Yesterday turned into a bit of a nightmare of a day -- seems my buddy LouLou is the one in 50,000 people who has an adverse reaction to the dye (or maybe the other liquid they made here drink) they pumped into her before her weird cat scan yesterday -- she almost died. :yikes: Anyway, we obviously spent the whole day at the hospital but everything is okay now and she is home again and resting comfortably.

Today, we are starting a long weekend here in Nova Scotia and also in most other parts of Canada so naturally the forecast is for 3 days of solid rain. :s: So far it isn't raining but it's close to it.

Hope everybody else has a great weekend . . . see you later . . . :grouphug:

Good morning. I love a new thread. August is going to be one hot month for sure. It was 102 here with the heat index yesterday and going to be the same. We're trying to cool down the house really good this morning. No cooking for me inside. This evening we grill.

Meowee- Sorry about your friend. Hope she is resting lots.

Okay off to drink my coffee.....

Did y'all think I had deserted you??????? NOT!!!! Just a lot going on...Sorry, and I'll try to not let it happen again!

Things down this way are the same....HOT, HUMID, and NOT ENOUGH RAIN!!
Kate is fine, in fact, she had to take care of me last night. I had to take a muscle relaxer, and it absolutely knocked my on my arse. I was falling every where, couldn't get up etc. http://bestsmileys.com/falling/1.gif She came rolling down the hall in her wheelchair, helping me get up, and believe me, that was a task! BUT....she succeeded and I was in the bed by 9 p.m. Needless to say, I was up by.... 3:30a.m. and here I am. My knees are so sore that I can't hardly walk, but hoping that will subside. There are rug burns though..... http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/7.gif

Hope everyone is doing well, at least better than me! Haven't read the back posts, but will and get back to everyone when I do.

OH....and if you haven't seen the movie:

DEFINATELY, MAYBE

DON'T MISS THIS ONE...It's one of the sweetest movies I've ever seen!

Good Morning . . .

Glad to see you BOB . . . wish I could send you some of our rain.

I thought it was raining pretty steadily yesterday, but that was nothing compared to the sheets of it that are falling this morning -- looks like the sky has sprung a major leak. The latest forecast calls for continuing rain until at least Wednesday. :yikes: Where did I put those Ark builidng plans, anyway? Oh well, at least it isn't hot at the moment. I do feel sorry for all of those across Canada who were looking forward to this long weekend and all the activities planned for it, though. For ORFs like me -- hey, good opportunity to get some inside stuff done.

Hope everybody else has good weather and a fun day on the go . . . see you soon. :grouphug:

Hello everyone. Just had a great late breakfast of 1/2 toasted ww bagel with light cream cheese, sliced cherry tomatoes and a banana. After eating horrible last night its good to be back on track. We're going to grill burgers tonight. Its going to be another horrible hot day again. I'll be staying in. Maybe I'll even get on the treadmill.

Bob- Oh boy its good to see you. Sounds like you had quite an experiance last night. Those pills can be something else. I just had to take some when my back went out. Hope you're okay..... Sounds like Kate is doing fine.

Meowee- Send some of that rain here too..... Hope LuLu is doing well today....

Okay off I go. Have a good day and stay cool....

Good Morning . . .

My day started too early, but at least my blood sugar was good and the scale is holding steady. So is the crummy holiday weekend weather. Tomorrow may finally see the end of the rain for a day or two. :crossed:

Looks like inside stuff for me again -- got some crochet projects and some sewing projects I can play with and, if I get really bored, I can always do some laundry.

Hope everybody else has a great day planned.

Good morning ladies

Weekend was a busy one. Spent the day in the pool yesterday, seems the place to be in the next couple days, 110 with the heat index.

Meowee, that's a lot of rain. We could use ome here for sure. Wow, glad your friend is ok now. That is scarry.

Bob, Hope you are feeling yourself today. I bet Kate is sore too! I heard that movie was cute. Will have to check PPV for it. We watched Hairspray last night. I know, I am way behind times. It was ok.

Toni, It was hot here and getting hotter. Better stay inside for the next couple days. I think it is going to cool off here by Friday. I think theya re calling for rain Wed & Thurs so I guess it will be coming your way first.

