Good morning everyone! I just couldn't bring myself to post yesterday because I was up 2 pounds!! I guess it was water weight (most likely due to my binge on mexican food) but I'm back down to where I was. I think that is what is so frustrating about weighing everyday because my weight can fluctuate like crazy!
Malisa, thanks for the info from the doctor. That's quite an eye opener for me about the calcium. I am not much of a milk drinker, and considering I am only 5'3'' I can't afford to shrink much!:o Guess I'll start taking those supplements. I try to take vitamins on a daily basis but I have to admit that I'm not very consistent.
Well, I've got to get to work! Talk to everyone later and have a good day!

:) Good Morning all!
I didn't post yesterday as I was feeling pretty discouraged, at the scale still showing NO loss; I am the same weight as I was TWO weeks ago. I know my problem is feeling so hungry for the evening meal, even with my allotted snacks during the day. It's so hard for me to stop eating at the one dinner portion, as I still feel hungry at the time. I know of the "20 minute delay" that our brains don't get the signal that we've eaten until 20 minutes after the food's in the tummy. I just have to work on this somehow.
However, I shall keep at this , as it is long-term and I guess I am just a slow loser! I do feel increased strength in my arms, and abs from the exercising. Hoo-ray for that. :) And just experiencing the looseness in the jeans will keep me going.
Thanks for starting the new thread, Nancy! Boy, we sure do fill up quickly. And check out the number of views! What a popular bunch we are! (hee hee)
Thanks for sharing the info from the doctor, Melisa! She sounds like a wonderful doctor. That is kinda scary about shrinking, isn't it. What a drag to have to schedule taking vitamins, so they don't interfere with other stuff. I know I've read that caffeine also inhibits iron absorption. I've started taking a multi-vitamin, with iron. I love skim milk and fat-free yogurt, so I guess I don't have a problem with enough calcium. Oh yeah - weight-bearing exercise, even walking, builds bone density - which we all need to think about for the future (so we're not fragile, little old ladies! :D )
Pamela - glad to hear you're feeling much better, I laughed out loud at your description of your son's morning state of un-clothed-ness!
Hello also to Christine, Sprite (did you get a new swimsuit?), KellyAnne, Jacklyn (count-down to Cancun!), and Kanola! Hope you are all smiling and having a great day!
Alright, one last "poor me" rant - I also need to work on/accept that my husband is not in a "losing" mode - while he eats healthy foods (meaning we just don't have any junk food in the house) he has really too large portions, and eats throughout the day; which is making it more difficult for me to try to NOT think about food all the time! Okay, there is my whining/self-pity for the week. I just have to overcome it
:?: somehow.
Thanks for listening, ladies !(well, you really had no choice - my captive audience!  )ha ha

Also, for those who are doing toning exercises - under the "Exercise" forum, check out on page two, "Ab Support Group", the post from Step. She has wonderful, detailed instructions on specific exercises like crunches, which I am going to try today after I get warmed up.

Hi all-- Holly, I knew you didn't forget me! Have you tried drinking something before you sit down to dinner? I KNOW it SHOULD be water, but I often have a big glass of diet soda while I'm cooking dinner. That seems to help with the "starving" feeling. I also munch on carrots while I'm cooking. It keeps me from "tasting." I can do a lot of damage while I'm trying to get dinner on the table! If I'm really hungry when I get home, I often make a cup of boullion. I know it's salty, but it does the trick for me.
OK, I need help on this one--my dh wants Easter dinner in the afternoon! I am really afraid of over eating in the afternoon and then I know I'm just going to want something again at dinner time. In the past, I've tried to just "swap" the meals, but my usual lunch at dinner time just doesn't cut it. Any ideas??
Well, have a great day everyone!

Hi Ladies!
:ink: I have been pigging out today! My son has the flu and I had to cancel all my plans for the day. Soooo I was stuck in the house all day ended up making peanut butter fudge and eating Bugles :o HELP!
Well I'll just have to straighten myself out now and go on. It seems like 2 steps forward, one step back. I feel like you Christine, in order to keep off a pound I have to lose it about 4 or 5 times! Very frustrating!

Hi guys,
Hang in there guys! You've come so far, don't be discouraged by a little set back. A few/lot of bugles or a pig out day isn't going to kill you. Just get back on track. The warm weather is going to be here soon and we'll all get a chance to get out and do more physical things. I too can't wait to go bike riding (OMG did I just say that?) I want to see if I can bike the path without passing out on the ground like I did last year. I agree with whoever said body type/shape has a lot ot do with measurements. When I reach 150 I'll probably make a visit with my Dr and see what she has to say. Well I'm off to step class. I'm raising my step tonight. I think I'm ready. I hope I'm ready.

Boy oh boy there must be something in the air, as I feel like I could just go on a huge old binge!!!!!
When I was at the store today, I swear I was being followed by little chocalate bunnies !!!!! Talk about scary !!! WOO
Today has been such a struggle, but so far I have made it through.
Well ladies,,, we all seem to be feeling the same way,,
We can get through this , we will be strong :strong:

 Hi everybody! (like Dr. Nick says)
Good morning! Hope everyone is smilin' and on track.
Nancy - I know what you mean about those bunnies following you...they're everywhere! And their li'l candy eyes follow you...well, they're not going to get me (I hope). Here's to a strong day to us!
Jacklyn - I don't think I could bear weighing myself everyday, what with those crazy water weight fluctuations. Hope you're doing well.
tryin' hard - thanks for the suggestion on trying to curb my hungries before dinner. First, I had even more water (we're all floating, aren't we) and I did try a can of diet Pepsi, and then munched on carrots. It helped! Thanks!
I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest for your evening Easter meal - can you have something unusual, like maybe what one would have for breakfast; some cereal, or toast, and fruit/yogurt?
Sprite - sorry to hear your son has the flu! Maybe that's what you were fighting off the other day. If you have any p.b. fudge left...throw it out!
As far as feeling two steps ahead, one back; well, you're still one step ahead! You've done SO well - wasn't it like 33 pounds in six months?! That's incredible (and I'm limping along at measly 8 pounds in two months). So, pat yourself for doing so well, and keep on doing it!
Melisa - Yes, I'm so looking forward to warmer, dry weather outside. I have to get re-coordinated to ride my bike. Is your bike path long? Have hills?
To everyone else, have a great day! I'm psyched because even though my husband isn't trying to lose with me, he's always been very supportive, and he bought and assembled a stepper! It kinda dominates our teeny living room - and I have to be careful that the ceiling fan isn't on, or I'll decapitate myself (or at least get my hair tangled in the fan - ow) but it's a great change from my now-boring aerobic tape. I put on some techno-dance music and really got sweaty for 25 minutes.
And this afternoon I'm going to donate blood (I try to every two months); hey, shouldn't I weigh a pound less after donating a pint of blood? :dizzy:
LET'S ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Slow-losin' Holly :D

Hello all.....
Its snowing here....do you believe it.... ?? I am about to go over edge with this weather. I do believe this is a true test of my sanity. I know spring has be somewhere,,,,but it certainly isnt here.
Holly~~~~ That is good that you have a stepper to help you.. but do be careful with that ceiling fan,,you sure dont want to get your hair caught in that. You would be spinning around like a Las Vegas show girl :lol:
I have decided that I am not going to weigh myself every week. I think I will do it on the 15th of the month every month. I agree with Holly,, those flucuations with water really can get to ya. My hubby got on the scale today and it shows he is up 2 pounds... Now he is bummed...But I told him that is more then likely the water thing.
I do hope we all make it through this weekend and the chocalate bunnies dont continue to stalk us!!!!!!!
Well I am off to finish laundry and then to Subway for lunch...
see everyone later.....
Have a great day!!!

Hi, everyone!
I read everything I can get my hands on about dieting and I read something recently that I have never heard of before. In part:
"Undiluted solid foods will be more completely and more rapidly digested. The stomach no longer feels heavy but retails its vitality and elasticity thereby increasing the effectiveness of gastric juices. If you drink water while you eat, those juices are diluted and their effectiveness diminished.
Water absorbed alone without solid foods retains all of it's qualities. It drains the body cells easily, particularly the kidney cells where wastes accumulates.
The proper way to benefit from water is to drink regularly throughout the day, then stop an hour before meals."
Personally, I have always had a lot to drink WITH my meals. I did try this for a couple days and found that I got fuller quicker when I did eat my meals. Just an idea!
Carolyn:)

Sorry for not being online sooner! We are a day ahead here in Aus so I am over the 'Good Friday' part of the weekend and all is going well. Everything was closed here on Friday, even Safeway !! I went to the gym after work on Thursday, did an hour of cardio and some weight work and was bored yesterday! The gym was also closed!! So I dug out my Yoga Dvd's and did them all.... 2 hours of stretching felt great! Today I did a weight lifting class and some cardio and I am going to kill those damn chocolate bunnies and smash those chocolate eggs!
I think I offended one of the directors at work who was handing out 1 Kilo (2.2 pounds) chocolate eggs at work for all the staff. I said NO! I don't want one!! I could see it now, me in the weakened state caught with chocolate all over my face.... desperately trying to finish the whole kilo of chocolate.... :( That was a strong move eh? I felt bad for a bit afterwards, because he made a big deal out of it... but that is not my problem.... anyways.
How is everyone doing? I have a bbq tomorrow and have decided to take along some lamb burgers and chicken for meat and a huge green salad. I might even sneak in a vodka drink or two... see how I feel because Monday is my hubby's nephew's b-day so there will be cake.... yum. Must keep focused!
Well I am off, my reward this week for working so hard is that I am FINALLY going to see the Lord of the Rings... a bit late I know, but I want to see it at the theatre before it closes and that is coming soon since they don't start showing it until 9 pm now! Good thing daylight savings ends tonight? North America begins theirs soon right?
Nancy... wow that is a HUGE step for you! The snow will end eventually I am sure... my mom was cursing the winter when I spoke to her today! Hang in there..... it will go away soon and when you are having those long, sunshine until midnight summer days those cold windy days will be a distant memory!
Take care everyone, get back on track after the binges and keep focused!! We will all reach our goals!!!

