What are your top five workout songs playing on your ipod at the moment?

Neyo- Closer
Flo rida- elevator
Chris Brown- Forever
Kanye West- homecoming
Timbaland and J. Timberlake - Release

Hip hoppy stuff always makes me wanna dance/move in general! :carrot:

What are your top five?

07-29-2008, 03:03 PM
I couldn't survive without listening to my ipod when I walk. I listen to audio books and podcasts. Right now I'm listening to Pillars of the Earth. It's 40 hours long and an awesome book and my rule is that I can only listen to it when I walk. If I don't walk for a few days I get itchy cause I want to know what's going to happen next.

07-29-2008, 03:22 PM
I've been doing podcasts when I'm at home on my exercise machine (mostly NPR "This American Life" or "Science Fridays" -- I'm a dork), and music when I'm out walking. I don't know why, but that's what I do! I just made a playlist for walking -- it's got 37 songs on it! Ha! Right now, 5 songs that get my booty shaking are...

"What's the Altitude" by Cut Chemist
"Mouthwash" by Kate Nash
"Toxic" by Britney Spears (I know! I know! Poor Britney. But this song makes me move!)
"The Underdog" by Spoon
"I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor" by Artic Monkeys

Great thread!

I have a running playlist - songs that are the perfect tempo for jogging at 5 or 6 mph. My top five of the moment (and this changes a LOT ) are:

1. Sour Cherry - The Kills
2. I Want to Save You - Something Corporate
3. Lose Yourself - Eminem
4. Girl Like That - Matchbox Twenty
5. Sk8er Boi - Avril Lavigne (this song is kind of annoying, but the beat is perfect)

07-29-2008, 03:32 PM
Ya know, interestingly enough, sometimes I don't need high energy, hip hop, rock your body music to get going. (usually, yes though) but sometimes slow, soothing relaxing music keeps me focused, concentrated and centered. So sometimes I go Jewel, Sarah McLaughlin, that route. Anyone else?

07-29-2008, 05:04 PM
i have a huge mix of music on mine...

1. Days go by - Keith Urban
2. Livin on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
3. Save the Last Dance - Michael Buble
4. Come Fly with Me - Frank Sinatra
5. Burning Love - Elvis

07-29-2008, 05:08 PM
I've got serious Ipod ADD....my favorites change a lot, and I get bored quickly. But the ones that get me going right now are...

1) Switch - Will Smith
2) All I Want to Do - Sugarland
3) Work It - Nelly w/Justin Timberlake
4) That Song in My Head - Julianne Hough
5) In Love with a Girl - Gavin DeGraw

I love this! My Ipod is the thing that keeps me going to the gym! I usually do podcasts...sports podcasts, PTI and ATH. But when I do the treadmill I listen to a lot. Right now my top five are:

When I grow up- the pussycat dolls
I'm Shakin-Rooney
If I never see your face again-Maroon 5 ft Rihanna
Believe- The Bravery
Damaged-Danity Kane

I Heart Diet Coke
07-29-2008, 10:02 PM
It seems mine are always changing but here are a few that I love:

Stronger - Kanye West
Toy Soldier - Britney Spears (actually anything from her "Blackout" album is great!)
Damaged - Danity Kane
Low - Flo Rida
None of your business - Salt n peppa

again these are just a few :)

07-30-2008, 12:54 AM
Pump Up the Jam - Technotronic
Gonna Make You Sweat - C&C Music Factory
Clubbed to Death - Rob D
Walk - Pantera

and...I know, this is odd...

The Twist - (newer version by) Chubby Checker and The Fat Boys

Why so many different music styles? They all have good beats. :D

07-30-2008, 01:19 AM
My top 5 are:

Crazy B*tch - BuckCherry
Twisted Transistor - Korn
Your Love is a Lie - Simple Plan
Fake It - Seether
Riot - Three Days Grace

:) I like angry music when I'm working out lol

07-30-2008, 07:39 AM
I like like a nice mix of strong beats. Kanye is just for fun. :)

Kanye West - Workout plan
Mason vs. Princess Superstar - Perfect Exceeder (Best lyrics: "Watch me work it, I'm perfect!")
Ida Corr Vs Fedde Le Grand - Let Me Think About It
Janet Jackson ft Khia - So Excited (Bimbo Jones Club Remix)
Maroon 5 (Feat. Rihanna) - If I Never See Your Face Again
Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme
Bodyrockers - I Like The Way You Move

Perfect Exceeder and Let me think about it are the songs that the intro music to the 2007 Victoria's Secret show was mixed together from. Incidentally Bodyrockers was in the soundtrack the year before that. They always have some good energetic music in the VS show.