Saturday, we went to a park and walked the 1 1/2 mile track there. There was a killer hill. I didn't think I was going to make it up it. I was huffing and puffing. Rudy had to sit under a tree or two along the way. I wanted to join him. That was after our pancake breakfast. At least I stopped at 2 and took my SF syrup with me. The rest of the weekend was downhill.

Have a great day. Off to eat lunch.

Hello. Eating is good today. I need to walk on my treadmill but just don't feel like it yet. I took a big nap this afternoon. Its 101 here right now. And I have no idea with the heat index what that would be. So I'm staying inside. DH has to work in a place with no air conditioning. I feel so bad for him. Not much else happening here...

Solly- I heard to we're supposed to cool off a bit at the end of the week. I sure hope so. Sounds like you did allot of exercise this week end. Good for you.

Meowee- Well you've got lots of stuff planned. Have a good day......

I'm off to have a V8.....

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Gee . . . surprise . . . it's raining. :s: We did get about 15 minutes of sun yesterday and then right back to the rain complete with thunderstorms and even a funnel cloud that touched down not too far from here -- really strange weather for Nova Scotia. :dizzy:

Must go out and run between the raindrops this morning -- groceries are needed and I just cannot wait another day for a few things.

Have a gret day everybody . . . :carrot:

meowee- Sorry you're getting so much rain. Sure wish we would and you could have some of this heat....

Hi ladies

Not up to par today. Got real shakey yesterday and just felt sick at my stomach all day. Went to bed early and felt fine this morning, but by 9:30 my stomach was upset again. Ran and got some soup for lunch, just could not tolerate the salad I had brought and have drank 2 ginger ales but nothing is helping. I so wanted to gt back to the gym tonight. I may try to push myself, we will have to see.

Christian, I use a 45 calories per slice bread also. It is Health Living I beleive.

Toni, It is hot here today too but we have had some rain so now it is just an oven out there. A nap sounds so good right now

Meowee, Wow hopefully there wasn't much damage from the tornado. Hope you make it to the store w/o getting too wet.

Got to run.

We have had a mostly sunny day for a change and the tempertures have been absolutely delightful, too -- So why do I feel headachey and draggy? :dunno: Guess my body has gotten used to the constant rain. Sorry I missed yesterday. Really couldn't remember if I had posted or not. Getting old.

Feeling better off and on. Eating has not been good. Only made it to the gym once this week and no walks. Our weather is simply beautiful, low 80's and blue skies.

No big plans for the weekend, but will find a pool somewhere I'm sure. Not much time left for that.

Toni, thanks for checking on me.

Meowee, glad you headache is gone, wish your rain would go away too!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi there . . .

Another overcast and humid, but fairly cool day. It is definitely rushing right on by again too. The older I get the faster time moves. :dunno:

Food wise, I'm developing a very bad pattern this month -- good day; bad day; good day; bad day -- etcetera. Must break this pattern NOW. Weight is still hovering on the high side of 212 and BGL is hovering a little too high also -- yesterday (bad day), I had over 2000 calories and 600 of them were contained in a chocolate bar. :o Why do I do these things to myself? Oh well . . . onward and downward, I hope. :crossed:

Have a great evening everybody . . . :carrot:

Good Morning, Sweeties . . . :grouphug:

I slept in this morning and consequetly the BGL was too high (always seems to work that way), but at least the www (weird-water-weight) that I've been hanging onto for the past couple of days seems to have left again. Had an OP eating day yesterday and planning to keep that pattern going today.

Weather is still mostly overcast and very humid, but the temperatures are at fairly comfly levels. I do plan mostly inside stuff for today -- want to do a bunch of sewing stuff -- actually I feel so well organized since I'm working on Christmas presents in August. I'll probably still be working on Christmas present in December, of course. :dizzy:

Hope everybody else has a great day planned . . .

Gee whiz it looks like Meowee has been holding the fort down by herself. Sorry I was a slob and didn't come on for a couple days. I wasn't doing well over the week end so avoided being here. Hope everyone else did better. I'm over run by tomatoes and need to eat eat eat them. But I think I'll have to freeze some cause they're taking me over. But not enough to can. We roasted some yummy garlic yesterday. We ordered a large braid of it from Calif. and its so beautiful and big. Also grilled last night a pork tenderloin for dinner. Yum. We've had beautiful weather over the week end. Well need to run and get breakfast. I'll check back later. Have a good day.