:) Good Morning everyone!
Happy Saturday! Kanola, hooray to you for refusing the huge chocolate egg. That took alot of willpower. And what a work-out you did!
As I have identified that I tend to "slip up" on weekends (the change of routine?) I shall do my best to stay on track eating-wise. We went out to dinner last night for the 1st time in 6 weeks; and I had a huge green salad with grilled chicken breast, half a small roll, veggies and (I counted!) 8 french fries. And no dessert! 'Cause at home we had sugar-free pudding made with skim milk, and a little fat-free Cool Whip.
I had a little drama at the blood donation - even though I was full of water (two liters) and had eaten lightly two hours before, I still got light-headed and had to be trundled off behind a curtain to "recover". How embarrassing! But giving blood has it's advantages (of course, beside the philanthripic aspect), as you get your blood pressure taken and recorded (I was 122/80: okay, I think) and my iron count is good - probably thanks to the multi-vitamin with iron that I take.
Since I have this stepper parked in my living room I should take full advantage of it - now an exercise question - should I step up (haha) my cardio to every day to accelerate the weight loss? How many minutes do you all for a cardio session?
That's it for now - also going to take my dog for her rabies shot this afternoon - she is an Alaskan husky, and the furriest creature in existence - the car's going to be a mess. Oh well :dizzy:
HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!!!

Good morning everyone! OK, OK I'll have to admit that I have not been doing so well lately. Last night we went out and had Chinese...alot of Chinese. My husband and I have been trying so hard to lose weight lately, since we are leaving in 2 days for our vacation. When trying to decide what to eat last night, hubby rationalized it by saying...Hey, we leave in 2 days, what difference will a little binge make now?? So of course we went.
I'll go ahead and tell everyone my plan. We are staying at a place that is all inclusive with bars and buffets everywhere. I am going ahead and giving myself full permission to eat and drink what ever I want during that week. I know that is not the best but I figure why not go ahead and say its okay, rather than attempt to stay on my diet and then blow it....then spend another month regretting it and becoming angry at myself for it. It seems that when I do that, I give up on myself easier, and end up gaining what I've tried so hard to lose.
My biggest fear is that when I get back, its going to be hard to get back into the swing of things. So I am going to go ahead and prepare you guys because I am going to need your help!! :^:
Anyways, I've got to get busy, doing some shopping and cleaning up the house before we go. Everyone have a great day!!:)
I'll try to check in later this afternoon.

Oh boy. The last time you all had these binge feelings I was fine until the following week then it was my turn. I'm going to try and get prepared. Anyone have any suggestions? lol. I have been ok with the Easter candy. I haven't bought my kids any yet. They don't eat it anyway. Tonight I'll just get them a small bunny and a plastic egg with some cash in it. They are 10 and 13. I don't think they'll be disappointed. They want extra spending money for Disney. I try to avoid that dreaded seasonal ailse at the stores. A few customers have brought us some baked goods. I just pass them down the line. They end up on the back counter where I can't see them. Out of sight out of mind. I think I'll be ok tomorrow. They way my Mother -in-Law has holiday dinners is in courses. We start off with pickled peppers, provolone cheese and Italian ham (proscuitto) which is sliced paper thin so I can have a piece without feeling guilty. Then we have soup. Then we have the main course. By this time, you'er pretty full. She does buy a lean ham and makes a variety of veggies. Her mashed potatoes aren't that good (to me anyway) so I usually don't have any. The only killer part is all the desserts. Somebody always brings a cheesecake, I'll be sure to stay away from that. Chocolate pie, apple pie, rice pie, cookies. They are all so good. Then there's all the alcohol. Beer, wine, White Russians. Uh oh maybe I won't be ok tomorrow. My plan is no alcohol. A bite of my husbands and kids desserts. We'll see what happens. I hope all of us can stick with whatever plan we have. We can do it. We've come a long way. We don't need to make glutons of ourselves right?
Someone asked how long we do cardio routines each week. I do 4 classes 1 hr long each. Each class probably has 30 minutes high impact aerobics, 15 minutes weight training and 15 minutes stretching, warm up and cool down. I just noticed Thurs. that I needed to buy new sneakers. My feet must have lost weight and my shoes are too loose. I injured my right foot. I think it's from my feet sliding around inside my sneaker so much. It's not a major injury. It just feels like I dropped something on top of my foot. I can still wear them for walking around, but not to do aerobics.
On a happy note, I'm down another lb and a half.
Happy Easter to all,
Melisa
Jackyln,
I bet you do just fine on your vacation. I'm sure you'll eat more and drink more than you usually do, but if you make wiser choices that won't be so bad. I'm also sure that you'll get more physical activity in than you usually do too. You can count on us to help you get back on track when you get back. Have a great time!

Hello everyone:)
Just a quick note before I'm off! My husband and I will be leaving around 4:00 in the morning to go to the airport so this will be my last post for a while.
I hope everyone has a great week! As stated before I am not planning on depriving myself but I will try to keep it under control. The good news is that I tried on bathing suits yesterday and it wasn't too bad!! I'm even bringing a couple of 2 pieces!:o
It's nice to see that all of the hard work has paid off...although I'm far from being through. :p It's so funny because I've always been so paranoid in a swim suit, especially a bikini....now I'm actually wearing them in public...my husband even prefers my bikinis over the one piece ones!!
I cant remember who was looking for a tankini but I will say that they are wonderful. I also have some of those. My favorite is one made by Nautica. Its rather sporty, but its made of a rather tight fitting type of spandex that sucks you in, in all the right places. Also like I said its sporty so you can get out in the water, ride the waves and not worry about it slipping up or down and exposing yourself.:o
Anyways I've babbled enough..can you tell I'm excited??:D Like I said everyone have a wonderful week, I will be back next Monday. Most likely desperate to get back on track. And I will need HELP!! Talk to you all later!!!
183/145/135 first goal....I've decided to try to reach this by May 15...maybe setting a date will really get me moving!!

Happy first day of April...
Bon voyage, Jacklyn! That is so great that you have lost enough and worked hard enough to feel confident in your bikini!!! Have a great time, and we will be here to help you, if needed when you get back, all tan and happy!
Hi Nancy - do you think feeling in a slump can be related to our northern position and the SNOW that is still hanging around? I know "it comes with the territory" but winter just drags on forever, it seems. Won't we be doing the happy dance when we can get outside in tee shirts and shorts!!!
How was everyone's Easter? I was very happy when my brother's girlfriend asked if I had lost weight since she saw me last - boy, that sure helps in the positive reinforcement!! I certainly ate more calories than usual, but nothing horrendous. And I did my hour-long Step and Tone tape in the morning; then another 15 minutes on the stepper in the evening. Back to being on track today. :)
I'm going to do my cardio now - I see that I should aim for at least 30 minutes, and any longer is better. And I'm being careful keeping away from that ceiling fan, to not imitate any Las Vegas showgirl twirling!
Have a great day, everyone!!!!
Holly - going to keep off the scale for a while; going to measure with tape measure in a week or so (fingers crossed!)

Hello all :)
Hope everyone's easter went okay.. I wasn't very careful because it was my last day before Body for Life.
Soooo.. today, is my first day on BFL. So far so good. Its not even 11am and I've already had 2 meals, which is unusual for me but I'm supposed to eat 6 meals a day so my plan is: 8am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 6:30pm, 9:30pm (or approximately those times).
Tonight I do my first weight workout, upper body. This should be interesting, as I don't have a weight bench yet, only the weights. I really need to go get a bench!!
I'll keep you all up to date on how I'm doing!

Dont cha just hate it when you write a really long post and it dissapears???????????? Well that just happened to me....where does the posting go??????????
Today starts a new week, a new month and a whole new outlook on losing weight. I have decided to only weigh once a month. I will not be a slave to the scale. I will judge my success by the way my clothes feel. I will stay positive and motivated. I will get more exercise, drink more water and I will get to goal!!!!!!!
I should write that down and post that on the fridge ya think???
Holly~~~ You should be feeling wonderful that your brothers girlfriend noticed your weight loss!!! You may not be able to see it your self, but others can. That will keep you motivated and determined to continue towards your goal. And with all the exercising you are doing, you will be out there shopping for a new swimsuit also!!! :)
Christine~~~ Here is to great success on your BFL plan. Make sure to take before pictures so you can see your transformation. Soon you will have that Shania Twain bod for sure!!!!
Do you have to eat certain things ? Is it mostly protein?
Has anyone ever tried the Soy milk? My sister in law drinks it all the time. She is on the Protein Power Plan and that plan calls for it. I heard that Soy milk is something that aging old women like me should be taking when they are close to their menopausal years. What do you all think?
So where is everybody else at?? Hope to see everyone posting soon....
Well I am off for a walk..... got to get healthy.......

Hello again ...
Nancy, glad to hear you with a more positive attitude again!
Body for Life eating is a little higher protein but not like Protein Power. The split is approximately 40% protein.. 40% carb.. 20% fat. I believe most protein diets have much lower carb counts and somewhat higher fat. They don't emphasize counting your grams or calories though. You eat 6 mini-meals a day and at each meal you have a serving of carb (fist size) and a serving of protein (palm size) and veggies with at least 2 meals (they're pretty much all you can eat). You also try to stay away from simple carbs and high-fat proteins. Its a very basic way of eating. The best part is, one day a week you get a free day where you can fill all those cravings ;-) LOL
I've never tried soy milk.. new foods scare me *laugh* but I've heard some soy is good for women. Then, I've also heard too much soy is unhealthy. But doesn't it work that way with most things in the health industry? They just can't make up their mind!!
I'm going to try to take some before photos asap but I dunno what to wear for them. All the BFL pics I see women are wearing a bikini or very small workout clothing. I do not have such things as I prefer to keep the body hidden still. I'll have to figure it out .. hehe

Hi everybody!
Just to let you know Aphil replied to my Email. She says to let everyone know she will be back in a couple of weeks. She is really busy with work and the kids being sick , etc.
The Easter bunnies got to me. Up a pound this week. But determined to get if off again.
Christine good luck with your BFL challenge. I have heard great things about it and actually read the book but have not done it myself. Yet.
Nancy hope your new approach works i.e. weighing once a month. Smart idea. I have a heard time staying away from the scale.
Went for a super long walk today and my feet are killing me but I feel great that I've done something to counteract those little chocolate eggs!

