. (It'll probably be noon by that point, but whatever. ;D) I need to get laundry and some more cleaning done and the electrician is due today to finish wiring up our new outdoor outlets. Tonight we're probably going to go our separate ways so I can finish a crochet project and watch a fun movie and so he can do some leather work and watch ESPN. Ah - it's so nice that we can do that without feeling ignored!

I hope everyone to come has a great day!

Mmmm....sweet potato pockets!!

Peel a sweet potato. Use mandolin to slice thin (or slice yourself to your liking).

Rip off piece of aluminum foil. Place slices in 1/2 side of foil. Top with salt and pepper (or a bit of agave nectar; or a touch of *gasp* butter!!). Fold and seal foil.

Slap on grill. shake occasionally to "stir".

Take off and ENJOY!! Length of cooking depends on thinness of potatoes.

We used to do white potatoes with onions this way (my husband still does). I also make mushroom/onion pockets this way (or any other veggie...I'm sure broccoli and cauliflower would work well too). Another one: apples!! baked apples on the grill!!

Healthy, and doesn't heat up the kitchen.

Good morning Chickies,

Got the boys off to youthgroup softball game and have to get ready to go shopping with DH and DD2.

I have to say that I made the Kara's recipe for bean brownies last night and did not try them till this morning, they definitely taste like a brownie.

Well gotta run, Have a great day Ladies

Good morning Ladies!!! Happy Weekend!!!
Cottage - Enjoy breakfast with the gang and good luck with the kitchen demolition. I hope this doesn't render you without a kitchen for months on end. Good luck!

Belle - May the literature gods shine upon you today. Have fun working on your book!

Loriann - Don't scales suck! This morning I am up 3.5 pound from yesterday morning, and I didn't eat like crap. I feel your pain, sister!

Twnnb - Glad that you're enjoying the rain. Those sweet potato pockets sound lovely! I'll have to remember that! Thanks for the idea. Have fun shopping for a big girl bed!

Cyndi - Julie is so talented, I was looking through some of the pics when dh woke up. He was SO impressed with her pics. Thank you for sharing them with us. Have a good day, I'm interested in checking out your zucchini pancake recipe. Yum!

Kim - Have fun with your girlie movie tonight. And good luck with your errands today.

Pearlrose - Glad to hear that the brownies turned out yummy!

Me - Today I'm catering an art show. The artist is Todd White (www.artofwhite.com). I really like his stuff.....very Madmen-esque. I'm serving black bean & corn mini tostadas, tomoato bruschetta, artichoke tepenade, cold salmon spread (thank you Schmoodle!), and dates stuffed with goat cheese & almonds. Should be yummy! Then tonight we've got a barbque at a friend's house. Mutual friends are in town from Idaho.....should be fun! Have a great weekend, ladies!
ENJOY!!

Sounds like everyone's busy with their Saturday activities. :)

Cyndi, I never fail to marvel at Julie's photography! I'm glad you had a great time whale-watching. We went on a whale-watching excursion the last time I was in Bar Harbor, but we didn't see any whales at all. Now that my GD will be going to school up there, I hope to get up there often and hopefully see some whales.

I've been banished from the kitchen because of my "helpful" comments. :( My brother, who is a builder, came over to give Jake a hand and it looks like I'm just in the way. At least I know the job will be done expertly. ;)

Hi everyone. I have heartburn from cheating the past two days (not the entire day, but by dinner time, I succumbed to temptation.) We're all stressed out, now not a single lawyer wants to touch this case because of how badly bf's ex-wife's lawyer screwed up, and all of the judges AND lawyers know about the case, and all are taking it out upon the parents which MUST be illegal....

Anyway my BF has been friends with a pastor for years, who is able to stand up in court and 'represent' them and at first he was just going to be a witness but since we've got no options, he said he would review all of the papers. But, BF's psychologist, who was a witness as well, said that he is going to talk to some of his lawyer friends, he's been around a long time and knows some people who may take the case despite things. Legalaid refused to help them because apparently they're "adversary" because bf's demented mother had went up there before they did! That can't possibly be fair for them to deny help to anybody.