I'm here,

Sorry I didn't make it yesterday. Looks like Toni and Meowee are all alone here. Where is everyone?

Weekend eating was also bad. But DD is on a calorie counted diet by her trainer so I am hoping that keeps me on track as well. So far so good.

Toni, don't let bad eating keep you away. That's when you need it the most.

Meowee, wow I am impressed that you are working on Christmas presents already. What are you making everyone? I wish I could sew. I have bought a couple gifts so far. DH and I are not buying each other anything since we are going to St Maartin in Jan. That will be our Christmas.

I wish more people would join in. Come on everyone who is lurking out there.

You 2 have a great day.

Hi . . .

Glad to see you SOLLY and I wonder where everybody else is hiding? I'm working on aprons right now -- 4 mobius shaped (cross-over in the back kind) for the kids and 8 chef style (over the head with long ties) for the adults.

Actually didn't do any sewing yesterday either . . . and down below you can see why. I know, I know, I really did not need another cat. But he was so cute and so in need of a safe home. Right now it's like he is the only cat in the house because the other 5 have their collective noses totally out of joint and have gone into hiding -- which is better than the hissing and growling and posturing that was going on yesterday when I first brought the newcomer home -- oh well, this too will pass in a day or so. Cats really hate change.

Anyway, hope you two have a great day and that more of us show up to do some busting and shaking soon . . . BTW . . . Here's SANDY . . .

Good afternoon ladies. Had my breakfast/lunch just now. Shredded wheat and bran cereal with 1/2 banana and a slice of ww toast and peanut butter. I'm trying to get more fiber in my diet. Doing some laundry right now. Other than that my day is pretty boring.

Solly- Where is everyone.... Its so sad this is so slow. Hope you're doing okay.

Meowee- Wow wish I was on your Christmas list. What wonderful gifts.....

Okay off and running. Hope my new shirts I ordered from Dillards come today. I'll be looking for the Fedex man....

Hi there . . . :grouphug:

SSDD in the feline menagerie -- Sandy still thinks his best place is under the kitchen table although he is getting a little braver -- all five adults are still pussy-footing around him.

Another OP day under my belt yesterday but the nasty old scale- doesn't seem willing to budge off this 212 number. Just have to wait him out, I guess.

At least we re supposedly going to have pleasant tempratures, lower humidity and mostly sunshine from now all the way through the weekend. We'll see. :s:

Hi ladies,

We went to the park last night and walked 3 miles. The one with the killer hill. It totally wiped me out, especially the 2nd time around. I wasn't good for anything after that. Eating is good still.

Toni, good job on your eating. Benn on the :tread: lately? Do you like Dillards? I refuse to shop there. One, they are outrageously expensive & it seems everything is designer clothes and 2 I hate their return policy. They took over our beloved Bacon's which is similar to Kohls.

Meowee, oh my that is a lot of cats. I hope they all get along soon. The aprons sound so cute. What a nice gift. I have 2 that Iwear alot b/c I am such a messy cook.

Good morning.

Walked 35 minutes last night.
Was over on my calories for the day by 150 but have been under all week so I am not concerned. Even had 2 light beers last night. Should either walk or go to the gym or both tonight. DD and SIL want to join so I am happy about that. Just hope I don't have to pay for them.

Toni, we had chicken burritos last night. They were good, but I was still hungry afterwards. I have never looked at their online stuff. Not much on that, but then again, we have plenty of stores around us.

Meowee, Hope your day is going well and the kitty is fitting in better.

Have a great day.

Hello friends! I had a little time and thought I would check in.

Life continues to be crazy around our house. Tom was laid off again in early June and has a new job starting Monday. Kaeleb had his 2nd birthday, and is a delight each day. I keep him two or three days a week while they work and I am enjoying our time.

I have been sick for the last few days with a stomach/intestinal bug. I have not felt much like eating. I sure hope it translates into a loss on the metal monster. When I am feeling well, I try and spend a lot of time in the pool, or walking. I need to walk more, but I am still having trouble with my heel, so I have to load up on ibuprofen when I do.