Hey everyone!! I am back after a bad day and not so bad day! On Easter Sunday I lost all resolve, it started with 4 golden easter eggs that were scattered around the house. What a funny guy I am married to! I did share them, he ate the other 4! And a pack of biscuits I have a hard time saying no to. If you are ever in Australia, you will quickly find out that their chocolate is superior to anything in North America and they have the BEST cookies (called biscuits here). I also shared my Tim Tams (the evil cookies) with Hubby and by mid morning I had the sick in the tummy feeling from too much chocolate! I headed out the door to the gym for some cardio and weights but was still craving bad food. At that point, I decided that it was going to be a bad food day for me since I had already planned on having a couple of drinks at a BBQ that night. Chicken burger from the fish and chip shop, steak at the BBQ, a couple of Mike’s Hard Lemonade (a Canadian drink that we found here!! Woo hooo!!) and even ice cream for dessert. I was stuffed!! It felt too good to have some normal food and I was back at the Gym for more cardio and weights on Monday and today I did not gain! I will have to work harder this week and get another pound or two off!!
Nancy, I drink Soy milk every single day and have almost weaned myself from regular milk. I have a Slimfast smoothie in the morning and drink it in that and then if I have cereal I will mix soy and skim milk together. I still can’t drink it in tea yet…. But I am working on it. Once you start drinking it, you will get used to it. It took me 3 months to go from 2% milk to skim milk! Give it a try …… you might like it! I also use Tofu in smoothies as well and have started experimenting with recipes with Tofu in it.
Christine, how is BFL going? Is everyone back on track after a good ol’ binge and pig out weekend? I am off to the gym for a step class again tonight. I hope this time I can walk the next day, I almost cried last week!! Keep up the good work everyone!

Nancy, I am so proud of you for saying what I've been thinking--only weighing in once a month. The fluctuations are so unpredictable and it is so easy to get discouraged. I think I will do the same--I'm going to weigh myself about 5 days after my TOM is over.
One of the greatest things I've been reading on this thread is how good you guys are about dusting yourself off and getting right back on track after a not-so-good day! But, if you think about it, that is how "thin" people act. My dh ate whatever he wanted on Easter, and the next day, he was back to his oatmeal and yogurt.
Well, I hope you all have a great day. It's a beautiful morning here in the northeast and it promises to be a nice day!

You posted a thread "Doing it the old fashion way".............what is that? Are you counting calories or what? Just curious? And how are you doing?

Hello JoAnn...
As far as I understand, "doing it the oldfashioned way" is meant to include calorie counting, Weight watchers point counting, Richard simmons program as well as other similar ways. :)
Me, I'm currently on a break from calorie-counting to try out the Body for Life program but I'm sticking around here anyways cuz these gals are great for motivation!
Feel free to stick around and join in...

I survived Easter, yay! LOL. We went to Iowa on Thursday night and returned yesterday. My mil is a fabulous cook, made us lasagna. We kept pretty active. Went bowling Fri night (my 19 month old got 2 spares, LOL) and we might start making that a regular family thing since ds got so into it. Walked to the playground and around the block on Saturday. Chased the kids and did an egg hunt (and a short walk) on Sunday. I ate whatever, but I'm pmsing and having those whacked out dreams again which seem to burn a lot of calories. The scale said 160-161 (down from 163-165 previously). I got sick yesterday, but the travelling eating takes a toll on me. I sent dh to work with all his candy and kept ds's egg candy (not too appealing, might end up with dh) and my Peeps which are hard already and might just go in the trash.
We have about 10 inches of snow here. It's April, right? Might shovel later for cardio/strength training. I'm ready to eat right and work out again. I'm almost over my cold although ds seems sicker then he did before. *sigh* It'll be warm soon, right?

Hello everyone...
Welcome JoAnn~~~ Glad to have you here. Like Christine mentioned, we are counting calories or ww points or anything that is livable, doable(is that a word) and will help us achieve our goal. I do the calorie counting. I find it is workng fine for me. I use my calories wisely though. I try to balance everything out. I dont like to use my calories on the junk stuff. I figure if I did that I would only be defeating my purpose and not learning anything. I dont think of this as a short term plan. I think of it as my way of life. This will be a forever thing with me. I hope that you will join us and post often.
Christine~~~ Even though you are doing the BFL plan.We will never let you leave.... You are a big part of this group and we are behind you 100%. How was the first day?
Pamela ~~~That is wonderful that you are down pounds!!! I bet you are feeling good about that. Soon you will be in the 150's and doing the happy dance.:jig:
Sure hope your cold passes and that you are feeling better soon.
tryin'hard~~~ I think by weighing once a month may be a good thing for awhile. I agree with you that those flucuations can be depressing and enough to send one into a eating frenzy!!!
But I am with you I sure wont weigh until that TOM is long gone.
Sprite~~~ Glad you heard back from Aphil, isnt she the one who started this thread? I know when I first started reading posts she was a great motivator for me.
Dont worry about that pound,, it is more then likely one of those water flucuations. I seriously don't believe that every time we eat something that we normally wouldn't that we will gain weight from it. I dont see how that could be possible. If that was the case we would have to live on celery and water....
Kanola ~~~ Glad that you had a great work out and did not gain. That is so great !!
I will give the Soy milk a try, but hopefully I can buy it in a small amount (just in case it has to go down the drain) remember those Black beans I tried a few weeks back?? Well those things were awful..YUCK...:eek:does anyone like them? I sure hope the Soy milk isnt like that .
Holly ~~~ How are you? I hope you are having a perfect day!
Ok we all know that Jacklyn is basking on the sunny beaches of Cancun, but where is Melisa and KellyAnne ??? Hope they come back soon....
Ok ladies,,, have a great day, stay strong:strong: and keep smiling :) :) :)
See everyone later..

Hi All!! I just want to give my 5 cents (no pennies here in Aus) on the scale numbers. I have only lost on the scale a kilo 2.2 pounds) in almost 2 months. In January I tried on one of the 3 non-fitting suits I brought from Canada with me.... they were all tight. Last night we received a wedding invite and it got me thinking that I would like to wear that favourite black suit of mine I wore at my last job, so this morning I tried it on to see if I could get motivated before April 27 (not that I have motivation now.... crikey, almost every evening at the gym lately) and it fits!! not barely like before... but nicely!!! So I tried the next one on.. and the next.... today I am at work wearing a fav light grey suit that I have not worn for 18 months! It is a great feeling. To **** with the scales.... dig out those old favourite items from the back of the closet!! WOOOHOO!! Scales are no longer the determination of my daily mood!!! A Canadian size 12 is my new determination.
Talk about motivation, this has made me pack my gym bag, leave it in the car (I usually take the train but with school holidays this week the traffic is almost non-existant) and I am heading to my Body Pump class RIGHT after work. On Wednesdays, my hubby downloads the US Survivor and I watch it at a friend's house, tonight there will be no chocolate OR cheese twists....... I am so MOTIVATED.... so much more than before!!!
Christine, I have a gift certificate for a book store from my b-day and am thinking of buying the Body for Life book after I finish this 12 week challenge..... still thinking about it..... seriously!!! I hope you find success with it!
I just love reading everyone's posts in this thread. You guys are GREAT!
Keep up the good work, and don't let those bunnies catch up with you!

Nola you must be dancing on air!!! You go girl!!!!. I think that all that exercising is sure changing your body shape...And that is even more noticable then losing pounds.
I really would love to be able to change my shape. But before I get into any strenuous type exercise(besides walking) I need to go to the doctor and get some blood work done. I have been having such weird heart palpitations and lightheadness, and sleepless nights. I want him to do blood tests to check my hormones.. hopefully its the start of menopause and nothing more serious.
I dont know if I had mentioned this before but I also have a thryoid disease that I have had for over 10 years. Its called Hashimotos disease. Its when your immune system attacks your thyroid gland. Well anyway when I was living back in the states I would go and get my blood checked every 3-6 months to make sure my levels of TSH were right. I havent had any blood tests since I have been in Canada. (I am afraid to trust a new doctor,,weird eh?)So Iam still on the same level of medicaton as i was almost a year ago. But if my level of medication is too high, that can also cause the heart palps, and lightheadness and restless nights. So I will be sure to make an appt with the hubbys doc (I had all my medical records sent here from my doc in the US).
But as soon as I know what the heck is happening with me.. Ill feel so much better about doing the cardio and all that muscle building stuff. And hopefully I can change some of this flab into muscle....Oh I know I wont ever look like Julia Roberts... but I dont want to look like Kathy Bates either!!!!!.......:lol::lol:
Keep up that exercising Nola,,,, it sure is paying off for you !!!!!
I hope everyone is having a great evening. See ya'all later !!!!!!

Nola--Just reading your post will keep me motivated today! Isn't it great to get something out of your closet and it fits so nicely! I'm sure you got lots of compliments on it today!
I got on the scale for the last time in April today. I am down 1 more pound, with only 5 more to go! I have really been struggling with the last couple of pounds! I just can't wait to be in the 150's--that sounds so much better than weighing 160!
Nancy--I hope you make an appointment with the Dr soon. YOu don't want to play around with medication. And, with your weight loss, your body may be requiring a smaller dose. Perhaps your old dr could give you a recommendation??
Well, I hope we all have as good a day as Nola did! You guys are terrific!