So on the go all day, doing all of this back and forth stuff, and gave in each time to fast food restaurants. Neither place had any grilled chicken salads (that's the truth!) But not an excuse. I feel like crap about it.

That sucks Mel. Ehh everyone cheats every now and then, they get right back on track.. don't worry about it. I feel guilty too for just having a SBD turkey santa fe hot sandwich for lunch. I had a SBD cereal bar for breakfast.. I will prob gain myself..

Hi chicks, had fun running around with my BFF this morning. We had breakfast at the PA Dutch market, hit the farmer's market and went clothes shopping at the Gap. The prices are really coming down on the produce at the farmer's market, 5 zukes or green peppers/$1, but they had fresh limas and I wanted some so badly but they were $5/pint, which I thought was outrageous. I got some pattypan squash to try, green beans, cukes, eggplants, and I'm about to get a bunch of zukes and tomatoes from the garden so I think I'm set for the week!
At the Gap I discovered I am a size 14/L. No Xs in front or anything! They had a great sale going, I got 3 pairs of pants, a skirt, and 3 tops for $58.
It's funny, I have only lost 2 lbs in the last 3 months, but just this week, I have been getting comments from every direction on how much I've lost, and I've noticed my 16s jeans are starting to get kinda baggy, so I guess I'm going through one of those periods of not much loss, but things shifting around.
Well, I'll catch up later, we are off to the pool this afternoon, and then the movies later. Have fun, chicks.

Hi chickies. I'm back from my overnight in Ottawa with all the dogs.

Unfortunately it didn't go well as one of Shirleyanne's dogs attacked Disney. She's OK but it was very upsetting for us all. Disney was pretty traumatized - she was taken by the head and shaken but escaped with just a red eyeball and a nick out of her ear. Shirleyanne is considering putting her dog down as this is not the first time. The dog is a Lab/Pit Bull cross :yikes: and has been fine for the past two years. Who knew? It's a good thing Hershey was still in the car when it happened or there would have been a horrible scene.

Anyhow, I'm a tad upset and am going to try to chill out today and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Yes, I'm chilling out with a Scotch!

Barb0522
08-02-2008, 07:34 PM
Ruth - I am so glad Disney is not harmed worse. Give her lots of hugs and loving and hopefully she will get over the trauma okay.

Got to go. I've got friends coming over to swim. I get to talk to Terri and Taylor and Brian can play on the Wii and we can all swim.

Hello everybody! Well I'm sitting here in rural India, listening to the birds calling out to the new day, drinking my first cup of coffee. Today's my "Weigh Day" I'm dreading stepping on the scale this morning... It's that T.O.M. I've done pretty good food wise this week (except for ice cream, re introducing wine and a Jamison's night cap the other night....) Well I'll edit my post with my scale number.

Dcapulet, Welcome back!

Ruth, Glad to hear Disney isn't hurt too bad. Whew!

Mel, Put the cheats behind you and move on, your doing great!

Cottage, What fun!, I love remodeling!
I'm contemplating painting my kitchen/living space ( It's a 16 ft x16 ft room) My kitchen cabinets are purple and aqua marine, with teak wood and glass cupboard doors. my kitchen area takes up a good size of the room. I'm stumped on what color... I'm thinking a pale yellow would go nice, as bold purples and blues are a theme in that room.

Have a great weekend everyone!

UPDATE: Well I'm down 4/10th of a pound!... Gee I'll take it...I was sure I gained... and holding water. It's not enough to change my ticker though...

Last night Brian and I went and got him a cell phone. He is so excited to have a phone and now I don't have to worry about whether he can let me know if Robert picked him up from day care.

It was hot today. Officially 104 with a heat index of around 110. Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. At least I got the yard mowed before it got too hot this morning.

What a gorgeous Sunday morning! Jake and I enjoyed our first cup of coffee on the patio while watching the sunrise. It was almost cool enough for a sweater!