The weather has been too hot to work in the garagio, so I have done very little work lately. I hope that changes soon!

:grouphug: Take care everyone!

08-15-2008, 10:36 AM
Good Morning all you Sweetie-Pies . . . :grouphug: . . . and, an extra  for you Ellen.

Sorry I was AWOL yesterday . . . not a good day at all.

Two major (and a few minor ones, too) things brought ruination to my day yesterday . . .

My kitchen sink self-destructed. The trap had been leaking slowly for a few days (probably longer from the conditions I found under the sink). But yesterday, the faucet literally broke off in my hand, while I was moving it from one side to the other and by the time I got the taps turned off, the ceiling had been washed. :dizzy: I have yet to hear back from the plumber even though I've left two messages and may have to start looking for another plumber. Don't mind that I'm getting some extra exercise carrying water from bathroom to kitchen (split level house; have to go up or down half a flight to 'find' water) for most things, but I'm concerned about doing dishes since I'm nervous about running the dishwasher since I really don't know the condition of the rest of the waterworkings in the kitchen and I do not have laundry tubs.

Then, a major food meltdown occured -- so far no scale effect from my pig out yesterday but it will probably come -- it was really a 'final meal' kind of thing for LouLou -- her doctor finally (after almost a year of testing for other stuff) decided to do the blood tests for Celiac Disease (not one of the first things they seem to think of in a 68 year old woman, I guess) and, from the reading I've done, that sounds like a very likely answer for most of her ongoing problems, even the nasty flare-up of diverticulitis that she definitely has. She won't know for sure for another week when she sees the internal medicine specialist. But from the outcome of the very high gluten meal we had yesterday (pizza, pasta, bread, brownie buffet), sounds like a strong possibility to me -- she had to run to the washroom six times while we were in the restaurant; then she hit every washroom in every store we were in for the next hour; and as well as the ongoing diarrhea she also started throwing up the final two or three stops. So I gave here a bunch of reading material I printed off the www and took her home to bed . . . gee, this diagnosis would even explain the funny sores she gets on her arms, legs, and buttocks that have been going on for years with everybody trying to figure out what she's allergic to. Although I wouldn't wish Celiac Disease on anybody at least it would give her a direction. She is just about at her wit's end with these problems she's been having for so long.

Nothing else is new -- don't need anything else right now anyway. :dizzy: Weather is still humid although the sun is shinging today.

Have a good one, gang . . . see you later . . . :carrot:

Hello all

I have been lurking for a bit and thought I would introduce myself.

I am a 44 year old nurse and mother of 5 from just outside Louisville, Ky (We are neighbors Solly) :)

I having been investigating several diets and SB seems to be the best way to go for me right now. I am struggling with hypothyroidism as a result of having my gland removed. A friend who is a nurse practitioner recommended a low GI diet and SB specifically.

I will be buying the book this evening and would like to join this group and tap into your knowledge if that is ok with everyone.

Regards,

Debbie

Good evening ladies. Today has been busy. We had lots of errands to run. But we did get our trailer reserved for our trip to Calif. We're bringing back some furniture with us on our return trip so thats why we need the trailer. I'm so looking forward to going. I haven't been back to Calif. in awhile. Eating has been fine. Think we're having pizza for dinner.

Debbie-:welcome3: To our little corner of the world. Just jump in here with questions. On the frequently asked questions is a list of stuff you can and can't have if you want to get started before your book comes. This is an excellent way of eating. And easy to make a lifestyle change.

Meowee- Oh my gosh what awful plumbing problems, I hope you got a hold of a plumber. Hope your friend gets some answers....

Ellen- It was so good to see you posting. I've missed you so much.... I watch Etsy to see if you have any new pottery on there.

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

The sun is shining . . . although the humidity is still too high . . . . . . but most things in my world are on an upswing . . .

 I have a useable kitchen water supply again . . . and the good news is that less work was required than I had anticipated. All the water I'd been seeing over the past week or two was coming from the deteriorating tap situation. Although I would have liked to get new sinks too, they actually talked me out of it. Gotta  living in a small community where even the plumbers don't try to talk you into unneccessary (and expensive) work. Of course, I imagine the bill for what they did do, will be enough of a shocker when it arrives. Only down note, my precious little swiveling aerator that I bought years ago won't fit the new faucet so today I go hunting for another one. I seem to recall that it originally came with alternate attachement pieces, but I have no idea where they may have gone. I did replace my bathroom sink . . . the drain had been giving me some trouble for a long time (very slow to empty). When they tried to remove the sink from the existing downpipe, the bottom of the old sink gave up the ghost. So I got my new sink -- just not the one I had planned on.