:) Hi everyone!
I was having a hard time posting yesterday - actually, had a hard time even trying to find the last post listed - the page would just suddenly end, even though I knew someone had posted - the mysteries of cyberspace!!!
Nancy - Gosh, I'm now feeling a little concerned for you, with your mention of palpitations and lightheaded-ness - we will all feel better once you are checked out by a doctor :) we don't want anything bad to happen to you!!!
'Nola - You go, girl, for exercising so much! And hooray to you for fitting into the clothes that are smaller!!!
tryin' hard - you have come so far - was it 87 pounds in a year? - soon you will be at your goal size and feeling fine!
Christine - hope the BFL is going well for you. You'll have to keep us updated, in case any of us want to attempt it. I remember you mentioned taking "before" photos - have you done "before" measuring? That would be good to have to compare to.
Hi Sprite - did you find a swimsuit you liked? Thanks for contacting Aphil - I hope she's pleased with our progress!
Hi also to Pamela, Melisa, KellyAnne, Jacklyn, and welcome JoAnne!
I wanted SO much just to eat all day yesterday - really wanted salty things - so for lunch I had two Healthy Choice hotdogs (boy, are they packed with sodium) with lite bread - and then a white cheddar rice cake, all washed down with diet pepsi. It was a big change from my usual tuna with no-fat mayo sandwich and carrots! But if it doesn't happen often, I guess that's okay.
I am in big-time agreement with shunning the scale for a while, and going by measurements/fit of clothing. I measured myself March 24, so I guess 3 weeks will be a good time to wait until measuring again.
And right on Nancy for the statement that a healthier way of eating/living is not just for a week/month/whatever; we have to make changes that we can live with for the rest of our lives. So that makes the occasional treat easier to reconcile and not to view as "blowing it".
I'm going to hit the stepper now - couldn't make it to 45 minutes last time, only 35 - so I'm going to try for at least 36 minutes, for cryin'out loud!
I'm wishing everyone a great day!
Your friend, Holly

Good morning everyone :-)
A few of you have asked how I'm doing with BFL. Well, to be honest its harder than I thought it would be.
I have only done one strength session so far, the second is scheduled for today. I really enjoyed it (I've always enjoyed strength exercises and have been waiting for the day that I had the equiptment available for me to do it regularly).
I skipped my cardio yesterday cuz I'm a bad girl but I'm considering making it up shortly and doing the 20-minute session today instead. Then this evening when the hubby gets home, we'll do the lower body weight workout too.
Food wise, I'm trying to be good and eat my 6 mini-meals a day but its hard. I'm thinking I might just continue on my merry way with the rest of the program but tweak the food just a tad. I'll still try to eat healthy and higher protein than usual (food for my new muscles i'll be building) but I don't know about sticking with the strict program I'm trying to keep up with here. It takes so much thought that I feel like all I'm doing is thinking about food (not good when yer trying to diet eh??) LOL
I haven't taken any before photos or done my measurements. I keep meaning to but forgetting.. argh.. I think today I'll do the measurements at least because that's what I really want to mark my progress with. :)
Anyway, must go do something productive now.. been a bum on this puter since I got up 2 hours ago.. yikes.. hehe
Hope everyone has a great day today... I'll try to check in again later..

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Northern B C. That sure does make me feel good.
I made an appt with the New doctor for 1:15 tomorrow. I am going to let him know what has been happening to me and also tell him that there are several blood tests that I want done (besides the thyroid). I have learned from experiance that you have to tell them what you want and not let them tell you its all in your head... All I know is that I want to feel healthy again.
Tryin'hard~~~ You have come so far with your weightloss. How long has it taken? You have to be feeling like a whole new person..Congratulations to you!!!!!!!!
Christine~~~ Even though your BFL feels rather tough right now stick it out. You will see the benefits quickly. Experts say with any type of Diet/Healthy Living Lifestyle change that it gets easier after the first two weeks. I feel that is true. As in the first few days it is so easy to say "oh what the heck" and quit.. But when you have at least 2 weeks invested and you have been commited it seems harder to chuck it out the window. Remember we are behind you all the way!!!
Holly~~~ So glad you were able to log on today, We missed you yesterday. Oh how I wish we could get the Healthy Choice hot dogs here.. By you mentioning those,, It makes me realize how limited we are up here on those types of foods. I think I am going to give the Veggie dogs a try...I know that sounds yucky:eek:... but they sell so much of those types of items up here (I am thinking someone be buying and eating them) I used to love the Morningstar Garden Veggie patties.. but again,, we cant get those here..Have you ever tried those?
And way to go on the stepper... you are so dedicated to your exercise..!!!
Good morning to the rest of the ladies also.. I hope it is a bright SUNNY:cool:day for all and that we have SPRING:sheep: in our step and SMILES:)on our faces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am going to get out in the sunshine and enjoy this day.. One thing about living way up north like this is,when its spring and summer it stays light till 11 pm and sunrise is about 4:30am...pretty cool eh...

Nancy--so glad you're seeing the doctor soon. I think you'll feel a lot better just for getting it checked.
I've been doing my "own thing" diet wise since last January. It's not a diet, it's a way of life. I have become one of those people who says no to cake and I can honestly say I don't eat cookies anymore. There isn't a cookie that I like well enough to waste my calories on. This is the second year in a row that I did not have any Girl Scout cookies! I've learned that if I'm going to limit my calories, I'm going to have what I like and not waste them!
I do feel like a new person. I walk taller and I feel so much more confident. I'm an 8th grade teacher and I also know that I am much healthier role model for my students, especially the girls. I have three girls in my room (out of 16 girls) who are over 200 pounds! They're only 14 years old! My heart breaks for them, but I also know that they have to come to terms with it and have tremendous support from their families if they are going to do anything about it. It just makes me sad...
Physically, I feel so much stronger and in control of my own health. Last year, I had migraines more often than not and I even went to the dr with chest pains! It turned out to be acid reflux, but even that is gone now, too. My TOM is much more manageable, but I attribute that to the walking I do every morning. It helps me from getting too stressed.
I am very lucky to have a dh who loves me no matter what I weigh, but I do know that I am much easier to live with now! And, my 9 yr old dd has a much healthier mom. I never, ever wanted someone to tell her that her mom was fat.
So... lots of rambling, but YES, I do feel terrific!!
I hope you all are having a great day. I'm getting so much inspiration from all of you and it helps keep me going!
Hope you'll all check in soon!

Hi there everybody!
Hope everyone is doing well this week. I have still been into my son's Easter chocolate as it is so good. But I did do two super long walks today. The weather is so beautiful here I just had the most awesome day spending most of it outside.
Holly I haven't found a swimsuit yet as I am waiting for my girl's shopping trip weekend which is in about two weeks , then I will start to look.
Nancy how did your doctor's appt. go? I hope everything is okay. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and know first hand how much of an advocate you have to be for yourself to get anything done by doctors. Keep bugging them until you get the answers that you need.
Tryin' hard are you at your goal weight yet? Sounds like you've done a remarkable job!
Christine, keep up the good work on BFL and adjust it to suit your needs I'm sure you will still see the benefits.

I'm still into ds's Easter candy too, but it's not like he's going to eat it since he's 19 months! I didn't buy it for him, he got it from his aunt (Easter egg hunt), got a little too buzzed on Sunday from the little he had. I think I'll send the rest with dh to work (coworkers eat it) so I can get back on track. I can't wait for all the snow to melt so I can ride off the rest of my weight! *sigh*. Soon enough, soon enough. Glad to hear everyone's doing good.

Greetings everyone!
:)
I hope everyone is well... thank you for all the response from my Victory Day post. It felt awesome. And soon everyone else will have a story to tell. I do have to admit that out of habit, I did do the daily jump on the scale, but today I laughed at it.... take that!! Evil scale. And wore a "new to this job" suit today. YAY!
Hubby is out tonight at a Basketball game, he hurt his knee a month ago and we are just waiting for an appointment with a surgeon to see if he needs surgery on it. Most likely a minor cartilege clean up, so he is keeping score or something. Male bonding more like it... house to myself! Those evenings are few and far between, and I am almost waiting to see which one of his friends has forgotten that it is b-ball night and shows up anyway....... oh well. I am enjoying my evening away from the gym :D
Nancy, I hope everything is good today at the Dr's..... and that you get the answers you want. Get things looked after so you can enjoy the spring/summer!! My mom had thyroid issues too and finds that if she goes for her walks she does much better with the weight control than when she gets busy and doesn't keep up with them. Might be the fact that from November - March she is wearing boots, and a full on ski-doo suit for those walks!! Spring is just around the corner! I am dealing with no daylight savings!! It is almost dark by the time I get home now! Oh I long for those long Canadian summer nights!
Tryn' Hard.... I didn't realize you were so close to goal weight!! That totally rocks! I have read that the last 5 or so pounds are the toughest to lose, hang in there and they will disappear!
I hope everyone is doing great and are getting through the week, the weekend is not far away... and it begins tomorrow for the people down here!! WOOOHOOO!
Keep up the good work everyone! :D

Hi Everyone~ Looking forward to see how you all did yesterday.
JoAnn--Thanks for the pat on the back. People are getting used to seeing the "new me" and don't seem to say much anymore, but I still like to hear it!
I basically count calories. I tend to think of food in 100-calorie portions and it's easy to count! For breakfast, I eat Kashi to Good Friends cereal. It does taste a little like twigs, but once you get used to it, I like it. It's high in fiber and I eat about 200 calories worth. I don't put milk on it--I eat it dry. It's super crunchy and satisifies that need as well. I drink a couple of cups of coffee in the morning, with just a little bit of milk. I also drink 48 oz of water before lunch. (Especially around 10:30 when the belly is rumbling!) For lunch, I eat 2 slices of diet bread (100 cals) and two pieces of fat free cheese (50 cal) with mustard and a green apple (100 cal) and I drink a diet coke (can't give THAT up!!). After school is probably my worst time of the day. I usually have a handful of dried apples (100 cals) and some crackers or popcorn (100 cals). Dinner is usually about 200 cals worth of protein (chicken, fish, lean beef or eggs), 200 cals worth of starch and a salad. For dessert, I either have 2 rice cakes (100 cals) or I have recently found the skinny cow ice cream sandwiches (130 cals). So, by the end of the day, it adds up to 1300 cals or so. I figure if I come in under 1500, it's a good day. Like I've said before, I eat whatever I want on Fridays and even then, I rarely go over 2000. When I think about what I USED to eat--my goodness, 2000 would have been a good day!
I hope this helps! I've seen other people post guidelines for calorie allotments for b'fast, snacks, lunch and dinner, and those are pretty helpful in planning.
Speaking of planning, I plan the week's dinners on Sunday mornings before I go grocery shopping. If I don't plan, we eat way too much pasta!! It also helps eliminate boredom. I recently read in a magazine that every time you go to the grocery store, you should try something new from the produce section. I have recently had a red pear ( I always bought green) and a new lettuce combination in the bag.
Well, this is the longest post I've ever written. I hope you all have an amazing day! Make it a good one!
JoAnn

Thank you so much for your inspirational post! You have really made me realize that the OLD BASIC WAY of counting Calories is the best way to be TRUE BLUE to yourself! I was thinking of counting fat grams, but I know there are a lot of fat grams that read 0 but are loaded with sugar, therefore are not good for you.
I am weighing in at 179 (SOUNDS LIKE A BOXER!)
I am 56 yrs. old (MOTABOLISM SLOWED DOWN, WAY DOWN!):dizzy:
I am 5 " 5" (AND STRINKING!) :p And I am not very active.
TryingHard or anyone else.............DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT AMOUNT OF CALORES IF SHOULD LIMIT MYSELF TO in order to LOSE WEIGHT? It has been so long since I have counted calories, I have forgotten. Is there a site that will help me figure this? :?:

JoAnn.. I get different numbers from all different sites as to how many calories I should intake per day. Who knows which are accurate or not!!
Some general rules I've heard are, never drop below 1200 calories a day, as this will put you in 'starvation mode' and your metabolism will slow. It is a good idea to fluctate daily calories. Like, if you're aiming for 1500 calorie limit, try 1600 one day, 1400 the next and just mix it up so your body never knows what to expect.. even 1700 one day and 1300 the next. As long as you're balancing out at around the 1500/day. Lastly, I've heard if you don't want to calculate to get your specific calorie requirements, most people will suggest you just aim for that 1500 calorie mark as it seems most folx will lose at that level. Of course, if you start out VERY overweight, that may be too little but 179 pounds is certainly not in that category.
Here is one link for you if you'd like to check it out. It's at iVillage. Look down at the 3rd row and there is a 'calorie quiz' that asks like 11 questions and gives you a recommendation of either a 1200, 1400 or 1600 calorie plan. It recommended to me the 1400 calories (I am 27, 5'4" and 149 lbs (down from 195)). Give it a try :) http://www.ivillage.com/diet/weightlossomatic/pages/0,12983,404402_406848,00.html
Hope that helps, for some reason I cannot find any of the other calculators I've used in the past online. I'll let you know if I can figure out where they were ;-) You can try going to a search engine and searching for 'calorie calculator' and you'll probably get a number of hits with useful info :)

Christine--how tall are you? I am 5 ft 7 in and even though it's at the high end of all those (darn) height/weight charts, I'm aiming for 155. I see that you are at 149 now (you lucky dog!!!) and your goal is 130. I weighed 130 (for about 30 seconds) once, and I was "too skinny". My mother yelled at me!! Besides, I wasn't comfortable with myself. Right now, I can wear sizes 8 - 10 and that works well for me. Just curious!
Have a great day!

I'm just under 5'4" and at 149 pounds I'm still wearing a size 12. I'd like to ultimately wear a size 8 max so I figured another 20 pounds or so and I'll be there. Unless this building muscle works for me... in which case I am assuming I'll weigh a little more even tho I'll be slimmer :)
I did go to the doctor and he has me going for blood tests in the morning. All different ones. I told him exactly how I was feeling and which tests I wanted done(pretty forceful eh???) So tomorrow morning (8 am) I am having thyroid, fasting blood sugar, female hormone, the whole haemotolgy panel, complete chloresteral panel.. anyway there are too many for me to type... So hopefully I will be able to find out a simple solution to the weird things that have been happening to me.
What is so cool is getting weighed on a scale in his office.. it showed that I weighed 88.............Kilos that is!!!! so that really translates to 193.6 pounds... not bad considering my scale at home last week(which angered me) showed me at 195. So I came home and double checked on my scale. And they are exactly the same... Ok,,, I know I was not going to weigh till the middle of the month...but what do you do when the doctor says ok..get on the scale... So anyway...down 1.4 pounds...
Christine~~~ How are you holding up with the BFL? I hope you are doing well.
TryinHard'~~~ size 8-10 jeans... that is awesome... I think the last time I seen that size I was about 18months old....hahahahah.. Ill be happy when I am a 12.. I wear a 16 right now. I have no curve to my waist though.. So the waist on pants are alway a little snug...but the legs and stomach get so baggy.
I love that Kashi Good Friends cereal... but again,,,I cant find it here... Another thing to add to the shopping list when on vacation...Geesh my car will be loaded when I get back from the states, I sure hope they wont confiscate my diet food at the border!!!!
JoAnn~~~ What ever you do dont start your self to low when counting calories.. I made that mistake when I started this in February. So right now I am trying to do like Christine says and mix my calories up from day to day.. By starting out to low.. you slow your body down too much..Good luck, I am sure you will be successful!
Nola~~~ You must have felt super in your "new to the job suit" Keep up the good work...its paying off for you!!
Sprite~~~ How is your weather down there? I was going to take off this weekend with my SIL for a trip to Prince George and do some shopping and go to the movies and just have a fun weekend,, but the weather put an end to that.. Heavy snow warnings for Prince George this weekend.. But luckily here it has only been the light, non-stick type snow/rain mix. The snow has almost all melted here and it was actually beginning to feel almost springy.
How long have you had CFS? Can you take medication to help with it? My older sister has Fibromyalgia.. I feel so bad for her.. she hurts so much but has the disposition of an angel! Are CFS and Fibromyalgia similar?
Pamela~~~ Hope the snow in Minnesota melts soon for you and you can be out riding your bike ,,then it will be the pounds just melting away on you!!!!!!!
To all the rest of the group , I hope you all had an awesome day...
see everyone tommorow.....

 Hi everyone! Happy Friday!
Everyone sounds upbeat and doing great. I, however, have had a rough couple of days - instead of focusing on what I may have to eat, I'm just thinking of what I want to eat. I've really got to snap out of it.
However, I'm feeling good that yesterday I really punched (ow) up my exercise session - after doing the 40-some minutes of low-impact cardio with light weights for toning, I then picked up my husband's 8 pound wieghts and did some arm exercises until the point of arm-wiggling fatigue. Now, feeling a little sore this morning in the triceps, I feel that maybe I can feel at what point I need to push myself to make some progress. Oh, how I wish I could have a personal trainer!!! I really need someone right there to push me; I give up so easily.
Nancy, yesterday I picked up an issue of a magazine (either "Shape" or "fitness" or something) and there was an article about thyroid disorders - and there was Hashimoto's disease. It didn't really have anything helpful to say - just that it needs to be treated by a doctor. I am thinking positive, healthful thoughts to you about your tests!:) :) And HOORAY for the additional weight lost! Has your doctor said anything about your weightloss program yet?
I liked the advice that Christine gave regarding calories per day - "mixing it up" - give these crazy bodies a tweak so they don't think they need to go into "starvation mode"...
[B]Nancy, Sprite, Pamela, Christine, tryin' hard, Kanola, Melisa, Jacklyn, Kellyanne, and JoAnne - wishing all of you a great, in-control kind of day! (the kind I need :dizzy: )

Hi All!
Nancy glad to hear that you were very specific with what you wanted at the doctor. Let us know how the blood tests turn out. The weather here has been absolutely beautiful. It is almost like summer. Everyone in T-shirts and shorts, all the kids outside playing and eating popsicles! Apparently the weather is supposed to turn rapidly by late this afternoon to rain. Oh well it just gave me a taste of what's to come. I cannot wait for summer. I just love it.
CFS often goes hand in hand with Fibromyalgia. I do not get alot of pain but mostly muscle weakness and complete exhaustion. I do not take medication for it as part of my problem due to this illness is I am very sensitive to alot of medication and even herbal supplements. I have had it for 11 years and have just learned to live with it and manage my energy. I have to really watch the exercise so that I do not overdo it. Your poor sister. Does she take anything for Fibro?
Holly hang in there, I'm sending you "in-control" vibes through the computer.
Tryin' hard I would love to wear a size 8. I bet you look fabulous. And if you feel good about your weight now then you are at your right weight. It is all individual.
I am 5'3" and wear a size 14, with an occasional 12 outfit that fits me. I would be happy being an 8 or a 10. I have heard that every 10 pounds lost represents a size smaller. Does anyone know if that information is accurate.
Have a good day everyone!

I've heard the same thing.. about 10 lbs lost = one size smaller..
I think it depends on how you view a size..
To me 11/12 is one size, 13/14 is another and 15/16 yet another. My highest size was a tight 16 at 195 lbs and now, down 46 pounds, I consider myself to have only gone down 2 sizes (15/16 to 11/12) but if you consider each number a seperate size then I'm down 4 sizes which would be more accurate for the 10lbs=1size theory. I also think that as you lose weight when you're heavier.. 195 to 185 for example, you won't see as much difference in your clothing as when you lose 10 lbs at a lighter weight.. like 145 to 135. I believe if i lost another 46 pounds (yikes, i'd be too skinny) that i wouldn't only drop those 2 sizes.. but I'd probably be wearing like a size 3/4 .. so that'd be like 4 sizes ..
Now, i don't know if that made any sense but thats my 2 cents ;)

Hey guys,
I missed you all SO MUCH!!!! Everytime I had an opportunity to get online, either someone else was on or someone was on the phone. It's been 6 days. I think that's a record for me. Anyway, I'm glad everyone had a good holiday.
I'm also glad that Nancy is getting her blood work done. It's so frustrating to feel like something is wrong and not know what it is. Your mind can race with all kinds of thoughts.
I see everyone is getting ready for the good weather. Buying bathing suits and shorts, planning on doing more physical activity. I can't wait for the weather to get nicer either. I bought my bathing suit for Florida. Nothing fancy. One piece with a skirt. I have thunder thighs. I can't wait until they firm up and get smaller. It's very frustrating, but I know it will happen.
I too pulled an item out of my closet just for kicks and it fit better than it used to. That was an awesome feeling. I haven't dared to get on the scale. TOM I don't plan on getting on until the Sat after we get back from Florida. I don't want to get discouraged. I've been sticking to my plan, except for today. i had a slight binge. I know why. I was really hungry at 5 o'clock and had to wait until about 8 o'clock to eat dinner. I should have had a piece of fruit or something to hold me over, but I didn't. My bad. I'll be sure to eat something next time I feel so hungry. If I don't post before Tuesday night, I'll be back on after I get back from Disney. I've got a lot to do to get ready for the trip. Have a great week everyone.

Melissa, great news that your clothes are fitting you better. I hope you have a great time at Disney! All of that walking you're going to be doing your thighs will tone up in no time.
I stayed the same this week which I'm actually happy about since I have not been eating very well all week with my TOM due anytime.