Classic good sounds. :)

07-30-2008, 10:53 AM
I usually listen to mindless pop or techno while working out to try to keep in time with the fast beat.

One song I love to warm up to is "Vibrasom" by Sabrina Malheiros. She's a Brazilian artist and the lyrics are all in Portuguese. I minored in Portuguese so I understand most of what she's saying but the music is great...kind of funky and hip-hoppy. It has a good pace for a warmup walk on the treadmill. I recommend it! Another great song from that same album (Equilibria) is "Passa". Most of the others are too down-tempo to work out to.

A great album I found several years ago is Solar Twins (name of band and album). It's mindless techno with a little trip built in; it's the kind of music that makes you speed if you listen to it in your car. It's great for when I'm on the elliptical though. It's very challenging to try to keep pace with the fast ones. They did a great cover of "Rock The Casbah" that I just love even though it's uber-cheesy.

Some of my other workout faves:

"Sublime" by Supreme Beings of Leisure
"Strict Machine" by Goldfrapp
"Pacific State" by 808 State (an oldie but goodie)
"Addicted" by Amy Winehouse
"Why Can't You Free Some Time" by Armand Van Helden
"Star Guitar" by Chemical Brothers
"Cybersitar" by Dance Music Federation (yep, techno with a sitar)

A lot of them are pretty cheesy and things I wouldn't normally admit to having on my iPod, but they really help me when I'm working out. :dizzy:

07-30-2008, 06:41 PM
I just got a nano last week for my b-day and I've been downloading like crazy. My playlist is more about singing and keeping my mind off watching the time on the treadmill. So some Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, JLo, 50 Cent, Bowwow, MJ Blige, Keyshia Cole, Nickelback, Def Leppard, Guns n Roses, Rick Springfield, Bon Jovi, Scandal, No Doubt, Lil Kim, etc.....

07-30-2008, 10:12 PM
One Night in Bangkok - VinylShakerz (dance remix of the 80's song)
Please Don't Stop the Music - Rihanna
Can't Believe a Single Word - VHS or Beta
The Longest Road - Morgan Page
Mercy - Duffy
Love Bites - QED

09-23-2008, 05:56 PM
New ones....

"So What" by Pink
"One Step at a Time" by Jordin Sparks

09-23-2008, 06:06 PM
Ya know, interestingly enough, sometimes I don't need high energy, hip hop, rock your body music to get going. (usually, yes though) but sometimes slow, soothing relaxing music keeps me focused, concentrated and centered. So sometimes I go Jewel, Sarah McLaughlin, that route. Anyone else?

I'm totally the same way Michelle. Sometimes all I need is to zone out to the peaceful music while on the elliptical.

Here are my top 5 as of right now.

Kelly Clarkson "Walk Away"
Something Corporate "Hurricane"
Brandi Carlile "My Song" (this song gets me all worked up for some reason!)
Jimmy Eat World "Pain"
ColdPlay "Lost"

09-23-2008, 06:17 PM

1. Standing outside the fire by Garth Brooks
2. What a feeling by Irene Cara (the flashdance song)
3. Here I go Again by Whitesnake
4. Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses
5. The Middle by Jimmy Eat World

They definitley vary genres! But I can listen to just about anything...This is a great board, there are some songs on here that I am definitely downloading soon!

I see the last post in this thread was a while ago, so I thought I would add my current workout playlist incase anyone is looking to shake-up their workout music.