Speaking of changes in the bthroom . . . . . . Things in the feline menagerie seem to be progressing okay except that 'somebody' (I have two possible candidates -- Frick and Blizzard -- both of whom are playing really shy around Sandy and have decided they prefer to live upstairs as much as possible) is using the bathtub as a litter box. Could be worse, at least it's easy to clean up in there. ;)

Nothing much else going on for me . . . hope the rest of you are having a great weekend . . .

Hello Ladies!!!

No, I haven't abandoned the boards, just been so busy with work and moving my daughters into college and apartments that I haven't had time to breath. I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and staying healthy.
I love my job and am learning a lot each day. It is very strange to come home to an empty house though. I can't believe it's just my husband and I. I think he's enjoying the fact that he has my undivided attention now though. Men do get pushed aside a bit when we're raising children. It's been nice to sit at night and just talk.
I weighed myself today and am still at 154 pounds. I think I'm going to have to move a lot more than I am if I'm going to break through this plateau. I'm in no hurry though, when it happens it happens. Just staying the same is a victory for me.
Well, I've got to finish clearing up the loose ends that I can only get done on the weekends now, so have a great Sunday all!!:)

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

It's another beautiful day -- low humidity, pleasant temperatures, a great little breeze, and lots of sunshine -- this is what summer is supposed to be like here in Atlantic Canada.

Things in the Cat Circus seem to be evening out -- Sandy and Blizzard were actually playing together yesterday. In the continuing 'bathtub-saga', I'm beginning to thing Dandy Sandy might be the culprit. I put about an inch of water in the bottom of the tub and left it overnight. So far he is the only one to show up with wet feet. :s: Just hope he doesn't decide to leave little "offerings" in worse places now. I know, he knows where the littler is located. Some cats just don't like to share the facilities. Time will tell, I guess.

Well gang . . . looks like another day of enjoying the great outdoors around here -- I have been slacking off with the crafting projects this past week, but guess I'll get back to them soon enough. Hope the rest of you have a great day . . .

Godd morning everyone. Weekend was not good eating wise. DD wanted Italian and even though I was good and only ate half, too much bread, etc. Then since I was all alone Sat night, there was no stopping. Boredom I guess. yesterday was spent at my niece's in Georgetown at a party.

Still can't figure out why I am so tired. Not just your usual tired, but exhausted. It was all I could do to get to dinner Sat night. Then I am so tired, I can't get to sleep. I see the Rheumatologist tomorrow, so maybe she will have some answers. '

Toni, when is your trip to Calf? I asusme you will be gone for awhile? The weather has been nice here to. I love it, but it sure makes the pool water too cold to enjoy.

Ellen, glad to see your post. So glad Tom has found a job. I can't beleive the baby is already 2. Seems like yesterday he was just born. Glad you are getting to spend some quality time with him. Is your DD and SIL still living with you? Please post more, we really miss you.

Chris, The empty nest syndrome. It is funny, you will get used to them being gone and before you know it, it will be Christmas and then summer and they are back home and then it messes up your "new" routine and you really don't mind them leaving again. Four years later, mine is back home and we have re-adjusted again. When and if she leaves, it will be hard to adjust.

Debbie, welcome neighbor. Looking forward to getting to know you. Ask questions and someone will be able to help you. Good luck.

Meowee, Glad your plumbing situation wasn't that bad. It is nice to get new things even if it is just a sink. Glad the kitties are getting along better.

Gotta run. Have a great day

Good morning. I had wine over the week end which probably messed my eating up. Made a pot of taco soup for dinner last night. I shouldn't have put in the hot rotels it set me on fire. We've been having some weird nice weather. Only in the 80's.

Meowee- Your kitties sound so cute. Hope Sandie starts using the litter box. But it sure doesn't sound like it.