 Good Morning everyone!
Good to hear from you, Melisa - I was wondering where you were. I had forgotten that your Disneyworld trip is coming up - lucky you! I hope you have a fantastic time in the warmth!
I think I've been feeling sluggish because I haven't been getting out in the fresh air - been relying on tapes for indoor exercise. Well, the weather hasn't been too cooperative either, but I've gone out for walks two days in a row now, and it feels so good! Once by myself, and once with the dog. However, with the dog, she stops to SNIFF every other second or so, which kinda interrupts the briskness...oh well:shrug: it's fun for her.
Nancy, how did your doctor's appointment go? do you have to wait for long for the test results? I hope (as we all do, I'm sure) that everything is O.K.
Thanks for the support vibes, Sprite! I felt them radiating from my monitor  I need all the well-wishing I can get!:dizzy:
Hello also to Christine, tryin'hard, Pamela, Kanola, Jacklyn, KellyAnne, and JoAnne.
Even though I haven't lost much yet, that little bit of looseness in my jeans is doing so much for me. It is a constant reminder that I am actually doing something about getting healthier, not just wishing it would happen; it helps when I am thinking about eating something when I'm not even really hungry; and it's helping with my self-confidence. I wish it would be quicker, but don't we all. :^:
Have a great Saturday, everyone!:strong:

Hey everyone!!! Sounds like we are all having a productive weekend! I am off horseback riding for the day... leaving in a few minutes but I just wanted to stop in and say Hi! And share some news......
Yesterday I bought a motorbike! I have wanted one for awhile now, and after moving to Australia where you can ride one year round, and making a few friends who ride..... I signed up for the 2 day license course on April 20-21. You are restricted to a 250cc for 2 years so we went to a place that only sells grey imports from Japan... and I bought a '96 Hornet.... a black one! I am so stoked.... now I need to lose the flab so that I can buy a great pair of Tiger Angel racing leathers when I get my bonus in June!! Oh ya!!!
One of my friend's from Canada thinks I am going through a mid-life crisis (I am only 30) about 10 years early.... :) She should talk... she just got back from her 41st birthday in Puerto Rico with a new boyfriend! Crikey!
Anyways... I must go pack the camera.... I hardly slept last night thinking about the bike and now I have to go riding for 8 hours.... so I am off!!!
Have a good weekend everyone!!! You only live once... make the most of it!

Woke this morning to lots of snow on falling... this is making me go CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!
If I could get my hands on Mother Nature she sure would be feeling the wrath of one mean premenstrual woman!!!!!
Will spring ever come???
Went and got the blood tests done yesterday, so it will be about a week and a half before I go back to the doctor for the results. So just have to wait and see till then.
Kanola~~~ so cool about the motorbike...not an early mid-life crisis...just living your life... have fun with it!
Holly~~~It sure is a good feeling when the jeans are loose.. I also put on a pair of jeans this morning and was very happy with the way they fit. That is a big incentive to keep going for sure!!
Sprite~~~glad you stayed the same this week,, after all, they say that woman burn more calories when its that TOM then any other time. So even when those chocalate cravings hit us all we really dont do as bad as we think.
Melisa~~~Glad you found your self a swimsuit to wear on your vacation . I hope you have a wonderful time. And dont forget to tell us all about it when you get back!
Wishing everyone a happy day,, and that you have some wonderful spring weather...If you have any extra can you send it my way???.........pretty please..........
See ya later!!

:) Hey everyone!
Kanola, I just had to respond right away to your post. First, kudos to you for being so active! You're either at the gym, or now riding horseback? Wow!
Now, I will divulge my secret longing, once I am at a size I want (hopefully 8-10) - I also want a motorcycle! More specifically, to learn to ride one. Well, I know how to ride one, I mean to operate one! And to be strong enough to pick it up if I dump it. My husband has always had motorcycles since he was like 15, and he would pick me up on one when we first started dating (at the baby ages of 16 and 19) and I've loved it since. Have never driven one, though. I know I should learn on something not too big, but then would like something in the 400cc range.
Okay, so does that qualify as my mid-life crisis, as I am 41? Who the heck cares, right?
Congrats, Kanola!!!!!!
Holly, biking-sister-in-spirit!

Hey Kanola! How cool  a motorbike! I think that is just the greatest thing. It would be so much fun! You sound very adventurous and willing to try new things. Alot of people put their life on hold while they are losing weight and you just go for it!
Holly I once had a friend who would pick me up on his motorcycle for a ride and it was awesome. I have never driven one myself and don't know if I have the guts. Maybe one day.
Nancy maybe you should change your online name from Snowey to Sunny and that might change the weather out your way.

Wow... The snow is almost gone. Yesterday I realized that af was quite a few days late, so I took a test and it looks like we're getting a very special present for Christmas! I'm in complete shock (just had a mc in Nov) and a little scared, but going to trust God to work everything out. I might still lurk/post here if that's ok. Hopefully, I will still eat good and gain the right amount of weight (gained 61 with ds). Still in shock.

Of course we still want you to post here. We are a team. Gaining the right amount of weight during pregnancy is something you should watch carefully just as we are watching carefully to lose.
I am so happy for you! (and a little envious) I have one child who is 5 and only plan to have one. However, sometimes I secretly wish I would be surprised by a pregnancy and the decision would be taken out of my hands.
Have a super happy day!:)

Pamela - Congratulations to you and your family! Of course we want you to still be a part of the group. We will be the ones to say, "now, you're not really supposed to be eating for two" - just kidding. We'll give you all the support we have :D
Nancy - Congrats on the looser-feeling jeans! that is so great. And what a good reminder throughout the day. "It can be done!!!" :D . You must have wanted to shriek when you saw the snow falling the other morning...I know I would have. We still have piles of snow, but it's melting.
Sprite - You never know what kind of "surprises" might be in the future - my husband and I thought we were set with one child, then 7 years later, surprise! Son #2. Hope you're doing fine.
Christine - I think it was a good idea for you to have a "warm'up" week before BFL - gave you an idea of what you will need to do. Good Luck!:)
Melisa - are you there yet? Hope you have a fantastic time with your family in the sun and surf! Remember the sunscreen!
Kanola - how was horseback riding? Do you ride often? Do you have a friend who has horses, or are they rentals? ("yes, I'd like a palomino four-door sedan, please"). Hope you're doing great!:)
tryin' hard - How was your weekend? Hope it was super!:D
Also hello to KellyAnne, Jacklyn, and JoAnne! Hope you're all doing fine and happy.

 Hi everyone!
Hope everybody's doing well. Nancy, you can vent as much as you want! We sure do want blue skies, warm breezes, warm sun...mmmm! It does seem to take forever up here - and you're so much farther north! I was intrigued by what yousaid about the evening staying light for so late in the summer up north - really, like 'til 11:00? and then sun-up at 4:30? amazing!
Well, I'm so pleased that when I was out for my walk, I tried a little interval jogging - and I was actually able to do it! Last summer, I was walking a bit, but couldn't manage any jogging, not even for a minute - my heavy parts were heaving around too much for comfort, and I was so puffing - but I was able today to jog for 3 minutes, walk for a minute, jog again - yeah! It's a start. I have to thank Lexxy, who was involved in this thread back in February, when I joined, for the idea of interval jogging/walking - thanks, Lexxy, wherever you are! Hope you're doing good!:)
And the other tip, which I also got from a thread here somewhere, was to wear two sport bras at once! Boy, it really holds you in snugly! No bouncing!:D
And I have a dessert idea that I made last night -prepare a box of vanilla sugar-free pudding (I like the cooked kind, rather than instant) and make it with two cups of skim milk; as you're stirring, add some instant coffee granules and a shake of ground cinnamon to taste - cappucchino pudding! I devoured mine. :^:
Bye, all!

I will have to say that while on vacation, I did exactly what I said I would do and ate pretty much anything that was in reach.:o But I have come back ready to start where I left off!! It's funny how seeing all of those people in swim suits can be so motivating!
We got back in Sunday night and yesterday I did pretty good. I even got out and walked. I have to admit that I was slacking off on the exercise but I am ready to get back at it.

Welcome back Jacklyn,, I hope you had an awesome time. We missed you!
How is everyone today? The thread seems a little quiet. I sure hope with spring and summer coming that all of us still will be posting. I love having the support of this thread. And giving support as well. It has helped me so much.
Christine, how is the BFL going for you ?
Holly,,, way to go on the interval jogging. I heard that is good to do when walking. Walk so far and then run for a few minutes and walk again. It boosts your walking workout.
I know what you mean about the bouncing when walking/running. That can kill ya! I hated to run, I always had to hold my chest with one arm( I look like I was running with a football) But I made the decision back in July 1998 to have breast reduction surgery and its the best thing I have ever done for myself. All my life I had the "big ones" it was torture growing up and being teased constantly. I had always wanted to have the surgery but was too afraid. But at the ripe old age of 42 I decided to do it!!! And what a difference it made.. no more back aches , no more groove in the shoulders.
No more bulging buttons on shirts..I just wish I hadnt waited so long to do it...but anyway...sorry to ramble... some times you just got to tell me to shut up.....
I need to go walking ,,but its raining here and I have to admit I am still feeling like a slug. But yesterday I did get alot of exercise(sort of) I rearranged furniture and did some spring cleaning.
Oh and I did do some reps, with the weights(arms).
I am trying to drink lots of water..Does anyone have a hard time with this? Sometimes its so easy and other days its hard to drink any. Water sure does help with weightloss.
Have a wonderful day all....
See everyone later, keep smiling

I was just introducing myself, I have the thread, low fat eating is the way! Just wanted to see how other people are doing. As I had posted, I have lost 16 pounds( last checked on Friday) by watching my fat intake, working out almost everyday, and being postive about it. I had read quite a few Susan Powter books, and a few more on weight loss in general, and gave this a try. about 3 years ago, I had lost 70 pounds watching my calories closely, but gained it all back, plus 30 after I had my child, as well as military basic training.( completing it)
I just wanted to let my thoughts be seen, and see how others feel about it. I really like this change of eating( i do intend to make this permanant), because I am never starving, or tense or moody because I cant have this or that. Anyhow, let me know what you all think!!I would greatly appreciate it!!