The guys got a lot done in the kitchen yesterday, and I hope Jake is going to start on the tiling today. He wants to mow the lawn first, and usually after that he takes a dip in the pool, so we'll see what happens. My brother is coming over for ribs later this afternoon, and if my dad gets home from his trip in time, I want him and mom to come over, too. Of course Dustin, Andrea and the GC will be here, so it'll be a party-like atmosphere around here.
Monica called to see if Caitlyn and Carley could come out tomorrow to spend the week so she and Eric can get away. Eric rarely gets time off, but he's between shows right now, Les Miz closes today and his new show, Candide, starts rehearsals next week, so they want to get away while they have the chance. It looks like it'll be a lively week!

Ruth, how are you and Disney this morning? I hope you all got a good night's sleep.

Indigal, congratulations! You did pretty well despite your little cheats, you were lucky this time!

Barb, that was a good idea to get Brian his own phone. Sadly, in today's world, most kids really have to have one.

Fly by this morning. The Doggage are on my S-list right now as they got into my cupboard again and I was faced with a major mess this morning! Hershey is the instigator and ate another big bag of oatmeal. Grrrr! She'll be glugging a lot of water today for sure.

Disney seems OK but I am not going to take her to Church. We will do obedience early afternoon and I'll see how she acts. I would think her experience would shake her up pretty badly but she is a survivor. I guess it toughens you up to go through an experience like Katrina!

Garlic harvest party is still happening this afternoon, rain or shine. We may all end up under the tarps that are sort of a tent for hanging garlic but it should be fun. I love parties where everyone brings something! I've got my bean salad made and am going to roast some lovely peppers to do with olive oil, garlic and Balsamic. Yum!

Need to get going and tiddle up for Church. I hope your Sunday is glorious.

GM ALL... Ruth, I'm so glad Disney's alright! Time for child locks on the cupboards? My puppy will get into the garbage if she's left to herself for too long without a walk... funny though, her snacks are in a cupboard she'd be able to open (just like the garbage) but she's never gotten in it! silly girl! Anyway, I have left Jade out and sometimes she's fine, others she gets into the garbage... but I find she prefers to be put in her crate, really!

Ruth, sounds like a busy week. I'm still recooperating from my company last week!

Me... I took Jade for a walk last night and of course we got caught in the rain... I got soaked! :) Luckily we were nearing the end of the walk, so Jade just pushed for us to get home!

I need to make a menu for the week, maybe even the month... I spent yesterday rereading= most of the SBD book. Because of last week's bad choices I thought to go maybe one week P1 and then reintroduce a fruit. I tried introducing cereal and banana but um, my whole plan was shot with DN here, I ordered pizza one night for he and my son, and next day hiking, um, with four teens was cheaper to order pizza... being unemployed I didn't want to spend more than I needed, so pizza again... lets just say it shows on the scales...

So my plan is to go back to P1 for one week, continue to exercise, and increase my water intake like crazy. I thought i was drinking enough, but now I'm thinking even more with= the amount of coffee intake! :)

On another note... I wish there were a church around here that I felt comfortable to go!

Good morning Chicks :coffee2:

Twynn - Now i'm thinking grill for dinner ;) I have to get the hang of that mandolin without hurting myself though. I have little cuts all over my fingers again. Oops

Heather - Your catering spread sounds amazing!

Melanie - you know the drill, just get back on and keep going. You're doing great!

dcapulet -

Indigal - Love your colors :) We have an eggplant living room, olive exercise/guest room and sage bedroom. After that I ran out of steam. We rent and this house is so old that every project gets bigger than it looked. Do you have pictures?

Cottage - sounds like a busy day in the construction zone!

Ruth - Glad to hear Disney is doing okay. What a scary experience! A garlic harvest party sounds fabulous! Wonder how long it would take me to get there ;)

Nothing too exciting here - weekend chores were a little slow yesterday so still a lot to do today. The rain and humidity aren't helping things but that's been the summer. Have a good day everyone!

Hello chicks, it's a lovely morning here, I am trying to get 3 loads out on the line as the rain has put me behind on laundry.
indigal and Cyndi, I love a girl who isn't afraid of bold color! pale yellow does sound like it would be nice with those colors. I've got a bright apricot office and parlor and a darkish royal blue living room. Colors make me happy! I think they look especially great in an old house.
Dcapulet, glad to see you back, love the avatar!
Loriann, any gain you have is likely mostly water, it will come off quickly. Pizza is so salty. Drink, drink, drink, and you'll get right back on track.
Ruth, glad Disney is okay, have fun at the garlic party! Hershey just wants to make sure she gets her fiber.