Solly- Sounds like something is off in your body for you to be so tired. I hope you find out what it is. We're going to Calif. the end of Sept.

Lunch with a friend today. So I'd better get around and do some things. Have a good day...

Good Morning Sugar-Babes . . . :grouphug:

Guess three gorgeous days in a row was too much for Ma Nature to even think about. Actually it looks good out there right now -- sunny and a pleasant breeze, but the humidity is way up there again and the forecast is for rain by this afternoon. Oh well, I've got lots on indoor stuff that needs doing.

Dandy Sandy seems to be using the litter box since his preferred spot (the tub) is no longer available (at least I haven't found any other spots); but he does come in and sniff the tub every morning about the same time. Guess I'll have to keep that bit of water in the bottom at all times from now on. :dizzy:

Have a great moving and shaking day, gang . . . see you later . . . :carrot:

Good afternoon. Even if I just got finished eating my breakfast. Had some wheat and bran shredded wheat and a piece of toast. Just got ready to go the beauty shop and get this rag mop cut off my head. Other than that have no plans. I do need to get to that laundry. Yuck... Not much else going on here.

Meowee- Glad your cats are doing good. We're having beautiful weather here too.

Well I'm off to get my hair cut....

Hi there . . .

Just wanted to say GOOD MORNING . . . before it isn't either morning or good anymore. After a terrible evening and night of thunderstorms, this morning has been glorious -- sunny, dry, cool -- although it is starting to get a little more cloudy now as afternoon approaches. Actually, for many it is probably a bit too cool since it will likely not even make it into the 20s (70s) today, but this is just how I like it.

Life is still fairly good in the feline world -- although they knocked over a lamp in the night and completely demolished the shade -- but other than that, no surprises. So, I'll be out looking for a new shade this afternoon -- maybe a new lamp. :chin:

On another slightly down note, I seemed to have managed to get the BGL and the WL moving in the same direction this morning -- unfortunately the direction is upward. Hey, once again this will pass. After all is said and done, this is a lifelong journey we are facing and one day will neither make it or break it.

Have a great moving and shaking kind of day, everybody . . . :carrot:

Oh he we've got rain. My tomatoes are going to be so happy. Even if I did give them a little water yesterday. I'm even a little cold. Eating has been fair it could be better. I've got a roast in the crockpot cooking.

Meowee- Sounds like the kitties are at it. Hope your BGL goes down.

Well guess I'll get busy on the laundry. Yuck......

This is going to be a quick post, I should be in the shower already. Thank you Solly for the heads up about my "empty nest" LOL. Just wanted to update my ticker. I'm down to 151 this morning. Six more pounds, then maintenance.

Good morning, soory I have been MIA, I have had meetings all week.
I have been to the gym 3 nights this week and today I got up early and walked before work. I woke up at 3:30 and could not go back to sleep, so at 5:30 thought might as well do something worthwhile. Now if I could only get my eating on track, life would be good.

Toni, enjoyyour haircut. I am always more than ready when it comes time to get mine done. We have not had any rain. Calling for a slight chance on Sunday. We need it though.

Meowee, glad you have Dandy Sandy straightened out. Hope you get some new shades, treat yourself to a new lamp

Chris, wow 6 more pounds to maintenance is awesome. Wish I were in your shoes. Have a great weekend.

Well guess that is everyone. Our group sure has dwindled down. No big plans for the weekend. Will wait and see what comes along. Have a good one everyone

Hi Sweeties . . . :grouphug:

Both temperature and humidity are climbing rapidly today (at least it's sunny) and, naturally, I've got a very busy day planned -- it will include lunch with friends and it's going to be Chinese. :yikes: I will avoid the breaded stuff, of course, and eat lots of vegetables, but it's pretty much impossible to avoid the high sodium levels so, don't think I'll be seeing any downward scale movement tomorrow either -- I can almost feel my cankles starting to swell already. Hey, all we can do is out best.

Everything in the feline world is calm -- everybody is getting along and no disasters since the lamp situation. After pricing very expensive shades (needed two; so they'd match) decided to put both of the good lamps away for a little while and bought two cute cheapies ($20 each) at WalMart. I  them and won't feel badly if they meet a fate similar to the others. After Sandy is full grown and settles down a little, I might drag out the others and get them new shades, but don't imagine that will be happening this year. :dizzy:

Hope everybody has a great day and that you all manage to keep things moving and shaking just as much as you possible can. See you later . . . :carrot:

Solly- Missed you this week. I want to believe there are several lurking and they'll come and post soon. Now kids are going back to school etc. Good for you and the walking.