Let me say first, I am pretty particular with my music likes as I prefer alternative, rock, and some punk... But when it comes to working out, I really need to mix in some funky beats and music that makes me feel sexy (This Body by Janet Jackson is last because it is quite slow beat-wise, but it is hot and plays at the end of my workout when I feel my best and thinnest)... So here is my 60-minute playlist from warm-up to cool down.

Pour Some Sugar on Me__Def Leppard
SexyBack __Justin Timberlake
Supermassive Black Hole__Muse
My Love (feat. T.I.)__Justin Timberlake
Smells Like Teen Spirit__Nirvana
Sweet Child O' Mine__Guns N' Roses
Sweet Home Alabama__Lynyrd Skynyrd
Rock Your Body__Justin Timberlake
I Would Die 4 U__Prince
The Pleasure Principle__Janet Jackson
Livin' on a Prayer__Bon Jovi
Gold Digger (feat. Jamie Foxx)__Kanye West
This Body__Janet Jackson

01-14-2009, 08:06 AM
Sandstorm- Darude
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger- Daft Punk
Word Disassociation- Lemon Demon
Bad Idea- Lemon Demon

The first two are of a category that I really wish I had more of, like techno except that I can stand to listen to them and they are, in fact, really fantastic exercise songs to which I can listen a couple of times and will if I find the next song on shuffle disappointing. The third isn't available on iTunes, but you can download it and the fourth at www.lemondemon.com. Out of those two, the third I like primarily because I find the lyrics so entertaining that they keep my mind off running (Another good one like this by Lemon Demon is Ben Bernanke). They are essentially a series of random words, but the bridge, where he whispers softly and creepily "One sunlight stocking chimney sweep eleven hatred earmuff okay, rapscallion, my elusive yellow sketching creamy helium, gentlemanly communique" always makes me smile. My one problem with this song is that I always feel the need to at least mouth along, which screws up my breathing, and then I get cramps. The fourth is nice because, as songs go, it just has a ton of energy and electronic-y sounds. That and it's about overcoming impossible odds to survive a zombie attack, and commiserates with my feelings 30 minutes into a run with a whiny, despairing "Maybe this was a bad idea, oh nooo".

01-14-2009, 12:20 PM

Know what?!? I have no shame... my favorite up-and-at-em music right now is any of the older Michael jackson stuff. I mean come on... let's see: Thriller, Billie Jean, Jam, Don't Stop til you Get Enough, Blame it on the Boogie, Speed Demon, etc, etc, etc... the list just goes on forever. I listen to all of his stuff up through Dangerous and then I kinda lose zeal for it. What's funny is, My 12 year old niece was listening to his stuff one day, she loves his music, and I suddenly remembered the awesomeness. You know, I'd say crotch grabbing and strange fetishes aside, the man was always a genius when it came to pop.

I am having MAJOR IPOD issues. This is my 2nd, yes 2nd IPOD in six months to have the same exact thing happen.

When I go to charge my IPOD in the computer port it appears it is charging. The light blinks yellow and eventually green. Typically, I allow it to charge overnite. The next morning the light is green and I unplug it from the port BUT no sound is coming out! This is the 2nd IPOD I have purchased and wonder if it's something I am doing rather than the product itself.

I called APPLE last night and after going through a thousand procedures he tells me it has to be repaired at a store by appointment only.

Does anyone else have this problem or have any clue what to do?

02-21-2009, 05:07 AM
Thighs Be Gone- I've had 6 ipods over the past few years- i keep sending it back to them and they keep fixing it. That's really all I can recommend! They're usually quite quick.

Great thread! Right now I really love:

- Lovelockdown and Heartless by Kanye West
- Poker Face and Just Dance by Lady GaGa
- Circus by Britney

I found a great song that played in a spin class I was in last week - Sabre Dance by Vanessa Mae. She's a classical violinist and this clip only gives you the first few seconds - but it was an amazing song to do a hill climb to so I downloaded the mp3. http://www.amazon.com/Choreography/dp/B0002TB6G6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1235541439&sr=8-2 I have no other classical music on my ipod.

I found a great song that played in a spin class I was in last week - Sabre Dance by Vanessa Mae. I have no other classical music on my ipod.
