40-Somethings - I'm back (with head hanging low)
07-29-2008, 12:26 PM
I'm a 42 year old Mom with about 20 pounds that I'd like to be rid of.
I hung out on 3FC last fall (mainly Featherweights and Support forums), and managed to shed 12 pounds. Then I got cute and figured it could go it alone. Well, 5 of those 12 crept back on over the winter/spring, and another 5 hit me like a ton of bricks (literally!) over the course of our summer holidays. I'm so annoyed at myself, but trying to not get stuck in that negative mindset. I know I have to feel the love in order to successfully shed those pounds. That will get easier as I have some success, but right now I'm just mad.
I'm planning to do calorie counting, with Bob Greene's Best Life Diet principles tucked in around that.
In a positive light - at least you have done it before and know you can do it again! This time you just need to work on maintenance. You'll do it! Welcome back

The important part is that you're back! I am new to 3fc, but I have also
been on the see-saw weight scale. With 60 lbs of me to lose, it's
going to take awhile, but as long as the progress is there, you know
you're doing something right!:)

We all have setbacks... as you can see from my ticker, I'm back to where I started after losing 13 pounds. Oh well, here we go again, I guess. So, you're not alone!

Thanks everyone. It's too easy to beat ourselves up for gaining a little weight - we treat others more kindly than we treat ourselves in that respect, don't we? After all, it's not like any of us are killing people or hurting puppies, is it? We just gained some weight - no great crime against humanity. But we get SO down on ourselves for it. Now when I screw up, before I get too down on myself, I tend to think "What would someone on 3FC say to me?", or "What would I say to someone on 3FC?", and adopt that kind of attitude.

If you're back that means you are trying, and if you are trying, then hold your head up, don't hang your head low !!

Janie, Welcome back. You can do this and we're here to help!!
Hey Janie - Fellow Canuk here in the exact same boat....actually it is a worse boat.
Long story short - I started in Nov 05 - lost 40lbs by Aug 06 - felt great - vowed I would never regain.....gained 10 - broke my leg...became inactive...gained 10 more.
Ugh - so back to almost square one.
I have a new game plan - putting it into action starting tomorrow (have to shop for food today).
I have been lurking around featherweights/maintainers but think I will hang out here for a while.
Look forward to getting to know you all.