Meowee- Nice you got new lamps. Hope you have a good week end.

Chris- congrads on the weight loss.

Hi there gang . . .

It has turned very hot and sticky again -- but, since this is the annual Bluegrass Music Festival at the fairgrounds across the road, I think I might be kind of content to have the house shut up tight with the A/C roaring away. Twelve hours a day of that kind of music is a little bit above my enjoyment level.

Here's a little hint that turned up in my e:mail this morning . . . wow it has been a very long time since we Diabetics had to use urine test strips for blood sugar monitoring, but it's nice to know that they can still come in useful . . .

Want to make sure that Diet Coke is actually diet? Use Clinistix or Diastix urine glucose test strips to test. Just take a small amount of food or drink in your mouth and mix it with your saliva, then spit out a small amount on the test strip. A change in color indicates the presence of sugar or starch. Don’t just dip the test strip into the food or drink; saliva is essential to the reaction because it contains an enzyme that releases glucose.

Anyway, hope everybody has a great weekend planned . . . keep things moving and shaking . . . :carrot:

What a lazy Sunday. I feel awful today so haven't done much of anything. We are going to grill some steaks in a bit. Hope I'm able to eat mine. Hope everyone is having a good week end.

Meowee- I would love the bluegrass music. But 12 hours would be a bit much for me too. Its hot and humid it here also. I hate it outside right now.

Well off to get DH moving....

Good Monday morning all. A new week. Hopefully I'll get on my treadmill and at least do a tiny bit. I've got a corned beef in the crockpot. DH loves it. Not the best food choice. Lots to do today so I'd better get busy.

Hi ladies,

Yesteday was just crazy here so I didn't have time to get on here much less eat or pee. The eating was a good thing. My Saturday was a total disaster as far as food. It was like I stuffed my face the whoel 24 hrs. I was miserable and of course the scale showed it. So, I have been doing some serious thinking (again) and now that both of my DD's are going to the gym I am going to get serious with this eating and not let them get ahead of me in losing wt. Well one of them at least. My youngest and I were sharing clothes for awhile, but she has done so great and has lost a ton (she won't weigh so we don't know how much), but she had gone down about 3 sizes. I did great with my exercise last week, almost every day. So I have to get my eating in line to go along with it.

We are all going to the gym on our own now, right after work. Hubby didn't want to wait for 2 hours on me, then he is out of the mood to go, and DD doesn't get off until 6 o'clock now. So I am going straight from work and that works well. It cuts about 1/2 an hours off of my time. I went last ngiht and had a good 60 minute work out and then walked for 30 minutes with the dog later. Just go to make food a low priority instead of a high one.

Toni, hop you are making it on the :tread: today. I love corn beef. Is it that bad?

Meowee, I wish you could run my errands for me. I have birthday presents to get for this weekend. Hope you don't melt in the rain.

Sure wish some oldies would come back, where is BOB, Country, Gymrat, Chris and others?

Well, I have another meeting this afternoon so I had better get busy. I need to track my food for the day yet. have a great one.

Morning..... Can't seem to get awake this morning. I need to go make oatmeal. Its what DH wants for breakfast. My corned beef last night was wonderful. And of course I loved the cabbage.

Meowee- Hope you have a good day.

Solly- I'm sure glad you're here. Sounds like you're really going to get back on eating right and your exercise plan is great... Good luck with it. I'm with you where is everybody!

Off to have my coffee and get going...

Good afternoon. It is crazy busy here. had to go to a meeting I had not planned on attending. So now I'm way behind.

Eating good, and exercise is even better. Getting good works out at the gym. Only problem, my back is killing me.

Toni, I have trouble waking up every morning. The lyrica I take really zaps me and I have trouble getting up. I can't take it in the morning as it dries out my eyes and makes things blurry. I need to reduce the mg probably. I was like you sunday, I thought today was Saturday. Told DH to turn off my alarm thinking I could sleep in. I must have been sound a sleep.

