If you have 50 or so pounds to lose, or are in the process of losing, this is the group for you! So jump on in and join, you'll be sure to get a warm welcome!

JOYce, sure hope you are feeling better, and that you got to go to the doll/ceramic show this weekend? Re: the kayak, you are right, it is much easier to use it now that I'm smaller. It was rated for 200 lbs, and when I first got it, I was 210; talk about wobbly! I kept feeling like I would tip over. It's much more stable now; in fact, dh even said it rides much higher in the water now!

Carol, got your email w/the pics, thank you! How precious! I'll bet you are really busy right now, but drop in when you can and let us know how things are going.

Texaslady, we planted lots of herbs this weekend; hope they make it through this windy weather!

Hi to Linda and Janet; hope all is going well. Anyone have plans for Easter?

Jan

JAN, I didn't get your PM with the site for your vacation pix. I'd love to see them, would you please resend it?

CAROL, how are things going with Sweetie 2?

JOYce, get well soon -- I know that you are going to have Easter dinner there (any chance you can hand this task off?).

I finally planted the rest of the Gilroy garlic in amongst some of our roses in front (roses love garlic; it keeps aphids away), and also sowed some zucchini and cucumber seeds in pots. Oh, and guess what! I ate two of my radishes which had come up!!! Idiot that I am, I thought that each seed would make a *bunch* of radishes like you buy them in the store. Each seed makes exactly ONE radish! I'd better get busy planting more....

Good morning!
I'm up and about, again. :)
I ventured out yesterday to ceramic class which went o.k., I just sit and play with my projects. But later I stopped at the grocery store, which just about wiped me out! Was afraid that I would pass out before I got checked out! But I made it, and came home and did a lot more of 'nothing'. I had thought that I would try water aerobics again this week, but guess I will give it another week, so I can gain some strength. This is really nasty stuff going around!
Now my dh is sick with URI. He always gets it so much worse than I do..... so that is the reason that we most likely will not have a big Easter dinner here.....I'll decide about Thrusday or Friday what will happen.
:?:
Linda, I didn't know that about roses and garlic! What an unlikely combo!
dh hasn't planted much garden this year. The orange tree is loaded tho, I'm going to venture out there today and picka few. been craving them. The peach and nectarine are in full bloom, a really gorgeous promise of the fruit to come!

Have a great day!

JAN, thanks for PM-ing the pix to me, they were fun to see. And your Dad either has a bandage on the left hand side of his forehead or he plastered a piece of the gulls' bread to it! Hope it is the former.... :) I'm glad that you included a picture of yourself.

JOYce, I am so glad that you made it home from the grocery store, how awful it must have been to feel like you weren't going to get through the checkout line. Take care of yourself.

Hi ladies! Sorry I am awol so much lately.
Little Sweetie #2 is doing great! She is a really good baby, and absolutely adorable!! (Not that I am biased or anything!:smug: ) DD is recovering well- probably doing more than she should, but she has a high pain tolerance and has never been a wimp or a baby about illness! I worked this morning, and will work part of the day tomorrow and Thursday, then all day Friday. I will be going in a little later in the mornings this week to kind of help with A.M. child care, etc.
Joyce, I'm worried about you!!! I hope you are feeling better! You are right- the "stuff" going around is very nasty. My dd is still not totally over hers- 3 weeks now! Please take care of yourself!!!
Jan, I enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for sharing them! Congratulate dh for me on his good work with WW, and please also give my best to your dear dad.
Linda, how is the battle of gained pounds and lost resolve going? I can totally empathize at this point!
Texaslady, how are you feeling? What's the latest word from your doctor?
Janet, how is you nephew doing? I'll try to give you a call one of these evenings to chat.
Saara and Kendra, have we lost you girls or are you still lurking? Drop on in and say hi!!
Gotta run. Take care, everyone!
Carol

CAROL, welcome back--I really have missed your cheery posts. I'm looking forward to seeing pix of little sweetie 2. I'm glad that you are able to help our your DD, but do remember to take some time to put *your* feet up, too. Hope DD is feeling better soon, she's had a long haul. How is sweetie 1 doing with this new addition to his family? Thanks for asking how I am doing with my battle of the poundage -- I haven't weighed myself lately, but I have made one step forward, and that is to eat oat bran instead of cold cereal, which is way fewer points. I'm trying not to beat myself up over this, which is sort of freeing. DH and I are still walking every day, which I know will help, too.

Hi girls - Just dropping in to say Hi - can't stay. Just fired up the computer to download the 2001 tax tables - guess what I am doing tonight??? Ugh!

Carol - I couldn't open the pictures you e-mailed me. Don't know what's wrong - looks like everyone else were able to look at them but me! :(

Joyce - Sorry you have been so ill. A girl I work with came down with something like that yesterday - I sure hope she doesn't plan to pass it around.

I really do want to get this tax stuff done tonight so I will sign off for now. I have a dr. appt next Thursday (the 4th) so may know more then. I really have felt fine these past few weeks - crossing my fingers!

Gotta go. Will catch you all later.

TEXASLADY, glad you dropped by, I hope that you aren't up too late with your taxes tonight! I'm glad you have been feeling so good, keep us posted on your next doctor's visit, OK?

Linda, thanks for the tip re: garlic and roses! I have been thinking about planting a rosebush or two this spring, so that will be helpful. Re: Dad's bandage, he'd had some more skin cancer surgery the week before. They got it all, and the places are healing well. We're lucky he has such a good doctor, to keep on top of the problem.

Texaslady, taxes, ugh! I know what you mean. Oh well, this too shall pass!