Hello everyone! Seems like a slow day for posting. Bummer since its my first day back on this thread.
Well I let you guys know that I dont plan on weighing for about a week. I figure I ate everything I could for a week so I better give myself a week to recover from damage already done:smug: I've been doing pretty well though the past 2 days so hopefully I'm back on track.
Nancy, I've thought about getting the breast reduction thing done too. I'm glad to hear that you dont regret it. I'm only 29 and I am really starting to get lower back problems and my shoulders are always sooooo tight just from the weight of these things. I've decided that I want to get down to my goal weight and then see if I still need it. I'm afraid I probably will though, it seems that I loose everywhere but in that area. We'll see though. :^:
Welcome t-girl!! I have to agree with you. I think that low fat is a great way to go. Several years ago I lost about 45 to 50 pounds, and it was all due to low fat and lots of walking. I've managed to maintain a majority of the loss over the years but now I've had to start watching my calories. I fell into the trap of thinking it was okay to eat and eat and eat...as long as it was low fat. I remember the first time I bought some Snackwell cookies and gobbled about 5 of them down...then realized that they were about 50 calories a pop!!! So I have to be careful about stuff like that. I don't even buy things like that anymore because I fully acknowledge that if I do, I will most likely eat the entire box in one day. I know, no will power. I am a true believer in walking as well. Not only does it help the weight loss but it is therapeutic as well. It gives me a chance to think about things and destress.
Anyways, hope everyone is having a great day. Oh yeah, Pamela CONGRATS!! You must be so excited! I know you are on your way to a healthy pregnancy!
Talk to you all later:)

Welcome t-girl :)
Welcome back Jacklyn, wise choice not to weigh for a week! (I always step on the scale the minute I'm home just to see what damage I've done.. I'm bad)
Nancy, I too have thought about the option of breast reduction surgery. I am hoping that losing this weight will do the trick but so far I'm still wearing the same damn bra size... 36DDD for anyone as nosey as I am ;). My bras are JUST starting to feel a little loose so I may have to try a 36DD.. still too huge for my tastes! When I was in HS, I lost weight down to 124 pounds and went down to a 34C!! Perfect! I know I'll never be back there again tho even if by some miracle of nature I was able to get down to 124 pounds, as I went up a cup size when I had my daughter and never back down..blah :( ! I'd be satisfied if I could just get back into a 36D tho. Not thrilled, but satisfied... Guess the only way to find out is to lose the rest of this dang weight :D I'd more seriously consider the surgery if I didn't fear it.. I'm a paranoid person so even the slightest risk scares me.. what a wus
Anyways, as far as BFL goes, it may just be too strict for me to stick to.. I really wanted it to work but I don't think I can stick to the meal plan associated with it. I'm continuing my strength training workouts and enjoying them well enough and I'm eating much healthier than I had been so I figure even if I don't stick with their program, at least they got me back on the right track ;)
So, i'm off.. hope everyone else is doing well..

Hey everyone, just a quick post, this week has been HECTIC!! Just like any other week in my life these days!
Horseriding was fantastic, our guide was grumpy and annoyed with us at times, then my horse got kicked and I had to walk him about 3 kms before I felt confident he was not really hurt. Ended up with a very sore butt and legs! Went to a deep water running class on Monday and soaked in the hot tub there for about an hour..... then did some yoga and I feel much better today!
I ran into a woman from work at the gym, funny how people are different outside of the office. I thought she was a real snooty girl at work, but we ended up having a nice chat for 10 mins! I am still surprised she recognised me at all.... seeing how I was wearing a ball cap and not a suit!! hehehe
Contratulations Pamela on the news. You must be thrilled!! We do not have children and sometimes I wonder when that maternal urge will ever show up.... if it even will!!! I have very few friends who have children, seem to be part of the Double Income No Kids crowd at the moment. I think I would need to gain a great deal of patience, I have to leave family gatherings for the young ones b-days early because of throbbing headaches and the urge to yell "Shut UP" at them as my head spins around! hehehehe I think I should stay with cats!! But then this is coming from a former bitter single girl who said she was never getting married.... 2 years later I am not only married but living in Australia with a crazy aussie husband!! Who knows eh?
Congrats to Melissa on the non-smoking. I am a former smoker, never will be a non-smoker. I fell of the wagon after a year when my work buddy from Canada showed up with my fav pack of ciggies.... not remembering that I had quit. Smoked them ALL over a 2 week period, enjoyed every single one of them, then it took another 2 weeks to lose the cravings and quit sneaking a ciggie from work mates. It is just as tough as eating habit reform. You can do it tho!!! And after a week you feel so much better!!
Great to see you back from holidays Jacklyn! How was the trip?
Hey Nancy... still snowing? ;) I hope the snow is gone by now! I agree with the water... some days I drink huge amounts, and others not as much. I keep the water bottle near me at all times it seems. And never leave the house in the car without a bottle with you!
Well... I should get some work done... hope everyone has a good week and stays on track!
Nola.

Welcome T-Girl!
Welcome back Jacklyn Hope you had a great time on your trip. Seeing people in bathing suits is definitely a good motivator. With the weather changing to rain, rain and more rain my brain is fooled and thinks summer is a long long way off and I don't feel the bathing suit panic yet. As soon as a sunny day comes along Aaaaaaah! The why didn't I start sooner syndrome kicks in!
Hi Nancy! Cleaning your house is an excellent work out I hear and somewhere I've actually seen a calorie break down for different chores in and out of your house.
I sometimes long for a breast reduction myself but like Christine I am too chicken!:joker:
Christine Good for you that you didn't quit the BFL all together when it became difficult. Everyone will not respond the same to one set program and by altering to suit your needs you are assuring yourself of greater success! Keep up the great work!:)
Melissa: How goes the no smoking? I am an ex-smoker. I quit 4 years ago this April 1st. (I quit on April Fool's Day so that if it didn't work out I could say "just joking!")
Some people find it relatively painless. For me, however, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. (Second only to trying to lose weight) Good luck!
Kanola: Sounds like you are getting alot of exercise from different types of activities which is great. You are more likely to stick to it if you're not bored. A hot tub sounds heavenly!
I have been a stay at home mom for the past 5 1/2 yrs and have only recently started part time work and am planning on starting school soon. I think this change will be great for me and if I'm out of the house all day it will be easier to stay away from food! I certainly can't say to my boss " Hold that thought, I'm just going to grab a chocolate bar".
Take care all have a good week!

:) Hello everyone!
The TOM monster grabbed me today, :eek:making me feel very slug-like and yucky. I did manage to exercise, though, and wonder-of-wonders, didn't even feel like eating much.
I should clarify that when I was attempting jogging before, the jiggling parts were hips, thighs and arms - I'm not overly-endowed up top. But have also the dreaded "back fat" to lose:D .
Welcome, t-girl! Sounds like you have a good program going.
Tomorrow I'll do a better post with individual greetings, too bleary-eyed now - but especially good luck to Melisa, for trying to quit smoking - it's been 19 years since my last cig, and so glad I was able to quit.
Sweet dreams!

Hi Everybody and welcome to T-girl and welcome back to Jacklyn! I've been doing well and glad to say that TOM is finally here. I had really bad PMS. I didn't eat anything bad, but I was constantly hungry and looking for something to munch. The water does help--it at least stops the rumbling in my belly!
This is a hectic week for me. We are on vacation next week and report cards go home on Friday, so you can imagine the mountain of paper that is piled on my desk! But, next week I'll be in Virginia! I've been reading how you all cope with vacation--whether to throw caution to the wind, or just be careful. I think I'll take the careful route. Lately I find if I eat something too fatty (like a restaurant burger), I feel really yucky afterwards. Any body have any good vacation suggestions? I'm a passenger-muncher, so I hope dh lets me drive a lot!
Well, I hope you all have a good day. Everyone seems really focused and that's terrific!

 Good morning everyone!
Welcome back, Jacklyn! Hope your vacay was fantastic! Don't stress over any sudden jump on the scale - everyone has to go on vacation sometimes, and you should have enjoyed eating and drinking out of the ordinary routine. Just get back on track, and drink lots of water.
Hi Nancy - Good for you for doing some weight-work. It's hard for me to try to do triceps work - hard for me to isolate that move. But any effort pays off.
As for getting the water down, I keep a sport bottle in every room, and in the car, to help with chugging the H2O down. Also I don't log on here unless I have a 1 litre bottle with me. I can empty one of those just by reading and writing here, and lurking on other posts takes time, so I make myself drink alot then. :D
Hello Pamela - Are you feeling good? Are you subject to morning sickness? I sure hope not. Hope everything's going fine for you!
Hi Christine - I think it's great that you are doing the weight work-out part of BFL - I know I wouldn't be able to structure the six meals - but yes, you are definitely on the right healthy track. And building the lean muscle is definitely recommended for pushing past plateaus (spelled right?)
Hi t-girl - I read Susan Powter's first book, and was greatly inspired by it. She has such a down-to-earth way of communicating. I did have to make sure I checked calorie content of low- and no-fat foods, so I wouldn't be unpleasantly surprised by unexpectd gains when I thought I was doing so well. What kind of working out do you do?
Hey Kanola - you sure do have such varied exercise! That's so great! Deep water running? I'm too ignorant to even know what that is...:o Is your husband active, also?
Hi tryin' hard - That's great that you have a vacation next week. Virginia is beautiful. It should be nice and warm, shouldn't it? Can you pack a cooler with raw veggies and water to bring on the road trip?
You'll probably splurge with some restaurant meals, but you're right about feeling yucky soon after eating something kinda greasy - the reminder of that feeling might keep you from having any not-so-good food at all.
Hi Melisa - How's it going with the no-smoking? Boy, it must take alot of effort, what with losing weight also!!! We're proud of you!
I was lucky - smoking made me feel nauseous when I discovered I was 6 wks. pregnant - I was able to easily give it up then, and haven't had one since. Afraid to!
Hi Sprite - that is so cool that you are considering going back to school. Any special interest or field you are looking into?
I have a walking question, for those of you who are walkers - I know that I should be aiming for a "brisk" pace - and have heard that described as "walking to an appointment you know you are going to be late for". But is there a certain m.p.h. pace I should go for? I have measured off what I know is a one mile mark on my walk, and figure if there is a certain number of minutes I should walk one mile in, that will help me focus, instead of starting to "amble" walk. Any clues?:?:
I actually walked down the natural foods-aisle of the grocery store (a first) and found the breakfast cereal Kashi, which I remember some of you ladies talking about - it is good! I do add some sprinkled Nutrasweet to it, but it's good and crunchy and seems to last in the tummy even longer than the oatmeal I've been having EVERY day. It makes for a nice change.
Well, I decided to post in the morning to keep you all fresh in my mind, but I need to exercise now. It's still gray and wet and cold out, but I know I'll warm up once I start.
Have a great day, everyone!!!