Meowee, hope your day is going good.

Got to run have a great day.

Hi there, gang . . .

I seem to be having a bad couple of days -- lots of little aches and pains (which are definitely not being helped by the continuing cool and damp weather) coupled with a little tummy upset too. Oh well -- this will pass -- hopefully soon. :D

Good morning ladies,

Meowee, hope you feel better as the day goes on. Some days those aches and pains are worse than others.

Toni, hope you are having a great day.

Went to the gym last night but sure did not want to. I was exhausted. It took all I had to get through my workout. I don't think it was as good as it should have been, but at least I did it. Hope tonight is better. Eating is good. I did have 3 Bud Lite Limes last nite, but I was still in my calorie limit for the day.

Gots lots to do, so better run. Have a great one

Hi Ho everyone. LOL that means you two.... Coffee is yummy today and I'm in a great mood. Slept like a rock last night. Sad to say the tomato worms are getting my tomatoes. I'm fighting them like crazy but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. Eating hasn't been great. I'm having a hard time getting back on SB.

Solly- You're so inspiring. :bravo: Keep up the good work on the exercise. I'll bet even through you didn't think you did good last night your body was feeling it. Haven't tried the Bud light lime yet but did have a couple of Chelato beers from Bud light and liked them.

Meowee- So sorry you've been under the weather. Hope today is a better day.

Need to make our breakfast/lunch and figure out what we're having for dinner. Have a great day...

Good morning

Have a great work out at the gym last night. I was sweating buckets. I was dragging all night afterwards. Eating on track, but here comes the weekend. You know what that means. Will try very hard to be healthy. We are tailgating at the big game this weekend (UL vs UK) We do not have tickets, but Dh wants to go tailgate and go home and watch. Which is fine. That is a game I would just rather be at home. UK normally loses, but UL doesn't have too much this year so we will see.

Monday we have a birthday for my great niece. Not sure what he is fixing for dinner. Will have to do the best I can.

Tonight starts our weekly happy hour at Buckheads. I am planning on limiting myself to 2 glasses of wine.

Toni, glad you had such a great day yesterday. A good night sleeps really starts the day off right. I have not been totaly doing SB, but tracking my calories and watching the sugar as much as I can and eating whole grains as much as possible. Maybe you should fine something else for awhile that might work for you.

Meowee, hope you are having a great day.

Well got to run, lots to do. Everyone have a great long weekend. I will try to check in on my Blackberry. Not sure how hard it is to do there.

Hello ladies.... I'm late getting on today. Haven't really been busy more like lazy. LOL... Guess we'll just stay home this week end and maybe grill or something like that. Its nice DH has and extra day off.

Solly- You're doing great, keep it up girlfriend. I think you're right I need some change in my eating. I need to find something to help me. Maybe counting calories might be good for me. Wish we could set down and have a good talk.... I'll hope you have a good week end.

Meowee- Darn you've been under the weather for awhile now. I sure hope you get to feeling good soon and you have some bright and sunny days. Hows those kitties?

Well guess I'll run and search out the site a little and try to get some inspiration.

Hi there . . .

Slept in this morning and I finally seem to have the stomach bug under control; but the aches and pains are a different matter entirely. As a matter of fact, today I seem to have managed to pinch a little nerve in the good old sacro-area. Not bad sitting, but if I try to walk -- OMG. Did want to do a little shopping but guess that will be going by the wayside for the time being. Oh yeah . . . it's still mostly raining. If that would ever stop I'd probably ache less.

Hope the long weekend is starting better for the rest of you . . . keep things moving and shaking just as much as you can, gang. :carrot:

Hello.... I've been really busy all day. Got my wash done. And a pot of chicken and noodles with yeast rolls. Its warm here and you can hear lots of people on the river. They float in canoes here. Its big business in the summer. This is the last big week end in our little tourist town. Hope you ladies are having a nice holiday.

What? No BOB, and today was the kickoff of the SEC season??? Send out the the search parties!

Life continues to continue on its frustrating path here. I found out a store that had some of my work on consignment went out of business, taking mine and others work with them to where ever they are...and I am out the $$, the work, and feel like an idiot for trusting them.

Hope everyone is doing well...