Carol, glad to hear your dd is recovering well. I know she's grateful to have you there to help her out! I hope you don't get too tired, though, working and also taking care of your new dgd! It doesn't sound like you're taking any time off for Easter?

JOYce, you have me worried too! I hope you really are resting, and not just thinking about resting! Let others carry the ball for a while, and give yourself time to get over this.

Janet, I hope your nephew continues to improve!

Dh and I are heading up to SA this afternoon for a little getaway. He'd found a free cooking class (let's hope it's not a repeat of our earlier experiences, though, when they changed the topic from healthy cooking to chocolate and cookies!). It's on the Riverwalk at a really classy restaurant. Since it was so late, we decided to stay overnight. So I went online and found an incredible deal, a night at the Fairmount (a historic, luxury hotel that I never thought we could stay in) for the price of a Motel 6! I can hardly wait ... Gotta get packing!

Regards,
Jan

I AM taking care of myself, mostly resting. Gradually gettting my strength back. This thing just takes time. Like Carol said, her dd has had it for 3 weeks. I'm only on 2.:dz:
Thanks, though, for caring.
dh is following in my footsteps.
This 'need to rest' time is giving me good excuse to spend more time sitting at the puter. I finally, after all this time, learned last night how to put things on a CD. I moved all my photo folders, since my computer freezes when I open that folder. I was very pleased with myself. Maybe next I will learn how to use the special featurs on my new scanner, which is finally operating properly!

Jan, your time in SA sounds great. I want to see the Riverwalk someday. I hear it is nice. I hope that dh and I get to come down that way in Aug., before the wedding. We'll see.

Carol, you need to take care of yourself too. Don't get run down and get the crud!

Janet, hoping things are going well for you and that your nephew is continuing to improve. How is his appetite?

texaslady, I hope and pray that you continue to feel good and that hopefully surgery can be avoided...is that a possibility?

I lost a *pound!* After CAROL'S question about my progress, I weighed myself this morning and I was so pleased to see that I am finally seeing that scale move down. I wonder if it is all the oat bran I'm eating? It's only one point, plus sugar. Whoopie! :)

JAN, hope you have a great time in SA -- what a good deal on that historic hotel you'll be staying at! Have fun.

JANET, how is your nephew faring these days?

Linda, way to go! Kudos on losing the pound, that's terrific! And thanks for the bran tip; Dh and I have had that several times this week. It's so much better than oatmeal!

JOYce, glad you're resting! I hope you'll be over this soon. And congrats on learning to make a CD and use your scanner! I sure hope you and your dh can make it down here in August; y'all would just love the Riverwalk! And your dh might also enjoy Rockport and/or Port Aransas; lots of fishing going on there! Come on down!

Dh and I had a lovely time in SA. The cooking demo wasn't much (they were recruiting for a cooking school, it turned out) but everything else was terrific. We took some long walks, esp. yesterday morning, and did ok points-wise. We're heading back to SA to pick up my little sister in a few hours, and will go to Laredo tomorrow. I plan to have *one* margarita, scout's honor! And we're both taking our journals, of course.

Hope everyone enjoys Easter! Hi to Texaslady, Janet, and Carol!

Regards,
Jan

Hi everybody! Hope you had a lovely Easter!
Dad, dh, ds and I went to Laredo for the weekend; great to have some time together. Did a little shopping. Had just *one* margarita, and didn't do too badly w/points. Went to Victoria (that restaurant Janet, Carol, Texaslady, Dh and I went to last year ... wow, has it been a whole year?). Found a few silver earrings, couple of chains, baskets; not a whole lot, as we weren't in a "serious shopping" mode! Walked quite a bit in the park, where dozens of families were setting up their Easter picnics.

And now it's back to work! Had an OP day yesterday, and aiming for an all-OP week; have to wi on Saturday, and would love to be a bit below goal for a change.

Regards,
Jan

Jan Sounds like you had a totally delightful weekend! What fun!
We had a different Easter. dh and I were both feeling poorly, so he was on one sofa and I on the other. dgd's fixed Easter dinner, they did a great job, proving that they can do it!! they even did asparagus, and some fruit salad.
I think I finally have my latest infection under control, and dh is sounding a bit better today, he has missed a week and half of work.
So! That is behind us, and back to business! I started cleaning out the fridge this morning, gonna get serious about this OP stuff! (It kinda took backseat while I was ailing) I'm in control!

Carol, How's it going with 2 little sweeties?

Janet , How is your nephew?

JanetMae

JOYce, I'm so sorry you and your dh are still feeling bad! I hope you both get completely over it soon. How sweet of your dgds to fix Easter dinner for you, though! And congrats on cleaning out the fridge; that's a major step forward. It always makes me feel better to do that, too!

Have been OP all this week so far; wasn't bad in Mexico, but sure wasn't strictly OP over Easter weekend! And I have to WI on Sat. morning. So far, looks like it'll be the same as the March WI, around WW goal, but maybe I can lose a little bit more by then. I'm planning to WI every week now, along with dh, so I can get more serious about reaching my personal goal. Summer approaches!! We're visiting ds and db-i-l in Florida in July, and this will be the first time I've ever gone swimming in their pool. (Before, I was too embarrassed, and our more recent visits were either in winter, or not at their house.) Surely that will motivate me!!

What is everyone planning for the weekend? Texaslady, any news from the doctor? Janet, hope your nephew continues to improve. Carol, I know you're mucho busy right now, but drop in when you can! Linda, dh and I are enjoying that oat bran every few mornings; thanks for the idea!

Regards,
Jan