Hello everyone :)
I found a quote to share today:
"I learned that the only way you are going to get anywhere in life is to work hard at it. Whether you're a musician, a writer, an athlete or a businessman, there is no getting around it. If you do, you'll win--if you don't, you won't."
--Bruce Jenner
I love quotes! :D
On the topic of walking, when I walk on my treadmill I find that MY 'brisk' pace is about 4mph but I can't usually keep that up for a full workout so I usually warm up around 3mph.. and then stick with 3.5-4 during most of the workout with a couple of 5-6mph sprints (usually 1 minute long and about 3 times during a 20 min walk). That seems to really get my heart rate going and the sweat dripping so I figure I must be doing something right. You can't really come up with a general number for 'brisk' tho as it really depends on your own level of fitness. Someone else may get that heartrate and sweat at 2.5 mph and some may need to speed it up to 4.5!! You really just have to find your own 'brisk' i think :)
I've officially dropped the BFL eating plan. I'm continuing to try to keep my fat intake down and protein up a little though and keep my diet more balanced. So, I'm basically back to calorie counting (without the 'lets see how many chocolates I can fit into a 1400 calorie day' methods). I find I can eat a lot more of the 'healthy' stuff and still stay under my calories.. the second I add unhealthy foods, I get much smaller servings and don't feel full enough on 1400 calories so I wind up closer to 1800-2000 :( I found the BFL entirely too strict.. when certain foods are entirely banned from my diet I tend to crave them to no end and binge on them when I finally get my hands on them!! :o
I am going to continue my strength training workouts because I enjoy them and I think building me some muscle will do exactly what Holly says, and help me break through my plateau here! Now if I can just get myself doing that cardio again, maybe I'd see the pounds start to drop again!! I was 148 on the scale this morning.. 3 pounds to 145 (my High School graduation weight!).. I'll see what I can do about getting there asap :D
Ok, now that I've been babbling on forever... I'll shut up
Hope everyone is having a great day!
Christine

Holly--thanks for the tips for my driving munchies! I will pack raw veggies, but not too much water or I'll never make it to Virginia!
I'm so glad you liked the Kashi. I really miss it if I don't have it for a day or too. It's also good if you mix it with some vanilla yogurt. I do find that it lasts longer in my belly. The other morning I had a bagel (dh called it my "April" bagel, since I only have one once a month!) and I was hungry by 10:15! The kashi stays with me all the way until lunch time!
Christine--you should be able to keep up a converstation when you're walking, but you shouldn't be able to sing. I read that recently and it makes sense to me! Enjoy all the sights around you when you walk! I love being nosey and looking in people's yards!
Hope you're all doing well!

I've heard that about walking.. or rather.. you should be able to speak to someone else.. a couple words... but not be comfortable having a whole conversation is what i heard. I could probably converse at 3.5.. a couple words at 4.. when i do my sprints.. no talkin for me... but i walk on a treadmill so there are no sights to see either.. i like to push it.. feels like I'm doing more good for myself.. in body for life they say you should do three 20-minute cardio sessions a week.. and they are interval-training type workouts.. quite high intensity.. on an intensity level of 1-10 this is what they follow for 20 minutes.. 5,5,6,7,8,9,6,7,8,9,6,7,8,9,6,7,8,9,10,4 (or approximately thus).. I haven't even attempted that ;-)
I guess mine is more than a 'brisk' walk.. pretty intense (although not BFL intense)... if a brisk walk id probably stick to 3.5mph all the way through (i truely believe the intervals help burn more fat tho!) :) Just my 2cents

Hello! How is everyone doing, I do agree about the calories. Whatever s expended, should be burned even if it is low fat/ high density!! I do watch my portions as well,.
As far as exercise, I lift weights 3 times a week for 30minutes, to an hour. I walk/ do taebo, or some other aerobics tapes, I really like Kathy Ireland, I guess too, because I used them before. I also chase my son around! Walking is GREAT!! I love to walk with my son, he loves it too!!
Thanks everyone for being so kind. Anyone else have any input/suggestions?? I am very happy this week since I have done pretty well. I will not weigh again til Friday, :dizzy:
I will keep you all posted. Once again, I say thanks, and keep up the motivation!!:)

Welcome T-girl~~~, and congrats on the weight you have lost already. I do the calorie counting , but keep those calories low fat as well. Hope your weigh in is a great one for you on Friday!
I also read all of Susans books and thought they were very good. What ever happened to her? You never hear of her anymore.
I sure do feel sorry for all of us that are suffering with the TOM !
Day five and I still feel like a slug...but I have managed to ignore those voices in my head that keep telling me" Nancy, come into the kitchen, Nancy, open the freezer, Nancy eat one of those frozen , super hard, chocalate candy bars that are hidden behind the fresh frozen strawberries, or the lean cuisine dinners."
So instead I have been chugging water like I have just finished a 10 mile walk through the desert. And the candy bars are still frozen in the back of the freezer. :strong:
Tryin hard~~~ I hope you have a great time in Virginia. How long of a drive will it be? We will be driving at the end of next month from here to Texas then to Alabama and then to Southern Illinois and then back to a Canada.WOW so many miles
We are going to go and buy one of those little Koolatron plug in coolers(they plug into your car lighter and also has electrical adaptor so you can plug it into your hotel room) I told hubby that I wanted to be in control of our eating while driving. I figure we can put Subway low fat sandwiches and our water and fruits and it will stay cold.
Christine~~~ Even though you have decided against the eating part of the BFL you will definetly benefit from the fitness part.
And you will do fine with the calories again. You know that it has been sucessful for you!!!
Well hello to the rest of the gang also,, hope your day is going just great.......
Going to run out to the library and see whats new in the weight loss section.....
See everyone later...

Hello everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome back!! We had a wonderful time but I have to admit its nice to be back in our own bed.
Well I guess its time to face the music. I stepped on the scale today and I gained 5 pounds in the past 8 days....is that possible?? I worked my butt off for the past couple of months to lose maybe 10 and gain back 5 in one week. I have to say that I am pmsing and bloated like a blow fish so hopefully water weight has something to do with it. Its nothing for me to gain 2-3 pounds right before my period and then have it drop as soon as I start. Is that too much info for ya??:^:
Anyways, I haven't given up. I have walked for the past three days and do not plan on quitting. It's just frustrating!!!!
I need your opinions as well. I am wondering if I am being unrealistic with this....over our vacation I was talking with my husband saying I needed some extra incentive to get to my goal. I was so motivated for Cancun and now that is over with so I need something else to get me going! After getting all pumped up about it I decided that I wanted to weigh 115...yes 115 by August 1. If I can do that, he agreed to buy me a nice dress and we would go to a nice restaraunt, like top notch you know? and then we would catch a play or something different like that that we would normally not do.
Now that I've gained 5 pounds, I'm back up to 150, so that means that I need to lose 35 pounds in less than 4 months. Here's the kicker, my husband has NO idea what my real weight is. He's 6'3...I'm 5'3, so he really has no concept of what a short girl like me actually weighs. He thinks I weigh about 135, and who am I to tell him that he's wrong...right??:s:
So anyways, he's thinking I just need to drop about 20 pounds when its really 35!! Now don't get me wrong, my husband could probably care less what my actual weight is. He tells me over and over again when I'm down on myself that he thinks I'm beautiful just the way I am. He's really sweet that way. It's really just a pride thing for me. I like to pretend I'm as petite as he claims to think I am. :smug:
So this is where you guys come in. Am I being realistic or am I setting myself up for a fall? I know that when I lost about 48 pounds before I did it in about 4 to 5 months but I was also heavier than I am now and I know that the loss is slower the closer you get to your goal.
Well enough babbling...I'll check in later
183/150/115 by Aug. 1??

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I'm feeling ok, very tired, craving strawberries (that's good, right? lol), and having to eat every few hours or I feel nauseous. Thankfully, I'm like I was with Emmett this early: sweets just turn me off, so there goes my sweet tooth at least for 3 months. Bought some maternity tops today (mock turtlenecks for the fall/winter) for 4.50 so that was good. Otherwise, I'm trying to excercise despite the dizziness and I did a urine test at the clinic today (they still haven't called me). All sorts of fun things.
Good luck to everyone.
In Christ,
Pamela

Hi all! HOpe you're all having a good day!
Nancy--I hope the frig stopped calling your name! Our drive to Virginia will be about 7 hours. I've got lots of good music packed and that always makes the trip go faster! It'll just be nice to get away for a week!
Jaclyn--how about making your goal a size one, instead of a pound one? Maybe it should be to fit into a specific size of jeans. But, do remember, that you've worked so hard to get where you are now and you're learning every step of the way. So if you don't hit that "magic" number on the scale, you've at least maintained a healthy way of living. Don't be so hard on yourself!
That's it for now. Just realized I never drank my water this morning and I need to go get it! Have fun!

Hi everyone,,
Sprite~~~~ Hope everything is ok with you and you'll be back with us soon. We will be thinking of you for sure...
Pamela~~~Sorry to hear about the dizziness and nausea, I hope that passes soon and you will be feeling better. Take care and stay healthy .
Jacklyn~~~Dont get so down over that weight gain. It will be off before you know it. I say alot of that is water. I have had the same thing happen to me more times then I could count and the next week it was almost gone. Keep your chin up.
Please dont stress about losing those last 35 pounds.
You know what it takes to lose it, after all look how far you have come. YOU can do this!!!!!. You must be feeling great and seeing the difference every time you look in the mirror.
I also think you should reward yourself everyday for how successful you have been.
Start shopping for that perfect dress you want, buy it now and try it on every other week until it fits.
And as far as your hubby knowing what your true weight is...go ahead and tell him.. you will feel better and it will take away that added stress of him thinking you have only 20 pounds to lose.
Keep walking, drink that water and most of all keep smiling:) !!!!!
Holly~~~~ Dont ya just hate it when you write those long posts and they just dissapear...???? Where do they go???????
So here is to a great day and one that is packed full of motivation and determination and success for all!!!

First.. so everyone knows, I started a new thread for us... as we're on page 7 here :)
Now.. on to the bad news.. I'm having a horrid day! I am emotionally a wreck. I don't know if its PMS or what but today just sucks. And I've been eating my way through the emotions too. I've been on a binge.. argh! I think I'm done.. but who knows.. blah blah blah
I hope I'm feeling better tomorrow.. cuz this just isn't acceptable!!
Hope everyone else had a better day than myself . . .