Well today is a lovely day, maybe I'll get something done. I haven't yet begun to exercise to my Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD because I'm afraid with the jumping jacks and jump rope moves I will shake the whole ceiling and I like to exercise in secret, I know it's probably messed up, lol

On the other note, gained a lb and it sucks, but still able to fit into my new 40" shorts so I'm not gonna worry about it. Guess I gotta lay off the SBD cereal bars and snack bars and the 1-2 sugar free sodas I drank yesterday. I've been feeling bloated the last couple days so my TOM is probably arriving as well.

Anyway enough about me, how is everyone this morning?

Good morning ladies! Happy Sunday!

Yesterday was really good. The catering went well (unfortunately, there was not a huge crowd, so I ended up with lots of leftovers). And the barbque with friends was a lot of fun. We hadn't seen this group of friends in quite a while, so it was good catching up with all of them.
Today we've got church this morning, then I'm off for groceries. This evening we're going to go see the Dark Knight at the theater. We're both really looking forward to it.
I hope everyone's day is productive and enjoyable!
Have a good one!

Heh, I know, I like to exercise in secret as well, I'm weird like that. One day my bf came home early right when I was about to do an exercise video so I was like, 'GO TO THE BEDROOM AND WATCH TV SO I CAN DO MY EXERCISES!!!"

Then I screamed when he tried to come back into the living room to get his soda.

He thinks I'm completely insane.

Yeah, the SBD food products on the shelves don't really look so SBD compliant IMO, I looked at some of them at the grocery store the other day. They've got a lot of additives. Have you done Phase 1 yet? How did you do?

Good Afternoon all :)

This is my first day at the beach!

Last night we went to a concert, slept late today and have spent this morning making veggie quiches for breakfast. I have some beef marinating in the fridge for tonight's stir fry (going to be weird without rice!!) and am currently sipping on a can of V8, which was lunch along with some turkey bacon, tomato slices and a light mozzerella cheese stick. The V8 doesn't taste half as bad as I thought it would!

Melanie you're story made me laugh. DH has learned to give me my space too when I do my thing at the house.

Anyway, I should post an intro thread or something so I'll get to that right away!

I'm on Phase 2, Phase 1 I seemed to lose on, but Phase 2 doesn't seem that way. And ever since I reintroduced a starch and a fruit into the equation I've been nothing but hungry, so I think I'm gonna cut those out once again.

Jelly, not cut out, perhaps switch which carbs and fruits your eating! And pay attention to WHEN! How about adding an apple with peanut butter as a snack, and perhaps a bit of a grain to go with dinner. Make sure your eating it with veggies!!!!!

Coming in late on this one, but have been up to my eyeballs getting my classroom ready and dealing with puppies. Spent all day long running back and forth from home to school, to store. I've spent about $400 so far on that room and haven't put a dent in what I will probably need.

Sadly, one of the puppies died yesterday afternoon. Bijoux discovered it was gone in the middle of the night and went crazy looking for it and we felt so bad for her. She has calmed down now and the rest of the babies are just fine.

Starting on Tuesday, I guess I'll be joining the ranks of "lunch packers"!!!
Come on, leftovers!!

We broke a record today with a temp of 107. It was the hottest we have been in 10 years for any date and an all time record for the date. It felt nice in the pool. I had a few errands to run today but not too many. Robert was on time both days this weekend for picking up Brian so I guess the email I sent him got through to him. hi ladies,

well, my first day back on the plan was a good one. i haven't had side effects like a headache which is usual for me. it wasn't too hard to avoid carbs, until tonight. i work overnights, and there are always lots of donuts and carb goodies here. i'm so hungry, but i shouldn't be eating this late anyway. i know that it's only because they are right in my reach; otherwise, i wouldn't want them. but i'm going to be strong, and not ruin a good day!
